Do you remember the video we posted on April 1 — in which Randi Rhodes called both Geraldine Ferraro and Hillary Clinton “whores”? The YouTube that our video whiz C.S. created from an ordinarily non-transferrable source, and posted at YouTube? (It’s below the fold for those who missed it.)
C.S.’s YouTube video went “viral” (writers posted it all over the blogosphere!) — and now Randi Rhodes has been suspended from Air America Radio. Here’s Air America’s official statement:

April 3, 2008New York - Air America has suspended on-air host Randi Rhodes for making inappropriate statements about prominent figures, including Senator Hillary Clinton, at a recent public appearance on behalf of Air America in San Francisco which was sponsored by an Air America affiliate station.
“Air America encourages strong opinions about public affairs but does not condone such abusive, ad hominem language by our Hosts,” said chair Charlie Kireker.

Randi Rhodes, an afternoon host for the progressive Air America radio network, was suspended Thursday after repeatedly insulting Hillary Rodham Clinton at an event last month.
Ms. Rhodes used vulgar language that likened Ms. Clinton to a prostitute at an event sponsored by KKGN, the Air America affiliate in the San Francisco area, on March 22. A video of Ms. Rhodes’ remarks was published to the video-sharing Web site YouTube on Tuesday, prompting condemnations by some bloggers.
In a statement, Charlie Kireker, the chair of Air America, said the radio network “encourages strong opinions about public affairs but does not condone such abusive, ad hominem language by our hosts.”
The network called Ms. Rhodes’ suspension “indefinite” and did not elaborate on the fate of her daily three-hour radio show. “The Randi Rhodes Show” is normally broadcast from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays. Sam Seder, another Air America host, was scheduled to fill in for Ms. Rhodes on Thursday…

Sountracking, thank you for posting another clip for people to comment. I cannot keep up with moderating some of the hateful comments that I see. I turned off the comments when the post was put up like all the recent ones because I don’t ahve the time to moderate a video blog.
I simply run the channel to help the Blogs, and all you readers, to see for yourself the footage you may have missed. I get attacked for posting the videos as if I was Hillary Clinton herself. I’ve been told I’m a DLC hack:

I am glad that she was arrogant and stupid enough to think she could get away with this. This isn’t the 20th century anymore. EVERYTHING is caught on videotape these days and she should’ve known better not to say anyhting that outrageous in public. I hope she doesn’t come back. Hire Taylor Marsh to take her spot! Haha. it’s clear to anyone paying attention that the sexist nature of the campaign against Hillary is inciting real hate that has real consequences for real women, in particular anyone so brave as to try to enter forbidden male-power terrority. Those ‘threats’ of ‘civil war’ if Hillary wins are also incitement. I know George Bush made the ugly and nasty acceptable to the public, but taking advantage of this hopefully temporary ‘cover’ for hate speech is a big mistake. It’s time for Chris Matthew to go on enforced leave until the election is over, or longer. It’s time for Keith O to be transferred back to sports reporting and banned from talking politics. RR was always the hardest to listen to because she would take a subject that the truth alone would do and spin it with imbellishments that were not factual. I consider that to be Rush’s shtick. My wife couldn’t stand to listen to her. And that childish theme song “Bounce Your Boobies” every day was over the top. I figuired that she was promoting something about her own physic that she was proud of.

… AAR is free to run their business anyway they like (within the law). Recall that this is the same brain trust that had popular vehicles (Malloy and Morning Sedition) and scuttled them.
