The Cruelty of Obama’s Strategies, Including Robbing the American People of an Honest Discussion about Policies

We already know that Barack Obama and campaign have robbed the Democratic primary of an honest discussion about the policies. Besides the coward’s fear of facing Hillary Clinton in any more debates — and blowing off the entire state of West Virginia by refusing to hold a SINGLE CAMPAIGN EVENT in that state — he and his campaign use RACE as the great divider.

They are using race by:

  • either propelling African Americans to feel that they must vote for him or be accused of betraying their own race
  • or playing on white guilt to force well-meaning but naive Democrats into feeling they must vote for him to expiate their ancestors’ past sins.

Now Barack Company Inc. is attacking John McCain by using his age against him, and the McCain campaign is calling him out on it — and in so doing, EXPOSED what the Obama Inc. strategy is ALL ABOUT. GOOD for you, Mark Salter and John McCain:

To: Interested Parties
From: Mark Salter, Senior Advisor

Re: Senator Obama’s Attack Today

First, let us be clear about the nature of Senator Obama’s attack today: He used the words ‘losing his bearings’ intentionally, a not particularly clever way of raising John McCain’s age as an issue. This is typical of the Obama style of campaigning.

We have all become familiar with Senator Obama’s new brand of politics. First, you demand civility from your opponent, then you attack him, distort his record and send out surrogates to question his integrity. It is called hypocrisy, and it is the oldest kind of politics there is. …

It is important to focus on what Senator Obama is attempting to do here: He is trying desperately to delegitimize the discussion of issues that raise legitimate questions about his judgment and preparedness to be President of the United States.

Through their actions and words, Senator Obama and his supporters have made clear that ANY criticism on ANY issue — from his desire to raise taxes on millions of small investors to his radical plans to sit down face-to-face with Iranian President Ahmadinejad – constitute negative, personal attacks.

Senator Obama is hopeful that the media will continue to form a protective barrier around him, declaring serious limits to the questions, discussion and debate in this race.

Senator Obama has good reason to think this plan will succeed, as serious journalists have written of the need for ‘de-tox’ to cure ’swooning’ over Senator Obama, and others have admitted to losing their objectivity while with him on the campaign trail.

Today, Senator Obama is complaining about comments John McCain made about a senior Hamas advisor stating that Hamas would welcome Senator Obama’s election as president. Indeed, on April 13th, senior Hamas political advisor Ahmed Yousef said, ‘We don’t mind – actually we like Mr. Obama. We hope he will (win) the election and I do believe he is like John Kennedy, great man with great principle, and he has a vision to change America to make it in a position to lead the world community but not with domination and arrogance.’

The McCain campaign has never suggested that Senator Obama supports Hamas’ agenda, but it is more than fair to raise this quote about Senator Obama because it speaks to the policy implications of his judgment.

Just today, the president of Iran, whom Senator Obama wants to meet with unconditionally, called the state of Israel a ’stinking corpse.’ Iran is the paymaster and state sponsor of Hamas.

In his victory speech this week, Senator Obama stated that ‘wisdom’ is meeting with our enemies, including Iran’s Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, North Korea’s Kim Jong Il, Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and Cuba’s Raul Castro. John McCain couldn’t disagree more. Rather than giving tyrants and dictators the prestige of meeting with an American president, John McCain will instead meet with the champions of human freedom around the world and opposition leaders fighting for liberty .

We understand why Senator Obama doesn’t want to engage in a debate over leadership and judgment with John McCain, but the American people demand that debate take place.

These are serious times that call for a serious debate on the profound issues facing our future. John McCain is ready for that debate and we hope Senato <<image003.jpg>> r Obama will one day get serious and join it.

– Source: The McCain Campaign, via The Page blog at Time magazine.

THERE ARE numerous issues which the Obama campaign can use to counter McCain’s candidacy. But instead of playing fair, they’ve repeatedly misquoted his statements on Iraq, and are now trying to smear him because of his age.

Another friend — who I hadn’t heard from in a while — called me last night. This friend went to grad school in Berkeley, and is about as far left as one can get without veering off into the extremist territory of the likes of William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn.

This friend astonished me by telling me that she plans to vote for John McCain in the fall, so disgusted and repelled is she by the tactics and dishonesty and corruptness of the Obama Inc. machine.

Thank god there are a few of us — actually many millions of us — who see through the manipulations:

Good for the McCain campaign. Obama needs to be called out on everything and from all directions.

Well, the bamster could always strike that GQ pose, give McCain the finger, and tell the press he’s just decided to declare himself President, with his “New Democratic Coalition” of Dean and Brazille.

Isnt that what Obamas do, like the one in Africa?

That worked well.

And smart, taggers are smart.
Push that accelerator, burn that rubber, Bama…

Cribbing directly from McCain’s talking points is a new low. This is false outrage at its worst - on the order of getting mad about the word “periodically” - and you should be ashamed for claiming to care about issues when your own post promotes the kind of empty “gotcha” politics we’ve been dealing with the entire campaign.

I look forward to new posts like “Why We Should Stay in Iraq for 100 Years” and “Why a Woman Shouldn’t be Able to Make Decisions about Her Own Body.”

I’m not going to support a candidate who ran a campaign as corrupt and brutal and offensive as this schmuck.
His lame blog operatives think they can spit on people and they’ll just turn around like a lemming and say “no hard feelings.”
Try doing that to your boss (if you ever have one) and watch what happens.

Obama supported Roberts until he was told, for political reasons, it would hurt him. Look it up. Also take a look at who is being talked about as his likely AG.

No one is pulling those troops out of Iraq. It contains the second largest oil reserves in the world. Enough of the nonsense.

As for the economy: oil is headed to $140 - $150 a barrel by the end of the year and $150 - $200 over the next 24 months no matter who is elected. The next president is very likely a one-termer.

Comment by John | 2008-05-09 13:40:32

Yeah choice is going to be removed, just like it was under President Reagan, President Bush I and President Bush II. Just like it was when the GOP controlled all three branches of the Federal Government.

Grow up, nobody’s buying it. If the GOP had a 100-seat majority in the House, a 70-30 margin in the Senate, and a 9-0 shutout in the SCOTUS, they wouldn’t touch abortion rights. As for the war and economic issues, I can’t imagine what Senator Hopey Changey is going to do to improve matters.

Give it a rest. You aren’t convincing anyone here. Was this Obama’s master plan- to convince Hillary supporters after months of treating their candidate like crap, using surrogates in the media to slander her and use sexist BS to drag her down, win the nomination, and then use “McCain will ruin everything!” to bring us back “home?”

Well, fuck you. We aren’t battered spouses here. We know how to walk away from abuse rather than reward it.

If you really cared about the issues you mentioned, you would have supported Hillary- you know, the candidate who could actually beat John McCain- instead of a newbie Senator with zero experience and nutcase friends.

Comment by JKFriz | 2008-05-09 13:54:41

See below for REAL sexist B.S. - murky “dog whistle” sexism is one thing, but McCain’s a little more direct.

“If you really cared about the issues you mentioned, you would have supported Hillary- you know, the candidate who could actually beat John McCain- instead of a newbie Senator with zero experience and nutcase friends.”

So, if I really cared about ending the war, I would support the Democrat who voted for it? That makes a lot of sense, pal.

Comment by John | 2008-05-09 14:13:51

Barack Obama in 2004: “I don’t know how I would have voted if I had been in the Senate at the time…”

but like a good little Obamabot, you only see what you want to see and you only hear what you want to hear. So when Obama NOW tells you he’s always been against the war, you lap it up and stand there on your hind legs begging for more kibble.

Meanwhile, he continues to vote to FUND the war. But it’s not what he does, it’s what he SAYS, that counts with morons like you.

I notice how you ignored my other points. Good dodge. But obvious.

Comment by Jeff | 2008-05-09 14:41:48

“I notice how you ignored my other points. Good dodge. But obvious.”

I’ll start this by saying I rarely respond to “points” that include the phrase “fuck you”. Try restraining yourself for 5 minutes. You’ll be amazed at the results.

Now I’ll respond to your latest points–minus the cursing and personal attacks.

“Barack Obama in 2004: “I don’t know how I would have voted if I had been in the Senate at the time…””

Right, in response to a question posed by Tim Russert about how Obama squared his opposition to the war with that of the nominees of his party, Kerry and Edwards. It was a perfect opportunity for Obama to humiliate the men who had made him keynote speaker at the convention, by calling them out on their war vote. It’s amazing Obama didn’t take the opportunity.

“Meanwhile, he continues to vote to FUND the war. But it’s not what he does, it’s what he SAYS, that counts with morons like you.”

First of all, why is it OK that Hillary votes to fund the war, but not that Obama does the same? Why does the pro-Hillary argument always boil down to “He’s just as bad as her!

Having watched Hillary vote to send the troops into war, should Obama have stuck the knife in deeper by depriving them of financial protection?

Comment by John | 2008-05-09 14:55:52

So….Obama LIED about his opposition to the war, to protect Kerry and Edwards. Got it. And that’s fine with you. Because it’s Barack, The One Who Can Do No Wrong.

“Why is it ok that Hillary votes to fund the war, but not that Obama does the same? Why does the pro-Hillary argument always boil down to ‘he’s just as bad as her?”

Total Projection on your part. YOU are the one who is promoting Obama based on his anti-war rhetoric. When called on it, YOU are the one who says “hey, she’s just as bad as he is!”

Total disconnect from reality, Jeff. Total fail. I wonder- did you even read your reply before hitting the “Add comment” button?

Before you reply, please let me know all the other times that Barack intentionally lied because it was good politics to do so.

Better yet, just slink away with your tail between your legs. I really don’t want to keep up a conversation with someone who has no trouble twisting logic into a knot to prove a “point.”

Comment by Jeff | 2008-05-09 15:06:24

“I really don’t want to keep up a conversation with someone who has no trouble twisting logic into a knot to prove a “point.””

Then stop replying to me and asking me questions. I’m not the one who’s bothering with you, buddy. Have a nice weekend.

I witnessed the Obamabrats in full force in a caucus in WA state — you bastards are absolutely vile — you are all traitors to this country.

This country that my father served in the US Navy. You assholes spit on the graves of the heroes who gave their life — because they believed in America.

You asshole don’t believe in freedom and liberty — you want to FORCE your authoritarian blind belief in a Narcissistic bastard down our throats.

That isn’t what America is about. Given a choice between a thieving traitor like Obama and a patriotic hero like McCain (with all of his warts and ego) I will vote for McCain US Navy retired.

So Jeffie go to hell — and peddle your sexist, hateful garbage elsewhere.

I donate to Hillary because I know she will rise above the filth that is Obama and his believers.

This is already happening because the CURRENT DNC and DEMOCRATIC party CHOOSE not to impeach this president.

Obama is being crowned the nominee and I for one will not vote for him. I don’t like being called unpatriotic when I disagree with Bush and I don’t want to continue being called racist when I disagree with Obama.

How come Obama is not called a racist when he said “typical white person”?

It’s a way to block Barry O.

McCain at least has experience and gravitas ( nice shot, BTW, on the news of your candidate modeling jeans with one leg perched on the arm of the airplane seat, showing his crotch…very presidential,) and I’ve yet to catch McCain in a flagrant lie.

And no. I won’t vote for Obama should he select Hillary as his running mate. That won’t work.
You’ve lost us. For good.

Very old news. All is forgiven. The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Comment by JKFriz | 2008-05-09 14:31:23

I’ve tried for about 5 minutes to come up with a cliche more trite and nonsensical than “the enemy of my enemy is my friend,” but haven’t had much success.

Sometimes the enemy of your enemy is, in fact, also your enemy. McCain has a well-documented history of making these kinds of sexist remarks, leading up to the present day; anyone who’s genuinely offended by misogynistic politicians would never vote for the guy.

Comment by Vanessa | 2008-05-09 15:23:07

McCain is openly sexist. Obama is underhandedly sexist. Difference? = 0.

I will not vote for a racist charlatan. The irony is that I, personally, benefit more from many Republican policies than Democratic ones. I have always voted Democratic Party because I, personally, believed in the moral superiority of those policies.

The Democratic Party has lost all moral credibility with me. They have also lost my vote in November.

Comment by JKFriz | 2008-05-09 15:32:09

I’m sorry, but the above comment is completely reprehensible; I’d ask you what Obama or the Obama campaign has said or done that remotely equals that.

Comment by Vanessa | 2008-05-09 15:39:39

If you have to ask, you haven’t been paying attention.

What is reprehensible is the hypocrisy of Obama, his campaign, and most of his supporters.

A lot of hotheads right now in both camps loudly say they will vote for McCain if their candidate is not crowned by the superdelegates. What percentage do you think will follow through and actually vote for McCain? Five? Ten percent maybe? The problem now is getting Democrats from the “losing” side to come out an vote for the winner.

Particularly Obama’s “supporters” are driving away the votes that he needs in November solely so he can get the nomination. Given Rovian tactics, how many of Obama’s online supporters would even be genuine? I’m begging to wonder if some are actually Freepers now.

BRAVO!!!!!!!!! to Senator McCain for his calling out the Obama campaign’s use of ageism against him. I have often thought that Hillary treated Obama with kid gloves and rarely took them off in this campaign. She is a lady. But Obama took advantage of it and whined and cried and cheated his way to his current lead.

If Obama is the nominee McCain will take him on. And U for one will look upon it with secret glee!!!! If Obama thinks Hillary or ABC treated him unfairly - he ain’t seen nothing yet. The dear in the headlight look that advisor had when interviewed by Neil Cavuto will be seen on Obama’s face millions of times.

McCain has some experience with Obama in the Senate on, I believe, ethics reform. McCain took his mettle then and found it wanting. He knows Obama for the fraud and card board character he is. McCain may be up there in years, but he is no dummy. And he knows human nature.

I have not decided yet if Obama gets the nomination if I will vote for McCain. I like him. He is certainly more moderate on some issues. I fear for right to choose with him. But the more I see of him I may for the first time in my life cast a vote for a Republican for President.

You’re only methodology is throwing around cool buzz words like “psy-ops” and “counter-intel” like some low rent Tom Clancy and then when you get called out for not making any sense, you tell them how stupid they are.

Try making a coherent point for a change.

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-09 15:06:56

Prove it!

you cant prove your assertion shithead, and I wont bite.

PROVE IT.

Comment by Jason | 2008-05-09 23:08:45

Prove what? That you can’t write a coherent post and call people stupid all the time? See the one above this one for exhibit A. Then see the rest of your posts for exhibits B - whatever.

“Do you understand what it is to accelerate your own destruction as a troll?

No, you don’t.

Do you know what it is to use the same tag, over and over, how repetition is used as counter propaganda, and how your clueless defiance is being used to destroy your methods?

No, you don’t.”

Do you always answer your own questions?

Have you picked up the medication we talked about yesterday? Don’t half the dose–the whole thing. Remember, four times daily. After meals.

You sound like you’re familiar with the schedule. And ready to instruct others. From personal experience, perhaps?

Yes, I’ve been struggling to keep Requiem on his schedule for some time.

But you’re lying, so you’re trying to prove a negative, and you don’t understand what I’m saying.

So you’re losing, right?

And like a stupid republican troll, this same logic you use is applied to the country’s governance.

And it’s failed, too.

And I get it, and others get it, but YOU don’t.

Because you don’t understand what it means to prove a negative, and we do.

And every time you open your mouth, you tell everybody your ignorant,.

I bet Gore gets it.

I had to learn to tolerate the slower kids all through school, you’re the same as them, tool, dumb men are a dime pretensious failed men are a dozen, really ask any bright person…

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-09 15:19:53

Straussian method tries to prove a negative it’s why the Republicans can’t succeed.

Every President who played by the rules, up to this cretin and his crew, helped build the US into the power it is, the only group to fail is Cheney’s, and Rove’s because they don’t understand WHY their methods don’t work.

Because they’re dumb, because Rove had to cheat to defeat the superior candidate, and now Axelrove is cheating to defeat the superior candidate, trying to prove a negative, that whole group of cheaters.

And you don’t get it, therefore you support Obama, and Rove because YOU ARE NOT SMART.

Country doing well due to your methods, how to cheat on a war, fight the Arabs, use these mothods on the others trying to prove a negative, too? Its internecine, isn’t it? Too big a word, look it up.

Look at Isarel and the Palestinians, and YOU DONT GET WHY.

Can you follow that?

How you gonna fix it?

War?

How about another surge?

Do you know anything about theory?

Comment by Jeff | 2008-05-09 15:40:39

Could you respond to yourself just one more time? It’s something to behold…

Yep - you were and still are that kid that thinks they are smarter than everyone else and you’ve been telling people that for so long you actually believe it.

You are dumb.

And following your repetitive illogical reasoning that has to be true because you can’t prove a negative.

Seriously…you’ree turning into a troll on your own site when you’re this annoying to the people that are at least half-way rational.

He’s past schedules he needs Candy Finnigan from Intervention…becuase when it all comes down to it…what have you been right about? Rezko….wrong, Wright…WRONG!…Super D’s-WRONG!, Weather Underground…WRONG. All in all, you all have to analyze the team you’re backing…it’s like you guys are Baltimore Colts fans pretending your team is still there days after they packed up everything and dipped on you.

Get a GRIP!

Well, OK, I gotta give you this one. You’re right - I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve read your comment a couple times, and I still can’t make any sense of it.

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-09 15:24:27

I know you’re not bright, you don’t understand advanced physics, either.

And if I were to read burnt norton to you, you’d miss that too.

Why are republican trolls so DUMB?

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-09 15:25:14

You know a President like Kennedy, or even Reagan I would bet, could discuss poetry.

You can’t, fucking clueless troll.

Comment by Jason | 2008-05-09 15:37:27

Except you haven’t tried to discuss poetry, all you did was insult him/her.

Fail.

Again.

This is just one of many areas that McCain will strike if Obama is the nominee. I think that it is relevant to discuss.

The illusion that Obama is above dirty politics and the smears that Hillary has endured because of it is one of the most compelling narratives the GOP can and will use against Obama if he is the nominee.

Comment by ChrisXP | 2008-05-09 12:44:25

Do you think Hillary would approve of you parroting McCain faux-outrage talking points to help him get elected?

This is war, sweetie. If you can’t take the heat of combat, get off the battlefield.

This is just a training execise to what your granny is going to face if he’s nominated. No point in crying over “negative ads” because the GOP wouldn’t care, they’ll put that flaming liberal on Ayer’s doorstep and ignite both — for fun.

Welcome to real politics, dear. :)

“This is war, sweetie. If you can’t take the heat of combat, get off the battlefield.”

Honeypie, I think you have what they used to call ‘Battle Fatigue.’

Once the nomination fight is over, I predict Hillary will be campaigning for a democratic victory in November, even if she is not the candidate. She’ll do it because she wants what’s best for this country too, and that means a democratic president. Are you still going to support McCain when she’s out campaigning for Obama?

Comment by Mary | 2008-05-09 14:01:55

I can’t imagine Obama ALLOWING her to campaign for him, Gypsy.

She’s MUCH too “racist” to be seen, right?

Comment by layla | 2008-05-09 14:53:25

Ha, ha, ha, why would your ilk and /Barack even want Hillary to work for you - why SHE’S THE EVIL ONE, isn’t that right? SHE IS RASCIST - isn’t that right? No wonder you support barack, you think Clinton’s supporters are going to forget everything you have done?
Your vile, all of you, even if she kindly agrees to support him later, it’s too late for me. She has to do good for the democratic party, but your ilk and Barack have already divded us too much. And besides, I’m not voting for a disaster, I never voted for bush, and I’m not going to vote for another disaster now, named Barry.

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-09 15:27:22

How can you even begin to discuss strategy with a troll too stupid to understand even basic poetry?

Really, poetry is just another form of higher abstract thought, and he can’t even grasp that sentence.

Comment by Percy | 2008-05-09 12:52:44

vote for McCain if the choice is McCain and Obama.

Sorry … yet … the Dems (and I am a lifelong one) will not all fall in line!

They have disenfranchised voters, the candidate has acted liek the child he is, has questionable associates, lack both judgment and experience ….. and you think we are safer with him than McCain?

We don’t even really know what policies Obama believes in and what he can get done.

He wants to meet world leaders without preconditions?

He never even held a committee meeting … and you feel safe with him and think he is good for the country because he is running as a Democrat?

Are you crazy?

We should reward aggressive behavior and threats of a riot if things don’t go his way with the Presidency?

You are kidding right?

Hillary or McCain. … no questions.

Comment by Judith | 2008-05-09 14:17:51

I agree with you, Percy. Too bad his bad behaviour is being reinforced. It’s going to take the Daddy Party to sort this out.
