Hillary says Obama is Elitist and Out of Touch

Today Hillary went right after Obama for his demeaning remarks about small town hardworking Americans. And she had every right to. Her Grandfather worked in a factory. Hillary said that Obama wronged small town people because he doesn’t know who they are or understand their needs.

Hillary hits Obama on faith, guns

Now, like some of you may have been, I was taken aback by the demeaning remarks Sen. Obama made about people in small town America. Sen. Obama’s remarks are elitist, and they are out of touch. They are not reflective of the values and beliefs of Americans. Certainly not the Americans that I know — not the Americans I grew up with, not the Americans I lived with in Arkansas or represent in New York.

She went on to take issue with Obama’s position point by point. And she nailed him on every single one of them.

You know, Americans who believe in the Second Amendment believe it’s a matter of Constitutional rights. Americans who believe in God believe it is a matter of personal faith. Americans who believe in protecting good American jobs believe it is a matter of the American Dream.

When my dad grew up it was in a working class family in Scranton. I grew up in a churchgoing family, a family that believed in the importance of living out and expressing our faith.

And then she hit him on religion. Because if there is one thing that we all know for certain, it is that Barack Obama’s religious beliefs and practices are not those of mainstream America. It’s no wonder he doesn’t understand us.

The people of faith I know don’t “cling to” religion because they’re bitter

People embrace faith not because they are materially poor, but because they are spiritually rich. Our faith is the faith of our parents and our grandparents. It is a fundamental expression of who we are and what we believe.

I also disagree with Sen. Obama’s assertion that people in this country “cling to guns” and have certain attitudes about immigration or trade simply out of frustration. People of all walks of life hunt — and they enjoy doing so because it’s an important part of their life, not because they are bitter.

And as I’ve traveled across Indiana and I’ve talked to a lot of people what I hear are real concerns about unfair trade practices that cost people jobs.

I think hardworking Americans are right to want to see changes in our trade laws. That’s what I have said. That’s what I have fought for.

Hillary made it clear that Obama wasn’t just an elitist, he doesn’t understand who most Americans are and what we believe in.

I would also point out that the vast majority of working Americans reject anti-immigration rhetoric. They want reform so that we remain a nation of immigrants, but also a nation of laws that we enforce and we enforce fairly.

Americans are fair-minded and good-hearted people. We have ups and downs. We face challenges and problems. But our views are rooted in real values, and they should be respected.

Americans out across our country have born the brunt of the Bush administration’s assault on the middle class. Contrary to what Sen. Obama says, most Americans did much better during the Clinton years than they have done during the Bush years.

If we are striving to bring people together — and I believe we should be — I don’t think it helps to divide our country into one America that is enlightened and one that is not.

Then she said the words that made me the proudest. My heart swelled with pride as she uttered:

People don’t need a President that looks down on them, they need a President that stands up for them. And that is exactly what I will do as your President.

But here, rather than have me tell you what she said, why not watch her for yourself.

Americans are the warmest most welcoming people in the world, and I have been to alot of places in the world. We, however, are a nations of laws, and that is what we want. People who come here we want them to love our country as we do, come here LEGALLY and be a part of the fabric that we have woven, to do everything we can do to take care of our own, respect people for their differences and to make our country the best it can be.

Osama Hussein wants to change our country in the wrong direction. I haven’t decided if I’m voting for Hillary or John, but this I know, I will not vote for someone who has already set our country back decades with race relations. We need unity to move forward, and it is not the unity Hussein wants.

You’ll definitely want Hillary’s healthcare plan. It is superb.

Wow, this is a great nation where anyone can grow up to run for President (unless your middle name sounds too foreign), and our race relations are on such shaky ground that one candidate can set us back decades. Well now we know.

To be honest with you, it is starting to feel like the late 60s again. All we need is Ayers to start bombing again. Hopefully he’s slower now.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-04-12 19:02:55

It certainly does feel like the late 60s — all we need to see are the retro fashions!

But the hate and discord has returned. Obama has run a very negative campaign from the beginning. He started out by insulting the 60s and 70s. And he wasn’t living on the mainland so he has NO IDEA what the hell he’s talking about. Hawaii didn’t have a civil rights struggle — wasn’t needed. (Well except for the Native Hawaiians — and the theft of their ‘aina — land.) But we don’t hear a word about the struggles of the Native Hawaiians from Obama. That’s because he was too busy going to his expensive very private school.

Late sixties, and 1982, an overlay.

Something strange comes this way, I feel tempted to pull out my old tarot cards, for some reason…

Thank you I have felt all along that Obama’s rhetoric about unity hasn’t matched up with his attacking the 60’s. I feel that he is an ageist and a liar. His whole appeal has based on exclusion. He is a race baiter in the south, a wine sipper in California, and he is setting the generations of this country against each other for his own political gain.

I think you would have to refer to him as a chameleon.

I never tire of hearing Hillary speak. It’s all heart and substance. She is consistent REGARDLESS of who she is talking to, because she is authentic. That’s the difference — I want a president that understands what life is like for us in America. That was Bill’s strength, and even moreso, Hillary’s strength. John Edward’s strength is also his authenticity. He did not change messages to suit the crowd.

Al Gore is authentic, though he was mishandled by people that kept him from being true to himself. Now that we see who he really is, he could have easily won (AGAIN) but with a wide enough margin not to be stolen.

Obama keeps changing his message dependent on who is in the audience — trying to be all things to all people. That doesn’t work for America. A candidate needs to be true to themselves, and see if that’s what America wants in a President. Sadly, the media allows unauthentic people to thrive with their crafted messages and controlled environments, instead of showing who these candidates truly are.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-04-12 19:05:35

Donna Brazil again — SHE mishandled Gore’s campaign. It is beyond me how she weaseled her way into a position of power and control in the DNC. She shouldn’t be allowed within 10 miles (or more) of the DNC.

Obama proved his worth simply in the way he handled the jobs being lost in small town America by Maytag, being shipped off to Mexico! Obama could have stood up to James and Lester Crown, both directors of Maytag and said it isn’t good that you are destroying America by shipping off these jobs and rendering the small towns in Illinois and Iowa without their major employer! Instead Obama got busy stuffing his pockets with James and Lester Crown’s money for his own self interests, obviously Lester Crown exposed the truth in telling the Chicago papers that Obama never mentioned the plant closures when they met!

Maybe it is time for Rev Wright to denounce Obama as a puppet to those greed whities atop the corporate Amerikkka!

Comment by fooj | 2008-04-12 18:52:17

Maytag! Lester Crown! The union reps that “outted” Obama’s con…

Hillary needs to hit him with these truths over and over and over again.

You know what REALLY drives me nuts? Obama talks about how America doesn’t trust Washington. Isn’t this simpleton an active, current member of the U.S. Senate? Geez…

Comment by Mel | 2008-04-12 19:01:24

Well not really, Obama has never sat on a commitee he’s the chair of, and only voted in fashions his bagmen direct him to, otherwise, he has been too busy his first year buying his mansion and his second year selling his books on tour and his third year running for President to really say he is a true Washintonite….lol

“No~Bama Speak.”(Really Jeramiah Wright Speak)

Yes..That is What I said, But that is not what I meant..it was a poor choice of words..(Like Pastor Wright uses.. ) After considering the matter for 24 hours and getting beat up by the MSM..

I now know what I meant..which is alot more in “Touch” with People..than what I really said, which is that I am still in My Chicago~”Anger” Think Mode..and I have to turn off that side of My brain..because Average White folks don’t understand that side of me..because I still keep hearing this Voice in my head going “God damn the USKKK of A.”

I forget that your Average Typical White person doens’t really think that way..So, I Must quit thinking like a Typical Black Person, because I am talking to so many White People..But then, damn, If they are so “Typical White people” Why are they here supporting me..??..This is a Side of America I was never taught About..But I Can’t admit it..because I have already said I’m standing by pastor Wright..

Wright….Black……White…Hate..Love..

Its Just so Confusing…

For years we have been for equality for all with equal qualifications irrespective of race or gender. We have not had it but we strived for it.

Now we have a Democratic Primary based on race and not qualifications. More over it is based on not counting votes (Fl and MI) just like the Gore Florida vote count. The essence of politics is to not let this stuff happen or at least get around it.

Our Democratic party has lost its way and does not deserve the support of its followers. Pensylvania followed by Indiana and the super delegates will now define our party. North Carolina, like South Carolina likely to vote on race.

So - I think a lot of middle road Democrats are watching with interest.

I’ve always said that Americans are like large, overly friendly, poorly housetrained labrador retrievers. (Yes, I know they’re great dogs and smart as hell, please don’t try to sell me on them. I am fully aware of how great they can be.)

Nevertheless, Americans are friendly to a fault, may bowl you over with affection, and rather cute in a dorky sort of way, but also piss on the carpet and knock the breakables off the coffee table with our tails.

She was great in her response in Indiana; she hit all the right points and clearly articulated why what Obama said was so demeaning, so elitist and so politically stupid.

so witty! god, I’m so impressed! geez. I can’t stop laughing. You Obama people you’re just so funny. I hate you so very much. Can you feel the love, psycho?
Sorry fellow thoughtful people. I just had to get that out of my system. I’m sure you understand. It’s just so irritating to hear maladjusted people try and pretend to understand anything in the political realm. They are so fixated on seeing who can piss the farthest rather than examining any of the issues. Now here in front of them, their messiah has fallen. And their response is not to go to the issues, to see if he has anything of merit to add to the political scene (well, of course we know they needn’t bother–because, well, we, ‘er, ‘um actually researched topics before we chose a candidate.) So here they are their little sandcastles crumpling back to nothingness as the tides of reality sweep across their polluted structures. And we sit atop the beautiful bluff enjoying the clean ocean air, saying, “isn’t it a beautiful evening tonight here in America?”

Comment by Independent | 2008-04-13 07:53:37

What does that little pout rant have to do with the other two candidates being Real elitist multi millionaires.
Just like the right wing, when you can’t attack the point you attack the messenger. Truth is truth and you don’t have it.

Comment by chris | 2008-04-13 08:08:10

your condescending attitude does wonders for your credibility. “little pout rant” and comparing someone to “right wing”…such a personal attack. Do you not have a view outside of that?

And I suppose, (clearing throat)…ehehm….you have the …’truth’?

Only rich people can run for office nowadays. It’s the elitist attitude and the failure to relate to common people that Obama is demonstrating. Both Clintons have always been able to relate to working class and poor folks. Seems Barack hasn’t figured that out yet.

In spite of this attempt to make all progressives follow the DNC Conga line, I feel, deep down in my heart that Hillary is an authentic, caring person. She listens. Elitists don’t listen, they orate.

Obama is one of those that the more he speaks the more we see of the person behind the persona. And what is being revealed isn’t pretty.

He goes to billionaire’s row to fill his coffers with cash and disses all those racist, gun-totin, bitter folks in the mid-west and then seems to be surprised when someone has the temerity to call him on it. How dare those low-income, low-information blue-collar folks question anything the “one” says.

Then he must spend time explaining to all us ignorant low-income, low-information blue-collar folks what he meant by what he said. (W.hat O.bama R.eally M.eant) But after all the drivel is said and done we know the words to this song because we’ve heard it all before; If Senator Obamba opens his mouth and sticks his foot in said orifice it is all Hillary’s fault.

The Clinton’s are the essence of the American Dream. Are they now rich and famous? Damn straight they are! Isn’t that what the American Dream is supposed to be about? About a poor kid from Hope Arkansas, from a very dysfunctional family and a Girl from a middle-class, mid-western family striving and working and being successful? And to add insult to injury they actually made 109 million dollars in the last 10 years. Get that? They earned it. Like John & Elizabeth Edwards earned it.

Not like the little twerp sitting in the White House who was born on third base and thinks he hit a home run.

The Clinton’s have earned a lot of money. Get over it. Their message seems to have remained the same over the years and the money doesn’t seem to have gone to their head. Ditto the Edwards.

What absolute nonsense to castigate someone for succeeding. No concern about Obama’s rather shady dealing to obtain the mansion that is now his domicile is there? Obama supporters have such a finely tuned set of double-standards they should try playing for weddings.

Yes, that God-damn country sent him to the Punahou School, Columbia, and Harvard Law, making an elitist out of him.

Comment by Zane Safrit | 2008-04-14 08:41:33

LOL. Hillary’s outrage…The definition of elitism is someone who’s never seen the inside of a factory, hasn’t worked an honest job her whole life, has depended on handouts, aka, donations her whole life, has lived the past 30+ years in either a governor’s mansion, the white house or as a senator. And made $100 million over the past 6-7 years and says AFTER she’s elected to the White House she’ll give a full accounting of her sources and uses of income. For goodness sakes.
