Tell Andrea Mitchell What You Think [Updated]
By NoQuarter on April 8, 2008 at 1:09 PM in Andrea Mitchell, Hillary Clinton, MSNBC, Media, Obamedia
I don’t know. Maybe I’m over-reacting by being appalled by Andrea Mitchell’s statement. What do you think? Does what she said bother you at all? Maybe I’m just sensitive (especially since, sigh, I am a woman).
Via Media Matters:
Andrea Mitchell: Clinton’s campaign, “right now, is not the greatest example of why women should rule the world”
Summary: After noting the title of Dee Dee Myers’ book Why Women Should Rule the World while discussing with Myers the resignation of Mark Penn as Sen. Hillary Clinton’s chief campaign strategist, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell asserted: “I don’t know — this campaign, right now, is not the greatest example of why women should rule the world.”

UPDATE I: That’s not the only harmful remark that came out of Andrea Mitchell’s mouth yesterday. Let MSNBC also know about your protests of this exchange between Mitchell and WaPo reporter Anne Kornblut.
See this paragraph from my story last night, “Washington Post: Clinton Told True Tale of Woe, Says Kin [Updated]“:
On MSNBC today [April 7], Andrea Mitchell discussed the “hospital” story with Anne Kornblut, beginning with an assumption that Hillary told the story incorrectly. As she introduced Kornblut, Ms. Mitchell said the story was “NOT TRUE” (a wild assumption about a story not confirmed). Andrea Mitchell — and every other reporter who has reported with the same biased assumptions — must retract their assumptive statements and apologize to Hillary Clinton and the campaign. See also: Digby’s commentary on the Andrea Mitchell interview of Anne Kornblut in which Mitchell says that the story illustrates a “growing credibility gap” for Hillary. (Well, so much for finding out the facts before dishing up such devastating opinions.) …
NOTE: Digby’s account includes a portion of the transcript, which will infuriate you even more.
UPDATE 2: Brigitte exposes Andrea Mitchell’s comments about the Clintons’ tax returns at her terrific blog, Reflective Pundit.

OMG. My head just exploded over this one. Mrs. Greenspan needs to GO! WTF? What a demeaning thing to say about another woman! Sheesh!
I hope it doesn’t take being a woman to know how baaaaad this statement is. What a shill she is.
right now, this presidency, is not a great example of why men should rule the world.
Thanks Mrs. Greenspan.
Not just a shill, but a discredit to the rest of her sex. Quite frankly, its even worse when this sort of thing comes from another woman. Andrea Mitchell needs to rethink who she really is and what a journalist actually does. NBC needs to know that this is abosolutely unacceptable.
She should be forced to set the record straight with her own words that she lied when she claimed Hillary lied about the hospital story.
You’ve got it, Mimi …. I need to add that as an afterword to this story. Digby also covered Mitchell well on her spreading of the lies on Hillary and the hospital story.
Not only set the story straight - but forced to apologise SINCERELY to Hillary, on national TV, for her detestable behavior.
I am so angry, I am ready to organize a filing to the FCC about Mitchell’s smug behavior. Ye Gads, what do these woman in DC use for transportation - DESIGNER BROOMS????
I completely agree that Andrea Mitchell should have to set the record straight by accusing Hillary of lying about the Hospital story when Hillary told the truth.I am apalled at the way MSNBC has treated Hillary througout this whole nomination process. They are clearly in the tank for Obama. The only time I watch that channel is in the mornings because “morning Joe” is the only anchor who gives Hillary a fair break.Andrea Mitchell is not worthy of being a journalist. She only wants to make Hillary look bad.She will probably never think any woman is capable of running this country.I do not see a problem in Hillary’s campaign,I see a problem with the DNC not playing fair by disinfranchising voters of Florida and Michigan and I would be very proud to have Hillary as our 44th president.
Amen, you are absolutely correct!!!
Mitchell should be forced to set the record straight in her own words that she lied when she claimed Hillary lied about the hospital story.
Sh emight be a clumsy campaigner at times but she’s infinitely better than Bush or McCain.
I don’t think in any way shape or form Hillary is a clumsy campaigner. It is just that the Obama campaign takes every little remark she makes and tries to turn it into a hot gossip driven media narrative which the sexist media happily play along with. If its not Bosnia it is the health insurance flap. Or it is she does not care for Katrina victims or she slighted MLK with her LBJ statement. Obama’s campaign is the dirties low down campaigning I have ever seen. And with it being Democrat on Democrat it makes it much worse. It is a scorched earth strategy. And they have done a real hit job on her and have set her up to be the fall person no matter what happens. If she gets the nomination they will claim she stole it from him with her back door smoke filled room tactics and what a bad person she is, probably taking some black votes with them. If he wins the nomination then when he loses in the fall he will again blame Clinton becasue she ran a negative campaign or she did not get oit early enough. These folks are evil and shameless and I am sick and tried of them!!!!!
Sorry for the long paragraph and run on sentences and the rant. But I just have to get this out. I am so angry at what this bunch of hatchet men and women have done to the Democratic Party, Hillary, the Clintons, and the country.
Somebody needs to give BIRDBRAIN a BIRDBATH!
Seriously, have you called the Obama campaign to say this - or even Harry Reid or Dick Durbins office.
You can reach the last two Senators toll free at 800-828-0298
Good rant - now turn it into soemthing useful and target your anger where it will do some good.
I agree! Terrified about what is going to happen
if either BO or McCain get in. Will still write-in for Hillary if she doesn’t win the nomination.
At this point I’m just getting very depressed about all of this. The media is responsible for Hillary’s tarnished image. I feel such a personal sense of insult and hurt over her treatment and I know there are millions of other women who also feel this way.
I will NEVER vote for McCain or Obama if, in fact, it comes down to those two idiots being their party’s nominees.
I am furious, pained, greatly insulted and scorned.
I am furious, pained, greatly insulted and scorned.
Yes, I second that!!!!
I feel your pain, too. If Obama is the nominee, my family will stay home in NOV. The DNC needs to be punished for their incompetence, ineptness and their silence on sexism and misogyny. Four years of Mc Cain will teach the Dems to never screw the people again! We will teach them what democracy is really about!
Ok, so here’s my idea for the fall….if (and I pray day and night that he will not be) Obama is the Dem candidate, then I will write in Hillary’s name on the ballot. This way, I do not stay home and I do not vote for McCain. It’s all I can think of to do. PS I’m in Florida and I’m so sick of my vote being tossed down the drain…..
I’m a man and I feel exactly as you do. Senator Clinton and President Clinton have been treated literally with contempt by the press and by MSNBC.
Ms. Mitchell is a prime example of why women who are married to partisan Republican shills should not be given a forum on TV. (sarcasm)
Susan:
Please take a look at my blog yesterday on Mitchell’s report on Bill and Hillary Clinton’s income. She was not expressly critical but there was an undertone of indignation. This is, of course, incredible–given that her husband collects reportedly $150,000 per speech, gives many all over, and collected an $8 million advance for his book.
Was she that indignant about the fees that Reagan and Bush1 collected? As I recall St. Ronnie commanded some really impressive fees.
Brigitte, that is a great and pithy piece of writing. FULL LINK:

I’ll add this as a second update to the story. The nerve of Mitchell.
She’s Alan (Recession) Greenspan’s wife - that means she’s too stupid for words.
I can’t add anything else as this is a family-oriented blog…the B*tch!
I will be e-mailing my strongly stated letter objecting to Ms. Mitchell’s statements and demanding an on-air apology.
Thank you for succinctly summarizing the relevant information.
Why should the nasty and thuggish antics of the MSM be a surprise? after all these are the same miscreants that cheerleaded us into invading Iraq and was Bush’s stenography corps as well.
They are scum and would be right at home working for Goebbels or Pravda.
<This is what I sent to MSNBC:
I have been a loyal watcher of MSNBC and NBC for, well, forever! I especially liked Keith Olbermann, but now I have to turn him off, his sharp words against Mrs. Clinton (and anything not Obama) are painful for me to listen to. He has no one on ever to defend Mrs. Clinton and he goes on and on, ad nauseum, with his anti Clinton diatribe. It’s so below his intelligence. (I won’t even go into the fact that Keith’s really packed on the pounds and his striped suits don’t fit….that would be getting down to his level).
I had switched from CNN to MSNBC more than a year ago. Wolf Blitzer and Lou Dobbs were a bit annoying. But honestly, I find them to be more fair in their treatment of the presidential candidates than MSNBC. I have had to switch back to CNN for my politics fix, except for Morning Joe. It is obvious that Mika is an Obama girl, but she’s not so “in your face” with her point of view and Joe Scarborough is a delight.
The addition of Andrea Mitchell to MSNBC is also annoying. She comes across as half asleep and snotty. Great combination for my lunch hour. Her comments on Mrs. Clinton are so biased, she might as well be wearing an Obama t-shirt (along with Mr. Olbermann). At least with Chris Matthews I know where he stands.
The only programs I can now watch on MSNBC are Dan Abrams and Morning Joe. At least Dan’s not wearing Obama on his sleeve. I also kinda miss Tucker.
Can we please get some NEWS reporting and enough with the one sided commentary.
”
Your husband is a great example of why old men shouldn’t make economic decisions as well.
And right now, Andrea Mitchell is not the greatest example of a woman.
I have been bemoaning the statements of Ms. Mitchell for sometime on my website, The CJ Political Report.. But let’s not forget that Ms. Mitchell is a member of the NBC/MSNBC team, and we all know how unprofessional and slanted toward Obama their reporting has been. Yesterday, for instance, Chris Matthews went ahead with a segment on his show putting HRC down for “telling tall tales” on the campaign trail, this one the hospital story, which by the time of the segment had been proven to be true. Letters aren’t going to stop what is going on on the network. They have made a decision to be The Fox News of the left. It is helping their ratings, and that is all they care about. Of course, if people don’t watch, they’ll change their tune.
I have stopped watching the Obama News Network, formerly known as NBC/MSNBC, for the most part. I occasionally watch Morning Joe and Dan Abrams. Even their regular news programming is slanted to Obama. In my opinion that will end if and when Obama gets the nomination. Tde corporate masters of General Electric will pull the plug on any support of a Democratic nominee and go all out for McCain.
I do find it strange that I am often now in agreement with Pat Buchanan and Joe Scarborough. Politics does make for some very strange bedfellows. LOL.
I agree with themocat. I have not been waching MSNBC either. They have been so pro Obama that they have practically given the nomination to Obama, a weak man without good credentials.
Obama has done nothing for his state while serving in the state senate of Illinois. He has repeatedly lied to the American people, by saying that he was a professor, that he had no idea that his minister was a radical anti american, racist and of course, he has told many whoppers and has yet to be called down for it. He has yet to hold one meeting on the war in Afghanistan and as I understand it, that is his responsiblity. He is in this race for himself not for the American people.
Obama will not win in November, he is far too weak.
You are right on target… I too believe that Pat and Joe are trying to be objective in their comments. I have quit watching Chris Matthews, (the official Obama Cheerleader.)
MSNBC is last in ratings in the cable news dept. We should stop watching NBC NEWS with Brian Williams and the Today Show. And tell Brian, Matt and Meredith you will no longer support them or their station and tell them why. Those 2 programs get big ratings and maybe they will pay attention and stop the abuse and the inaccurate reporting.
MSNBC = PORNOGRAPHY
Andrea Mitchell is simply a porn queen!
OMG! Reading that probably spiked my blood pressure!
I’m going to have to print Andrea Mitchell face out and attach it to my dart board. Or maybe I’ll stick her photo on the bottem of my shoe.
I write letters and complain about sexism in the media so much I’ve created a form letter. I just fill in the blanks and print the thing off. Which is good because I wrote it when I was calm.

Great idea. And I can add your form letter as an update to the story. (Send me an e-mail if the form letter gets posted as a comment so I’m sure to add it to the story — susanunpc at gmail dot com .)
She not only put down Hillary, she put down all women in the world with that remark. She implied that we are too stupid and ignorant to rule. And if I recall correctly, not once but twice in the interview.
I could go on a swearing rampage myself right now. That’s how angry I feel.
Fucking Birdface!
So we have both Tweetie and Birdface on MSNBC?
Yes the two birdbrains.
That is exactly right, she put down all women, which includes herself, what a dumb ass. Seriously, does she think of this when she speaks? Ann Coulter did the same thing when ranting that women should have not been granted the right to vote, they just f everything up…
I find her disgusting. She is married to what amounts to a criminal so her integrity level isn’t too high either.
Today I go back to being just “Nag”, after being NagNancy, Nancy, and 1HorseNag. Hey, I don’t have an identity crisis, just occasional political constipation.
Anyway, everytime I look at Andrea Mitchell, I picture her with Alan Greenspan and almost throw up. Now I will have something to distract me from that ugly mental picture of her: her incredibly unprofessional lies about Hillary Clinton meant to assassinate Hillary’s character. Mitchell is certainly not weighed down or held back by such a character flaw as honesty… even when the truth is staring her in the face.
When all is said and done, Andrea will still be going home at night to that little right wing prune. Maybe that’s why she’s so mean.
Larry and Susan & Co. I found some stuff this morning that will really shock all of us Democrats. It has to do with Soros and news from the FEC, as well as something called the Shadow party inside the Democratic Party. Also, another site called stop-obama.org is unpacking more about how he is using the web plus marketing. My stuff has a lot of links and please tell Taylor Marsh, because she will know the names involved as do you two!

The press knew she told the truth yesterday but they are in the bag for the health care dollar. They also hate the Clintons. 1+1=2 Kornblut sat there and knew she had the info and just kept her mouth shut. Mitchell has alway been a hack and MSNBC should be boycotted by us all…money talks and the only thing they understand.
Perhaps Ms. Kornblut cares more about being invited to soirees at the Greenspans’ home(s) than interrupting Andrea with the truth? (I don’t know, but am making a calculated guess.)
Susan I believe the following Fed. Regulation should be invoked and MSNBC be made aware that their licence could be in jepardy should they not comply.
76.209 Fairness doctrine; personal attacks; political editorials.
A cable television system operator engaging in origination cablecasting shall afford reasonable opportunity for the discussion of conflicting views on issues of public importance.
NOTE 1: See Public Notice, “Applicability of the Fairness Doctrine in the Handling of Controversial Issues of Public Importance,” 29 FR 10415 [2 RR 2d 1901].
NOTE 2: When, during origination cablecasting of issues of public importance, an attack is made upon the honesty, character, integrity, or like personal qualities of an identified person or group, the cable television system operator must perform the notice and other requirements of 76.1612.
NOTE 3: Where a cable television system operator, in an editorial, (1) endorses or (2)opposes a legally qualified candidate or candidates, the system operator must perform the notice and other requirements of 76.1613.
OMG, I would help you disseminate this, if you want. Your research is excellent, well needed and awesome. Have you done anything with this?
Under the FCC’s definition, MSNBC isn’t a cable television system operator. The Fairness Doctrine was rescinded by the FCC.
And Mr. Andrea Mitchell’s tenure as Chairman of the Federal Reserve, which has resulted in the current financial mess in this country, isn’t the greatest example of why we should have a male chairmen of the Federal Reserve. And George Bush’s tenure as President and the Iraq disaster isn’t the greatest example of why we should have a male president. And Donald Rumsfeld’s tenure as Defense Secretary isn’t the greatest example of why we should have a male Secretary of Defense. And I could go on and on but just to make a point Andrea….
My e-mails to NBC, et al are being returned as undeliverable. Anyone else having that problem?
Thanks for letting us know.
Please pop over to Media Matters and let them know. They have the means to check into this, and get us more e-mail addresses if need be. Let us know what you find out.
Media Matters also needs to call out Keith Olbermann, or else, they are just as phony as the rest.
We need to send that miserable person a letter reminding her of all the great women leaders in this world, not to mention those throughout history. Certainly no one is going to remember some birdbrain that yacks on the nightly news. We will remember Hillary Clinton and she WILL be regarded as a pioneer in the history books. But I’ve got news for you birdhead: NO ONE WILL REMEMBER YOUR NAME AND WE WON’T TIP OUR GLASS TO YOU AT CHEERS EITHER!
Excuse me, but I’m sick of these insults from the entire media. Hillary Clinton is an exemplary woman! Don’t they realize that when they attack her, they are attacking all women?
You see ladies how far we’ve come? You see how they REALLY feel about our sex?
OUTRAGEOUS!
Thank you for letting me vent.
How much are you spending on cable every month to get nothing but propaganda? Stop watching television! Don’t allow that trash to be sent into your home. You can get your news fix elsewhere.
I’m way ahead of ya! I’m at 8 weeks and counting….
remember how andrea pushed the ‘trashed the white house and took the silverware from af1′ after the clintons left the white house; she never corrected those lies.
she’s shameless in her fealty to the plutocracy.
I keep asking where are our American women leaders? Where is Diane Feinstein? We know where Pelusa (not a typo) can be found, sniffing Obama’s underarms for inspiration.
Honestly, this is shameful.
I am writing our dear Andrea. It seems to me that she is living high on the hog partially off the sweat of our taxes since we paid for her husband’s salary as Fed.
And her husband has done more damage to our country than Hillary could ever accomplish. He is responsible for our housing mess. The removed him in time to have someone else to kick around.
Oh Feinstein is over there whispering in Lieberman’s ear. She’s a Republican in the closet.
Well, my emails are getting through as I’ve had an exchange between myself and Steve Capus for half the day. I’m working on my third reply to him. He is not a happy camper.
This is his latest reply to me, which is similar to the others that I’ve received from him today.
I’m just incredulous that MediaMatters posts something - and immediately, otherwise smart people, start emailing us the same messages over and over. Please consider the sheer absurdity of the basic charge that Andrea Mitchell, of all people, is sexist. She’s had a long, distinguished journalism career — which means nothing to MediaMatters…. All they care about is politics.

Thanks for the address. And we should also write to GE. Boycott all GE products!
NBC News management is a buddy club long overdue an overhaul.
This is the insulting aspect to this whole affair. They’re probably snickering at the water cooler about what they consider nuisance emails.
The are living in the: “let them eat cake” universe of denial.
Bastille Day is coming. Whoa is it coming….
Liked
The problem is they are still snickering at the water cooler at our rage and complaints.
I think more needs to be done. Even though letters and complaints are better than nothing. What would it take to have a lawsuit? Could we form a group to raise money for this? Are there any lawyers around who would take this on pro bono or reduced fee? This should be a discrimination suit. What about ACLU?What recourse is there to violating the fairness doctrine?
Imagine what AA organizations would be doing. Media and Obama campaign evidently figure they can do this to women and have no repercussions, since we are the “weaker sex”. Ha!!
We need something stronger. It is great that we are all so encensed; now let’s do something. Media and sexism protests throughout the country. National march?
How about calls for firing of Mathews, Mitchell, Olbermann.
It’s important for them to take us seriously and, secondly, to stop them from electing Obama. They are separate and also the same issues.
Also, Clinton should take up Mathews on his offer to have her on his college tour. Maybe bring few other strong women on with her to take him on (Elizabeth Edwards?, Debbie Wasserman Schultz? Any of the amazing AA Congresswomen supporting her?)
I would also like to see Clinton make a national speech on sexism, as Obama did on racism. I think this topic is beginning to reach people’s consciousness. Let’s keep up the talk and pressure.
It’s more than time.
I loved your idea of Mrs.Clinton giving a speech on sexism. This country is more sextist then it is racist.
Here is what I wrote to Mr. Capus =
“I’m just incredulous that MediaMatters posts something - and immediately, otherwise smart people, start emailing us the same messages over and over. Please consider the sheer absurdity of the basic charge that Andrea Mitchell, of all people, is sexist. She’s had a long, distinguished journalism career — which means nothing to MediaMatters…. All they care about is politics.”
Do you hear yourself?
Please consider the basic charge that Geraldine Ferraro, of all people, is a racist or the basic charge that Hillary Clinton is a racist. What about your journalists smearing Hillary Clinton’s professional and lifelong experience and dismissing it as irrelevant?
The issue is not that MediaMatters cares only about politics, the issue is the outrageous and inflammatory remarks coming from someone we would have otherwise considered “smart”.
First Keith, then Chris and now Andrea. Disgusting.
Not old, not poor and not uneducated and no longer a viewer of MSNBC!
OK, I just sent my letter to that email.
Thanks!
Mandy
I barely even know what to say about this. I have given up on NBC/MSNBC anyway, an dI have TOLD them so (though I may have to watch Morning Joe, if he keeps up his Hillary crush), but this seems WAY beyond the pale. Coming on the heels of her despicable “reporting” on the whole hospital story really frames Mitchell’s intentions.
You know, women grow up in this sexist society, too, and just like many LGBT have internalized homphobia, so do women with sexism/misogyny. How sad, truly sad, that someone like Mitchell even has the opportunity to display that misogyny on national television. Wow…
Here is what I just sent to MSNBC & NBC, I borrowed a line from one of you, hope you don’t mind.

Re:
Andrea Mitchell: Clinton’s campaign, “right now, is not the greatest example of why women should rule the world.”
This is the final straw concerning the coverage of the Clinton campaign by Andrea Mitchell. She is supposed to be a journalist who is impartial and is reporting the news of this campaign, NOT giving her rather prejudicial opinions about what she thinks is going on within the campaign.
Andrea Mitchell — and every other reporter who has reported with the same biased assumptions — must retract their assumptive statements and apologize to Hillary Clinton and the campaign.
We no longer have real REPORTERS in the main street media, they are ALL acting like PUNDITS, trying to skew their opinions into the public at large, and influence this election for their favorite candidate.
Well, last time I looked it was the PEOPLE who elected their candidates for President NOT the media. Keep your opinions to yourself (unless you are a pundit, then you have the right to spew your stupid opinions)and just REPORT.
All of your reporters need to to go back to a remedial journalism class to brush up on some stuff they have forgotten. IMPARTIALITY!

Andrea…
Just because you are IN THE TANK with Obama doesn’t mean you have to be sexist…
If MSNBC was doing bad in ratings, I wouldn’t assume that all woman journalists like you should be blamed for it.
SUCH POOR JUDGEMENT IN WORDS.
Another example of the fair media we are dealing with. I thought Andrea Mitchell was supposed to be a serious journalist, just lost any respect I had for her.
Judging with what is going on with this administration seems to me that the ones that can’t rule the world are the men including Alan Greenspan.
Adita, the man hater, strikes again!
I’ve often found it fascinating that Andrea Mitchell has gotten away for so long with being the wife of a right-wing fanatic, all along successfully posing as an “unbiased observer”. Well, maybe not anymore!
Well, here’s my letter to MSNBC. I was a bit steamed when I wrote it.
=====================================================
I am writing concerning Ms. Mitchell and the decidely anti-Clinton slant to her
reporting.
Both today and yesterday Ms. Mitchell made snide remarks against Sen. Clinton to
dissuade listners from voting for her in the Democratic Primary.
Yesterday, Ms. Mitchell, while interviewing a Washington Post journalist,
accused Sen. Clinton about lying a story concerning a young woman dying because
she could not afford her $100 co-pay to enter the hospital. As I’m sure you
know, Sen. Clinton was correct. Where is the apology from Ms. Mitchell?
Today, while interviewing Dee Dee Myers, Ms. Mitchell twice made snide remarks
that based on the Clinton campaign there is no evidence that a women should
rule (a country).
What kind of a news program are you running? What kind of idiot reporters do
you hire? When you interview them, do you check for pro-Obama bias? Do you
check to ensure that they have a sexist misogynisitc streak and will either
insult or call Sen. Clinton names while on the air? Do you check to ensure that
they don’t have an ounce of professionalism in their bones? Once they meet all
these requirements, then they are hired?
And Ms. Mitchell, or should I say Mrs. Greenspan, has no business criticizing
others after her husband worked so hard to destroy the US economy and put us
into our current recession. As they say, “People in glass houses shouldn’t
throw stones”.
Those who can do, those who can’t report the news. Or, in the case of Mrs. Greenspan, marry it.
Was this on the same day that Mitchell’s husband, former Fed chief Alan Greenspan, publicly endorsed Senator John McCain? It’s becoming impossible to find anyone without visible bias these days in the television media. If it weren’t for the Wolf Blitzers and Anderson Coopers, we’d lose heart altogether that there is no one left who can show political neutrality while reporting the news. I find this highly unprofessional and unworthy of Andrea Mitchell; hopefully, she’ll see that and make it right, regardless of which candidate she is (privately) supporting.
Dear MSNBC,
Andrea Mitchell is the greatest example of an obama chauvinist reporter. Please fire her, so she can spend time with John McCain and her husband Alan Greenspan the bubblemaker. And while I am asking- please tell Chris Matthews to shut his big pie hole.
Thank you for your time-
I’m trying to figure out how a respected female journalist would make such a blatantly misogynist statement. Andrea Mitchell has joined Chris Matthews and his ilk at MSNBC, pretty sad.
And by the way, Hillary Clinton fired Penn because he expressed his own trade views which did not agree with her own. There was never any doubt that Clinton’s view differed from Penn. Obama was telling voters that he didn’t agree with NAFTA while at the same time he had his advisers telling Canadian officials the exact opposite. Clinton was doing what a strong boss does. Obama was LYING to voters. This is not “splitting hairs,” these are entirely different situations.
I argue with your term “well respected” snark. it’s true, I think she is a hack and has been for a long time, well before now!
Andrea Mitchell is so eat up with her status and celebrity, she’s incapable of being a journalist. But the truth is that Andrea–along with her spouse–have contributed to the new “gilded age” which they suckle for all its worth, while millions starve, go without health care, and lose their homes. Alan lies to the world about the economy, while Andrea lies to the country about the politicians.
They’re shameless courtesans to an age of empire. They are no better than the Morgans and the Astors and the rest, in their own era of corrupt greed and false class.
And, in future generations, they will be looked upon with the same level of horrified contempt.
Andrea Mitchell seems to have her own agenda and I she should not be allowed on the air any more. Her feelings for Senator Clinton are quite clear and they have no business being part of the story. This is not fair journalism. This woman is a disgrace and she should be taken off the air immediately.
Andrea, I used to think you were on top of the real issues in this country. I guess MSNBC has bought you off like the rest of the jerks on this channel. All of you slobber all over Obama and it makes me sick. Hillary Clinton has more grit and promise for America, in her little finger, than all the nasty folks insisting on her withdrawal combined. God help “US” all if Obama does get the nomination. I am trul
