Sign Hillary’s Petition to Make Obama Honor His Promise to Debate in North Carolina

My friend in North Carolina, who is working day and night — and often in the middle of the night, awakened by fellow Hillary volunteers to help them replace torn-down Hillary signs — has asked me to urge all of you to sign this petition:

Photobucket

Senator Clinton has shown she’s committed to hearing from voters across the Tar Heel State. That’s why she accepted a North Carolina debate.

On Monday, April 21, the debate was cancelled because Senator Obama refused to make time in his schedule. On April 23 he brushed off North Carolinians again saying, “It’s not clear that another debate is going to be the best use of our time.”

Tell Senator Obama that having a debate in North Carolina is important to you. Add your name. Make your voice heard.

Here are some of the series of stories we’ve done on Barack Obama’s failure to honor his commitment to debate in North Carolina (abetted, many suspect, by DNC chair Howard Dean), and his disinclination to debate in other important primary states such as Indiana and Oregon (not to mention Kentucky, West Virginia, Puerto Rico, and more primaries yet to come):

Please sign Hillary’s petition. Let Barack Obama — and Howard Dean — know that you want the North Carolina debate, and that the people of North Carolina deserve a debate on their soil, and about their issues.

I saw Hillary in Jacksonville today and I was impressed.
I want a debate. I’m tired of hearing Obama say the same things over and over and over but then refuse to be questioned or challenged about his assertions and promises.

Comment by J. K. | 2008-04-27 13:12:32

The problem isn’t with Barack Obama with approving debates. It wasn’t until Senator Hillary Clinton eeked out with under a 10% win in Pennsylvania she became re-interested in debating.

Senator Hillary Clinton is WORTHLESS! She cannot win a national election, and *SHE KNOWS IT!!!* DESPICABLE!

President Barack Obama … Get Used to It!!!

Comment by Lisa | 2008-04-27 21:12:38

That doesn’t even make any sense.

She was present for and kicked his ass in a televised debate on April 16th. She was perfectly happy to debate when she was behind, when the media and Obama surrogates were calling for her to quit, and when there was much ado over her trip to a war zone while First Lady.

No no, it’s Obama that is running scared. He showed himself to be petulant and sullen when not thrown softballs. He’s shown he thinks himself entitled to the kid-glove treatment and proved to be completely unprepared for any kind of earnest questioning, on “silly-season” fluff AND important issues.

She’s pressed for more debates all along. In fact, she was chastised and mocked for how many debates she advocated. It was a sign of how desperate she was for free airtime because she was broke… how desperate she was to stay relevant… blah blah blah.

How short the memories of some have turned out to be.

I’d like them to debate the Iraq exit plans. I think her exit plan will work best and his isn’t really an exit plan at all, so i’d like to hear him explain why we need 60 to 80K troops there, all those private mercenaries and why we have to let Bush’s friends keep his no-bid contracts. I think he can’t bring up the war because his plan isn’t workable. I fear he thinks we can’t exit and he’s just saying he’ll get us out to get elected.

Comment by simon, too | 2008-04-24 18:57:55

Today, Syria stated it is willing to join peace talks with Israel, but not while Bush is President.

And I found it interesting the former RNC treasurer, a big IL republican fundraiser, worked with Karl Rove to get Fitzgerald fired. Fitzgerald, currently prosecuting Rezko, also prosecuted Libby, in regard to Plame. The IL combine, of which Rezko is part, wanted to get rid of Fitzpatrick, because, you know, they don’t want to go to jail, or worse.

Same apparently for the Washington republicans, Fitz getting too close.

And I really want to know what Obama thinks of all this, I really do.

What are my chances of getting an answer?

Well, I might as well go toast a waffle, heavy on the syrup.

I want that debate, too, lot’s of questions here, that need to be answered by Obama, more every day.

And shame on every “journalist” out there, not asking these very necessary questions.

Comment by ca moderate | 2008-04-24 19:45:42

May I suggest some CNDN Maple Syrup - This might provide you better luck with getting your answer as CNDN’s seem to be the only ones the Obama camp likes to talk too.

I’d like to know his health care plans. I read his site and new instantly it won’t work. For starters, I don’t think he has a clue what a single pay policy costs when he brags he will save people 2500 a year in tax deductions. It’s chicken feed compared to the real cost. Where i am you can’t get a single pay HMO for less than the high $800s. Per month. For a family it’s close to $2k. when he says he’s going to give people a write off of 2500, he shows he hasn’t got a clue. It won’t make a dent. And to say at his site that he wont interfere with the states tells me that nothing will change since most states’ legislators are in the pocket of health care insurers. Nothing will change under his plan. Nothing. The plan is No Plan.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-04-24 19:16:40

Furthermore, too many will fall thru the cracks. I know a woman who had to quit work to care for her elderly mother. SHe has to buy health insurance. A write off will mean NOTHING to her.

Comment by simon, too | 2008-04-24 19:31:45

I agree, so many republicans are so out of touch, they feel write offs justify every cost imposed on the struggling middle classes.

Write offs don’t’ matter when you make 30,000 a year, and it would be a good start for those idiots to recognize the Bush Straussian economy is a disaster, and will bite them, too.

Someone made the suggestion today the liberals will tax tax tax taking all our money, but, without control of oil prices, prices are spiralling, seemingly overnight. Foil (I bake and cook, a lot) went from 84 to 2.39 since Tuesday, at Target, flour went up two dollars, for five pounds, every item seems to have gone up at least 40 percent — I’d rather have a system of SOME control, initiated by a clean government, as I seem to pay more when the government doesn’t raise my taxes.

And it’s going to get worse, affecting the wealthy obtuse, also.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-04-24 19:46:07

That was OBAMA’s health care plan I was talking about. Hard to tell it from the Republican plan isn’t it?

It is so far off from Universal, it amounts to nothing.

Fellow Clintonistas, Whenever you write about Pennsylvania, I encourage you to use the phrase, “Obama’s humiliating loss.” I think it will be useful to let the three words meld together across the whole of the Democratic blogosphere.

Comment by anna shane | 2008-04-24 18:52:39

plus, it’s true, all that money, for what? I think it would have been better spent on policy advisors.

Thanks, Anna! By the way, I understand that after his humiliating loss in Pennsylvania, Barack Obama has gone home to rest and lick his wounds.

Catch Rachel Maddow on MSNBC tonight? Obama didn’t LOSE in Pennsylvania! He GAINED among white men, women, Catholics, etc!

Actually, the state of IL is suffering, due to the corruption propagated by Obama’s fellow political “gangstas.”

VA nursing homes are left half empty, and the basic government infrastructure is failing because there isn’t enough money to care for it, even though IL has the highest tax rate in the nation, or Cook County does.

So maybe he could donate it back to the state, because it sure isn’t helping to win elections.

I’d also like to hear why he thinks McCain will be better than Bush. She’s for reversing Bush’s policies, it’s her main and first message, and in that way McCain will be worse than Bush, cause he has a head start, and just keeping Bush’s nutty policies in place will cause more and more disaster. I wonder who he thinks is competent in the Bush administration. I wonder who his foreign policy advisors are and if he now thinks he needs some. It could be a great debate if someone would ask him the right questions. For her we can look at her web site, and she takes questions all the time, but i don’t know what’s important to him. Specifically, I mean.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-04-24 22:00:30

Barry doesn’t have to debate. His sweaty suit might still be in the cleaners. But if he doesn’t want to debate then he should do the HONOURABLE THING and WITHDRAW HIS CANDIDACY.

Simple as that, Barry boy.

Hillary is like the brainy nerdy obedient girl in school, and Obama is the cool distracted kid smoking cigarettes out back. I always wanted to be a cool kid, but then again…I had no plans to run for President!

Obama is a wimp. He is afraid of the brainy girl. And with very good reason.

Comment by sandyR | 2008-04-24 19:15:25

Ah, Hillary’s Hermione. Nothing nerdy about her. Super smart and always has the magic to pull everyone’s rear end out of trouble. You’re only nerdy if you can never apply your smarts to real life. And just to round out the comparison: “you’re no Harry Potter Senator Obama.”
Obama’s pretty much Voldemort…. and now losing power….losing power…

I hope Obama doesn’t debate, it just proves more and more the sort of guy he is, even though it doesn’t allow for more exposures, it does show his preference of staying unknown and non-transparent!

Comment by Kourian | 2008-04-24 22:18:21

I hope Obama doesn’t debate

Maybe it won’t matter. He looks bad enough if he doesn’t debate but if he gives in - what’s the first question gonna be? It’s gonna be why he waffled so long on the whole thing. After that it’s gonna be Jeremiah and waffles and why not speak to the media, blah blah. For every day that passes he’s more and more in the shit of it.

It’s all over, Barry boy. Do the honourable thing and drop out now.

Comment by ModDem | 2008-04-24 19:29:48

Thanks for the link. I signed it. We’ll see. It would be good to see how much poise each candidate still has, how much “gas in the tank” after 20+ debates, especially after a momentum shift. I’m not holding my breath, though.

Comment by Kourian | 2008-04-25 01:19:58

I’ve thought more about this. I am aware she knows best but my instinct is to recommend she simply say ‘oh to hell with it, he’s such a loser anyway, why would anyone want to hear what he has to say when he has nothing to say’. Or whatever. In other words I think Hill should stop taking this clown seriously. If she stops maybe others will too.

Comment by may not have to leave party | 2008-04-25 01:49:58

i think maybe it’s good if he doesn’t debate. that way, the last impression of him in a debate is a total flop sweat disaster, followed by a chickenshit refusal to play any more. if he debates again, there’ll be another disaster, but he’d at least be able to pretend he has some courage. maybe better to leave it at - humiliated, by a girl….., followed by chickenshit won’t play any more.

Comment by B-Rob | 2008-04-25 07:50:02

If Obama choses not to debate, there is one reason

Scoreboard!

See, folks, this is how it works: remember the great victory you got in Pennsylvania that resulted in a 13 delegate pickup by Hill (which got reduced to 8 in the next two days as five more suers case out for Obama)? Well he is looking at something like a 20 delegate pick up in North Carolina if nothing changes.

Just as you folks need help with Michigan and Florida, you also need another shot at Obama to be within sniffing rom of 40% in NC. So what you people are essentially asking him is “Gee, Obama, why won’t you give our underachieving candidate with no money another shot to block your sun, advertise herself for free and take pot shots are you and drive up your negatives? She might be able to fundraise off that, Obama! Why won’t you help her?”

There have been 22 debates. He doesn’t need any more so why should he have another? Why waste the time preparing, the time away from campaigning to drive up his margins, just so the weaker candidate can get some free face time? Ah, now I get it! The “distraction factor”. You Hill-bots are “negotiating” from a position of extreme weakness. So, sorry folks, you don’t get to “demand” that Obama do anything!

And speaking of debates, is that whining I hear coming from the same candidate who thought she was “too good” to be on the same stage with Dennis Kucinich? Uh, huh . . . well the shoes is now on the other foot. Hillary is in the same place as Dennis was then: broke, needed free publicity, and needing to show she still matters. Well, too bad . . . because its over, Hillary. It’s simply over . . . .

Comment by Kourian | 2008-04-25 08:04:39

You sad sick fuck. You wouldn’t be here if you weren’t worried sick your precious BARRY-BOY was going under. All the major media sources are saying he’s toast. Or waffle. Even the bloody London Times says so!

So poor you. What will you do if he loses? Go back to supporting the New England Patriots? Tough game this.

But there’s another reason your despicable Mr Waffle should debate.

BECAUSE IT’S THE HONEST THING TO DO.

You see - you already know - HE CANCELED BECAUSE HE’S SCARED. JUST LIKE YOU.

We don’t want a coward in the White House. Cowards: they play mean, they play tough - just like you! But when the going gets tough they leave half a waffle and their sausage behind and skedaddle.

Your boy is a despicable coward. You’ve got a good head on your shoulders. He could probably use you in his next Illinois senate campaign.
