[CRITICAL UPDATE] POP Quiz: Who’s Using Republican Attack Playbook?

UPDATE: Alegre has added critical information on Barack Obama’s two new attack ads in Pennsylvania — laced with false accusations against Hillary. SEE her update at the end. - Susan
Hillary’s been accused of using the “Republican attack playbook” in her campaign to win the Democratic nomination, and as I’ve pointed out several times in the past, that’s just not the case. It’s another fabrication of her opponents and detractors that’s been picked up by the press and media for general consumption.
But I’ve got news for you gang - someone is using that playbook and I gave you a bit of background on that in last night’s post (She Didn’t Ask the Questions and He Couldn’t Answer Them). It’s loaded with examples of how downright nasty Camp Obama’s gotten in this campaign when it comes to Hillary.
Soo… it’s pop quiz time. I gave you some of the answers in the above write-up so no cheating ok? I want to see how well you were paying attention. Here’s what the campaign just posted up on their blog. Check it out…

Take the Quiz: Who’s Using the Republican Attack Playbook?
by Peter Daou || 4/19/2008 1:02:40 PM
One of the enduring myths of the Democratic primary campaign is that Hillary has been “throwing the kitchen sink” at Senator Obama while he runs a hopeful, unifying campaign. As I wrote in a blog post recently, the reality is that Sen. Obama and his top officials have been throwing the sink, the stove, the plates and the garbage can at Hillary.
Whether you’ve been following this race closely or you just tuned in, see if you can figure out who’s been using the Republican attack playbook.
Take the quiz:
Ok I’ll give you another leg up in this quiz - here are the questions so you can study up:
Who said Hillary Clinton is “literally willing to do anything to win”
Who said Hillary Clinton is attempting to “deceive the American people”
Who claimed Hillary Clinton has a secret 20-year plan to become president
Who said Hillary Clinton is “making the run for the best actress nomination”
Who called Hillary Clinton a calculating, poll-tested, divisive figure
Who called Hillary Clinton “one of the most secretive politicians in America”
Who said Hillary Clinton’s campaign is “playing politics with war”
Who said John McCain is seen as more honest and trustworthy than Hillary Clinton
Who called Hillary Clinton dishonest
Who said Hillary Clinton is “overbearing and scary”
Who referred to Hillary Clinton as “a monster”
Who said Hillary Clinton is “not being straight with the American people”
Who said of Hillary, “The American people are not going to elect a president that they do not trust”
Who claimed Hillary Clinton “consistently” and “deliberately” misleads the American people
Obama’s got most of the press and media working with him in an effort to spread the lies and misinformation when it comes to Hillary, so it’s up to us to help her set the record straight you guys. Sites like MyDD and the diaries we post help - and so do fun quizes like this.
So go take the quiz and see how you do ok? And then report back here and let us know how many you got right out of those 14 questions. Let’s see who scores the best ;o)

U P D A T E
BREAKING: Someone posted info at MSNBC on two new ATTACK ADS by Camp Obama. These ads will run in PA now through Tuesday’s primary. I won’t embed them here but you can see for yourself just how above it all Mr. Hope & Change is in all this.
NOW I understand just where all this manurfactured outrage is coming from out of Camp Obama guys. They knew they were going to go negative on us with these ads, so they had to fabricate some excuse in the lead up to the airing of these bullshit ads. This isn’t Hope and Change - this is more of the same from a hypocrite (yeah hypocrite) of the lowest order.
Don’t let them get away with this guys! Tell Camp Obama that this sort of dirty politics will not stand. He can’t trump up charges of dirty campaigning against Hillary and then pull this kind of shit.
Send Hillary whatever you can to help her buy ad time to counter this garbage.

I got 11 out of 14 - should have done better. Most of them were pretty easy. Electing Obama = 4 more years of bush-style lying.
I got 13 out of 14; I missed one that Obama and/or campaign did not do but caught the other one that Tucker said.
That’s a good lesson. And you’re a good teacher! I guess it’s too much to expect the Kool-Aid™ authorized resellers to pick this up and gain wisdom too?
Yeah….A lot of that is straight out of first edition Arkansas Project playbook, studied well by Rove and improved upon during the HIJACK of 2000. Great post….And to think it all began with HIllary hate over a silly fictional batch of cookies…
I got 12 out of 14…That hannity question tripped me up.
You ain’t alone honey! I got the same score for the same reason!!!!
Thats funyy..He ison CNN right now talking lived in PENN…Its all, “She said, She said, ” She is throwing th kithcen Sink ,She is throwing the Buffet”..etc etc..
‘Thats Ok” Thats OK..”
Oh YES…He’s the GREAT BLABBAMA…
He just go’s Blab….Blab…Blab…
It was amazing.
first he said she took more money from lobbiests and PACS than anyone in Washington.
Next he said he was going to introduce a NEW kind of politics in Washington, that avoided these low level attacks, and concentrated on the real issues.
The people in PA must realize what an idiot this guy is.
Dangit! I only scored 10/14! My jaw dropped on a couple (that I missed) that were attributed to Obama/his campaign. I need to email that quiz far and wide.
BO has a history of saying one thing and do that other. This quiz just prove it.
Ehemmm…..HYPOCRISY. n. The professing of publicly approved qualities, beliefs, or feelings that one does not really possess.
HYPOCRITE. n. a person who practices hypocrisy.
Random house dictionary….In other words what Joeysky said…
Just injecting some good news here — Hillary up by one in the daily Gallup:
http://www.gallup.com/poll/106606/Gallup-Daily-Clinton-46-Obama-45.aspx
Yes! Thanks for the good word, Kat.
Oh, I am not worry too much about his ads. It has become a habit of the Pennsylvanian to switch off their TV or turn down the volume when BO ads was on.
That is what we did in Ohio. I got pretty fast with that mute button. Anything not to listen to the bullshit. I especially loved one that said what a straight up guy he was that he passed by all those lucrative Wall Street jobs to help the poor folks in Chicago … remember that it was cold here in Ohio when we voted. So yeah, we know how he helped the poor folk in Chicago ….
And the ads are a good way to get more money from Hillary supporters…
obama, and his two mastiffs, axelrod and pouffle, are using one of karl rove’s basic plays:
accuse the opponent of doing what your campaign is doing in spades.
this diverts scrutiny from your campaign and provides it with cover to continue that conduct
and
it keeps the other side busy denying they are doing what you have falsely accused them of doing.
sweet, huh.
n.b. this tactic requires a gullible and unobservant press.
“A gullible and unobservant press” - AKA “in the bag for BO.”
poor poor Obama, no longer the shiny
On the radio last night listening to a network owned radio station on their news they mentioned one election tidbit: Obama getting one endorsement. No mention of yesterday Hillary adding three Superdelegates.
So I thought I’d do the media’s job and post the release.
On a serious note, our country is on a suicidal path if we let the forces of evil (in the metaphorical sense) steal this election.
Ciao,
G-N-G
Hell yeah! Or should I say “Hill yeah!”
The one on health care is an outright lie and circular. If Obama was running a positive campaign, by default he would not feel the need to even mention his opponent.
I can’t imagine why his campaign thinks brushing the dandruff of his suit, along with any respect people may have had for him, is an intelligent way to foster “identity politics”.
12/14,
I know that people are worried about how long this democratic primary has been going, let me promise you this, the democratic party will be united in August and in November,….I apposed the war in 2002…. says you!
BO on CNN 2:08 PST
Who me , worry?
I want this race to be driven like a Mac truck right up the convention ramp. If the Dem the party crashes on the rocks, like a ship in a storm, then so be it. The Birkenstock retreads of the DNC need tough love since they refuse to acknowledge the facts. Simply believing in change does not make it happen and hope won’t feed my family.
I couldn’t be happier that he is going NEGATIVE.
The bitter people will hunker down with their guns and bibles and not come out until Tuesday.
We got a belly full o’ BOBO here in Ohio and look how well he did here. Whoever is making these decisions is asleep at the wheel.

Morale report:
Our morale is very high (and will remain so) thanks to Captain Obama hitting the iceberg. As I sad earlier today:
The “iceberg” is Obama messing up the debate and then whining about it. Let the downward spiral to oblivion begin.
Ciao,
G-N-G
I got 12 out of 14, but only because I knew ahead of time what they were looking for.
As for the ads, BO isn’t tied to special interest??? Haven’t we already gone over this 110 times? Guess we’ll just have to keep hammerin’ (thanks, bartcop.com) for as long as it takes.
I can just imagine how they got the quote from the Times-Tribune (whoohoo!) person saying Hill would “further deep divisiveness.” An Obama campaign operative interviews someone from the newspaper and gives them a leading question: “Do you think Hillary’s negative tactics will further deep divisiveness?” All the person has to say is “Yes,” and voila! there’s the quote.
I really think a lot of this support comes from the perception that Barack is a pretty man. You certainly see swoons in a lot of women’s eyes when he approaches them on the campaign trail. Men, too. It’s weird. But I guess in our kind of culture, where looks are seen as very important, people fall for a pretty face. There’s actually scientific research based on the fact that people believe that “what is good is beautiful.”
I think Hillary is beautiful. And she will do a beautiful job running this country. Pretty is as pretty does!
Obama’s ad is correct about Hillary’s health plan.
From ABC on Feb 3 08
Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton said Sunday she might be willing to have workers’ wages garnisheed if they refuse to buy health insurance to achieve coverage for all Americans.
Clinton has not always specified the enforcement measures she would embrace, but when pressed during a television interview, she said: “I think there are a number of mechanisms” that are possible, including “going after people’s wages, automatic enrollment.”
Clinton said such measures would apply only to workers who can afford health coverage but refuse to buy it, which puts undue pressure on hospitals and emergency rooms.
So tell me how Obama is lying about Hillary’s health care plan? In fact, do a google search on his ad’s claim.
If someone doesn’t like their present health plan, they must choose one from what congress has. There are 250 different plans. With every single person having healthcare, it should really be a lot cheaper. It will come out of a person’s salary just like social security is deducted. It would be nice if they could get it down to $100 a month which would be $25.00 a week. If you don’t have everyone covered, it is not universal healthcare. If people can opt out, the price of a policy will not be low enough to make it worth it. Every civilized country has universal healthcare. The US is the only country that doesn’t. Don’t you think Americans deserve universal healthcare with no pre-existing illness clauses?
I normally just peruse this site - but after reading this claptrap I had to chime in.
The Obama ad claim is a classic case of using a half-truth. In fact, if you watched the ad, you see the words “Willing to Have Workers Wages Garnished If They Refuse to Buy Insurance.”
But here is the lie - which is left to the voiceover to tell:
It forces everyone to buy insurance, even if you can’t afford it. And you pay a penalty if you don’t.
The last paragraph in the quotation you cited as evidence puts the voiceover in dispute. The Obama ad also says that his plan saves $2500 for the typical family versus Senator Clinton’s plan, which is not true (Jonathan Gruber of MIT studied both Clinton’s UHCP and Obama’s plan, and found the opposite to be true - Obama’s plan is $1700 more expensive per person.)
That’s what makes Obama’s ad a lie.
Lost in Space
I tend to agree. But it seems to me that both sides are using half truths. That’s politics.
the problem with the acd is that it is misleading because all economic analysis of her plan indicates she has more affordability protections than his, not t mention the fact tat hemandates coverage for kids, so technically then he also forces u to buy insurance. and, of course, he is usng the right wing talking points from the 90s that undermined universal healthcare. now barack wil have no credibility as prez to get reform passed. one thing to try and undermine hillary, another to undermine the whole uhc movement, which he has done.
Not just using Right wing talking points from the 90’s but using “Harry and Louise” ads as well.
No real Democrats except Fauxgressives like Obamafan-atics would support someone like him. He’s not just another politician, he’s another lying, slimy politician. What makes him worse is the saintly proclamations about being different.
Oops forgot to admit my score was only 12 out of 14. Missed the Glen Beck one and one I thought Tucker said but was actually said by the big “O” his ownself. Good thing he ain’t Pinocchio, he wouldn’t be able to get his honker on a plane.
I have happily filled out my application to un-register as a democrat. If Dean and Pelosi think they’re going to shove this candidate down my throat they are sadly fucking mistaken.
