Disturbing GOP Vid Targets Obama on Wright

The PA primary demonstrates that the Jeremiah Wright controversy badly hurt Obama. Contrary to the finger wagging New York Times editorial, “The Low Road to Victory,” blaming Hillary for daring to wage a winning campaign in Pennsylvania, Obama was undercut mainly by his own severe problems, especially his 20 year relationship with Wright.

We now know that Obama’s Philadelphia speech on race in which he refused to disown Wright was not as the media touted a fabulous success but instead a crashing disaster. Obama’s Wright relationship has permanently alienated white working class voters, Catholics and Jews, among others. And the Republicans know it and are preparing for it.

A new 30 second video produced by a shadowy Republican group, which only contains factual footage, no commentary at all, is headed like a torpedo toward the Democratic Party is it nominates Obama. Every superdelegate should watch this video and explain why they would want every Democrat to bear this burden.

Meanwhile, down in the Tarheel state, NBC/National Journal’s Carrie Dann reports: “The North Carolina Republican Party will unveil a 30-second ad [Wednesday] that attacks Democratic gubernatorial candidates Beverly Perdue and Richard Moore for endorsing Barack Obama. The ad, per the party, will reference `controversial figures from Barack Obama’s past’ and raise the question of the candidates’ `judgment’ in supporting him. The ad will be unveiled at an 11am press conference.”

According to Dann, “The Rev. Jeremiah Wright is expected to play a starring role.”

Because of his relationship with Wright, Obama is becoming a serious drag on down-ticket Dem candidates. Why should every Democrat have to bear the burden of Obama’s recklessness?

Actually Hillary did the work for the Republicans and gave them the framework to trounce Obama in a general election. I like the way McCain condemned it (wink, wink) and asked to have it removed from the air.

The press hid this information.

You are being lead around by the nose.

Clinton could have destroyed Obama in Iowa with an ad just like this. She had the tapes and understood just how bad this could be for the party.

She held off. The press then ran the tapes in the last few weeks.

Comment by simon, too | 2008-04-23 15:43:09

Yes, I agree, Clinton could have gone negative and destroyed Obama months ago.

They aren’t bright, those bamaboys.

Comment by mimi | 2008-04-23 18:11:49

Yes, please don’t let them spin this. Clinton did not expose this. The media via the Fox Network ran the tapes. In fact, MSNBC, CNN held off from running it for days. It wasn’t until angry viewers got pissed off and demanded that they cover the story.

So don’t come talking that bullshit over here. Especially when we all know this was going to come out in the GE anyway.

What is wrong with you people? You think everyone is as stupid as you?

Self inflicted wounds on Obama’s part — shame on you to bring in Hillary into this. Hannity talked about about it for more than a year and when the videos came out, it was a problem. Moreover, who asked him to sit in that church for 20 years and call that pastor his mentor and guide? Would you? Well, not if you thought you were presidential material and were ambitious enough to go after that.

Wait for the second ad on his Illinois district. No paper trail for good or bad, eh? No defense, either.

Oh please! Operation Blame Hillary For The Landslide is well underway!

This is why Democrats lose elections- what the Republicans are doing in NC is a HUGE favor for us- a sneak preview of what we can expect if we nominate Obama. I remember the 1980s, when every Democrat was linked to Walter Mondale and Jesse Jackson. This will be far worse.

But instead of taking it as a favor, we’ll just wring our hands and cry foul and scream “it isnt faiiiirrr, it’s raaaacist” and go on to lose 46 states in November.

Oh, but we’ll still have our pride which, with $2.00, will buy you a cup of coffee at Starbucks.

Damn we are such suckers.

Unfortunately, some of his supporters, like one in my family, will not hear a bad thing about Obama. Some of them will continue to unwittingly blame it on a conspiracy. Some will just blame it on the Republicans, and unfortunately they are the ones making this ad. I”m glad they are doing it myself, but others will spin it as they always do for lack of not wanting to face up to the ugly truth about Obama.

Baby-O’s campaign has wrecked the democratic party and tried to nuke the only weapon the party had which was Peace and Prosperity during the Clinton/Gore administration….He is UNELECTABLE…Any way you cut it he is headed to POLITICAL OBLIVION and I hope he takes all his endorsers with him. This cracker will NEVER FORGIVE HIM for tearing apart the party built by FDR.

Comment by A.Citizen | 2008-04-23 14:29:20

Sadly, Barry has wrecked nothing. It’ been decades since the what calls itself the ‘Democratic’ Party has been about anything resembling FDR’s vision.

Win or lose in the GE Barry’s candidacy and or Presidency, a doubtful prospect, will help many in the party see that the party is bankrupt in it’s ideas and it’s vision for America.

Should Barry lose the GE to McSame current party ‘leadership’ will be forced to step aside.

Should he win the party will be in deeper shit as the citizenry is going to refuse to accept ‘more of the same….’

Which is all Barry will offer.

Either way the days of Pelosi, Schumer, Reid, and Dean if he doesn’t get his head straight and throw Barry under the bus are numbered.

Barry is right when he says we need change.

We just don’t need him to be part of it.

Comment by simon, too | 2008-04-23 15:50:15

Or the Clintons, if they choose, can rebuild the party.

And really, the democrats have far less to worry about then the republicans, after losing three wars, and staffed, as it is, by a bunch of toothless morons.

Really, the republicans have to get their own house in order, first, before they pretend they can take apart the democrats.

It doesnt help they lost three wars, and can’t figure out why.

A lot of the democrats know why.

Comment by Hope | 2008-04-23 17:04:34

The Democratic Party has been bankrupt for a long time. I blame a lot of this on the far-left wing fringe who can’t seem to understand that they are not in the majority. This is why we have Obama. Sickening really.

He didn’t wreck anything.

Barry just exploited the hell out of some already obvious weaknesses in a already dying Democratic party that long ago abandoned FDR’s economic populism agenda in favor cozying up to Wall Street.

Hillary is at best damage control. She might stop the bleeding but thats it, she’ll come into office with a dollar near free fall, a economy in recession, insane trade imbalances, sky high oil thats causing inflation, food and transportation costs going ever higher, and a Democratic Congress thats all but useless.

Next to him, the McGovern fiasco would look like CHild’s play. At least McGovern had some real experience and was a hero. What killed him was the moronic sycophants just like the ones Obama has. People couldn’t WAIT to make sure these little assholes didn’t pick a President. But with Obama, it’s even worse because he has horrdenous baggage and Wright is just the start of this. Wait till the Hamas ads come out. Somebody needs to pull the plug on Barack Obama. He is poison in November.

Taylor has it posted on her site. Also, NC Rep chair was just on MSNBC saying that she is going to run the ad. She said it’s about local issues and not national. She also said if the canidates for gov had endorsed Hillary, she would be doing the same thing. Again, talking heads ask if it was racist? I guess any ad featuring AA can be considered racist. If this is the case, this is going to put a lot of AA out of work. I think having Gene Robinson on television is racist.

At some point in a presidents term in office he is going to ask our brave soldiers and marines, reservists or national guardmens to place their lifes in danger. There has to be a certain amount of respect for the country shown by our leader for the country if he expects them to make the ultimate sacrifice, his relationship with the questionable cast of characters compromises that respect. Obama maybe the most patriot man in America but he is auditioning for the role of president of the United States and he has to portray an image of being deeply patriot. It is here were he just doesn’t get it. The sons and daughters of the elites he so seeks approval of do not send children in harms way it is the working class that does and by his attitudes how he can ask them to make sacrifices.

Comment by simon, too | 2008-04-23 15:56:54

deke, how do you explain Bush, and Cheney, then?

It’s my impression they don’t give a shit about the military, breaking it as they are, and well, Cheney and Bush aren’t the brightest we’ve had, it shows in teh complete failure of strategy concering Iraq, Afghanistan, well, everything.

I despise Obama for the same reasons, vapid intellect.

Comment by deke | 2008-04-23 19:37:33

Simon too thats the exact point the military initially responded to Bush/Chaney (although the military has now seen through them) because of their patriotism as phoney as it may have been. Obama goes to the other extreme by distaining any sort or patriotism. Against McCain that is a fatale flaw. Hillary has the credentials to face McCain with her bills supporting troops and reservists.

Ed Schultz encouraged Hillary supporters to call in today. Many did. Good news, right? WRONG!

The people who got through were the most spineless “supporters” imaginable. Schultz would say things like “hey, this woman promised to nuke Iran when she gets into the White House,” and the “supporter” would whine “well, yeah, I don’t like that about her…”

Schultz to another Hillary supporter: “She and Bill ran a nasty campaign in Pennsylvania..”

Caller: “Well, yeah, but…well, yeah, I didnt care for that…”

Schultz to another supporter: “Bill used the race card in SC..”

Caller: “I didn’t like that…”

Spineless, gutless, clueless weasles posing as Clinton supporters. Anyone on this blog would have ripped Schultz a new one. BTW I called into the show, couldnt even get anyone to pick up the phone.

Hillary “supporters” who called in to Schultz’s show today; You are a disgrace. You did your candidates no favors. If you don’t have the guts to argue with the host when he says something that you KNOW is wrong, just leave the phone on the receiver, ok?

Oh, and to wrap up his show, Schultz took a call from an OBAMA supporter who bitched about Hillary’s “whining about the media” and the racists in PA, of course. Wouldnt be an Ed Schultz show without at least one big serving of THAT crap.

Great idea to turn it around.

So. Do they want to drive our party into the ditch by supporting a candidate that the white middle class is rejecting in droves?

A candidate that is carrying more baggage than a Greyhound bus?

Or do they want to WIN? I am starting to think my Democratic party has a pathological fear of success.

Comment by Catriley | 2008-04-23 14:39:14

A much more troubling thought is that the Democratic nominee will go up against a guy that is considered:

1) War hero
2) Straight talker
3) Will be portrayed as squeaky clean
4) Considered moderate by most
5) Considered independent to many.

One of the things that the GOP did, either on purpose or accidentally, is paint McCain as someone not extreme enough to be their nominee. that put it into the Dems minds that he’s not as bad as Bush. That’s all bullshit, of course, but the moderate Dem voters could have problems if they are choosing between Obama and a repub they see as moderate.

The term Reagan Democrats comes to mind…. and when it comes to Hillary, I’m thinking of the Clinton Republicans from the 90s, as well as the Reagan Dems he won back to the Party. We need them to win. Dean & The Elites seem to think that their new scheme to render those swing voters irrelevant does not take into account the loss of the Hillary supporters that have been pissed off and driven away from the Party.

This is the real problem for the superdelegates who are themselves elected officials. They are on the verge of having Wright, Ayres, Rezko, etc. hung around their collective necks. They might bewilling to accept Obama as the nominee in order to placate certain segments of their electorate even though he is likely to lose the Presidency. What they don’t want is to lose their own precious little races because of him. Let’s hope they have the political acumen to recognize what’s coming. Don’t hold your breath waiting for the lights to come on, however. Democratic officials have pretty much fallen into whatever political advantages they now enjoy and become aware of political tsunamis only when they’re caught up in the waves.

From Jerome Armstrong, MyDD in Feb. 2007:

As far as Obama’s associates and baggage.. that’s his problem. Do any Obamacrats believe that the Repubs are going to go soft on him in a GE? Or on Hillary for that matter? Since when is stating the obvious destroying the Party?

The ad that you’re referring was not a smear piece; it was factually accurate and dealt with a substantive issue. It stated (factually) that Howard Dean did not have any military or foreign policy experience and raised the question (one that many had) as to whether he would be the best one to deal with dangerous people such as Osama bin Laden.

Not a smear job at all. The Dean campaign cried foul because they had no answer to the legitimate concerns that some had about him, concerns that would certainly have been exploited by George W. Bush had the Vermonter been given the Democratic nomination.

We’re gonna have to get more chairs. Scoot down, Ms. Shriver. Yes, Senator McCaskill, you can still reach Barry’s butt from there. If not, Mr. Matthews and Mr. Olbermann will be happy to pass the kisses down the line!

Wonder how many are here on OUR soil and handing cash over to someone else to donate under another name?

So how come Obama can have people living in the Gaza strip making phone calls to persons for money? I saw that clip online and on TV and yet no one has asked about this and if its allowed.

in Senator Casey’s district. From what I heard on the ground there, they were NOT impressed at all by his endorsement of Obama, that he did so because his kids liked Obama, and even though he is well-liked, it made a lot of people angry and might cost him a re-election. Hillary took Lackawanna county by 75%!

And he should loose it… he is not thinking here… Carolyn K. same thing “her kids liked him… ” he is hanging out with the wrong people and he is not good for our country how do they not read that or see it????????

KEEP RISING HILLARY RISE!

Casey supported Obama because he has a bug his ass about the way Bill treated his old man. This entire campaign is about people’s hurt feelings and axes to grind. I cannot begin to believe what a bunch of babies this party is made up of!

Casey supports the most liberal pro abortion candidate just to even a score with Bill Clinton? Ted Kennedy gets pissed off because he thinks that Lyndon got too much credit for the Civil Rights act? Is there something wrong with the drinking water in the capitol? Are they all getting early stage dimentia? They are a bunch of pathetic ninnies.

i love it….the ad about the good rev., and hillary had nothing to do with it, yet it is an ad that needs to run several times to remind people who that pig is and he’s obama’s mentor. the problem is the big aa voters in north carolina will show their obvious racism by voting for obama. its so disgusting on their part and the media wont dare say it…..

received the following “Poll” from sodahead today.

http://www.sodahead.com/poll/77869/

There’s two things about it that concern me:

1) It came to my email inbox identified as coming from Barbara Boxer
2) It actually came from the Sodahead founder

Even though the poll came as a direct question, I think the way it was phrased is EXTREMELY BIASED. I’m also upset that Sodahead is using Barbara Boxer’s name to get responses to such a poll. I believe Sen. Boxer has remained neutral in this campaign thus far.

I am asking here that all Hillary supporters do two things: 1) Complain to Sodahead that they should not use Barbara Boxer’s name (or anyone elses) for their own phishing expeditions and 2) Contact Barbara Boxer’s office and complain about this poll, and make sure they know her name was used and the context in which the question was asked. If Boxer did indeed endorse this question, I would be personally outraged.

I’m divided on whether to actually respond to the poll and show our strength. There are so many such BS internet polls, it probably matters little…except for unfortuantely the Sodahead founder’s posts probably get more page hits.

sodahead is not considered a legitimate site. Going there invites web bugs and as much spam as you can handle. You should really avoid them.
