PS I am struck by all the stuff here in the last couple of days about how much Hillary Clinton apparently cares about the health and well-being of American children. All very nice, but given her history of enthusiasm for the U.S. waging wars here, there, and all over the place, where has her concern been for non-American children. Where, for example, is all that caring attitude when it comes to the million or so Iraqi children who died of preventable, treatable diseases and malnutrition, and dehydration while her husband, with her support, starved and strangled the country? And where has been her concern for Iraqi children since she gave her all-out support to George Bush's aggression on Iraq?

And where was her concern for Lebanese children in July, 2006, while she was cheering Israel on its criminal and devastating prolonged assault on Lebanon, and for two days AFTER the cease fire terms were agreed upon while Israel was carpeting southern Lebanon with the cluster bombs, that most indiscriminate of weapons, that are killing and maiming Lebanese children on a regular basis, and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future? and on a similar note, if she cared about any but American children, would she not have pressured Israel to release to the Lebanese at long last the map of the land mines that Israel placed there during its 20 year occupation?

I could go on, but why bother. Maybe by now it is clear why I am not impressed by the heartwarming stories of how she cares for children that have abounded here in recent days.

"While working in the White House, Ms. Solis married Jim Doyle, a corporate lawyer. Mrs. Clinton, on a trip to Chicago, met her aide’s parents and praised Mr. Doyle to them. When Ms. Solis Doyle had her first baby, Mrs. Clinton urged her to bring her crib into the White House. Often a “baby sleeping” sign would be hanging on her office door."

How sweet! How thoughtful!

And that qualifies Hillary Clinton to run the country exactly how?

Just in from MSNBC's First Read -- a chuckler:

Huckabee went pheasant hunting in Iowa, donning orange garb and all. His shots weren't just for the birds. He also took aim at Romney.

(Hopefully, he looked better than Kerry in '04 with those dead geese -- they were geese, right? :))

Edwards, Obama, McCain (he's really going up in some polls!), etc. news:

Edwards went on air in New Hampshire also making the case for his candidacy. He says he'll "stand up for people whose voices are ignored," be "honest," keep promises and "work every day to restore the American Dream." http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/12/26/533688.aspx

Obama is set to deliver his closing argument speech tomorrow, playing up "change" over "experience." He also addresses Bill Clinton's remark that electing Obama would be "rolling the dice." http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/12/26/534015.aspx

McCain also went on air in South Carolina with an ad in South Carolina, features his days as a POW, appeals to patriotism and highlights his maverick attitude. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/12/26/533758.aspx

NBC/NJ's Carrie Dann reports that despite a smattering of bad press over their last mail attack on Obama's health care plan -- in the name of John Edwards -- AFSCME is at it again. And again, in the name of Edwards. http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/12/26/534022.aspx
