Randi Rhodes was always my least favorite Radio Host on Air America (Before I cancelled my 3-year old premium podcast membership when it became “Air Obama)
Randi Rhodes would go on the air and refer to herself as a black female journalist. Last I checked she was white and jewish and radio host does not a “journalist” make.
She should be suspended from the airwaves same as David Shuster was on MSNBC for his “pimped out” comment when referencing Chelsea stumping for her mom!
I hope that Air America goes under and regardless of who inhabits 100 Pennsylvania Ave., we true progressives should never tune into these kinds of shows ever again!

I haven’t listened to her in a very long time but she used to be a big Sheila Jackson Lee supporter who is, if I am not mistaken, a major Hillary supporter. I wonder how that relationship is going. I am think that Ms. Jackson-Lee isn’t going to like it that Randi is calling Hillary and Geraldine whores.
There is a reason she can’t find work
Randi Rhodes is the biggest disappointment in the huge disappointment that is Air America.
She’s gone from rational, passionate advocacy for progressive candidates and causes to irrational, nonsensical rants that have no clear objective and pro-Obama screeds that have no basis in fact.
Air America has let me down so many times that I’ve stopped listening. The hosts are either hopelessly inept, or ridiculously pro-Obama, or both.
I got XM just so I could listen to Air America. I have no intention of renewing my subscription when it expires.

I can assure them that, as a former college student, these kids are not going to be spending their beer money to listen to Randi. Just like someone needs to tell the DNC that the great majority of Obama’s money does not come from the college crowd!!
Not only is Rhodes’ diatribe tacky, tasteless, and hateful; it’s just really bad comedy.

Yeah…I agree really bad and she is also reading her dialoge….I mean..if you really feel that way about HRC shouldn’t you know it and not have to read it off of queue cards. I am embarrassed to say that I ever listened to her on my way from work each nights..
I used to listen to Randi Rhodes every weekday. Now I never listen to her. I continued to listen to Thom Hartmann until last week because he kept saying both candidates would make great presidents. Then last week he declared the “Throw granny under the bus” speech the greatest speech since the Gettysburg Address.
I stopped listening to Hartman way before Obama’s speech. I stopped listening when he accused Hillary of darkening Obama’s skin color on the 3 a.m. ad. I could not belive it!!!! I used to think he had integrity. Not anymore. I wrote him a letter (U.S.Mail) giving him Fact Check’s analysis of the ad (not darkened) and another very detailed analysis of why the color had not been doctored. I told him that Hillary deserved an on-air apology for that remark since it was not true.
I have not heard one word back. Not even a form letter. So I am back to listening to oldies when I drive. And I drive a lot for work. No more Air America for me.

She is an absolute hypocrite, before Edwards got out of the race she criticized Barack for his war speech before he was elected and then railed on him for not living those ideals and aligning himself with certain people in congress after being elected. I guess I shouldn’t act so shocked. It reflects her lack of professionalism to say the least. All AAradio lost my listenership after they all seemed to simultaneously jump into the BO boat and rail unfairly against Hillary.
Can anybody get a copy of that? That would be interesting to hear.
I used to listen to Randy, but now I boycott the entire channel and their affiliates. Stephanie Miller is the most vacuous of them all, and Randy is venal. Randy will do anything if she thinks it yields money, but what she fails to acknowledge are the low ratings of Air America. It was an interesting experiment, however. Too bad it failed.
Isn’t it interesting that before the primary season began, these Air America radio hosts talked about nothing but the superiority of we Demcrat’s. How, unlike the Republicans, our strength comes from our “diversity”. We are the “true” big tent party.
They are complete hypocrites and no better than the Republicans they have been railing against for the past 8 years.

Exactly right. When I got XM radio in 2003, it was SPECIFICALLY to get Air America. I remember Al Franken telling me why Air America was different from Right-Wing talk: the “dittoheads” told you what to think, who to send money to, who do vote for. Air America was different. Air America would never treat us like children who needed to be guided like sheep.
How times have changed. I never listen to Air America for more than a few minutes at a time, and invariably turn it off in disgust, often while swearing under my breath (or, if in my car, out loud.) Rhodes is the WORST, but Rachel Maddow, gunning for her own MSNBC show, is not far behind.
So my co-worker and I have had passing comments about the race and we talked about the sources of information etc. including radio.
I pulled along side him this afternoon and he starts laughing at me…i ask him what’s so funny…We both switched from Air America to Lou Dobbs. No I don’t always agree with the man,but at least Dobbs isn’t having a coronary on the mike.

An ecoFriendly radio Station, until recently was called Quakeradio. I heard the the station manager say he values listener input so if you want to drop a friendly note….and remind them what “progressive” means.

Green960 is the new name for the progressive station in the San Francisco Bay Area (oakland). They had a special get-together with Randi last weekend. I was originally going to go, but saved myself the five bucks. Not too long ago, they cut Stephanie Miller’s show to one hour. (Steph is one of the few Obama-mamas that is willing to defend Hillary.) After they got hundreds of e-mails, they restored her show to its three hours. Thus they claimed that they listened to the will of the people. if they hadn’t cut Stephanie’s show in the first place, they wouldn’t have had to go through that rigamarole to restore it. So the business of paying attention to their listeners is a pile of crapola. It would be simpler if they changed their name to Radio Obama.

After watching this I can’t believe how reprehensible she is. If this is what is passing for “progressive” radio these days then I completely understand why someone like Taylor Marsh hasn’t been able to make it. Taylor has WAY more class than this disgusting person. Randy Rhodes is a female Rush Limbaugh. And maybe even worse.

I agree. Taylor Marsh is a Clinton partisan and she isn’t afraid to say so. All journalists and radio show hosts should put their beliefs on the table. If Rachel Maddow actually had the decency to come out and say that she is in fact an Obamabot I would have more respect for her and Rhodes.
Even as a partisan for Clinton, Taylor still has a respect for Obama and gives credit where credit is due. I used to listen to Rhodes but stopped back in early January. Rhodes along with most of the hosts on Air America disgust me now. I hope they go bankrupt again.
Rhodes is and always was a moron. Anytime an intelligent caller brought up subjects that were beyond her, which was often, she was obviously out of her depth.
Whenever an intelligent caller brings up subjects that are beyond her, she invariably yells “YOU DONT GET IT!” at them and changes the subject to something she thinks she can comprehend. She will get into arguments with people who are in total agreement with her because she is always in a defensive posture. She’ll get things completely wrong and dismiss people who try to set her straight. She’s just a loud, obnoxious, self-hating woman who has apparently lost her mind- and she is no Progressive.
I am so thankful for this post. I thought I was the only one who felt upset with Randi. I have listen to Air America since its inception. Randi was always my favorite until recently. I was so upset by her rants about Hillary that I sent a e-mail to Mark Green, I also tried to call. I have reached out to people in New York that know him to let him know how I felt. I’ve e-mailed her, and tried to call her show. I now only listen to Lionel in the morning. I never thought I would say something like this but I actually listen to Fox News Radio. I find them less disgusting to liberal radio. I don’t know what happened to the Democratic Party I loved. It breaks my heart that the left of party is as disgusting as the right. Just last year, Rhodes would go on and on talking about how she had met Bill and Hillary and had been so overwhelmed by the moment; she talked about Bill’s charm and brilliance and Hillary’s grace and wit….for her to act the way she does nowadays, I have to believe there is something else going on with her. Brain damage from the attack she experienced this winter? Drugs? Her show has become aimless diatribes featuring long pauses in which she seems to be trying to recover her train of thought.
She kind of reminds me of the great ventriloquist Phil Hendrie, who was a liberal Democrat with one of the best, funniest shows on the radio….until September 11. Then he gradually became unhinged; replacing his funny voices with hour-long rants about the dangers of “Islamofascism” and praise of George Bush (and attacks on the Democrats and John Kerry.) He alienated friends like Matt Gruening and drove his listeners (and his wife and family) away, and finally retired in 2005. By that time I had given up on him. Very very sad.
The nexus of Hendrie and Rhodes (not her real name) is that both worked at WIOD in Miami. Hendrie went on to bigger and better, until he reached his Level of Incompetence, whereas Rhodes moved to ever-smaller market, peanut whistle AM’ers until Air America.
No comparing the talent level of the two. Hendrie is a pro who burned himself out, while Randi is, and has always been, a shrieking loudmouth.

I don’t listen to Air America anymore. I don’t visit most progressive blogs anymore. I think finding out that so many of the progressive blogs were no better than the Republicans they railed agains for so many years is the hardest lesson I’ve learned during this campaign. It’s pretty much killed my own desire to write about political stuff so usually I just post what others are saying.
Maybe we should have a poll of our own: The biggest phony or phoniest blog in the progressive blogsphere. It should be a tight race.
I know how you feel. I’ve been away from the blogosphere for a while and was horrified by what I began to see as I eased myself back in a few weeks ago. Clinton Derangement Syndrome has jumped from the Never-Right-Wing hate-o-sphere to the Progressive Movement, and killed it. And the Democratic Party will never recover from this; Obama’s candidacy has scarred this party forever.
I cannot believe that Rhodes does not comprehend how she is turning off dem voters. I cannot vote for Obama now, it would be a breech of all I hold decent. She really should be taken off the air. I have to agree with what you said. I have no idea what is wrong with Randi and Air Obama (and Olbermann, geez!). I was a devoted listener from Day One, then all the good hosts left, were fired, or morphed into mindless Obamabots.
I think that Obama’s strength is that no one really knows who he is, so they can project their own ideas and passions onto him and convince themselves that he represents them. Many past Presidents have this quality, and I believe it is deliberately cultivated in Obama.
Those of us who are not fooled by the pretty packaging just see an empty box.

I gave up on Air America months ago, and now listen to the BBC; it’s much more civilized. The other day I heard a great feature on Seattle’s progress in its efforts to reduce the city’s collective carbon footprint, followed by a story about how Alaska’s truly maverick GOP governor, Sarah Palin, has been working with State Senate Democrats to confront and combat her state’s GOP old boy network. It’s sort of sad that I find myself relying on the British for real news about my own country.

We aren’t dictated to by Arianna Huffington or Kos or Randi Rhodes or Rachel Maddow (”who is considered the brightest person in broadcasting- by whom?” What’s especially bright about Rachel Maddow? Is it her “Ask Dr. Maddow to look up something on Wikipedia for you” segment that has you so enthralled? The woman has no clue of how to control the inflection in her voice, which is why she sounds HYSTERICALLY excited over EVERY LITTLE THING.)
When every “Progressive” show sounds and looks exactly the same, it would be strange if we didn’t feel the same about each one. All the shows listed use exactly the same twisted talking points against Hillary- why should we consider one more valid than the other? We aren’t stupid. Six people bleating the same thing isn’t more intelligent than two people bleating it. When you hear someone say something you know is not true, then you hear it repeated by several other people, are you then convinced that YOU are the one with the issues? That’s your problem, then.
To answer your final question- yes, when people are wrong, they are wrong- and it doesn’t matter how many of them there are. No, we are not the only ones who are right, because there are other sites which illustrate the FACTS. But we ARE right.

I am so disgusted with Air America. I used to listen to them all the time, until they became Air Obama. Randi Rhodes, Stephanie Miller, Laura Flanders, are dispicable. Thom Hartmann, has even been disappointing of late. I can’t stand to turn them on anymore. I am so glad I am not alone. I really wanted them to make it, but they’ve gone so far over the edge, I can’t see them making their way back. I have fired a letter off to the head of Air America telling him how disappointed I am. Does anyone know if their ratings are down. I would think so, by the remarks on this blog. Thank God, there is a safe place to vent. Yelling at my television and radio have become typical for me. Nice to know, others are doing the same. We just have to keep letting these people know, what we think of them–they suck.

The reason why we loved Air America before, is because they were bashing the Bush Administration, and rightly so. When the campaign for President began, these people, were all saying that the Dems were well represented. Of course they have a right to their opinion, just we have the right to turn them off, if we disagree. There is stating your opinion and then there is nastiness. They have become very nasty with their comments about Hillary. Wasn’t Obama’s campaign supposed to be above the fray, and not bent towards the negative? Not doing a very good job of staying out of the gutter with their personal attacks. If he is all about uniting us, then why do so many of us feel disenfranchised? Nan, Look: we all have our personal experiences, and observations. Here, in Florida, we were told this election was just a Beauty contest, because it wouldn’t count. A lot of Edwards supporters went to volunteer in other states to help Edwards, because their vote in Florida wouldn’t count anyway.

So when this Skinny Upstart Obama won Iowa, the Clinton campaign had no Plan B.
Here she was planning to run for President for decades, but she wasn’t ready to run a campaign from day one.
It was the Clinton campaign that started circulating the Muslim smear about Obama, because it showed up on a Dem. Group e mail, posted by a Clinton advocate, with the note: Interesting, did you know about this?That was story that he was a Muslim, swore in on the Koran, wouldn’t pledge allegiance, the works.
So why would a vicious lie like this be targeting Democrats during the primary? The only beneficiary of this is Sen. Clinton.
That is when I got turned off.
Yes, Obama was above all that, and many people were admiring his restraint, and urged him to strike back, but he didn’t. Then he was called a wimp because he didn’t get nasty.

Cite a credible source on this, including the supposed Email. This story has been debunked and if you just refuse to acknowledge this, then you have no credibility. Drudge claims a Clinton staffer was circulating this, but circulating isn’t the same as putting it out…and I already know and have established here that the photo flap was started at the Freeper’s site.
It was conversation in play on 2/23/08 when Matt Drudge made his claim 2/25/08. So he didn’t scoop anything, and his comments are vague at best.
If you are going to make an argument about people being ‘blined by hate filled buzz words’ then have some fucking credibility to get your comments straight with the facts.

In one of those cases I called the Clinton campaign to scold them for being so stupid. I read the interview with the local staff chair who was clear that the woman who circulated the email was offended by the email and was making it known to their higher ups that this was circulating. She was dismissed even though she was offended by the email itself.

Actually, I found Rhodes’ monologue boring. Not funny at all. Randy is not as clever as she thinks she is.

agree. am dismayed when i read the attacks on hillary’s wrinkles, size of rear end, whatever, by women. i thought we were electing a president, not a supermodel. besides, obama’s not nearly as cute as he thinks he is.
re randi rhodes - i had never heard of her. don’t have xm. now know i will never get it. hope those who have it cancel immediately and inform xm why. let’s see where someone who’s not funny, not cute, and not nice gets a job then.
No one is as clever as Randi Rhodes thinks she is. That’s why her show is mostly aimless rambling- she’s in love with the sound of her own voice (hey, just like Rush and Sean and O’Reilly) and feels no need to actually get to a point- she figures she’ll hold her audience if she just throws out a “oh by the way, Hillary is a lying piece of crap who should withdraw” comment every so often.

Hate-filled buzz words like “monster” or “racist” are what the Obama campaign has run on since SC. Who the hell are you kidding? The hillary campaign workers who tried to push the drug and muslim angle were fired right off the bat and they were low-level employees to such a degree, Obama didn’t bother to mention them in any debate. Did Obama fire his bounty of surrogates who painted the Clintons as racists on TV? No. Did Obama blame the Clinton campaign for circulating his African garb photo after he said they had nothing to do with it in the Texas debate? Yes!
It is Obama who will lie to your face as he has about his war stance, his Rezko dealings, his oil money, his taking lobbyist money, his relationship with his pastor, his trolling (prostitute-like, I might add) for GOP voters, etc. That’s what a whore does. A whore lies to you and takes your money without remorse.

No, Obama admonished the Clinton camp for circulating that innocuous photo in a Texas stump speech AFTER saying they had nothing to do with it during the Texas debate. Dan Abrams called them on it.
How could the Clinton camp post a pic on Drudge’s site anyway? That makes no sense whatsoever.
thats because they didn’t, and only Matt Drudge can prove his assertion by publishing the email. The flap started at the FreeRepublic, and the Obama supporters have no interest in finding the source because it serves them to blame Clinton.
Its a huge part of why I will never support Obama because I’ve been in journalism long enough to fact check and dig up sources. I know where it came from. I’ve informed Obama’s campaign several times. I’ve informed all the major outlets and if they simply refuse to update the story, it won’t change the facts.
