Saturday Night Live Alert!

There was a strange wire story earlier that Hillary Clinton had ditched her press corps and plane, and that she’d “disappeared.” A couple of my pals were worried. Where was she? Was she alright? Both Mark Halperin and CNN have picked up the rumors:

CNN: “Live from New York, it’s Hillary Clinton?” Halperin at his blog, The Page, for Time magazine: “LIVE FROM NEW YORK … IT’S..!!! Clinton ditches press corps and heads for…. Developing….”.

And here’s Jack on Hill. (How many times has Nicholson been on SNL?)

Did you miss last week’s SNL? Watch it here: “Bamboozlin’ Obama Lampooned Big Time on SNL (Videos) [UPDATED x2]

ALSO: Catch “Geraldo” tonight on FOX News (reairs at 9pm and 1am PST). He does an extended interview of PBS host Tavis Smiley. As you know, Smiley held a national convention in New Orleans last Saturday. Smiley invited all four presidential candidates. Only Hillary Clinton made the effort to come to New Orleans. She spoke briefly and took questions. Smiley’s remarks on “Geraldo” (Fox News) are must-see TV.

And here’s Princeton professor Cornel West at that national conference, on Barack Obama and who he has become answerable to:

Seems she will appear with Rudy G.

Missed Geraldo, is there a link in the web?

It reairs on Fox News … 9pm and 1am PST. And a couple times tomorrow.

DO watch it. Also on: Carol Alt, the gorgeous and smart model. She is really for Hillary. Very neat interview.

Susan,
Somewhat off topic but I was fortunate to to have sat with Rep. Shelia Jackson Lee, (TX- D) shortly after she and 10 others were willingly arrested, including congressmen Tom Lantos and Jim Moran when they protested Darfur in front of the Sudanese Embassy.
What a wonderful woman and a great plane ride. She was on her way to Detroit to honor Rosa Parks.

There are very few scholars who move me as much as Dr. Cornell West. When he appears, he busts clouds, he evaporates illusions. He speaks very effectively to the points missed in our daily hubbub. His clarity on our collective struggle is with few if any peers.

This was a beautiful clip.

Well said Chris.

See what Dr. West’s influence can do to my basically inarticulate nature? even makes me a poet for a moment.

Tavis hosted the best debate.

He ought to be the official moderator of the Democratic party debates for life.

He’s the only even handed moderator in the entire season.

Comment by John | 2008-03-01 23:25:56

I’d settle for a debate moderator who doesn’t openly loathe one of the candidates. That would be a huge step up.

Perfect appearance by Hillary. Great audience response - sustained applause. Spot on lampooning of the Ohio debate. Excellent spoof of Obama/JJ/Sharpton.

Whoot!

I don’t understand why the African American community doesn’t hold BO accountable. If Hillary didn’t speak out on women’s issues, man that would piss me off. She speaks and acts with such integrity…BO doesn’t. Some days he talks with a southern black preacher voice and others with an uppity white Harvard voice…I just want to scream. It isn’t that I’m racist I just want a leader with integrity and one who I can trust to have an agenda and fight for it. Hillary’s agenda is the black agenda, the women’s agenda — it’s about equality and the end of poverty. Personally, I think it’s sad that the AA community has, for the most part, abandoned her. She’s done nothing less than fight for them and all who have been oppressed.

Agreed but the word “uppity” can backfire.

Ann, this bothers me too. It breaks my heart that there is no loyalty for Hillary among most blacks. I understand that they are proud of Obama but the big picture should be considered and they should be doing their homework. His failure as a President would certainly not be a good thing for them to have to live through. I could vote for a Clinton/Obama ticket. He needs 8 years of the Clintons’ experiences in the WH before he becomes President.

This makes me sad, too, in terms of how this blind, mindless support for Obama, a horrifically flawed candidate, is appearing to put African American politicians far far behind, confirming the suspicions of every bigot out there.

I guess it’s like being a woman, they say you have to work twice as hard to get half the credit, as a minority candidate, you have to be scrupulous, and Obama, well, Obama, yeah, right.

Too bad.

Hillary has just as much inexperience as Barrack does. Being married to a President (of any organization) isn’t something that I have run across while looking through resumes. It’s kind of a hard thing to word. Besides where are all these papers that she is suppose to be releasing to confirm her hard work as First Lady? The Facts, Die hard Clinton fans are now feeling the disappointment and have pledged to go down on a sinking ship. However, there is still hope. You will be able to vote for Obama in November. Free your mind. YES YOU CAN!
