Take Your Boobs and Go Home

Shorter Nicholas Kristof: Hillary’s a bitch, and she only has a right to stay in the campaign if she behaves like a good girl. Also, the Clintons are an amorphous two-headed beast who are barely Democrats.
There is a fair argument to be made about the wisdom of a protracted primary battle if it continues to be as bloody as it has been (though I’m not sure how many people outside the blogosphere and punditry actually view it as all that bloody). But that argument can be made without pretending the Clinton campaign is the only one playing hardball, and it can be made without talking about the Clintons—who, despite one’s opinion of them, have raised shitloads of cash and garnered lots of international goodwill on behalf of the Democratic Party—like they’re unwelcome interlopers in the party, and it can most certainly be made without comments like: “If Mrs. Clinton can run a high-minded, civil campaign and rein in her proxies, then she has every right to continue through the next few primaries.”
Actually, Mr. Kristof, she has every right no matter what kind of campaign she runs. That’s an American right, and it is operable for men and uppity bitches.

You go, girl! I want to see Hillary unload her wrath on the Senate and Congress! To quote Tina Fey, “Bitches get things done!”
I want to see Hillary give some payback to unethical republicans in Austin, Texas! And deport some of their foreign friends, as well.
Will Michigan and Florida challenge their delegate seating as a legtimate first amendment free speech issue?
The headline verbiage might attract some odd search engine results….
I tried that; the first 4 results are this post.
Yeah, I thought it was about Obama and his supporters.
Media talking heads, bloggers smothering under the weight of their own self-importance, “opinion writers,” etc. all think they own the process. They’ve decreed Obama the Democratic nominee, and they can’t for the life of themselves understand why the voting public hasn’t gotten the memo. They can’t lash out against the public, so they lash out against Hillary instead.
They are all pathetic little losers who look in the mirror and see Napoleon staring back at them. Fuck them all. The people will decide. And when they choose Hillary, I hope their heads explode in unison.
Bitches may get things done, BUT, at what COST?? I really dont like the idea of people thinking Hillery is a bitch because she wants to become president. If thats the case what shall we call men who want to become president? assholes? bastards?
Hillery will not be president because of who she hired to help her get there. She has pissed off people because she let her pitt bulls and thugs speak for her, this is a mess. Hillery supporters followed the GOP hand book, and lost this thing for her. She has lost her reputation. And thats a shame, she could have stood up and changed this, but she did NOT DO IT. When you smear the other side, you better be able to say or prove your better than they are, but she cant, or wont.
Concern troll.
What horseshit. Same thing I told Kristof. Look past all this nonsense about Hillary this Hillary that and you find Obama is not capable of being president. Period. A few years from now, maybe. Not now.
…you’d better be able to say or prove you’re better than they are, but HE can’t or won’t.
Who are you? Pretending you like Hillary and slamming her at the same time? You are so full of rage, you seem so unhappy and you don’t seem to have a sense of humor…ohhhh…I get it, you’re an OBAMA supporter. Wouldn’t you rather hang out at your own sites where you’ll be with other angry, hate-filled, like-minded others?
Are you people children or high school kids? Jesus Christ, this sounds like it! So your saying if people dont support Hillery, we should get off this site?? Fine. Fine. I guess you all need a break for a cheer or something to make you feel better. LOL, I wont post agin, your all just bit to bitter or sensitive. Have a good evening. Sorry you just want to hear what you preach, thats what the GOP like also. Im gone.
I think it’s funny that a guy apparently addicted to using “LOL” is asking the rest of us if we are children. LOL! ROTFLMAO! I’m sorry you are leaving liberalbuffet, I was hoping we could be BFFs 4 EVR!
There’s a difference between wanting to hear what we preach and screaming at us like a banshee…
It always makes my nipples hard when you condescend me. Your fluff arrogance, your selfbloated down your nose puff keeps me in stitches.
‘your’ vs ‘you’re’. You are conjunction = “You’re”. Even I learned that in elementary school yesterday. LOLUSMF
And I don’t believe you when you say you won’t post ‘agin’. And you were the one who just pulled a rhetorical suicide bomb before you call all of us or them ‘bitter or sensitive’. Grow a fucking skin nitwit.
And you really need to look in the mirror and eat your words for breakfast. Thats YOUR breakfast, not You’re breakfast.
Your words are masturbatory nonsense.
Take a moment and go put your Pat “get out of the race” Leahy mask on and do your little dance of victory. And be quite sure of one thing, it really will be as much about people like you when I don’t vote Democrat in November as the people you point at, if they are at all responsible.
Fuck Barack Obama. I don’t owe him a goddamn thing. And no matter how many times his dogs go out and bark I’m still not voting for him. You can play your guilt trip elitist nonsense wherever you want, but it isn’t working here. So fuck your candidate. I don’t give my vote away to candidates who send their surrogate generals out to call a former president McCarthyites. He’s a conartist Trojan Horse and all your smears do nothing to get me to vote for him.
This method of campaigning on your part has really shown how he loves, AND RELIES upon the Politics of Destruction to con your naive ass into voting for him.
About liberalb…
Is it necessary to attack a guy by everyone, and by every means, just because you don’t agree with his view?
I, too, used to like this website a lot better before when we could rally behind Larry for his support of Valerie.
Now, it’s like a scene out of ‘cage fighting’.
dooner, you fail to see that liberalbuffet jumped other people’s shit, so don’t point at the people who fire back and say, ‘because you don’t agree with his view’.
I didn’t attack his view, I answered his attack. Deal with it as you wish. I’m sick of hearing that Larry is responsible for this or that you can’t hack the conversation. If you can’t deal with it, then don’t.
Thanks, Chris.
Short answer: YES!
Excuse me but, they don’t even allow Hillary supporters on Obama sites. They moderate, name-call and if you ask them to explain why they think Obama is the better more qualified candidate all they do is attack Hillary and her supporters for supporting her. Very much like you’re doing.
I assure you, I am not 12, but it sounds like you are.
I think Obama needs to take your advice. Because his campaign and his supporters have done nothing but engage in character assassination against her from the beginning. They have called her a liar, dishonest, scheming, calculating, a fake crier, a racist, D-punjab, you name it.
All this before she had said word ONE negative about Obama. As a matter of fact, she spent the first months constantly bending over backwards to effusively praise him and the inspiration of his historic candidacy - a favor he rarely and only grudgingly returned for HER historic candidacy, BTW.
BUT, at what COST??
For 1000 I’ll Take
What is “The Cost of Freedom”? Answer is;

I would seriously like you to give me examples of this, always with the “she unleashed a scorch earth policy, ran a dirty campaign etc”. where’s the beef? how come the other opponents arent’ accused of dirty tricks? sounds naive but all anti hillary folks do is yell out generic criticisms. GOP handbook? best yet. I am so sick of all of this. i’ve just been lurking and not writing but i am irritated this eve. so i want to know all the notated examples of her dirty campaign.
It really is the craziest thing. I call them the opposites. Everything they say or claim is the opposite of the truth. They have morphed into those “evil” republicans they hate so much. Willing to lie, deceive, misrepresent because the ends always justifies the means. It is simply amazing to me.
Stop getting the vapors. Did you miss the Republican primaries? Their behavior in 2004? 2000? That is what thugs and pit bulls look like. No Democratic presidential candidate in my memory has done anything like what the Republicans do. Calling an man who risked his life to save a fellow soldier a traitor, or chickenhawk Republicans calling a fellow Republican war hero brain washed is standard operating procedures for Republicans. In SC these kinds of push poll attacking McCain were used in this primary.
You had better toughen up or if Obama is the nominee you will have to take to hiding under your bed.
I read through most of what you had to say and excused your misspelling of Hillary’s name the first time. But it is obvious that you meant to misrepresent as well as smear Hillary. Nice try. But the thugs are the Chicago crowd.
That may be your take but Big Tent Democrat over at TalkLeft, who is a tepid Obama supporter, has exactly the opposite take.
I have a great book on Canadian leaders called “Bastards and Boneheads” by Will Ferguson - upshot: bastards get things done, boneheads don’t.
And you do have a candidate who admits to boneheaded mistakes….
Oh, heavens, Liberal Buffet, head for the faintin’ couch. Obama’s campaign tactics have been worse than Clinton’s. False charges of racism, campaigning with a homophobic “ex-Gay” minister (McGlurkin) and then excusing the action with a lot of pretty words in a speech - this is the pattern.
Clinton doesn’t pretend to be anyone other than who she is - an ambitious, smart and very competent politician who is running for the highest office in the country. Obama pretends to be above it all, and thanks to his media enablers, people buy it.
I say hog wash. Clinton campaign tactics are much worse, and want to know how I know? She will lose. SHE WILL LOSE. What dont you people not get about “SHE WILL LOSE”??? She went over the freakin line, OR MAYBE I SHOULD SAY, HER PEOPLE WENT OVER THE DAMM LINE. The sad part is this, she had a job, and she was good at it, now she may not have that job in New York because of the assholes who went to bat for her. Hell, they took that bat and bashed anybody who did not support her, NOT THINKING THAT WHEN THIS SHIT IS OVER, people dont forget.
Im from Oregon, and the” lip “in this state is this >>>PEOPLE ARE PISSED AT HER AND DID NOT THINK SHE WOULD GO THIS FAR, and unless blind and stupid, its not just Oregon who is thinking this way, LOL
and I say “nobody here gives a shit about your opinion, or the opinion of anybody who thinks that REPEATING TALKING POINTS, and REPEATING THEM IN CAPS, somehow gives them greater weight. ”
Let me try your strategy and see if it works. GO AWAY TROLL. Do you understand? GO AWAY. What do you not get about GO AWAY? Nobody cares what you think. Do you get that? NOBODY CARES WHAT YOU THINK. GO AWAY.
See, I used all caps. That means that what I wrote has Authority. So you’ll GO AWAY now, right?
LOL? What, are you thirteen? Did you just admit by adding that that your entire post was a big joke? It certainly read that way.
Here’s the “Lip” in Oregon- “Our public school system is failing! We are producing a generation of young people who can’t write a legible blog post! Help!”
Don’t worry. It’s Hillary to the rescue.
Ok, now THAT was funny..sorry, please go back to the troll swatting, I’ll just sit back quietly and finish my Martini.
IM a Nam vet. Not a child. Im 55. Better think before you post, it helps. Now go for it kiddo, post some more shit. I have been to school, Im a terrible typer, but I do have a few things tucked under my belt, and its not drugs,or booze, its things you cant even begin to muster in your little brain. I liked this site because I have seen Larry on the tube and watch what he has to say, I think hes a very interesting person and has much to say. I think Valerie Plame got a raw fuckin deal and I have read her book, and many others. So, be you might want to use some internet manners once in a while. Know what I mean?
Gee, I’m so incredibly impressed with your resume, I really am. I won’t even try to imagine what you have tucked under your belt that
A) Isn’t drugs
B) Isn’t booze, but
C) is something I cant even begin to muster in my little brain. It will probably keep me up tonight wondering. Is it bigger than a breadbox?
I agree that Larry is an interesting person and I, too, have seen him on the tube and enjoy watching what he has to say. I too think he is an interesting person and, as you say, he has much to say LOL. I agree also that Valerie Plame got a “fucking raw deal,” a term I will use frequently from now on since I know from you that using it does not violate internet etiquette. I will do my best to use some internet manners, it would be a fucking raw deal if I didn’t, wouldn’t it?
And yes, I know what you mean. Fucking raw deal. Something under your belt, not drugs or booze. Things I can’t muster. Got it. Thank you sir, Roger Wilco over and out.
despite the differences here; Thanks for you service.
yes maggot I know what you mean. You think YOU are the center of the universe and we all know that isn’t so because I’m the center of the universe, you are a blip on my radar.
And you might want to use some internet manners before you lecture me or anyone else on manners. I don’t care where you served, what your age is, or how many typing issues you have, you pop off you get what you get. As a supposed vet, you should know that if you fire on a crowd you will get shot at right back numbnuts.
You make comments about “in your little brain” which implies you think you’ve got the bigger brain, a sure sign of deficiency. You liked this site because you are a pedestrian not because you saw something in Larry. You take it with convenience. I’m not pedestrian, this shit matters and I can butch up and take whatever your maggot fingers can muster, Col Muster.
So before you pull another rhetorical suicide bombing here why not chill out on your ego a bit and realize that I don’t give a rats ass about your typing issues or whats tucked under you belt, because you are just one of 6.5 billion people on this earth and just another blip on the net.
For Kristof, liberalbuffet, and any of the many who may react to this post, from Reference.com
There are many different forms of misogyny. In its most overt expression, a misogynist will openly hate all women simply because they are female. Other forms of misogyny may be less overt. Some misogynists may simply be prejudiced against all women, or may hate women who do not fall into one or more acceptable categories.
Entire cultures may be said to be misogynist if they treat women in ways that can be seen as harmful. Examples include forcing women to tend to all domestic responsibilities, demanding silence from a woman, or beating a woman. Subscribers to one model, the mother/whore dichotomy, hold that women can only be “mothers” or “whores.” Another variant is the virgin/whore dichotomy, in which women who do not adhere to a saintly standard of moral purity are considered “whores.”
Frequently, the term misogynist is used in a looser sense as a term of derision to describe anyone who holds an unpopular or distasteful view about women as a group. A man who considers himself “a great lover of women,” therefore, might somewhat paradoxically be termed a misogynist by those who consider his treatment of women sexist. Archetypes of this type of man might be Giacomo Casanova and Don Juan, who were both reputed for their many libertine affairs with women.
Misogyny is a negative attitude towards women as a group, and so need not fully determine a misogynist’s attitude towards each individual woman. The fact that someone holds misogynist views may not prevent them from having positive relationships with some women. Conversely, simply having negative relationships with some women does not necessarily mean someone holds misogynistic views. The term, like most negative descriptions of attitudes, is used as an epithet and applied to a wide variety of behaviors and attitudes.
As with other terms, the more antipathetic one’s position is in regards to misogyny, the larger the number of misogynists and the greater variety of attitudes and behaviors who fall into one’s perception of “misogynist.” This is, of course, the subject of much controversy and debate with opinions ranging widely as to the extent and breadth of misogyny in society.
Very nice.
I had an inkling of the various “shades” of misogyny when I spoke to the male members of my family who voted for Obama. When I asked why, they couldn’t really tell me what it was about Barack they liked so much, but flew into an incomprehensible rage about Hillary. I suspected they had unresolved issues with women and your piece seems to confirm my observations.
It could be that or it could just be that they have listened to our media for years tell them that Hillary is an evil bitch. Too many people are still taken in by the inside-the-beltway conventional “wisdom”.
Well, I got called a racist for having the NERVE to agree with Hillary’s comment that she would have left a church with a minister like Jeremiah Wright. I was labeled a “racist” for refusing to agree that women had been given an unfair number of opportunities as a result of affirmative action and that women were used by many to avoid giving black men a chance. I was labeled a “racist” for pointing out that Obama does not have a snowball’s chance in hell of carrying a SINGLE Southern state–or many of those other “red” states (e.g., Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, etc.) that the ‘bots cite as evidence of Obama’s electoral prowess, for that matter.
As a woman who has faced discrimination for having had the temerity to enter male-dominated disciplines, I still remember the harassment that I endured from BOTH male professors and male classmates. I still recall only too well the slanderous, insulting remarks made by male peers when I had the audacity to set up a dental practice since I was the ONLY woman dentist anywhere in the region at the time. And I can honestly say that NO ONE bent any rules for me to gain admission since I was among the top applicants the year that I was accepted. I also remember being rejected for a commission in the Navy because their “quota” for women had been filled–I was actually told this!
Misogyny is all around in our culture, but like so many forms of bigotry, the only people who really recognize its full impact are its victims–WOMEN! Black women are perhaps the most victimized of all, which may explain why so many black women have prominent roles in Hillary’s campaign.
liberalbuffet: you sound really upset…like maybe Hillary is going to kick his ass and you’re getting nervous. Gee…well, I’m from NY and just so you know: WE LOVE HER HERE!!!
Deal with it. If your whiny candidate can’t take the heat, tell Obambi to go back to Chicago where he can get kickbacks from his unsavory friends.
Again, it is the opposites. I guess it is your contention that Hillary is the one who misses all the votes and never convenes any meetings. Is that right? Obama is clearly one of the least effective Senators while Hillary is clearly one of the best. It makes perfect sense to me that she would be the one under fire.
Well LOL liberalhysteria, you silly person do you not understand that the Hillary supporters feel exactly, if not more so, about Obama as you have so hysterically expressed feeling about Hillary Clinton in your comment? Do you not understand that we don’t like your candidate, we don’t much like his surrogates and supporters and we don’t like being told by someone who is so very damned partisan that we must all fall in line and support you damned candidate. Go away, you are a bore.
Oh my God…. did you just call us New Yorkers ‘assholes?
Oh no you didn’t?
I got news for you bub. Obama shouldn’t be so cock sure he’s going to win NY. Especially with attitudes like yours coming from his so-called liberal supporters. I’ve Copied & will Paste your remarks and send them around to my many Hillary supporters here in NY.
Mimi, you’re a woman after my own heart! I don’t want McBush, but after seeing the behavior of Obama and company, I will have a VERY difficult time voting for that man as well! I was an Edwards supporter so it’s not as though I’ve been on the Hillary bandwagon all along. I was actually ambivalent about Clinton and Obama. NOT ANY MORE! If Obama is the Democratic nominee (particularly if he doesn’t put Hillary on the ticket), I may have to write in someone ELSE this time–that’s how much animus that this yellow-dog Democrat feels toward Obama!
Edwards should endorse Hillary, if he has any progressive feelings left.
It’s a win-win situation too: if Hillary doesn’t get the nomination, the Edwards endorsement will not hurt Hillary in the GE.
I keep reading that Edwards will endorse Hillary, and yet, he seems to be sitting on his hands. I suppose that I can understand Edwards keeping his options open–particularly if he is looking for a cabinet appointment in EITHER an Obama or Clinton administration. But I would have a lot MORE respect if Edwards would endorse Hillary NOW!
That would be cool if JE came out before NC votes in MAY for HILLARY!!
Bill C was here tonight in Asheville and the lines were down the road and around the corner! The gymnasium only holds 2600 and they turned them away!

Thanks for the link! That was really nice.
Good to hear. Since Asheville is hippy central I figured it would be Obama central. I saw him yesterday in Salisbury, NC. The crowd was not huge, but there had not been much notice and it was in the middle of the day. He gave a great, long speech. He ticked off the economic progress we made in the 90’s - millions moving out of poverty, huge reduction in the welfare rolls, balanced budgets, booming economy and compared it with what has happened since. It made me so nostalgic for Clintonomics I almost cried. It also made me question the sanity of the media and my fellow Americans who prefer some amorphous kind of change rather than a return to the kind of policies that were proven to work really well.
The highlight for me was when he used an analogy to talk about Iraq, saying that most of us would take in a neighbor whose house had burned down even if they had to sleep on the couch. We would let them stay a long time, but if they were still on the couch after 5 years we would know that it was no longer about the fire, but about not wanting to get off our couch. He said Iraq is like that. That the Iraquis are still depending on us after five years is no longer about the fire. They just do not want to get off our couch.
There was only a ONE day (not even 24 hours) between BILL C’s announcing he was coming to Asheville HIGH.
Over 2 thousand showed up including my daughter! I couldn’t go because it turned out there was no seating in that gym. OR so the email said.
so, you can guess there were LOADS of young people there! Some waited for HOURS.
Not even 24 hours notice.
The article was in the MORNING paper and the event was held in the evening! I found out the night before by attending a Hillary Meet up.
That says a LOT to me! I think Western NC loves HILLARY!!
I must congratulate Kristof for putting Hillary in her place. Kristof and John McCain and Barack Obama are welcome to join me at Augusta Country Club where we won’t be bothered by Hillary and her ilk. We can snap towels with Chris Matthews and Tiger Woods.
When I was younger I used to watch the Masters religiously. That is until I found out about their repressive anti-women policies. I haven’t watched it in years and don’t miss it either.
due to the lack of the information in the past, many americans want their vote back from Obama.

Fair-weather friends: The Clintons cut NH loose
YOUR COMMENTS
Dear New Hampshire,
We from the state of Iowa handed you the chance to end the democratic nomination race by handing you Barak.
But you believed the Clinton lies.
Tsk. Tsk
Well … now you know.
- Chip, Iowa City, IA
Perhaps New Hampshire’s pledged delegates should take Hillary up on her position that they have the right to switch sides — to Obama.
- Marc, Chicago
This is just occurring to you NOW?
- Ted Stryker, Manchester
Yet more distortions and political maneuvering by the Clintons for their own advantage!
I was mildly surprised by the NH primary outcome in February, although we did no better here in California. I now hope that PA will take their opportunity to put an END to this travesty of a campaign by HRC, and vote for Barack Obama.
Let’s get on with the business of winning the election with a powerful candidate, and a unified Democratic Party.
- John Mc., Valley Village, CA
Bill and Hillary Clinton seem well on their way to sabotaging the Obama campaign to such an extent that neither Democratic contender will be able to win the general election. The Clintons have apparently reached the conclusion that a Republican win in 2008 and another shot for Hillary in 2012 is their best bet.It may sound good at first, but the logic falls short. If the Hillary supporters fail to vote for Obama this time, surely his will return the “favor” in 2012. Hillary Clinton will become the pariah she so richly deserves to be. Her future in the Democratic Party will be as a former senator from New York.
- Paul Halbach, Agawam, MA
The Clintons have no loyalty to New Hampshire…please New Hampshire do not put your faith in Hillary Clinton…
Take a look: Hillary: “The Movie”

Is Dr. P a pseudonym for Lewis Carroll?
No, I think it’s a pseudonym for what runs down your leg if you don’t get to the bathroom in time.
You do know that the Union Leader is a Repug rag?
It is the “Dr” part I’d be worried about.
not the yellow snow.
Paging DR. P to urology.
but wait! there’s more for only 9.99 you too can own you very own Rethug girlyman piece personally endorsed by …you guessed it; Karrrl Rovvve.
And if you call in the next 30 seconds we will even add Obama’s autographed copy of “The Audacity of Buying Real Estate and the Politicians that Live There”, complete with a forward by Tony “the fixer” Rezko and “twenty seven eight-by-ten color glossy photo’s” of Obama’s house being blessed by that truly patriotic Rev. Wright!
======
Take a look: Hillary: “The Movie” /..naw, think I’ll pass,… I’ll be watching “Hillary: The White House Years”
I heard an Obama delegate from Texas on the Diane Rehm show yesterday say that he cannot vote for him after learning of Rev. Wright. I don’t know if he will be allowed to vote for Hillary on the first ballot, but Obama has lost his support. Meanwhile the MSM is busy saying the Wright thing has not hurt Obama. David Brooks wss on the PBS Newshour yesterday talking about how he has lost support from independents because of ……you guessed it - the evil Hillary. Funny how he overlooked the fact that a lot of independents are turned off by the fact that Obama attended a church that promotes bigotry and anti-Americanism. And if I hear one more time that it is Reagan Dems who have a problem with this I will scream. I know a lot of Dems who were horrified when they heard Wright’s comments and they were not all Hillary supporters.
I know one young AA man who supports Obama who was also put off by Michelles one woman pity party, especially her complaining to working class women about how hard it is for them what with the student loans for those fancy Ivy League schools and the $10,000 a year they spend on their daughters dance, music, etc. Next thing she will be complaining about the cost of Jimmy Choo shoes going up. Of course there is a media blackout on Michelle’s gaffes so not a lot of people know what she is really like - yet. The Republicans will make sure we do. Wait until Americans get a load of Michelle’s one woman pity party. And Maureen Dowd thinks Hillary feels entitled.
Here’s another link on BILL C in NC!
There is REAL hope for Hillary in Western NC.
We had a meetup last night and there were 4 times as many people that showed up than a year ago (the last time they met)
This Wright stuff is on everyone’s lips around here!
oops forgot the link

B-F-D.
I’m exhausted with the whining from both sides. “Hillary said something mean” “Obama is sexist” “Bill Clinton said something racist” “Obama is disenfranchising FL and MI”.
Get over it. It’s politics and it’s dirty. The only problem I have with that is if it hurts the nominee in the GE (because all I really care is that McCain isn’t president). So I don’t like Hillary saying McCain is ready to be president and Obama is not. That’s bullshit I don’t want to hear from any democrat (you compare your primary opponent to the republican, not contrast by saying the repub is better). And Obama pushing the “Hillary is a liar” meme is shitty, even if you’re sure you’re going to win you don’t throw a fellow dem under the bus like that.
More hits from Clinton is good for Obama if he’s the nominee, since anything that comes out now is forgotten in November. The Wright “controversy” couldn’t have come out at a better time. Nobody has any right to tell someone else to get out of the race when there’s any chance of victory, I just wish Hillary had the republicans oppo research, then they’d have no weapons if he did win the nomination. But remember, the same is true for Hillary, so I want her financial records or any other dirt to come out now.
Well, sorry, but I’m a Democrat, and I don’t quite get what is so outrageous about suggesting that a guy with 21 years experience in the Senate might be more ready for the Presidency than a guy with three years in the Senate who started running for President roughly five minutes after being elected. That doesn’t mean McCain is the kind of President I want, but it’s pretty weird to argue that he isn’t more qualified.
George Bush I was more qualified than Gov. Bill Clinton in 1992, wasn’t he? Didn’t stop be from voting for Gov. Clinton– but I would hardly have reacted with outrage at the argument that President Bush was more “qualified.”
Personally, I don’t think Obama is qualified AT ALL. He has ZERO record of accomplishment. He has NO record in the Senate, where he has yet to even get his feet wet. Those are just facts- what’s wrong with pointing out facts?
Jesus, why don’t you yell at us for pointing out that Obama is under fifty years old- is that a smear too? Give it a rest– Obama doesnt’ deserve anyone’s vote because he calls himself a Democrat. We think for ourselves here. If Obama wants our support he’s going to have to earn it- he’s not going to get mine because he’s on the Democratic Party section of the ballot.
“If Obama wants our support he’s going to have to earn it”
Exactly, and this is the heart of the issue. There is this rally mentality that if they all come out excited I should feel the same thing. This is the root definition of “arrogance”: The belief that your values are better than others.
Obama was interesting to me at first, but I saw his passive aggressive shit last year and then his surrogates and their bullshit. People point at Mark Penn and Wolfson and say, ‘well they’re no different.’…I say clearly yes they are..they aren’t saying they aren’t that way.
Obama’s camp made a claim that is bullshit: “we’re running a positive campaign.” “people are tired of the politics of destruction”. And then the fuckers engage in dirty politics.
I went through this with Gore’s camp in 2000, pure fucking arrogance, pure elitism. Speak common man, then act common man and I’ll consider you. I can smell a pander from 20 paces. And Howard Dean, Pat Leahy, Chris Dodd and Nancy Pelosi can hold their breath till I vote for their candidate of choice.
Melissa, you rock. But then, I’m just a hysterical woman, so my opinion might not matter. It is very nice to see that Mr. Kristof is giving Senator Clinton permission to continue running, so long as she conducts herself in a ladylike manner and crosses at the ankle, not the knee.
Gee, after all the hardball politics I’ve seen in primaries ( anyone remember Axelrod’s TV ad morphing Dean’s face with Osama Bin Laden’s?), I don’t remember any men being told publicly by party leaders that they needed to drop out, because really, they had had their little tea party and said nasty things, and it was time for the big boys to get on with the real politics now.
I keep getting the urge to call up Dodd’s and Leahy’s offices and say
“SCARY VAGINA! BOOGA BOOGA!”, then hang up.
LOL!!
Just as an aside, I know that being referred to as “D-Punjab” is supposed to be an insult, but I’ve found Punjabis to be the salt of the earth. My 2 cents…
Melissa McEwan: great post; you should really go to Kristof comments page and post it to him directly
in his blog:

These jerks need some reality check.
Larry’s post last Sunday on Rich was superb. Rich should get a copy as well.
This whole “Surrender, Hillary” and “Hillary, act like a lady” attitude is wearing on my last nerve.
It’s like when you were a kid and longed to play football or baseball, or just wanted to do something “ungirlish” on your own. You were admonished with “Nice girls are cheerleaders; isn’t that waht you really want?” or “Honey, you can’t play that sport. It’s for boys.”
So, Hillary is supposed to sit down, shut up, and let Obama take it all without a good fight? And then she can settle for (maybe) Senate Majority Leader, per Pat Leahy? Fat chance in THAT good ole boys club! (But if anyone could do it, Clinton would be the one.)
Enough already. I say let Clinton and Obama duke it out. This is politics. It’s not a tea party.
Once the dust settles, the candidate who doesn’t win, and that candidate’s supporters had better work like hell for the nominee. The United States cannot survive a McCain Administration.
It CAN flourish under Clinton, or do well under Obama if he has good advisors.
Kristof has been in the tank for Obama for months. I’ve completely stopped reading the NY Times, and I live in NY. Frank Rich and Maureen Dowd are absolutely pathological at this point. Bob Herbert is voting identity and twisting anything he can find to support that agenda, and Kristof was the one who wrote the “brilliant” article trying to convince us that experience doesn’t really matter.” As if Obama is going to suddenly demonstrate exceptional skills that he has not shown in his unexamined and unimpressive career so far. Krugman is the only one with any semblance of sanity and analytical ability. Today, he mentioned that many people from right and left believe that “Hillary tortures puppies and eats babies” but her economic policies are more bold and progressive than either of the other candidates. From a Princeton economist no less. I guess he missed the Kool Aid punch bowl at the Christmas party.
Hilary cant win - mathmatically -either the dem nom, or the general. The anti Hilary venom, reinforced by her gawd awful campaign, will totally energize the R-wingers in November. Her disgusting and puzzling attacks on Obama, not to mention her TOTAL LIE about Bosnia, have sealed her fate with Dems like me that used to hold her in high regard. I’ve been at turns amused, and bewildered by the - sorry ,there’s no other word for it - SHRILL reaction by Clintonistas to Obama’s challenge. My old-school-femenist sister’s reaction was typically without rational merit, “It’s OUR turn”, she yelled into the phone! And,..”I’ll be damned if I’ll be ruled by another MAN!”
Unfortunately, you who ‘rule’ this site also seem have lost your rational moorings. I think it’s because deep down you believe that Hilary is the one , the only true perfect feminist candidate. Well, fear not. There will be other, less morally conflicted female candidates for President of the United States.
I used to come to this site to take advantage of Larry’s expertise in security matters. But you guys have gone over the cliff. Good god , do you REALLY want a President McCain? Because that’s what you’re going to reap with all this self righteous vitriol.
I’m all done with you.
Peace, y’all.
More than glad to see ya go.
Peace, dude.
Hmmm….
1) “shrill” (sorry, dude, a disclaimer ahead of time does not make a sexist slur okay),
2) “old-school feminist”, and
3) ” typically irrational”.
Dingdingding! You just hit the Misogynist Pig Trifecta!
You win a solid brass codpiece to protect your vulnerable bits from the nasty toothsome she-devils who have overrun the club and are striding about in tweed jackets, politicking and smoking all the good cigars!
Strap it on, my petulant friend, for we are here to stay.
Peace out.
