Where I am gas changes daily (and I don't mean by pennies) so who can say what it will be tomorrow?

Have you seen this, Larry? Great letter from 8 former DNC Chairs who support Hillary - just came out today:

I am a rail fan and here is what I think it needs:

Many more double and triple track trunk lines;

Conversion of many miles of track from wooden to concrete sleepers (ties);

Change from bolted to welded rails wherever possible.

Kids, the right-of-way was acquired ages ago. It's all low-tech grunt work.

Who's gonna do it? Chinese Gandy dancers?

Who's gonna pay for it? Damned sure not BNSF or UP.

If you could find 30-75,000 Americans who could and would actually do any real work out in the sunshine, it would be a JIM DANDY place for a WPA REDUX.

It also has a lot to do with supply and demand, and where one is in the supply chain.

The more SuperDuty's and RAM's with Diesel power, the more demand for #2.

But, mostly, they're screwing us Because They Can.

$3.58 Shirin, if I understood Hillary's "obliterate" statement correctly it only pretained to IF Iran launched a full scale attack on Israel. Kaye Bailey Hutchinson has a bill pending to "pause" the use of ethanol. It won't pass. Too bad. I find it morally repugnate to be using all that corn in a world with food riots & starvation. Let's see what Bernake does tomorrow. If the dollar wasn't in the tank you could put more gas in your tank. But if the dollar rebounds (interest rates go higher) how will we unload all that real estate inventory? It's not going to go back to how it was, ever rising housing values & cheap commodities. 666 Billion humans & multiplying

I just paid $3.63 / gal. in Honolulu. Interesting, in that Hawaii has traditionally "enjoyed" paying the highest gasoline retail prices in the United States. But now Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and Washington, D.C. are all reporting prices higher than here. What gives?

Jobs are good. People need jobs. Better, it is useful. Beats the shit out of government grants and tax breaks to "develop" {snarl!!!} convention centers in decayed inner cities and propping up the "Main Street" corpses.

Does anybody know the comparative costs of rail and truck transport including added handling? Fifty years ago almost everything moved by rail transport and was trucked locally. It is not inherently unworkable unless employee benefit requirements of the additional handlers add more than the fuel savings.
