Unelectable (and an Open Thread for Venting)

From the incomparable Flineo … and …

A tribute to Obama and the Democratic Party.

Written by John Smart and performed by Lisa V

Lyrics:
Unelectable, that’s what you are
Unelectable, your past is just too bizarre
That whiff of smug that clings to you
Your mentor has become an issue
Never before have you been more,
Unelectable, in every way
And forever more, that’s how you’ll stay
That’s why, Barry, it’s incredible
That you’ve become so unelectable.
Superdelegates want a winner,
Not you.

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama isn’t likely to pick rival Hillary Clinton as a running mate, according to one of his most prominent supporters.

Senator Edward Kennedy, 76, without naming names, said Obama should pick someone [for VP] who “is in tune with his appeal for the nobler aspirations of the American people.”

“If we had real leadership — as we do with Barack Obama — in the No. 2 spot as well, it’d be enormously helpful,” Kennedy said.

““If we had real leadership — as we do with Barack Obama ”

WTF he’s never lead anything in his life. Oh wait he was pres of the Harvard Lampoon and that foundation Ayers hired him to lead.

Harvard Law Review, actually. But thanks for trying. Or was that a joke?

Comment by pm317 | 2008-05-10 07:53:26

His choice for the Review was political — a black professor had left over his tenure bid. And, he never wrote a single word for the Review. That should tell you a lot.

Teddy was EXPELLED from Harvard in 1951 for CHEATING on an Spanish exam.

That’s our “great” Teddy, starting off to a fine start in politics.

This is the Dem leadership. This his how and why there’s only been 5 Dem presidents (Truman/Kennedy/Johnson/Carter/Clinton) in 50 years — as they can’t pick the very candidate that CAN WIN!

SusanUnPC, 1/1/08:

I always begin my thinking about the presidency with the Supreme Court. Especially now, with such a delicate balance, and several rather old jurists. (Did a story on that a few months ago or so — and I listed their ages.)

It’s one issue that could get me to vote for the Democratic nominee, no matter who it is. I just pray that we get a highly experienced president who can be on the go the day after the election.

Comment by TeakWoodKite | 2008-05-10 12:38:49

That was my opinion as well, but considering the utter lack of understanding BO has displayed regarding the Constitution of the United States, I could not vote for him on that basis.

Right. Red Queen, over at http://elizabitchez.blogspot.com/, has a great post on this, starting with:

My Uterus Will Not Be Held Hostage

So the cry from the Blogger Boyz and their cronies to those of us who refuse to drink the koolaid and bow to the Precious is “What about Roe! What about the Supreme Court!”

Fuck you. Seriously. I don’t like it when Rethuglikan boyz try to control my behavior with threats to my bodily autonomy, why on earth would you think it’s okay coming from you.

Really it is two halves of the same coin. Don’t be a slutty whore or you’ll get punished with an unwanted pregnancy on one side and don’t be a slutty Hillary voter or you’ll get punished with an unwanted Supreme Court on the other.

Read the whole thing, you wont regret it!

Some of the supporters of The Precious are so pathetic.

stick to it Hillstars! Odd as it may seem I am hopeful Clinton will be the nominee. Uppity once said that “time is Obama’s enemy” this is so true. the more obama is exposed to clearer it becomes that he is utterly unfit for the White house.

I’ll second that one. No T.V. since Sunday. Just sick of the blow torches spewing their venom. I find it so strange that not a one of them have looked at themselves in the camera lens, and discovered how pathetic, small, and absurd they are. I frankly wonder how they can live with themselves.

I was on a conference call today (volunteers) with H. Ickes, and someone asked him if there was anything that he could do about the media’s overtly sexist, disparaging remarks. He said that they have tried repeatedly asking them to please tone it down. All requests are met with a deaf ear. He remarked that they somehow take some pleasure in smirking after their disgusting remarks.

Seems like they are more blatant with each passing day.

John Smart — Obama’s enemy is the rotten economy and the fact that he chose to base his campaign on two volitile groups like the youth and the AA’s. With the economy in free fall and the demands by AA’s for more power — and the youth who might be drafted to fight 2 hot wars, I think Obama will have his hands full. Add to that the Democratic Party thinking they can win without their reliable base or the 30% voters who label themselves Hispanic. I see a train wreck of massive proportions.

What is the name of that lovely young Canadian man who sings the old standards — a la Sinatra? I saw him featured on CBS Sunday Morning recently, but can’t recall his name. I adore that music.

if I had my way, there’d be no rap or hip-hop — just Sinatra, Dinah Shore, Rosemary Clooney, and on and on.

That Canadian singer you asked about was Michael Buble, I believe.

Then you would love my 80 yr. old friend — who does all of the old time favorites.

But she’s on the East Coast — and she is opening for the summer run at the end of this month.

She puts on a wonderful show — which takes you back to the days when song writers knew what they were doing!

By the way — she voted for Hillary!! As I knew she would!

I’d give details of where to hear her — but knowing the vicious and vile Obamabots — I dare not bring them to her door.

She does a lot of the Sinatra, Clooney stuff. Big Band era stuff (she played with some of the Big Bands).

My little doggie adored her — and would bark at the right spots — in How Much is that doggie in the window.

Yep — she just another Clinton supporter that Obama threw under the bus with the other Typical Old white women. Yet this white women toured in an “all girls band” — black band — and she passed as black — in both black and white clubs IN THE SOUTH — during the days of segregation. She she was sort of the female “black like me”.

I hope that Obama gets taken down for his faux claims of racism — he has done so much harm.

We’ve learned from the snObama crowd that the evil “social” movements don’t go away — they just go underground and change. The Black Panthers — and the Weather Underground — are two examples.

Obama supporters are tired of the politics of old, that’s why the turn to political up and comers like Teddy Kennedy.

But the mindless bots forget: Teddy was rejected by the country in presential elections, even more than Kerry. He’s also the most hated Dem in the GOP.

Teddy is the GOP whipping boy, and to think about it, Kerry and him both endorsed Obama (even against the voters will of MA — the Elitist pigs).

…cracks knuckles…

Couldn’t have given the GOP more meat to bake, fry, roast, and BBQ Obama. And I will even enjoy adding some coals to the fire (sorry Dems, but Teddy I’ll never forgive for the 1980 loss that helped launch this Neo-Con invasion).

Comment by kenoshaMarge | 2008-05-10 08:52:25

Not to mention some of us old coots remember how Teddy trashed Jimmy Carter and carried his fight for the nomination all the way to the convention, even though he had no chance by any math, and then turned his back on Carter when he was the winner. Many of us believed then and do to this day that Teddy was the reason Reagan won the GE.

If we remember things like that, is it likely that we will all “forgive and forget” the insults to us and our candidate and vote for Obama in November if he’s the nominee? Not damn likely.

I will never vote for McCain. That is an absolute no-no for this old lefty, but I will not vote for a piece of crap like Obama either.

I leave that to all the braindead, elitist little Obamacrats that have brought down and divided the Democratic Party. Some uniter!

Comment by ChrisXP | 2008-05-10 10:13:55

Vote your conscience. That’s the only true vote in the world.

I’ll always stay independent, because I don’t like to be pigeonholed into some corner and told to never associate with others due to a label. Believe in coalitions, not roadblocks.

Maybe, just maybe, we’ll live to see both sides working together top, down.

Comment by Daryl | 2008-05-10 11:21:23

I’ll never forget him refusing to shake Carter’s hand at the convention. Carter literally followed him around the stage but Teddy would have none of it.

That’s how it was (or should I say can be tomorrow) in the 60s with women. Hillary’s been through it all. Didn’t give up then when women were still suppose to be housewives, and she won’t take it now by Chicago pimps.

She’s a tough bird. The GOP couldn’t even cook her with a flamethrower. :)

Comment by s. hall | 2008-05-10 13:46:00

The problem for the Bigwigs in the Democratic Party is that Hillary would like to see full employment. She would like this country to go green and create millions of jobs and she would like healthcare for all Americans. Its like the Republicans and Roe v Wade. Healthcare for all Americans is just a talking point. The Democrats have held Congress for most of the last 60 years and they did nothing.

I hope and pray that Hillary will realize we need a viable third party. The parties right now are two sides of the same coin. I have been told this for years but I resisted because I was so firmly planted in the Democratic Party of FDR. I thought why isn’t Kerry a populist–its the way you win. Well now I believe the Democrats don’t want to win. If they did they would all be fighting to support Hillary instead of standing firmly with a man who by his own words stated he hates white people and is doing his best to divide this nation along racial lines.

Comment by Jack | 2008-05-09 23:36:37

I’m still trying to figure out where everyone got the ‘unelectable’ memo. I think it might be a little out of date. Maybe it was written before he was elected the democratic nominee.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-05-10 13:48:59

Obama cannot win the vote of white blue collar workers no can he win Hispanics. He cannot win states which hold primaries and where he can’t bus people in to vote. Obama has marginalized himself as a black candidate and now white voters are turning against him. Multiply that in the GE and he is a cooked goose.

Comment by beebop | 2008-05-10 14:01:59

Jack, jack, jack …

Even with the final primaries, neither of them will have enough delegates to — as you so quaintly put it — be “elected” the democratic nominee.

Then there is that pesky General Election which is where he is UNELECTABLE. Try to stay focused. I know that when you are new to politics, there are lots and lots of new terms. But there are primaries and there is a General Election. In a General Election, the party nominee runs against the other party. No caucuses and no super paid off delegates. One man/woman. One vote (and then the electoral college). And he is not going to win. It is math.

You can tell a man by the company he keeps

Hillary Clinton did significant work on behalf of epilepsy causes for a foundation co-founded by Axelrod’s wife, Citizens United for Research in Epilepsy. This meant a lot to the Axelrod family, as his daughter suffers from developmental disabilities associated with chronic epileptic seizures. Axelrod’s wife even said that a 1999 conference that Clinton’s convening on finding a cure for the condition was “One of the most important things anyone has done for treating epilepsy”

What type of person does it take to stab you in the back after you have helped their disabled child? What kind of selfish ungrateful shell of a man would do something like that? In this case David Axelrod is that kind of individual, an unscrupulous parasite who would damage the very person that came to his family’s aid to help his disabled daughter.

She is not vindictive — she keeps her eyes on the prize and doesn’t let this get in her way. I can see where its hurting Bill though. He could take it when it was about him but when it hurts her — it destroys him. I love that family. They have run this campaign with grace and dignity. I pray everyday that she will be our nominee. With Hillary its about us…..

Hillary Clinton’s Nuclear Option

What are the issues that could be included in the Nuclear Option? Here is a sampling:

- Comb the archives of Trinity Church for a DVD that shows both Reverend Wright making yet one more of his offensively over-the-top statements … and showing Senator Obama in the congregation, listening to his preacher. Senator Obama skirted responsibility for Wright, in part, by claiming that “I never heard him say that.” Prove this defense wrong and it will not only tie Obama to Wright, but will paint him as a lying politician, and one not particularly adept at lying.

- Comb sources for home video of a speech that Senator Obama gave in conjunction with unrepentant Weatherman domestic terrorist Bill Ayres, and in this way, tie Senator Obama more tightly to this radical who’s helped to kill Americans on American soil. Senator Obama has persuaded the media that he and Ayres are just neighbors, but video that would show them sharing a platform as allies could shake that excuse — and Obama’s credibility. With such a thin track record, the hope he is offering the Party and the American voters rests on a thin reed of credibility.

- Assuming that Tony Rezko is found guilty in his fraud trial, find some way to pressure prosecutors to offer Tony Rezko a sentencing deal in exchange for offering incriminating testimony that will tie Senator Obama far more closely to this shady political fund-raiser (currently in the midst of a bribery trial). The Rezko story has been largely overlooked by the media. Few voters understand the nature of the Rezko/Obama connection. But this Chicago politics as usual story of sordid minor-league corruption will further shake the Senator’s image of electability.

- Push forward another story that has been largely ignored by the media: Senator Obama’s radically permissive position favoring “birth control abortions,” on-demand, for minors, and his related view that babies, including his own future grandchildren, are “punishments.” As explained in American Thinker - one of the very few political media which even noted this statement - in late March, Senator Obama said:

“Look, I got two daughters - nine years old and six years old. I am going to teach them first about values and morals, but if they make a mistake, I don’t want them punished with a baby.”

This is a position that would prove widely unpopular among moderate “values” Democrats and most independents in a general election with a pro-life candidate, this issue could be a political deal-breaker.

- Comb Senator Obama’s voting record in the Senate and in the Illinois legislature and find every issue he’s voted for (or against) that - if the vote were known - would make moderate Democrats and Independents uncomfortable with the Senator. Where possible, find video showing Senator Obama advocating these politically extreme or unpopular positions, making it hard for the Senator to deny that he was “in the pew” when those issues came up for consideration.

These five possibilites, along other issues that cast a bad light on Senator Obama, constitute Senator Clinton’s “nuclear option.” These issues have been largely ignored, minimized or “put to bed” by the national mainstream political media, including media opinion leaders ranging from the New York Times to CNN, MSNBC and the broadcast news networks. However, these same issues can be advanced by Clinton surrogates in a way that will force the media to take another look … and force the super delegates to re-think their ultimate choice.

Comment by usedmeat | 2008-05-10 00:34:51

How dare you, resorting to facts! Shame!!

Comment by ChrisXP | 2008-05-10 00:45:31

I’m mixed. Part of me wants Obama to get the nomination so the GOP can tear him to shreds. But that will be betraying a sister in need. There’s thousands of races and ethnics groups, but only 2 genders — and one has been getting the short end of the stick since the dawn of time. That has no party, no color, that’s a sister breaking the last great glass ceiling.

If Obama gets nominated, I’m afraid I’ll have to leave here, since I’d probably offend every Dem in the process of unifying. He just can’t win in November, period.

Comment by s. hall | 2008-05-10 14:02:16

One other issue which is a deal breaker for Obama and which has only been covered superficially by Hannity and not at all by other media outlets is his belief in Black Liberation Theology which he shares with Wright. Basically Black Theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified with the goals of the black community. But there is so much more to it. And so say its a radical way of thinking for a man who wants to be President of the US is an understatement.

Try your lies where people don’t know better you poor idiot troll. She hasn’t reached the magic number and neither has he.

If you really are an Obama supporter then you would STFU and hope that just a small portion of the Hillary Clinton supporters will vote for your piece of crap candidate if and when he wins the primary. If you really care about the election and not getting attention you would shut up and try not to offend voters that your piece of crap candidate will need in a general election.

My vote is irrevocably lost. Others may not be. But keep pissing them off and with your premature victory lap and you’ll keep losing votes. Please, please keep doing what you’re doing. Because I have passed the point where I care if McCain does win just so long as Obama does not.

Comment by Mary | 2008-05-10 09:22:00

Barty, until Obama has 2025 delegates, he hasn’t WON.

Why can’t he close the deal?

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-10 09:26:18

Because he needs to be spotted some points. They want to give them to him by giving him the delegates of the candidates in Michigan people voted for, when we all know and have the links to prove that “uncommitted” was mostly the obama block. Never write down something on the internet you don’t want the world to see. The rest of the people in Michigan actually picked somebody else and since they are out of the race, Obama thinks Michigan voters should Affirmative Action those votes over to him so he doesn’t lose too many delegates.

Comment by Mary | 2008-05-10 09:54:22

Well, of course you’re right, Uppity.

His arrogance in “announcing his victory” in May, and THEN “allowing” Florida and Michigan to be seated, will be the END of the Democratic Party’s chances.

It’s really incredible how arrogant his campaign and his supporters have been.

If this is his idea of “unity,” I want no part of it.

He only “wins” by CHEATING.

Comment by Daryl | 2008-05-10 11:36:19

A 48 state candidate whose win total includes at least 12 states that will go Republican in the fall cannot win the Presidency.

Potentially having 2.4 voters across two powerful swing states believing they got shafted is a politcal H-bomb for any party. That’s the kind of thing that can lose you control of Congress let alone the presidency.

The nomination was Hillary’s to lose, and she lost it.

Ah, you better back track. Because Hillary can not only win the GE, she’s taking the GOP on in their own backyard. That lady has brass balls, that the GOP may even have to polish. :)

:sssss:

I guess she should have bussed supporters into Iowa. She should have run an ad — Be a Democrat for a Day and she should have played the race card. I guess she should also come out and declare herself the winner of the nomination the way Obama is going to do without enough delegates to support his claim.

“With a little help from her backstabbing friends. Uh, what a minute, she hasn’t lost the nomination just yet.”

Whatever happened to the good ole days of cronyism when people paid for favors with favors. I hate all this damn ‘voting for the most qualified’ crap. Its a fad. It’ll pass.

Posted this on the other thread: worth watching.

Posted news about Obama saying he has been to 57 states. Don’t see it up.

They are laughing about it at the Free Republic board and making jokes about him. Here’s one statement:

If the dumb ass had ever once looked at the flag and saluted, he may have noticed the number of stars….

Obama is clearly the Affirmative Action candidate - and a poor one at that…

Here’s the link to the video of Obama: http://suitablyflip.com/

Oh my, as if 8 years of “Bushisms” wasn’t enough, now the Nutwing of the Leftwing wants to saddle us with at least 4 years of “Obamaisms”, aka known as stupidity verbalization’s by Barack.

Last week the Obama campaign didn’t seem to know that the Great Lakes were not in Oregon. Now “the one” doesn’t know how many states there are, how the hell do you try and pass that off as “misspeaking”?

It is a really good thing that the media has been so in the tank for Obama as he ran his “flawless” campaign, otherwise all the stupid things he’s said, the bad company he keeps, and foot in mouth disease of his angry wife might have caused him some problems. But if and when he wins the nomination, or steals it as he’s trying to do, he find out what some really big guns aimed at him can do. And the Clinton campaign’s “kitchen sink” will seem like a spring breeze to a hurricane.

Then Whiny Obama and his band of crybabies will have something to cry about. And since they didn’t care when the media attacked my candidate, I will be sublimely indifferent when it does the same to him. Actually I will enjoy it immensely.

When I saw Wisconsin went to Obama, I went through the county break down. Grandma’s county — born, raised and died there — was one of the few that was for Hillary (a true blue-collared county). Thought Wisconsin flew the coup, as that wasn’t how I remembered it (more conservative than the South even, that stiff upper lip stuff and all), and the ladies being v-e-r-y self-sufficient — mom tells me of one of grandma’s friends, who BUILT houses even back in the 50s.

But Marge you renewed my faith that Wisconsin is still the state I remember from youth — populist, but not the victim capital of the world. Know my northern relatives could never accept Obama, he’s everything they taught me not to be.

kenosha marge — you mean you don’t want a candidate whose wife said she would scratch former President Bill Clinton’s eyes out. Picky Picky. ^5

That’s very cute but John McCain has an association far worse than Jeremiah Wright and his name is… GEORGE W. BUSH! That’s what this election is going to be about. THE REAL ISSUES! People have seen all of these lame stories about Obama - And he’s right where he was before they all came out. It’s like Gennifer Flowers in ‘92. Nobody really cares. As Bill Clinton said “It’s the economy stupid.”

Who cares? Bush is leaving. McInsane is too weak to build unity anyway, even among conservatives — to the extent, we’re even here voting for Hillary.

There’s no party sticker for gender, and a sister is in need.

The DNC sent me this overnight (in part)…

Everywhere John McCain goes his handlers are organizing fundraising receptions, catering to special interests and lobbyists. It’s straight out of the George Bush and Karl Rove playbook.

While our primary continues, we can’t afford to let John McCain and the Republican machine get a financial advantage. Help us and our nominee stay competitive.

Thanks for your support.

Phil Murphy

No, I can’t support the DNC, and I won’t.

The DNC seems to have foisted a totally unelectable candidate on us for President. It has allowed states to run gang-style caucuses (as I witnessed in Texas) that were as fraudulent as any third-world “democratic” process I have ever seen. It has ARBITRARILY enforced rules about primaries, exceeding the punishment the rules mete out on some states (FL and MI), while not punishing other states (SC, NH, NV, MO?) resulting in a dramatic shift of votes for one candidate over another. That we would disenfranchise Florida (because of actions by the GOP controlled legislature) after what happened there 2000, is a deal breaker for me and the DNC.

Finally, DNC member Donna Brazille recently stated that people like me (older, white, mid-American) have no place in the future of the Democratic Party. If you don’t want me, don’t come asking for my money.

Sincerely,
Paul Summer

Amen.

Let them EARN your vote, by a candidate that can actually win and reflect your values. All anything a voter wants — a winner you can be proud of — not an endless train of losers.

Speaking of Mothers Day

Have all you Obamabots out there seen McCains’ Mother’s Day video on Youtube? It is an absolutely brilliant sly dig at Obama. The video is giving Obamaniacs including his media lapdogs like Olberman coniption fits. Because they dam well know if Obama gets the nomination they can expect more of this down the road.

I think what is really distressing the Obamabots is that that Mr HopeyChangey may have to run against a man who is actually unashamed, no actually down right proud, of the white woman who raised him. The McCain camp will want the public to get to know all about her. You know unlike the granny that Obama threw under a bus when it was politically convenient so he could defend momentarily the F’ing crazy racist charlatan he told the world was his spiritual advisor / surogate father.

If Obama does locked up the nomination, the Republicans are sure to bring up “Where is the white woman who raised you Obama?” You know the 87 year old grandma who now lives alone in Hawaii. The one your wife probably absolutely hates with a burning passion. The one you never told the
