Ready to Lead on Day One

There has been much made out of Hillary’s oft-repeated claim that she is the person best suited to be President on Day One. It is a standard line in her stump speeches. But the Obama campaign and it’s surrogates have distorted the meaning of the line implying instead that this is a negative attack on the qualifications of Senator Obama. The original 3 am phone call ad was considered by the anti-Hillary crowd as implying this very thing. But let us examine the facts, shall we? Just what is it that makes Hillary so absolutely certain she is the person best prepared to be Ready on Day One?

Hillary’s recent ad Kitchen is a case in point. Her detractors state that Hillary is playing the terror card. In fact, just yesterday DNC official Donna Brazile alluded to this on This Week. But upon examination of the ad it is clear that Hillary only brings up situations that many Presidents have faced in the past, situations more than very likely to confront our next President. This is not playing the terror card. It is being realistic about the awesome responsibilities of the presidency and the real dangers that exist within this world we must lead.

Have a look.

What does this ad really show? An economy in shambles, our country attacked, a large historic city nearly destroyed by a natural disaster and her residents still in great need, high gasoline prices, a terrorist mastermind still at large and our soldiers at war. Every SINGLE issue portrayed in this ad is an issue that the next President will need to face squarely on Day One. And all the talk in the world about hope won’t change that fact.

But what has Hillary done that makes her so certain she is the right person to begin leading us out of this morass on Day One? Her detractors say that she has no real experience. They joke about snipers and ridicule her 8 years of service to our nation as First Lady. So is there an experience in the past that demonstrates Hillary’s leadership and qualifications to make the tough decisions that our next President will have to make of necessity? As it just so happens, there is.

On the morning of September 11, 2001 our country was attacked by a band of terrorists. I am certain we all remember that.

But, on that day, a story that few know unfolded. A tale that demonstrates without reservation that Hillary is a real leader that is respected for that leadership on both sides of the aisle. Because she doesn’t just talk a good game. When crises occur she has the real experience that any proven leader should have.

What follows is a short video of former Hillary Clinton staffer Ann O’Leary. She recounts what Hillary did on that fateful day. It is a tale so little known in the public arena but a tale that everyone should be aware of. It demonstrates quite clearly why Hillary is ready to be President on Day One. Because during the darkest hours of the darkest day in recent American history, it was to Hillary Clinton that her peers turned. That should speak volumes to anyone that questions her ability to be Ready to Lead on Day One.

Special thanks to HillStar Amy Pearl for sending this to me. I highly recommend that you watch the entire video:

I love the line above. I wonder if the ‘bot will emerge from their intoxication and realize that BO’s candidacy is a fairy tales next Hillary’s. He’s to be on my city council, that’s about it.

Anyone who listens to Air America knows that Operation Blame Hillary for Obama’s loss in November is well underway. No matter who the nominee is, if that person loses to McCain, it’s Hillary’s fault. Every other caller to Tom Hartman’s show today said that Hillary was tearing down Obama so she could go after the nomination again in 2012, and Hartman couldn’t bring himself to disagree.

Meanwhile, Obama continues to be treated like a Saintly figure remaining Above it All. Disgusting.

On Hannity and Colmes tonight, we see an elderly black minister who says that what Wright has said in the past (”years and years ago”) is disgusting and wrong. When Hannity asks him about Wright blaming the US Govt for creating AIDS, the minister says “um…well, you know, there were those experiments with syphillis (sic) patients…”

This is the big problem with pro-Obama “liberals:” they simply CAN’T bring themselves to just come out and say “Wright is a nut, what he says is divisive and racist and stupid and conspiracy-theory crap.” No, they have to hem and haw and give Wright points somewhere down the line. “Well, maybe the US DID have something to do with AIDS…well, slavery WAS a big issue…Well, the US IS a violent nation….well, racism still IS a big problem..”

If Obama is the nominee, expect him to be bedeviled by idiots like this preacher, who in the end will circle the wagons around Wright instead of giving him the back of their hand. Because they’d rather throw a loving protective arm around Wright than win an election.

I find the excuses for Wright’s behavior quite troubling.

Good post Pagan…..I’ve always seen Sen. Clinton as a big picture politician….President Bill Clinton and Vice President Al Gore are big picture people….We need this in Govt. and the White House. I’m fed up with the politics of Expediency ( do or say whatever needs to be done to win the next term )…
The longer she is in this race the more she reminds me of FDR and Truman.
The centrist platform that The New Democrats enacted by the Clinton/Gore administration was interrupted by the Electoral HIJACK 2000.
When BABY-O’s campaign attacks the most successful democratic presidency since FDR he attacks both Clinton and Gore. It is a foolish strategy but then the only way Obama can fight Sen. Clinton is to attack and diminish the best strategic weapon the party has and to devide the democratic base using the RACE CARD…..It’s not as if OBAMA has any experience of substance to offer…..He is a fraud.

The brutality of sheer incompetence displayed by the republicans and MOST of their democratic counterparts is breathtaking.

Why do they want to elect another public relations president, because it won’t affect them, the money is good, and running this country is easy, as long as no real work is involved?

I can only agree. Fully!

OTOH, though, Americans do have the strength to stomach and surmount horrific tragedies, and wars, hence any who thought we are/were a soft, weak people, unwilling to fight.

Americans are enraged by injustice, there is a difference.

So, what do we do to make sure another Bush and Cheney don’t come along to steal the presidency, with the help of big business, how do we make sure this never happens again?

If Obama is ready to lead on day 1, he hides it very well. Listen to his campaign speeches. He has lots of ideas and no detailed plans. Compare that with Clinton. She has goals (ideas, if you must) and when youask her how to make them happen, she has answers. Plans alone are not enough, but far better than someone (Obama) who has no clue.

One advantage of Hillary playing this card now is that it probably immunizes her against Republican attacks later.
