“Professor Obama’s Political Plagiarism”
By SusanUnPC on February 13, 2008 at 7:51 PM in Barack Obama, Economy, Environment, Health Care, Hillary Clinton, Infrastructure, John Edwards
This quote will air tonight at 9:36 pm est. on BLOOMBERG TELEVISION’s “Money & Politics.” The quote is from the “Dollars and Sense” segment with Gene Sperling and Kevin Hassett:
The fact is that Obama’s [economic] plan today is the most shameless piece of potential plagiarism that I have ever seen. He basically took Clinton’s words and Clinton’s policies and called them his own. If I were a professor I’d give him an F and try to get him kicked out of school for something this terrible…If I were on the Clinton team, I’d be prepping memos.
- Kevin A. Hassett, Senior Fellow and Director of Economic Policy Studies, American Enterprise Institute, John McCain adviser (H/t AndreWalker08 at MyDD.com)
It must also be noted that John Edwards’ economic stimulus plans were also widely acknowledged to be vastly superior to Obama’s far weaker plans. NYT columnist and economist Paul Krugman, in January, wrote: “[L]ast month, before the economic consensus turned as negative as it now has, [John Edwards] proposed a stimulus package including aid to unemployed workers, aid to cash-strapped state and local governments, public investment in alternative energy, and other measures.”
“Those covering Senator Obama’s economic speech in Wisconsin today could be forgiven if it felt like déjà vu all over again. Voters may ask themselves that if Senator Obama cannot produce his own ideas on the campaign trail, how will he solve new problems as President?,” asks Neera Tanden, Policy Director for the Clinton campaign.
“Senator Obama’s only ‘new’ ideas were ones that Senator Clinton proposed months ago,” Tanden continues.
FOR STARTERS: His “new” proposal for a national infrastructure bank is one that Hillary proposed August 8, 2007. [”I’m proud to co-sponsor Senator Dodd and Senator Hagel’s National Infrastructure Bank Act that we just introduced to establish a federally-backed independent bank that will evaluate and finance large infrastructure projects by subsidies, loan guarantees, and bonds backed by the full faith and credit of the United States.” Rebuilding America speech, 8/8/07; S. 1926, 8/1/07]
Here’s more:
- His “new” proposal to create 5 million green collar jobs was proposed by Hillary on November 5, 2007. [”And three, to move us from a carbon-based economy to an efficient, green economy by unleashing a wave of private-sector innovation in clean energy and energy efficiency. I believe that will create at least five million good new jobs from clean energy over the next decade.” Energy and Climate speech, 11/5/07]
- Google CEO Eric Schmidt praises Hillary’s plan to create 5 million Green Collar jobs, 11/5/07: “By emphasizing the connection between promoting a green efficient economy and job creation, Senator Clinton’s plan seeks to harness the power of technology and innovation to address one of our most pressing global challenges…The goal of producing 5 million new jobs can be achieved by private sector investment and bipartisan support for increased research and development in efficiency and clean energy.”
“In addition, while Senator Obama was busy resuscitating Hillary’s policies, he failed to offer real solutions for the most pressing economic challenges that Americans families face,” writes Tanden.
As Hillary explained this morning, “a plan that fails to provide universal health care, fails to address the housing crisis, and fails to immediately start creating good paying jobs in America again will not turn the economy around and provide the real relief that our people need. We need real results not more rhetoric.”
This is not the first time we’ve noted problems with Mr. Obama’s weak or “borrowed” economic plans.
First, there are his Republican-leaning economic advisers. Stephen Schlesinger — former Director of the World Policy Institute at the New School University and the son of Arthur Schlesinger — wrote a Huffington Post article, “Obama’s Conservative Economists,” that stated:
[The Nation’s] Max Fraser … suggests that the economic advisors who are assisting Senator Obama’s campaign are helping him stake out a position on the subprime lending crisis ‘to the right of not only populist Edwards but Clinton as well.” […]
Fraser attributes Obama’s constricted response to “the centrist politics of his three chief economic advisors and his campaign’s ties to Wall Street institutions opposed to increased financial regulations” and points out that Obama has received almost $10 million in contributions from the finance insurance and real estate sector through October 2007.
For the candidate of change and bold ideas, Obama’s tepid response to the overwhelming mortgage crisis suggests a Republican-orientation rather than a Democratic one — and should be subject to debate in the remaining presidential primaries. …
Paul Krugman, in January, offered up a devastating dissection of Obama’s economic stimulus package. “Disreputable” is the term that Krugman used to describe the Obama campaign’s first weak attempt. About Obama’s second attempt, Krugman says it’s “tilted to the right” and that Obama “really is less progressive than his rivals on matters of domestic policy.”
Krugman also pointed out” on January 14:
Last week Hillary Clinton offered a broadly similar but somewhat larger proposal. (It also includes aid to families having trouble paying heating bills, which seems like a clever way to put cash in the hands of people likely to spend it.) The Edwards and Clinton proposals both contain provisions for bigger stimulus if the economy worsens.
And you have to say that Mrs. Clinton seems comfortable with and knowledgeable about economic policy. I’m sure the Hillary-haters will find some reason that’s a bad thing, but there’s something to be said for presidents who know what they’re talking about.
Here’s what Dr. Krugman wrote about Obama’s “disreputable” first plan and right-leaning second plan:
The Obama campaign’s initial response to the latest wave of bad economic news was, I’m sorry to say, disreputable: Mr. Obama’s top economic adviser claimed that the long-term tax-cut plan the candidate announced months ago is just what we need to keep the slump from “morphing into a drastic decline in consumer spending.” Hmm: claiming that the candidate is all-seeing, and that a tax cut originally proposed for other reasons is also a recession-fighting measure — doesn’t that sound familiar? [NOTE THE REFERENCE TO BUSH’S PLAN.]
Anyway, on Sunday Mr. Obama came out with a real stimulus plan. As was the case with his health care plan, which fell short of universal coverage, his stimulus proposal is similar to those of the other Democratic candidates, but tilted to the right.
For example, the Obama plan appears to contain none of the alternative energy initiatives that are in both the Edwards and Clinton proposals, and emphasizes across-the-board tax cuts over both aid to the hardest-hit families and help for state and local governments. I know that Mr. Obama’s supporters hate to hear this, but he really is less progressive than his rivals on matters of domestic policy. …
Well, that is until he “lifted” the economic plans of Hillary Clinton with a big, splashy announcement today as if HE were the one with the ideas.
Here’s the February 2nd TV ad featuring RFK Jr. as well as the son of the late Cesar Chavez, on the “voiceless” and how “Hillary has inherited his father’s legacy of speaking up for the disenfranchised.” “Hillary knows how to solve our problems, to get things done,” says Cesar L. Chavez. (CNN Ticker)

Good stuff.
The Washington Post fact-checked Obama’s Feb 10 claim that he has doubled voter turnout and found the evidence lacking.
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/fact-checker/2008/02/measuring_the_obama_effect_1.html
Give me a break, the American Enterprise Institute. After reading your article, I just gave more money to the Obama campaign. Keep up the good work.
But what did you think of the arguement, is it correct, Obama plagarizes?
Lol, I got another $50 for ya right here Obama.
Obama 08
Obama has to have his own ideas? Says who? And if he liked Edwards’ and is using them, so what?
How inane and fickle can detractors get when this is the best they can come up with.
Now I didn’t read it here, but were you aghast at Hillary’s suggestion of garnishing wages to protect profits for health insurance companies? Or do I hear crickets chirping?
And yes, in Iowa which Obama took, he effectively doubled the numbers that turned out in the last contested election. His numbers by and large have been enormous, and so far beating Hillary by a 29 point AVERAGE over the last 8 primary/caucus events.
Meanwhile Hillary loans herself campaign money because the big lobby sources dried up, she refuses to release her tax returns, and wants to garnish workers to force them to buy insurance.
Yea, that’s support for the working class….
Since you didn’t read what Hillary said, here is where you can hear exactly what she said:
http://ie.youtube.com/watch?v=e18Qa56tMBU
Ignore the title of this YouTube clip (supplied by the poster) since that is a distortion of what she said.
In a nutshell, she was asked how she would enforce the mandated health insurance and George Stephanopoulos asked if one way she would do it was garnishing wages. She replied that was one way but there were others. The full quote is:
There are also mechanisms in her plan to help low income people pay for their insurance. Mandated health care is no different than mandated social security and car insurance.
Obama is distorting what she said in a manner consistent to the way Republicans distorted Truman’s attempt to shore-up social security. At the time, the GOP tried to exempt people from social security as a way to undermine it. So too, with this distortion of Senator Clinton’s plan.
Now, that we cleared up the distortion, it remains a legitimate policy debate on whether or not health care should be mandated. As noted on other posts on this blog, the primary reason for mandated health care is cost containment. If it is not mandated, then people still will have health care without paying for it — it is known as the emergency room. This is expensive on a number of accounts — emergency room treatment is the most expensive form of treatment and it is not preventive (getting check-ups and nipping problems in the bud quickly), which is one of the best tools for lowering costs.
Doesn’t Obama’s plan mandate coverage for minors? I see a lot of talking points about clinton’s mandates while glossing over the fact that Obama too has mandates in his plan. How is he going to go about enforcing these mandates? I ask this sincerly, as I’ve yet to hear him explain this in any detail. Clinton, however, has been pretty thorough in her answers.
Really hard to get Obama people to take an objective reality check.
What happens if he is President…he will not have anyone to cheat off of.
What I am hearing… that plagarism and stealing is ok.
ALso… you are ok with any unique plan being more similiar to the Republicans…..hmmmm..
Alas… we bow to almighty Obama.
I will take someone who undestands the content, has a command of the content and lead our nation into a land of prosperity…..not into the fog chamber.
So you really think Bush comes up with his own ideas? That is really laughable. Do you Senator Clinton is original? Is there anyone in DC who is really original. I think what we like about Senator Obama is he is not the same old same old. He is not in bed with the NRA, Pharmaceutlicals, Oil, big business, AIPAC, etc etc. That in itself is pretty original
“I think what we like about Senator Obama is he is not the same old same old”
Your just argued that Obama was doing what everyone else was doing: Copying each other.
It therefore follows that Senator Obama IS the same old shit.
Fifteen yards for defective syllogism.

It was dishonest of Barack Hussein Obama to steal Hillary Rodham Clinton’s plan and not credit her.
If Barack Hussein Obama wants to give credit to Hillary Rodham Clinton stating that he admires her plan so much that he would make it his if elected - fine.
But for Barack Hussein Obama to realize that his plan was inferior and then just steal Hillary Rodham Clinton’s plan and try to pass hers off as his? He is reprehensible.
He is also what you can expect as the centerpiece of the corrupt Daley machine.
Centerpiece of the corrupt Rezko, or Auchi, machine.
That really won’t stick until McCain says it.
So far he’s only up to the “P” word, platitude.
I wager that they are saving the real deal until after they set the Democrats up with Obama as the Democratic nominee.
Until then it will just be slap & tickle.
He is
notin bed with the NRA, Pharmaceutlicals, Oil, big business, AIPAC, etc etc.Looked at who’s made donations to Obama campaign lately?
Please check your facts if the they have any bearing on your point of view.
In Idaho he was not for Gun Control but in Illinios he is? Which way are the winds of “change” blowing today in the land of Obama?
Hate to disagree, but Obama prostrated himself before AIPAC even more than Hillary did. Whether he meant it or not is open to question. At least according to the review of candidates in Ha’areetz, Obama is the least good of the candidates for Isreal. ( other than Dr. Paul who has campainged to cut off all military aid to all middle eastern countries.)
You can review his contributors and the lobbyists who have donated to him through opensecrets.org, covers quite well in whose pockets each candidate has found the deepest wallets.
You need a wake up call Obama is in bed with all the lobbist that he said he wasn’t. That guy has never told the truth thru all this campaign and I hope McCain wins by a landslide. Here is one Dem that is not voting Obama NO WAY….
Accusing people of being “cultists” while churning out 50,000 “I hate Obama” posts per day is kind of funny.
The discussion against Obama has taken on a tabloid character.
Finally, the posting on this web site is beginning to give off the faint but growing scent of desperation.
Oh wise waif, riddle me this
How does the ethereal count to 50,000 without fingers and toes.
Look to yourself, oh disembodied one, as the stench arises when thy free floating spirit is captured by proton beams and then sucked into Ray Stanz’s patented ghost trap.
Off to the Ecto-Containment Unit with ye.
I don’t “hate” Obama sir!
I believe “The discussion against Obama has taken on a tabloid character”.” is a fair statement when describing the discussion of a tabloid character.
God forbid the Men in Black use his bio as currently decribed and mistake it for actionable intelligence.
obama cannot win in the general against mccain put that in your pipe & smoke it. i am a black democrat who will not vote for obama.peace
And you’re sure Hillary can? Her recent new found affection for Richard Mellon Scaife and certain Conservative attack rags notwithstanding - the conservative machine is primed and ready for her as well.
That’s why the current bickering and badgering between the two is so troublesome - it only weakens both of them and the Democratic party in general.
It’s ok for Obama to steal ideas from other candidates because he’s for Hope and Change and No More Politics As Usual. Just like it’s ok for the media to be totally Anti-Hillary and Pro-Obama because it will help Obama win. I think it’s called Ends Justifying the Means, and there’s nothing “new” or “fresh” about it.
You can’t argue with cultists.
“You can’t argue with cultists.”
This road goes on forever and the party never stops. Yeats said it best
“The best lack all convictions, while the worst
Are full of passionate intensity”
Indeed, John, what rough beast, its hour come round at last,
Slouches towards Denver to be born?
Jack Yeats? The guy who runs the porn shop down the street?
I love morons who try to compensate for their inability to string thoughts together by pulling quotes out of books. Ooooh, it makes you look soooooo smart.
At least you cite your source. That puts you one up on Obama.
McCain? Maybe a few years back but not now. Perhaps if the pharma industry invents a new arthritis pain medication and some sort of new soothing anger management pill.
Seriously, though, McCain will be 72 if he gets into the oval office, 76 if he makes it through without any health issues. What’s the age of other world leader’s these days? Don’t think there are many leaders of significance in their 70’s. Age is an issue esp given the tempo a president must keep and the rapid pace with which events turn these days.
McCain also has some serious baggage and not much depth on some of the issues like social security. That he is a champion of campaign finance given his early campaign history and the SL matter is rich. My German Shepard and I planted McCain signs in Arlington and my son got to meet him. NBD.
Everyone keeps talking about being battle tested. What does that mean? Remembering when you’re campaigning that you’re not in Palm Beach, you’re in Watts? Not having original policy positions? Why politicians would put every think tank and consultant out of business if they came up with ideas on their own. Lastly, talk of accountability at the leadership level in this country is hilarious: did anyone lose their job/resign for 911? how neat is it that the president and congress can retroactively make themselves not guilty of human rights abuses? or that laws can be made nullifying lawsuits against companines (er, ah telecoms) working with the security apparatus?
Barack Hussein Obama
Urkle - Yes he can get a mansion from Rezko,
Let his constituents freeze
Likes to vote present
Says he’ll magically win over Republicans
He thinks he’s JFK/MLK
Instead he hits the wrong buttons
Top guy in the corrupt Daley machine
Barack Hussein Obama - You’re desparate (islam=evil…got it Bush)
Urkle - Yes he can get a mansion from Rezko, - We joke cause we’re afraid (smart black people scare you…got it Charlie)
Let his constituents freeze - It’s cold in Chicago
(what the hell are you talking about?)
Likes to vote present - Like the rest of the Illinois legislature.
Says he’ll magically win over Republicans - Obama/Coburn, Coburn-Obama-Carper-McCain, he Fuel Economy Reform Act
He thinks he’s JFK/MLK - Because he’s young black and can put a sentence together?
Instead he hits the wrong buttons - Wha?
Top guy in the corrupt Daley machine - Daley endorses him so he’s part of the machine. Should he “condemn and denounce” Daley too.
Hmm, i thought I would try to discuss this issue somewhat reasonably without snark. The Jobs Bank bill, btw, was not an idea proposed by Hillary, but by Dodd. Hillary joined as a co-sponsor a day later:
National Infrastructure Bank Act
Sponsor: Sen Dodd, Christopher J. [CT] (introduced 8/1/2007)
COSPONSORS(5), BY DATE [order is left to right]:
Sen Hagel, Chuck [NE] - 8/1/2007
Sen Clinton, Hillary Rodham [NY] - 8/2/2007
Sen Mikulski, Barbara A. [MD] - 2/6/2008
Sen Dorgan, Byron L. [ND] - 2/6/2008
Sen Brown, Sherrod [OH] - 2/6/2008
So, you can accuse both of them plagiarizing the bill. With respect to the “green jobs” proposal, Hillary is hardly the first person to propose that “policy.”
When it comes to health care, quite honestly, both candidates are smoking opium. Obama’s plan is definitely less progressive. My fiance, who is a Hillary supporter, asked me why there is a problem with Hillary’s plan while we were having lunch. I told her to look at the 24 year waitress serving us; now, imagine her having approximately $4000 garnished from her wages to pay for the health care mandate. I then said the reason why Obama’s plan would be faulty is because that same healthy 24 year needs to pay that $4000 so that we older farts can get health care. The former plan is a political nonstarter, and the latter plan suffers because the healthy may not join in enough numbers. (Obama does try to incentivize free-loaders, but experts are dubious.)
Obama’s proposal for helping the sub-prime mess is the best that I have seen so far. The “correction” has to happen, but he does try to soften the blow of adjusted interest rates. Hillary’s idea is a complete mess, on the other hand. Freezing interest rates is blatantly unconstitutional (Art I, section 10). Even if implemented, it would cause severe negative repercussions to the our economy? Why? Well, lenders chase the highest return. Tell me why lenders would stay in the residential lending market when they can earn more money elsewhere. So, Hillary’s plan would benefit current homeowners, but screw the rest of us still needing home loans.
Finally, the cited “plagiarized” plan is approx. 20% of Obama’s proposals.
Jeebus, you guys are creepy. When someone spends all their time and energy digging up dirt on one candidate while spending virtually no time at all explaining why and how their own fave would be a better choice, I have to wonder what’s up. It’s really the sleaziest kind of snakeoil sales pitch there is.
Particularly here at this blog, which has done a pretty good job spotlighting the complete trainwreck of a foreign policy that the current administration has inflicted upon us and the world, I’m surprised to find so much apparent support for Clinton as I don’t see her as representing anything different.
A McCain vs Clinton race is a win/win for the war party, and you guys are all wrapped up over a plagarazed election-year miracle that nobody can deliver anyway, and who’s guilty by association with whom? Doesn’t that rule out everyone in DC?
You’ve kinda drug yourself through the mud by giving into this, imo. A shame.
Which of the 4 remaining, active candidates is not in the war party?
Well Obama is no Ron Paul, but I don’t believe he is on par with Clinton or McCain. He has not done the pledge-allegiance-to-Israel thing as far as I know, but I admittedly have not followed him closely as I haven’t considered myself a supporter and our primaries are late anyway. This year though, who knows, maybe we’ll matter more.
Would you argue that a Clinton admin would undertake a more sane foreign policy than an Obama? Think he’s the more likely to start another fight?
Yes, he already said he would bomb Pakistan (a sovereign nation with nukes!) on “actionable intelligence”.
Unfortunately, Obama did the prostrate himself before AIPAC and pledge allegiance to Israel the same week Clinton did. It does not appear to have helped him as Ha’areetz in their last article evaluating the american candidates on the issue of which one would be best for Israel listed Obama as last. Dr. Paul was not included in the evaluation.
I was not enamoured of the Clinton era military/foreign policy. Kosovo, Serbia, Haiti, aspirin plants in Sudan, NAFTA, sanctions on Iraq, Elian Gonzales, to name a few foreign policy issues that were less than sane then. Their North Korea policy was sane, their Rwanda policy ended up being sane but probably because they faced a very hostile congress. So to answer, no I could not argue that a clinton policy would be any more sane this time around since Hillary has chosen to rely heavily on Bill’s old appointees in that area and added a few of the less brazen neocons.
“someone spends all their time and energy digging up dirt on one candidate while spending virtually no time at all explaining why and how their own fave would be a better choice”
OH, I understand whats happening here… You haven’t been reading. There have been countless entries explaining why people who support Hillary Clinton, do so….but if you aren’t going to read them, then no wonder you don’t see any “explaining why and how”.
Come on folks, don’t be so lazy.
Joseph Wilson just explained why. Larry Johnson has explained why, others explain why…is this how void of comprehension the drive bys are?
I can understand what you mean by “don’t see her as representing anything different”. This has been why I wasn’t going to support her. I was supporting Dennis Kucinich, just like I did in 2004. He isn’t in the race now. And the alternative candidate is blowing smoke up my ass.
I’m not afraid of a tough mom, because I have a tough mom, was raised by an even tougher grandmother, and strong women don’t scare me. And so far, most of the attacks on Hillary Clinton haven’t risen above sexist double standards, guilt by associations, presumptive assessments that are more about a critics filters than her actual position.
In the areas where I disagree with Clinton, or hold her accountable (war votes), her opponent isn’t much different. However, he has made immature comments about missles strikes into Pakistan, gets very vague when talking about policy, and the fact that we cannot scrutinize him without flack really tops the cake.
As a Democratic operative asked me today, “so you’re intending to vote for a known problem, than the unknown?” “yes, thats one way to look at it. I already read the Starr Report, know about right wing smears regarding Whitewater, Vince Foster, it takes a village. All her skeletons are out, known, displayed for history’s records. I’m not allowed to ask about his record, his credentials.”
I’m nobody’s voter. Each vote must be earned. You can insult me and others for sticking to our guns, and you really only hurt your own candidate more. You haven’t learned his art of rhetoric. He’s pretty good at rhetoric, I’ll give ya that.
Well you must love Air Obama Radio, CNN, MSNBC, etc. because they spend every minute of the day tearing down one candidate rather than telling us why the one they like is preferable. My guess is that that doesn’t bother you at all though, because it’s not your ox being gored.
Obama lies and steals Hillarys ideas. Shocking. He had to, he has none of his own.
I don’t know how Obama can sleep at night. He will be another Bush. Being cousins with Bush and Cheney, Obama comes by his cheating naturally.
Cousins with Bush and Cheney?
Hillary did make a mistake and she is very sorry for voting for the war. More than anyone will ever know. But she knows the way every single DEM should know here, if she says that word “mistake” the republicans will beat her over the head with it. They would run commerical after commerical after commerical on it. And the republicans will swiftboat her. And they will call Hillary a flip flopper. Right now they have nothing to run on. She knows Bush lied to everyone including congress, but she also made a mistake.
I have seen Hillary speak in person 5 times. When she speaks of our brave soliders you can see she knows she made a mistake and she is sorry. That is why she is going to correct it the moment she enters the WH. And bring our troops home safely.
I know DEMS have forgiving hearts. Think about who lied to all of us. Bush. And his people. Faking evidence, saying that nuclear bombs could be headed our way and talking over and over again about mushroom clouds.
Bush and his people lied to all of us and they should be impeached for it. Call your members of congress and lets impeach Bush and Cheney. They will not do it without our voices being heard.
well, according to a Very patient staffer in Conyers office today:
“Yes, I’m checking to see if Mr. Conyers is going to hold hearings on Rep. Wexler’s motions for impeachment hearings”
“No, he is not.”
“uh…oh, sounds quit final…”
“Mr. Conyers does not believe it would be a good political move at this time to move forward on this, and he has heard the many views of impeachment.”
“Yes, I’ve read his “Constitution in Crisis” publication, and he laid out the case quite well. Can I ask a question?”
unbelievably patient for a staffer: “yes”
“what do I tell my children now that I’ve taught them about checks and balances, about impeachment as a constitutional remedy for abuse of power, and all that? if we aren’t going to hold them accountable then…”
staffer: “well, I wouldn’t say we haven’t held them accountable. We’ve had hearings after hearings. We have contempt citations going forward against Josh Bolton and Harriet Myers…”
me: “which Muckasey make clear he isn’t going to pursue, with utter contempt for Congress in the process”
staffer: “well, we did see the resignation of Alberto Gonzales”
me: “on his terms ultimately. and yes, we have seen all the hearings. In fact, I have most of them on tape, and now when a hearing is on, its no different than watching VH1 reality shows. Its sensational, but with no consequence.”
staffer: “I understand what you mean. I hear you.”
me: “Look, I understand the political reality of caucus. If Mr. Conyers steps out there with this, and lets say, comes up with 65 votes out of 435…it would be a total embarrasment, right?”
staffer: “not simply an embarrasment, but yes.”
etc…
I have to admit, the patience of the staffer, her consideration that this meant something to me, that I wasn’t reading a cue card, but was legitimately following this, with countless reasons we must move forward..and yet, she seemed to know that there is so much Corruption in the members of Congress, so many beholden interests, that they feel it would be an ambush to even try.
SO, what do we do to change their minds about this?
I have to admit, I was heartbroken right after, because I’ve been here before. Its the place where reality says Rocks are Hard, and Water is Wet. The politicians who are not corrupt may simply be in the minority, regardless of their party.
What say you?
Looking at the names of the people who didn’t support blocking immunity, its clear to see DEMOCRAT next to many of those names. What to do about that?
The DEMS are in the same position they have been ever since Bush called them terrorist sympatisers. They know the only way to effect change is be in office. And they see the hand writing on the wall. I worked on the 2004 campaign and Kerry and Edwards should have won.
Bush swift boated Kerry. He got his people to lie and lie some more about Kerrys record in Vietnam. Kerrys numbers went down and down and down. Then right before election day the “October surprise.” Bin Laden comes on and speaks. Bush talks about 9.11 and Iraq and terrorists and the sheep follow. The sky is falling we must keep Bush in office or we will be attacked again.
The DEMS see the recent past and they only go so far up to the line and they just can’t cross it. Remember those low life reporters asking Nancy Pelosi if the DEMS take over congress do you promise not to try to impeach Bush? How dare the media ask this? Pelois knew if she said yes the DEMS would lose votes.
All of the DEMS must call and write to congress and tell them we want Bush and Cheney impeached now. I don’t know if they will do it. The REP and the media are going to throw a fit. And maybe even some DEMS. But we need to take a stand. They deserve no less.
For those who are interested in increasing their knowledge, based on facts, to vote intelligently do the following:
Google: The Chicago Sun Times. In the search section type:Rezko/Obama connection. It will bring up about 52 articles on their 19 year relationship. This newspaper has been covering this relationship for about 2 years. To read just one or two articles will fail to provide all important information. (Read All)
After reading every article, you will know all there is to know about senator Obama based on FACTS.

[…] my piece, “Professor Obama’s Political Plagiarism,” that discusses how Obama’s Wisconsin speech earlier this week on economic plans are […]
I am a young woman living in Ohio and for the last 4 presidental elections the only names I have seen on the ballot for president were CLINTON or BUSH.
Yes we need a change and that change should be Obama.
Not Bill Clinton for the next 4 years.
What else can be expected from him. He has done nothing for the Illinois! He has basically been running for President the second he stepped foot in Washington. He says this is not about race but his professional bloggers and supporters are calling voters in Wisconsin saying Bill Clinton just moved his office to Harlem to get the black vote and how no vote was cast in Harlem for Obama. That NY result are fraud.
Give us a break. He is a phony and lier and so are the people working for him. I rather vote for GWB if he was running again than an unexperienced, self serving lier. Wake up people.
A pattern of copying from other and calling it his own. How did he graduate from Harvard?
I don’t know, maybe someone should check it out.
Would be interesting, I think.
And what, graduation from Harvard bestows the USDA stamp on every would be President?
Specious thinking, Edwards is clearly superior to Obama, and yet he attended Chapel Hill.
Bremer went to Yale, and he’s responsible for the mess that is Iraq.
All you need to see is Harvard, and everything is gonna be OK?
You think like a child.
The New York Times reports that last week Barack and Deval, who are good friends, had a conversation and that Deval suggested that Barack use these lines, and Deval sent Barack a copy of the speech for his use.

Furthermore, Hillary herself has led chants of “Yes we can” at her campaign rallies, and also, she attacked Barack by asking “Where’s the beef?” which was the phrase used by Walter Mondale to attack Gary Hart in 1984 (and also was lifted from a Wendy’s commercial).

People are so caught up with the idea of “making history” with Obama that they don’t even care whether or not he has the right qualifications and can deliver on his promises. Obama seems terribly ambitious, and it’s unquestionable that he is lacking in experience. Everyone, including Obama himeslf, knows this and it doesn’t seem to matter. Often, Obama spoke of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But he never once visited our brave troops stationed there. Recently, Obama turned down an invitation to visit to the folks in New Orleans, because he is too busy with giving more Harvard quality speeches across the country. So much for hope, compassion, and good judgement. For America’s sake, Obama should have proved himself first in the Senate and maybe run for governor in Illinois, before running for the Oval Office.
The majority of Obama supporters are very young and do not know the ways of the world. You can’t lead a country just by saying you’re for change. What the hell is the change? Stealing other peoples ideas? Obama supporters do not seem to care about right and wrong in regards to Obama so I doubt they apply it to anything else in their lives. You will learn the hard way I guess. The reasons Obama shouldn’t be President are numerous and do not require extensive thinking, just the ability to see reality. Dream on Obama supporters, dream on.
