Lou Dobbs: I don’t understand why “the Republicans aren’t doing everything they can to get this man the nomination”

From CNN’s Lou Dobbs This Week, aired April 26, 2008, with guests Diana West, Hank Sheinkopf, and Errol Louis:

“DOBBS: I have to say that what I don’t understand. … With the antipathy towards Senator Obama that has built up over the last few weeks, for the life of me, I don’t understand why the … Republicans aren’t doing everything they can to get this man the nomination.”

My thoughts too — all along. And that’s why I believe the GOP and the conservative pundits have hit Hillary much harder, for over a year, while praising Obama: They know Obama will be far easier to beat in the general election. So Lou Dobbs and panel wonder why the North Carolina GOP is hitting Obama with attack ads at this juncture, before the Democratic nomination is settled.

Shorter me and Dobbs: DON’T LOOK A GIFT PONY IN THE MOUTH!

Actually, I think the rationales behind the GOP hitting Obama now are important, and probably smart strategy, for 1) rallying its base, and 2) raising funds for John McCain, whose fundraising has lagged badly behind both Democratic candidates. The GOP presumes that if Obama is the nominee, they need to begin firing up their reliable voting base and, the more and more the GOP can get their base to hate and distrust Obama, the more and more money will come pourin’ in.

Transcript snippets below:

FROM the Lou Dobbs This Week, aired April 26, 2008 — including portions that aren’t in the video clip above:

DOBBS: And is it - let’s go to Hillary Clinton whose narrative is now starting to move in to the national media. Diana West, is it that we have been too pro-Obama or too anti-Clinton in the national media for that narrative to be so late to the forefront of our reporting?

WEST: Well I think that the press has given Senator Obama a pass for the first year or so of his campaign. And so he’s facing questions that really should have come to him and embedded months and months ago, which is very difficult for him. I mean I think one of the things that it’s not just about Reverend Wright, we are now assembling a cast of anti-American characters including the former weatherman Bill Ayers. We have in his - also among people in his padre, Rashid Khalidi, who is a, you know, well-known apologist for (inaudible).

DOBBS: I have to say that what I don’t understand, Diana West, is this.

WEST: Yes.

DOBBS: With the antipathy towards Senator Obama that has built up over the last few weeks, for the life of me, I don’t understand why the democrats, I mean the republicans aren’t doing everything they can to get this man the nomination. You know, he…

WEST: Maybe that’s behind John McCain’s order to the North Carolina party, I don’t know, to stop the bleeding. I don’t know.

DOBBS: But it still seems that the republicans fare Senator Clinton far more.

SHEINKOPF: The stake for them - that is a major mistake. That’s not smart thinking and if the votes in Pennsylvania are any indication of what the future looks like, they look at the spread of those counties by counties in the vote, they should not - they should be really afraid of her and they should know they can take him down. That’s the difference.

::::::::::::

And here’s part of the earlier discussion, on Rev. Wright:

DOBBS: We are back now with Diana West, Hank Sheinkopf, and Errol Louis. Good to have you all with us again today. Hank, this ad with the - showing - in North Carolina by the republicans, showing Reverend Jeremiah Wright back in our faces again, back with Bill Moyers on his PBS broadcast, why won’t this guy go away? Is he trying — does he have any concept of what he is doing to Senator Barack Obama?

SHEINKOPF: What he has found is that he can extend 15 minutes of fame into 20 minutes. And he’s going to use it any way he can because he believes in the rightness of his position. No pun intended there. I mean that’s what this is all about and damn politics. What he said publicly, if you look at the quotes last week, he kind of said Barack Obama is just another politician. And he’s going to now prove that point.

DOBBS: Well, let’s take a look and listen. Let’s hear what he had to say about Senator Obama’s speech in Philadelphia. Here we go.

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

BILL MOYERS, PBS, HOST: In the 20 years since you have been his pastor, have you heard him repeat any of your controversial statements as his opinion?

REV. JEREMIAH WRIGIHT, TRINITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST: No. No, absolutely not. I don’t talk to him about politics. And so he had a political event, he goes out as a politician and says what he has to say as a politician. I continue to be a pastor to speak to the people of god about the things of god.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

DOBBS: What do you think?

LOUIS: I think it explains some of why we do find him in our face. I mean, he - especially some of his followers who set up this whole website to try to set the record straight, they have the naive belief –

DOBBS: How did they do? How did they do?

LOUIS: Well, they have this naive belief. It’s actually touching in a way that if they just have him explain it. If they just go back to the Bible. If they just talk about what goes on in church, that somehow outside political observers will look at and say, oh, that makes sense. And you know, maybe in the right context, it is not quite so offensive. They couldn’t be more wrong. If the political advisers could have them go on vacation for the next six months, I’m sure they would do it. But…

DOBBS: It is too late now.

LOUIS: Well, that’s right. And, look, they have every right, like any other American to advance their cause. If they want to try to be clear about what they think has been misinterpreted by the media, they have every right to go out and do it. If they had a better advisory team, I think they might decide whether or not this was the right time to do it. Maybe after next January they could set the record straight.

DOBBS: The best advice that any of us gets, and most of us often neglect is, just shut up. And they — they, being Jeremiah Wright, and the members of the church, will not shut up. There is also in that breathtaking suggestion that maybe there’s a double standard in this country that you can be absolutely acrimonious toward this country and have it be accepted on some basis. There is - I just have to let everybody know, there is no out in this country for those who do not respect this country. There are a lot of sins that will be forgiven, but working against this country, taking this country down will not be one of those in which you find an out for any reason at any time.

SHEINKOPF: I couldn’t agree more. Look, I had a friend for many years, a good criminal lawyer who used to tell people that no one went to jail for not saying something, not seeing something, not hearing something. And you know what, it is time for Reverend Wright, although it is very late in the game to say that I got to disappear for six months. I got to do something but every minute he shows up is another minute he takes something out of Barack Obama’s fight. It’s just that simple.

DOBBS: Diana, your thoughts?

WEST: Well, I think it also shows the extent to which Reverend Wright doesn’t say really anything wrong with anything that he had said. And I think on that sort of fork tongue messages in terms of “I as a pastor, say what, do what I have to do” and Senator Obama as a politician does what he has to do, I think it muddies the message. Does that mean that Senator Obama knows full well he is trying to repudiate something that he doesn’t really mean to repudiate? I mean, what is the message there?

DOBBS: You know what the message is. It’s straight forward. He’s saying that he’s got a job to do. It is like slicing and dicing us all by race, by demographics, by income, by geography and occupation and saying, and of course, behave as you will, because none of that matters against the greater identity, which is we are American citizens and we have a nation to preserve, protect, and defend. I don’t get how there can be this going on within the democratic party. LOUIS: Well, you know, here again, Jeremiah Wright is not within the democratic party. I mean, I don’t know what his registration may be, but he is not - he is not what you call a team player when it comes to democratic politics. I think you know, this is what you get when you get these holy men. You know — whether it is Jeremiah Wright, Dalai Lama, Martin Luther King, any minister you want, they are not going to be that helpful from a political standpoint. They are talking about or attempting to talk about something that is so far above the level of politics they’re just - it’s not going to be consistent, it’s not going to be helpful or comprehensible to a lot of folks.

DOBBS: What about Senator Obama’s responsibility here, Hank?

SHEINKOPF: Well, Barack’s responsibility - average person when you talk to the street will say, white Catholic or blue collar people will say, you know, it’s not that I left the democratic party, it’s that the democratic party left me. That was the excuse for Reagan, and that will the excuse for Obama if he’s the nominee for a lot of people, why?

WEST: Well, the biggest problem…

SHEINKOPF: The Reverend.

I’m glad you covered this Dobbs thing. I mean, it’s not as if we don’t already see it. It’s right in front of our noses. And you can’t tell me that the superdelegates don’t see it as well. That’s why the more Dean calls on them to decide, the more most of them just don’t do it. They Know. You would have to be brain dead not to know.

Comment by S. Markom | 2008-04-27 13:46:31

We do know all that. But I believe that since the GOP live in the same country as we do, they are as concerned about the possibility of Obama becoming President. It is that old expression: “Be careful what you wish for.”

Comment by Angellight | 2008-04-27 17:43:10

Like school thugs on the playground or a neighborhood Street Gang, the Clintons think that by bullying and hurling insults, they will taunt Barack into another trap — debate! Why should Barack engage in a barroom-brawl like debate to make himself look less Presidential? Besides Douglass and Lincoln were gentlemen with ethics and morals — something sorely lacking in the Clintons!

The questions that would be asked of Barack as President are not the same kind of personal attacks he would get at another debate, he is wise to decline! And, by continuing to say NO, he is showing that he is not going to be Bullied into debating for another show based on sensationalism rather than real issues and problems facing the American people today, and we really do have a myriad of problems to solve, and which must be solved! And, because Barack was Wise enough and is wise enough to point out how unfair and uneven the questions were directed at him at the last debate, they label him a “whiner” instead of someone who, and rightly so, is defending himself from a “hit job”. But, if he does this, this might expose the ones who are directing the barbs and hits and their Purpose, so they distort the truth (he’s whining) with a multitude of voices, all saying the same thing to give it power (brainwashing)! Most of the corporate media: cable news, ABC, NBC :are owned and Republican controled. They tell us what they want us to Hear, not what we need to Know to truly inform us as a society, which would “expose{ their deeds, give us power and aid in their demise! The Clintons and the Republican Spin Machine are all aligned against Barack! Both are fabricators, distorters, engage in fear and smear… there is no truth from either of the Giants only domination for their own selfish gain and not for the good of “all … they have even colloborated together for greater strength, then one will overthrow the other if they get what they want! They, the Republicans, know the Clintons have ailenated African-Americans so they are now actively courting their support while trying to elevate Hillary and deflate Barack. They MSM are not asking Hillary any of the pertinent questions, not on Iran, not on Mark Penn, although he is still on conference calls to this day, not on a pending lawsuit in California or anything elese that might damage her candidacy in the eyes of the people. They don’t ask her why, if Rev. Wright would have not been her pastor, why during Bill’s Impeachment trial, they turned to Rev. Wright for prayer and strength? Because the Republicans have an “arsenal” of ammunition they Plan and have Planned for years to use against the Clintons if Hillary somehow becomes the Democratic nominee! Then they belittle Barack’s achievement in Pennsylvania — to close the enormous gap between him and Clintons was a monumental success and not given any credit by the Republican talking-points media. Instead they ask, “do we really know who Barack is?” — They slyly ask, “why can’t he close the deal?” This after showing him bowling over and over again and stating how he cannot relate to blue-collar workers with such a low bowling score or showing skits from Saturday Night Light which casts him a poor light, along with continuing whipping of Rev. Wrght and his comments on bitter. They do not report the news anymore, they do not inform us of the true conditions in Iraq or other pertinent news but rather pass on Gossip, fit for the Enquirer Magazine or Entertainment Tonight, so far we have fallen!

And to Maureen Dowd — It is always “Darkest before the Dawn!”

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-04-27 18:03:26

Yikes! This one has really overdosed on the koolade. She thinks Barack was a monumental success in PA. How do you spell success, Barack? L-O-S-S.

This troll must be getting paid per word (or maybe it is Barack himself); but somewhere amidst all the name-calling, one question did attract my attention: why did the Clintons turn to Rev. Wright for counsel?

Well, gee, maybe because they had no idea he was the kind of person who would in the future perform simulated sex acts in the pulpit. Your turn — what kind of minister would counsel someone and then turn around later and attack that person from the pulpit while performing simulated sex acts?

I believe that the GOP has been taking full advantage of the Democratic open primaries in some states and getting its supporters to sign up to vote pretending to be independents in order to swing the results in Obama’s way. Those same “independents” will then just choose McCain in the general elections. It’s a great way to use the Democrats’ own nominating process against them.

Comment by PoliticalWaif | 2008-04-27 23:07:10

Rush Limbaugh’s “Operation Chaos” is all about GOP registering DNC for the primaries to vote for Hillary. Thereby I do not understand SusanUnPC’s comment:

“And that’s why I believe the GOP and the conservative pundits have hit Hillary much harder, for over a year, while praising Obama:”

Quite frankly, it’s just the opposite, Joe.

Well if they are cowards that way Obama will just have to get his deserts in November. It’s going to be horrible too. He has already alienated most women and and a huge portion of white America via his surrogates. The list just got added to.

Irish
Italians
Catholics
gays and lesbians
Typical White Women
Bitter Rural people
Jews

Latinos will go republican again too.

And if you look at the breakdown in PA, he even lost his upscale touch. He lost Montgomery County, Bucks County by 62-30 and the ever-touted “latte drinkers” by 54-46 (ironically the women caused this; screw you, Barry)

Obama is left with old hippies, African Americans, and college students (and not even a big enough majority of them any longer per PA).

Comment by B-Rob | 2008-04-27 13:44:45

It’s very simple. Not a single poll has shown that the “antipathy” toward Obama is anywhere near approaching that of HRC. Why would the GOP be stupid enough to promote the only Dem who gives them a run for the money, over the Dem who is polarizing, hated by independents AND who can only get the nomination by stealing it from the Black man who has run a better campaign, won more votes, won more delegates, won more states, and raised more money than anyone in history? GOPers may be silly, but they are not stupid! By any rational measure, Hillary is the weaker of the two Dem candidates. You don’t see Rush Limbaugh asking GOPers to vote for Obama in the primaries, do you?

HomeDiariesBreaking BlueE-Wire 2008Obama: Chicago Politics as Usual

Barack Obama, as it turns out, is just another old-school politician in the finest quid-pro-quo Chicago tradition.

Although Obama has worked tirelessly to promote the image of himself as a 21st Century leader “dedicated to transparency and sensitive to even the appearance of a conflict of interest,” writes the L.A. Times, he traded favors with Chicago entrepreneur Robert Blackwell Jr. during a time when Obama was struggling financially. According to the Times:

After an unsuccessful campaign for Congress in 2000, Illinois state Sen. Barack Obama faced serious financial pressure: numerous debts, limited cash and a law practice he had neglected for a year. Help arrived in early 2001 from a significant new legal client — a longtime political supporter.

On April 26, 2008, the Chicago Sun-Times published a list of people who helped to bail indicted political fixer Antoin “Tony” Rezko out of jail a week ago. On that list are Ali M. Baghdadi and Darlene Bagdadi, who put up a “two-story retail building in Chicago” as surety.

You’re joking right?

Yobama can’t even carry a state like CA, Ohio or PA. If he was as strong as his supporters claim he is, he’d have won those states hands down. He can’t close the deal with traditional Democrats.

BTW Kerry and Gore both looked good in the primary and even in the early national polling but when it came to the GE they both lost because of the GOP attack machine.

And neither had a bigoted and hate spewing Reverend as their mentor and counselor, or associated with a known terrorist, a slum lord and Saddam bagman like Barry has.

And you can be assured the GOP 527’s will put this stuff in peoples faces.

They did it to Gore, Cleland and Kerry and they will do it to the “chosen one”.

What does Obama care about?
He cares about hospitals, not the nurses that work in them and less about his cousin who is nurse, who works in them.

The following is part of a story titled “Your Money or Your Life” written by Dan Frosch, for The Nation in February, the 15th, 2005.

“Five long years ago, Rose Shaffer’s life seemed sweet. A nurse since the early 1970s, Shaffer had spent most of her 60 years working at various Chicago hospitals, rising through the caregiver ranks and raising three kids. Now in the twilight of her career, she’d been hired as director of nursing at a home health agency in the suburb of Lombard. The position made Shaffer proud - she knew her salary could pay off the mortgage on her house a little sooner. At the time, her cousin Barack Obama was fast becoming a rising star in the Illinois State Senate.

Clinton’s baggage is old, she’s been standing up to it for 2 decades (most of it is Bill’s anyways) but most importantly, her baggage is not the “hate America” brand.

The Rethugs mostest, favoritest thing EVUH is questioning the patriotism of Democrats. They can’t govern competently, they’ve got NOTHING to run ON this election but they sure as hell know something to run AGAINST when they see it. BO is the smorgasbord, the candy store, Christmas! And thanks to good folks at TUCC they’ve got film! Add in the fact that BO spends a lot of time denying that he knows his friends (Rezko/Ayres, etc), that a good chunk of Illinois state government may be under indictment by the fall and the whispering campaign (Raila Odinga, anyone) and voila — President McCain.

Anti-Zionism and Anti-Semitism

Anti-Zionism has become the most dangerous and effective form of antiSemitism in our time, through its systematic delegitimization, defamation, and demonization of Israel. Although not a priori anti-Semitic, the calls to dismantle the Jewish state, whether they come from Muslims, the Left, or the radical Right, increasingly rely on an anti-Semitic stereotypization of classic themes, such as the manipulative “Jewish lobby,” the Jewish/Zionist “world conspiracy,” and Jewish/Israeli “warmongers.” One major driving force of this anti-Zionism/anti-Semitism is the transformation of the Palestinian cause into a “holy war”; another source is anti-Americanism linked with fundamentalist Islamism. In the current context, classic conspiracy theories, such as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, are enjoying a spectacular revival. The common denominator of the new anti-Zionism has been the systematic effort to criminalize Israeli and Jewish behavior, so as to place it beyond the pale of civilized and acceptable conduct

That was the tactic early. Defeat Clinton, defeat Edwards. Vote Obama. Then as it appeared that Obama had it sewed up the GOP decided to change tactics to split the party. Maybe the GOP got greedy. (NAH, never happen?) And thought they could kill both Obama and Hillary. So they had their voters vote for Hillary, now. Extend the primary season, make them expend their money, build up animosity, troll the blogs, create chaos. Would the GOP do this? We have to decide which candidate will be the best president and candidate. And I think Hillary wins on all counts.

Each of the persons polled “just happened to be Black.” That, my friends, is why the GOP wants Hillary . . . .

Here are the facts, not the spin:

State Sen. Obama helped secure thousands in state money for a Chicago entrepreneur who had paid him as a legal adviser.

Robert Blackwell, the Chicago entrepreneur, also became an Obama donor.

Obama’s Ethics disclosure forms do not make the link clear.

William Ayers Employed Barack Obama for eight years.

The Los Angeles Times broke the ethics story in today’s paper reporting that Obama used Illinois state letterhead to request a $50,000 tourism promotion grant for a longtime political donor and employer, Chicago entrepreneur Robert Blackwell, Jr. and his company Killerspin. Obama mailed the request within months after receiving a final $8,000 per month retainer from Blackwell’s company Electronic Knowledge Interchange.

Frankly, that 8,000 a month retainer seems really really excessive, considering where Obama was career-wise, and what he provided for it. I doubt he worked that many hours on behalf of that guy, what did his time end up being worth? How much actual work has Obama done as lawyer that would warrant that type of retainer?

Another stinky fish in the barrel. Is anyone involved with him not corrupt??

Oh, and I have a feeling that with more digging there will be more favors done for that guy, because $112,000. investment for a $50,000.00 contract is bad business. I bet there’s more out there…

Then you should come to my party, there was only 2 option. it’s either President Clinton or President McCain.

Bet these are upper middle class black professionals who deserted urban commuities so they could tete 2 tete with ‘evolved’ white people like you all the while feeding the victim consciousness of the generationally poor grassroots.

You should probably be aware that hey talk about you behind your back like a typical white person.

Obama represents the final frontier for them. A validation of long needed self-esteem among whites. He will be concrete proof that they are just as good as you. Too bad with all of their professional accomplishments they can’t feel that already. I got news for them, when the honeymoon is over, were Obama to be elected, it still won’t matter. It’s up to them not to need validation from whites and instead find it in their own accomplishments.

Too bad they don’t examine Obama’s polices a bit more and wonder whether or not they will be good for ALL black people, since we ALL are supposed to be voting for him because he’s black. Some of us don’t have money.

These people especially piss me off. It was during the Clinton years that black professionals made great strides and gained respect and credibility as former President Clinton appointed minorities to high profile positions. It trickled down inot the mainstream consciousness that race should not be a factor.

I can empathize more with grassroots blacks who might feel a sense of profound disappointment if Obama doesn’t win. But your dinner friends, not so much. They should be smarter than this. It’s my bet that the grassroots will be in the end and vote Hillary.

Just goes to show you.

And I’m an AA, so don’t even start. Bessides, I think this is a made up story. You don’t seem like the type to really have any black friends.

Your poll is anecdotal and as such has no legitimacy.

And I am not sure what your point is.

If it is however, that blacks won’t vote for Hillary if Obama is the nominee there was a mega poll done by Gallup recently debunking that idea. Results were published on March 27, 2008 and was titled “Democratic Groups Most at Risk of Deserting.”

Gallup found: “Black Democratic voters, regardless of whom they support, seem prepared to remain quite loyal to the Democratic Party. Fifteen percent of blacks who support Clinton would vote for McCain if Obama is the nominee, and only 10% of blacks who support Obama would vote for McCain if Clinton is the nominee. In other words, there is little apparent risk of losing a substantial proportion of black voters regardless of who the nominee is.”

So I am not sure why Republicans would want Hillary as you suggest.

It is more likely they would want Obama as he has more baggage as indicated in the discussion moderated by Dobbs.

oh,

and speaking of barack obama, tony rezsko, and nahdmi auchi,

“rezko watch” (rezkowatch.blogspot.com) now has up

“follow the money: guess who’s coming to dinner? part 3″

given the info in this post, i think it is time for obama to be asked, and asked repeatedly,

- why he earlier claimed he did not recall being present at the rezko party for auchi and

- why he toasted auchi at that party.

Comment by simon, too | 2008-04-27 14:31:40

Which reminds me, off topic sorry, but now that you mention rezko and auchi, and other terrorist lovin folk, did groups like the weather underground, or the SLA every really go away, or did they hook up with the middle eastern kooks?

IMO, terrorists are really just plain old murderers, the use of terror makes it glamorous, they get their 15 minutes and dinner with Oliver Stone, my point being psychologically ill murderers don’t fade away, they find another place to pretend, murdering where the law enforcement isn’t as astute.

So, Larry’s post on Ayers yesterday, the advent of the Internet, the Middle East groups, like Hamas, guys like Rezko, Alsammarae, (who also contributed to Rezko’s bail) , and “charities” like the holy land foundation, the RNC, and the DNC, did all those groups meet up sort of?

A lot of money to be made, or stolen…

I’ve heard many a Republican pundit say that Dems are “too invested” in Obama not to give him the nomination.

They know there is some buyers remorse going on but they think we’re stuck with him.

I surfed in and out of the Dobbs show yesterday because I absolutely cannot stand that Diana West female dog.

I don’t often watch Dobbs because he can’t be trusted.

Remember his faux outrage over the Nancy Pelosi supposedly wanting a bigger jet than Denny Hastert had used? Absolute baloney. She hadn’t asked for anything and it had been decided to use a bigger jet because California is a little further away from D.C. that Illinois. Duh. But Dobb beat that outrage drum for 3 days.

Don’t know what to make of the whole exchange except that Democrats can get used to Reverend Wright to be front page news if Obama is the candidate. And it won’t be good news for Obama. Because while significant numbers of Obama supporters simply do not care about Wright and his rants, significant numbers of Democrats as well as Republicans do care and they don’t like it.

He sat in church for 20 years with a Pastor that said,”God Damn America”. A lot of us are not okay with that. You can damn any administration to hell and back and most will find that acceptable. We don’t support people that stand in a church and damn our country.

I have a triangular box with a folded American Flag in it sitting on my dresser. The flag is from my father’s coffin. He served in the United States Army for 25 years. He would come back and haunt me if I ever supported a man who sat still while someone damned America.

I heard the 527 Wright ad on news this morning, ( I was half asleep) and I just wanted to DIE of embarrassment. As a democrat, we not only looked stupid,(supporting such a FOOLISH criminal candidate) but unpatriotic, as well.

And I blame Pelosi, and Dean.

Comment by Dawnelle | 2008-04-27 15:23:05

Ur right of course.

Not ALL of us on the far left get the willies every time someone salutes America.

I’m quite proud of AMERICA but for sure hate this last administration (all to hell)

If the KIDS that are (totally) not paying attention can be brought up to speed by some Hillary adult along the way that will help!

My (Hillary supporting) Daughter won’t listen to me anymore if I diss Obama. She doesn’t WANT to know a lot of it.

I can see why. She lives in a world of 20 something’s and she has to LIVE in this world AFTER the election.

(I myself have lost 2 good friends over this election and it is sad)

So much of what is on CNN is a reflection of the ownership. They found something that looked simple enough to explain to their viewers that had a beggining, a middle and a lousey ending.

I don’t know which candidate the Republicans don’t want to face.

What I know as a Democrat that I will only support Senator Clinton.

The one thing that you don’t see often enough is the engaged supporters that have been drawn to her campaign. Prior to her campaign, I had never donated directly to a candidate. And I only intended to donate once. But I have been so inspired by the up hill battle that the party has put in front of her, that I have reach into my wallet for that credit card three times. Everyone here who is paying more for gas and all of the other daily essentials knows that you do that because of a BELIEF that your candidate has something unique to offer the nation.

Obama’s Arrogant New Strategy

Ignoring Hillary Clinton’s presence in the race is an attempt by a marginal front-runner to present himself as the presumptive Democratic nominee.

I have talked to Obama supporters and I really do not get them. When i ask about the 11 apts bldgs in his district with no heat in a Chicago winter, they think it was not his problem. Maybe I am from a different era. COMMON DECENCY says that your BBF is giving you money and owns apt bldg like this, you say “fix them before i take the money.” His church didn’t seem to teach much about ethics , decency , or compassion.
How anyone would want the person as president is beyond me. I think he is pond scum , and his followers better look in the mirror because he doen’t think any more of them than the people in the apt bldgs.
What a 527 ad the republican could make of that in addition of all his other liabilities.
If he is the nominee that is the end of the democratic party. Karl Rove would be so pround.

OBAMA IS WELL GROOMED AND FAR FAR FAR LEFT AND WITH THAT SAID (IT CAN NOT BE SAID ENOUGH) I THINK THE GOP THINKS HE IS EASY TO BEAT SO MOST ARE HOLDING BACK ON ALL THE GOODIES THEY HAVE COLLECTED ABOUT OBAMA. I JUST DON’T KNOW WHY HILLARY DOES NOT GO FULL SWING AT HIM. A LOT OF PEOPLE OUT HERE WOULD SUPPORT HER. IN TRUTH I FEEL ANGRY WHEN I LISTEN TO WHAT OBAMA HAS TO SAY. I HEAR WHAT HE HAS TO SAY, HOWEVER, IT IS WHAT HE IS NOT SAYING THAT INTERESTS ME. HE IS LEFT……..LEFT………..LEFT.

From the looks of things here The One is not doing very well. The blog links are almost all Obama negative.

I can’t see how he can avoid debating. He needs a great showing at a debate and can’t count on coasting to the convention. As a trivial psychic, I feel a “Scoreboard!” coming on. And Larry will have an ice cream headache soon!

I guess the Owahwah baby doesn’t have the balls his cult followers attribute falsely to him.

This is my intent, my mission, my purpose and my goal if Senator Obama is not removed from public office. Because I do not want to be placated with explainations of what people really meant to say because we should be accountable for our actions, or words, and the plots of violence made on campaign websites.

If these words were found on Senator Clintons Official Campaign site, made by supporters, towards Michelle Obama. We would be seeing “assasination attempt” all on the news, and Senator Clinton would no longer be running for President. But since it seems to be okay for Senator Obama to allow death threats, and people like Mr. Olberman can use dog whistles and turn around and just “exlplain” what he really meant.

Arrgg, that’s offensive. Obama has an obligation to condemn death threats. He has an obligation to lead his followers so that they understand that this kind of behavior is unacceptable.

But of course he is not a leader and judging from the company he keeps, he thinks violence is an acceptable way of making a political statement.

Comment by street_parade | 2008-04-27 19:36:28

Well, he certainly has an obligation to have a moderator reviewing comments on his OFFICIAL campaign site.

Sonia — a screen shot of that page would be great to keep on file. I mean honestly, a professional campaign organization that gives free-reign to posters to put anything they want, up-to and including death threats, on their official site?

You know these guys really are just plain dumb. Really, really dumb.

Lou Dobbs, is one of those people in the media that I’ve come to respect. I don’t always agree with him, but he is so damn common sense it’s refreshing. You never get the impression that the guy is a preening figure that says what gets the ratings — I can’t expect to agree with every one in the media, but I could hope to see more down-to-earth ones like Dobbs.

If the Wright brouhaha had occurred in December or January, Obama would have packed it in by now. By holding their fire, the Republicans have really screwed us. We could be going with a nominee half us do not believe can win.
