Don’t forget to factor in rising rates for public transportation…..
In cities outside of large cities with a variety of public transportation a large section of the woring poor rely on Buses to get to work, school,
clinics and the rising rates and diminishing services can be crippling.
There are large swaths of the country where transportation is reliant almost entirely on owning a vehicle. Otherwise the poor are forced to rely on the limited bus services which can sometimes take 2 1/2 hours to travel a distance of roughly 25 miles if going cross town with bus changes. In our town it took my daughter 2 1/2 hours each morning to travel by bus and train to her school that was 25 mi. away because of cross town changes. Most of the wealthy in this country have no clue how difficult it is to be working poor.

Good questions, good answers. Thanks for your reply. I’m slow to see it because I’m on the other side of the planet (and keeping kinda strange hours lately. I slept between my comment and now.)

Fascism in Europe lasted quite a while and caused a lot (how dare I wrap up the holocaust, the Russian deaths, the fireboming of German cities and so much more in those two words, “a lot”!) of suffering and shredding of civilization, cultures and good.

There’s much more to be said if one looks back further in history and calls “fascism” by different names. “Oppression” or “feudalism” for very rough starters. Europeans had the Hundred years war. The “Dark Ages” lasted a good long while. Roman Imperialism (Thank you, Jesus and Philo of Alexandrea and John and Paul!),… our roots. (And I’m leaving out Africa, where some of the best of our roots also come from… sign of our times!)

No insult intended, but Americans are presently tending to live in a sort of fishbowl of unclear water. Many of our founders had a better, wider scope.

I must run to duties and errands. Talk with you later God willing. I’m leaving excellent questions unaddressed. I apologize. Just no time right now.

The USA is being turned into a police state

Not a police state, a failed attempt at fascism.

Those guys can’t tell their asses from a hole in the ground, Cheney has failed, LOOK at the quality of troll we have around here.

And fascist nations DO NOT survive, period.

So what’s the point?

Healthy democracies survive, but how do you get rid of the Roves and the Dick Morrises, and the lil PR firms that would be classified enemies of state, if their work came out of China? And how do you teach the American people to recognize the manufactured, artless PR scandals of a Karl Rove? And within all of this, how do you game the real enemies of the US, within a greater asymmetric “world war?”

Mindless patriotism, no, but a real appreciation for our country, and the great things it has achieved, and will achieve yes.

And also an acknowledgement of what it has done wrong, it’s sins against others, and correcting those mistakes.

Like Iraq, say.

I mean, what do we WANT as nation, what do hope to be?

I hope, it’s a progression, always, progress.

But you have to do the right thing by the country, and the country’s defense, not the right thing by Karl Rove’s plan for a permanent neocon majority, which is just loony toones amateurism, given what I’ve read.
