You understand the issues of the day in a historical context. The past always imposes on the future. What is today did not just erupt today, it has context, it is informed by, molded by that context, that history. Prisoner to it maybe not; but molded and informed by it, definitely. We are where we are because of where we have been and the paths we and others chose in the past. Hell the USA has issues with IRAN because of our history with them going back to world war one, and that history is alive to them even if it is not to us.
Mossadegh is an issue even though he is long dead and Kermie Roosveldt is also.
Tribalism in Kenya long predates the bunch of lines drawn on a map by a BOGSAT in the foreign office in London.

RE: History comment. You deal well or poorly with the isues of the day and this decides the future. No one is a prisoner of history. We don't have problems from the Civil War, we have problems we have done a poor job of handling. Kenyans are not any different.

144 years after the end of the Unites States Civil war, there are still issues and problems arisen from it and as yet unsolved.
90 years after the end of World War I, 63 years after the end of wwII, 56 years after the end of the Korean war and 33 years after the end of the VietNam war there are still issues that divide the american populace arising from each of these wars. I am pleased to see that Kenya is a much more mature country and has no lasting effects from its 8 year civil war and its hundred plus years of colonial misrule.

Things are beyond a point that some kind of political process can be enacted at this point.

Can the UN or OAS intervene either? This is blowing up into epic scale proportions.
