Jimmy Carter is another one with too much ego and not enough smarts. There’s a reason why he was the worse Democratic president in the last fifty years. And he’s widly unpopular with all the ex-presidents, Dem and Repug. Because he’s an ass, that’s why.

Comment by Shellius | 2008-05-08 23:05:23

Jimmy Carter is a great ex-president. He won the Nobel Peace prize, for pete’s sake. Just because he disagrees with people about seating MI and FL doesn’t mean he’s an ass.

Why is everyone so juvenile about this? It’s time to bring everyone together and beat John McCain. Hillary doesn’t want people behaving vindictively.

In case you haven’t heard, Obama plans to declare victory after the polls close in KY and OR on May 20.

What is really needed is a photo of Obama with a “Mission Accomplished” banner behind him. I’m sure there are some talented folks out there who could knock one of these out.

Are we sure this is true? He’s certainly going to look like an idiot if he goes through with it!

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-05-08 15:10:20

You’re right — he will look like an idiot. He hasn’t been elected and he hasn’t won the nomination. He has been acting like the KING — the presumptive winner since 2004.

When I saw that speech at the convention in 2004 — my impression was that this guy was an arrogant ASS. My first impressions are generally correct — and if he does this — then he is an egotistical ass.

As I’ve said before — there is no way I will vote for this massive disaster.

Expect NQ and other proHillary blogs to be hit hard by the snobamabots trying to tell us we need to fall into line and drink the Obama koolaid.

Comment by Talktruth | 2008-05-08 15:38:20

I think this will have the opposite effect than Axelrod is looking for (as has been the case for so many of his plans). People will think “What in the world is wrong with this man?” and come to the same conclusion you did - BO’s an arrogant, egotistical ass - and vote against him.

It’s like watching an accident about to happen, and not being able to do anything to stop it. BO and his supporters are running head-first, full-tilt into a very hard brick wall. All of us are yelling, “Excuse me, hello, you may want to veer off…” Hope some will hear before it’s too late.

Oh. My. God. I should have looked at the link. I am completely floored. All of this is UTTER NONSENSE. Who do Plouffe and Axelrod think they are? As Halperin says:

It’s a train wreck waiting to happen, with one candidate claiming to be the nominee while the other vigorously denies it, all predicated on an argument over what exactly constitutes the finish line of the primary race.

And I never saw or noticed that the DNC had reworked the number of number of delegates needed, based on not counting MI and FL. I’m not a political wonk and never saw it pointed out explicitly until now.

The Obama campaign agrees with the Democratic National Committee, which pegs a winning majority at 2,025 pledged delegates and superdelegates—a figure that excludes the penalized Florida and Michigan delegations. The Clinton campaign, on the other hand, insists the winner will need 2,209 to cinch the nomination—a tally that includes Florida and Michigan.

Of course it does! Someone needs to do a story on this, and get everyone up to speed on the particulars. WHAT A TRAVESTY! They will not get away with this.

Here’s some more of the Politico article (thanks again, Blue State Girl):

“We don’t accept 2,025. It is not the real number because that does not include Florida and Michigan,” said Howard Wolfson, one of Clinton’s two chief strategists. “It’s a phony number.”

Wolfson said they intend to contest the DNC’s 2,025 number “every day,” as well as any declaration of victory made by Obama based upon that number, because it does not include Florida and Michigan.

Obama will not reach the 2,025 magic number on May 20. Rather, on that date he is all but certain to hit a different threshold—1,627 pledged delegates, which would constitute a winning majority among the 3,253 total pledged delegates if Florida and Michigan are not included.

“On May 20 we’re going to declare victory,” said an Obama senior advisor who asked that his name be withheld to speak candidly, adding that after those contests they will be “the ones with the most pledged delegates and the most popular votes…”

“Senator Obama, our campaign and our supporters believe pledged delegates is the most legitimate metric for determining how this race has unfolded,” wrote Obama campaign manager David Plouffe Wednesday in a memo to superdelegates. “It is simply the ratification of the DNC rules - your rules - which we built this campaign and our strategy around.”

http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0508/10184.html

NOT THE VOTES, BUT THE PLEDGED DELEGATES. THIS IS TOTAL BULLSHIT!

Comment by Catriley | 2008-05-08 14:47:11

David Plouffe Wednesday in a memo to superdelegates. “It is simply the ratification of the DNC rules - your rules - which we built this campaign and our strategy around.”

Therein lies the issue. The Obama campaign has been in cahoots with Dean & The Elites all along. The fact that Axelrove teaches Trippi/Dean’s campaign strategy in his classes, tells you all you need to know about the mechanism here. They are blowing air up Dean’s skirt by validating the ridiculous new DNC strategy, and have been richly rewarded with extra delegates for North Carolina and Indiana (though Obama managed to lose that one — the DNC expected him to win it), and not penalizing South Carolina, but excluding Michigan and Florida.

Big Ego Dean wants his ridiculous strategy to be successful, and the Obama campaign have been drooling sychophants for it… that’s why they get all the support from the DNC and Hillary is treated like shit.

Comment by Talktruth | 2008-05-08 15:55:02

Obama has been smoking way too much of his own hopeium

May 8, 2008

Aide says Obama plans to declare victory on May 20

“You can declare mission accomplished but that doesn’t mean that the mission has actually been accomplished,” Wolfson said.

Wolfson is an amazing master communicator for the amazing master politician Hillary Clinton. Wolfson’s remark sums up everything succinctly and perfectly!

Hillary will hang tight, she’s got a huge base of support and I got news for Obama, by pushing that he will “declare victory” on May 20:

If the Hill campaign ever needed the perfect way to raise funds, Obama just handed it to them.

It’s no bother if that’s some form of a trial balloon, Hillary can squeeze that childish balloon for 20 million dollars. In essence, Obama just handed Hillary the tools she needs to make it to the finish line. He has been making some very serious miscalculations which is no surprise, knowing the history of his extremely bad judgment. His arrogance will be his undoing.

And since Obama can’t debate Hillary and can only cheat and blackmail to try and win, Hillary looks that much more the only choice for Commander-in-chief and President. The delegates know this, and we will convince them to do the right thing. It’s not that complicated and we can, will and must win — America’s future as a free nation depends on it.

Comment by JKFriz | 2008-05-08 13:24:36

If Obama’s such a loser, and the Clintons are such winners, then why is Obama winning by every possible measure (popular vote, delegates - both including MI and FL, btw)? And the MI and FL delegations will be seated, but it won’t make one lick of difference in the final outcome.

Comment by Catriley | 2008-05-08 13:29:42

If Obama is such a winner.. then why the fuck are you here? I think Obama may need help shredding confetti for his coronation on May 20th.

Comment by Patriotic Lion | 2008-05-08 13:33:26

Why, I ask, for the hundreth time, are Obamabrats so obtuse?

Comment by JKFriz | 2008-05-08 14:47:34

From http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/2008/president/democratic_vote_count.html

Popular Vote (w/FL & MI)** Obama +87,283 +0.25%

Estimate w/IA, NV, ME, WA* Obama +197,505 +0.57%

Homework done.

Feel free to find me a creditable popular vote count that conflicts with this one. And I won’t even touch the intellectual dishonesty of counting an unsanctioned one-candidate race in MI as part of this.

Comment by Dave | 2008-05-08 16:10:47

Your popular vote total is perfectly accurate. Obama is currently up by 1/4 of 1 percent (virtually nothing) until Tuesday when Clinton wins W. VA. She will win the actual popular vote.

As for Michigan, it was not a one candidate race. All the Democrats were on the ballot except Obama and Edwards. Both had their names removed to pacify Iowa and New Hampshire and to weaken the appearance of Clinton momentum in what was a sure win for her. He received the benefit for this, he should also have to pay the price.

I don’t care what you think about me. In politics it’s just a question of mind over matter. I don’t mind, because you don’t really matter.

And that goes for the so-called Democratic Party, Obama and all his suppoerters.

WIN WITHOUT ME!

Comment by Catriley | 2008-05-08 13:25:56

As I posted yesterday:

What do Kerry, Kennedy, and McGovern, have in common = Losers.

Bill Clinton = Winner (twice)

Add to that Jimmy Carter’s resounding thud in his re-election bid.

The DNC and the party elites don’t have a clue, do they? They’re throwing millions and millions at the SAME losing strategy that guarantees our failure once again, rather than admit that Dems have to appeal to the MIDDLE, instead of the far left, in order to get the White House. Twice.

And yes.. I heard the ludicrous bullshit that Obama will claim victory on May 20th. Wow.. who knew it was so easy to elect yourself KING! Guess all the other Democratic candidates that went along with the RULES and took their case to the convention (with LESS than what Hillary has right now) would have LOVED to proclaim themselves KING and save the expense.

Obama and his handlers are scared shitless every single day that Hillary is still a viable choice. THey, and the GOP-controlled media, are afraid that more and more of his skeletons will keep popping out of the closet before it’s too late to dump him from the election. What are they so scared of??? Why do they REFUSE to even ACKNOLWEDGE that Hillary is far ahead of ANY of those other candidates that took the fight to the convention?

Is it also because they are frightened that the Obama supporters will riot, as promised, if it goes to convention??? Thereby completely screwing the Party for years to come? Who the hell would want to be a Democrat if it means burning things, overturning cop cars, and hurting people, and looting, if your candidate doesn’t get the nomination? Aren’t threats of violence actually terrorist threats?? Is that what they’re afraid of? That the world will see what type of voter coalition the DNC has put together for our future?

What are you afraid of??

Comment by Patriotic Lion | 2008-05-08 13:40:38

They are afraid of losing. They have invested their time into Obama and their egos won’t let them let go. Its not that complicated. They know what we know about Obama. As do the delegates. And it is the delegates who will make the decision and not them. That must really bother them a lot. And that explains really why they are here: they are lobbying their own egos since they know they can’t change the outcome.

Its time for the grownups to grab a hold of this puppy and propel Hillary to the nomination. End game is here.

Hillary is inevitable!

Message from Bill Clinton, sent today:

I want to tell you about the day I had on Monday. I stopped in nine towns throughout North Carolina, starting the day at 7:30 a.m. in Elizabeth City and ending with a rally in Raleigh. That’s the most stops I’ve ever done in a single day — for any campaign. And I couldn’t be happier to work that hard for Hillary.

I talked to a lot of people that day, and one thing was crystal clear — people want Hillary to stay in this race until every last voter has a say. That’s why Hillary and I are working so hard. That’s why we’ve made a deep commitment to keep campaigning, keep fighting, and keep winning.

We have had a lot of success in this campaign, and our come-from-behind victory in Indiana is the latest example of how Hillary wins when she has your support behind her. As long as you share her commitment to winning, this race is going to continue.

Our next test is just five days away in West Virginia. Hillary needs your help right now to keep winning.

Contribute now to help us show the strength of our campaign.

I know something about coming back to win after you’ve been counted out. So does Hillary. Over the course of this campaign, the pundits have tried to declare a premature end to the race dozens of times.

Well, last time I checked, it’s still up to the voters. And there are a lot of voters who haven’t had their say yet.

It’s up to us to make sure that the voters in West Virginia and the other states yet to come are given a choice. I urge you to act now to help Hillary keep fighting.

Show your support by making a contribution today.

I wish I could talk to every last person who has worked so hard for Hillary to thank you for everything you’ve done for her. You mean so much to both of us. She’s still in this thing because of your hard work and your indomitable spirit.

Sincerely,

Bill Clinton

—end—

OK.. Look at this from BTD and counter their fuzzy math with this reality. How many more are thinking this and falling for the misinformation?

It looks less definitive than I thought it would. Here is Chris Bowers’ analysis:

[W]ith Florida seated as is, Clinton trails by 95 delegates when the Michigan Party’s plan is enacted. Further, since Edwards has declined to make an endorsement, his 32 delegates are now effectively uncommitted superdelegates. So, this means that the best case-scenario for Clinton right now is that she trails by 95 delegates with 550.5 delegates remaining. So, even in Clitnon’s best case scenario, Obama only needs 228 of the remaining 550.5 delegates, or 41.4%, to win the nomination.

Obama still needs 41.4% of the remaining delegates with this FL/MI plan? I thought the math was worse than that for Clinton.

NOT THE VOTES, BUT THE PLEDGED DELEGATES. THIS IS TOTAL BULLSHIT!

Worry for not, we will work around any hurdles and don’t forget, by Obama childishly declaring victory prematurely, he just handed Hillary the PERECT fundraising tool. :) See my comment above:

Obama has been smoking way too much of his own hopeium

I for one am voting for McCain while pinching my proboscis if my home state is disallowed. Jimmy should go back to peanuts, his Peter-principle level of skill-set.

Obama bye bye,
please don’t cry.

Dry your eyes,
cause here come your dad with your Muslim guys.

You still have Michelle,
even though America she repels

Listen to her talk,
it all the whites fault!

live in your mansion,
work on your Hamas expansion

for your hate needs,
Race will be your feed.

Call on your pastor Wright,
He will lead your fight!

i got something better for u guys

someone at hillaryclintonforum ,,e-mailed to donna brazile ,,

and here is her respose

Donna Brazile responded to my letter about switching my party affiliation

——————————————————————————–

I am greatly disturbed by this primary. I am a Hillary supporter (I consider myself part of the base democratic supporters) and after many months of thinking about it I have decided to switch to the republican party.
I sent a letter to Donna Brazile today telling her of my decision and the exact reasons I was leaving.

Here was her reply to me:

Honestly, this is the 9th email today, so I believe you’re ready to not only
destroy Roe versus Wade, voting rights, civil liberties and civil rights.
Perhaps adding trillions more to the deficits through non stop tax cuts to
the wealthy and 100 more years in Iraq.

Yes, please join Rush and McCain asap. The train has left. Catch it.

Please don’t send these emails to working people like myself. Notice you
sent it to my campus address. I am a working class person. Can you find
someone who drinks latte?

Message to the base: stay home.

So sloppy and unprofessional - how much does she get paid by the DNC?

What kind of troll are you?

You could try flowery language to get a similar point across, otherwise your closing statement undermines the point you try to make.

Is Hillary Clinton the only Democrat you guys Don’t bash?

Comment by jes | 2008-05-08 14:32:32

We only bash the arrogant back-stabbing morons who call themselves Democrats. We do not walk in lock-step like the Obama kool-aid drinking cultists.

We look at every person and every issue on its own merits.

I love the concept of this article, Susan. You go! :)

An article detailing our call to electoral arms from this moment until we have won the nomination in August. Obama has absolutely no place to hide now, and it is time to rhetorically take he and his uncritical supporters to the proverbial woodshed:

‘Hell”‘is about to be unleashed against Obama

Clinton supporters and all those opposed to Obama, now is our time to, as the movie Gladiator so eloquently put it, “unleash (metaphorical) hell” against the fatally damaged and ready-to-be-put-out-of-its-misery Obama nomination campaign.

All hands on deck for the coming offensive.

I like the shirt, but i think that Walter Mondal endorsed Hillary Clinton. If that is true, the shirt should replace the name Mondale with the name Carter. It would be unfair for Walter Mondale to be signalled out this way.

Comment by it'snotme | 2008-05-08 14:37:15

Mondale withdrew his Hillary endorsement yesterday and told Hillary to drop out. He now supports Mr. Hope.

Comment by workingclass artist | 2008-05-08 15:00:58

Fuck Mondale…Fuck Carter…Fuck Mcgovern…Fuck em!

I’ve been saying it for a long time, and the T-shirt is a great idea:

Obama is supported by the “First Losers Club” of men who have run for the presidency and failed - Kerry, Kennedy, Dodd, Richardson, Mondale, MCGOVERN!

He is in fitting company, and he’ll fit right in at the club when he too becomes a member either this summer, or in November.

Comment by Mr.Murder | 2008-05-08 14:07:53

Carter is entitled to his opinion. He also served honorably in armed service. Same as McGovern, a man who was and remains a Wes Clark supporter, by the way.

Guys who were right about arguments but wrong about elections don’t compare to the present chump. Obama’s patron Teddy Kennedy has as much to thank for Carter’s loss as anyone. The same man who ushered John Kerry onto our electoral process. If only Hillary would drop out early like all of those running against Kerry did, the Unity Pony Express could travel forward!!

Howard Dean learned his lesson on that, why can’t Hillary? The 48 state strategy is in place!!
