The Nasty Attacks on Barack Begin! Again!

And I won’t have it! It’s just so mean and so unfair! LOOK at these blog posts, will you????!!!! I’m dividing these posts into the “Ahhhhhhhhhhhh” (Leave him alone, he tired boy!”) and the “Cackling with glee” posts. (I’m collecting so if you spot any, please, please share below in the comments!)

IN THE AHHHHHHHHHHHHH, LEAVE HIM ALONE department:

MARC AMBINDER — he writes for the “let’s be mature and ‘across the aisle’ about this” for latte elites my-magazine’s-way-older-than-your-magazine Atlantic Monthly — and he’s the head of the “YOU SHOULD BE ASHAMED FOR LAUGHING” DEPARTMENT:

From The “If McCain Did This” Files Obama, below, is tired, nothing more. … But if John McCain did this — if he mistakenly said he’d visited 57 states — the media would be all up in his grill, accusing him of a senior moment. Just saying….

FROM THE CACKLING WITH JOY DEPARTMENT — NO MATTER HOW YOU SLICE IT OR DICE IT, JUST PLAIN MEAN DEPARTMENT:

CAN HE SPELL “POTATO?” — [OHHHHHH that’s brutal!]

SISTER TOLDJAH blog tells ya what’s what about all this:

He made these gaffes almost one year to the day after he claimed “10,000″ had died from the Kansas tornadoes, when it was actually only 12.

John Hinderaker at Powerline points out that the media won’t even come close to treating their Golden Boy like they did Dan Quayle’s gaffes.

Or President Bush’s, for that matter.

Marc Ambinder correctly points out that if McCain had said any of this:

[…] the media would be all up in his grill, accusing him of a senior moment. Just saying….

Yup, but maybe just for laughs McCain should strike back at Obama’s accusation of him “losing his bearings” by referencing Obama’s flubs and suggesting that the inexperienced, rookie Senator from Illinois apparently isn’t getting in enough daily naps.

Tom Elia quips:

Personally, I don’t think it was a ‘tired mistake’ as much as this is just how Chicago Democrats are used to counting during elections and election campaigns…

Tigerhawk suggests:

Of course, there is another explanation beyond the steak sauce theory or the traditional lame excuse that he was “tired” (yeah, right, like Winston Churchill used that excuse) or that he’s “lost his bearings”: Barack Obama is an imperialist! His mistake was not in counting the states properly, but in failing to say that he wants to visit 57 states. And who doesn’t? Why didn’t he say that he wanted to bring back “manifest destiny” a little earlier in the campaign? That would have helped him with the Reagan Democrats. For sure.

Heh.

I’d love to see someone come up with a bumper sticker design related to this. I’d display it proudly :D

“V” sent me a link to a blog that now has special lapel pins for all 57 states. Maybe Barack’ll wear this one?

LOL! Good to know….need to buy more remotes.

Obama and his fake MLK tone drives me up the wall….I can’t listen to it.

At least with Dubya I could go the other room and avoid the smirks, etc

Anyway, that video is brilliant! Thanks..I love this site. You have the best info.

That link with the custom 57 state lapel pin is offensive. Puerto Rico is NOT the 51st state. Everyone knows Canada is the 51st state. Since when did we get bumped? Apparently, we Canadians have a President too. If Obama meets this person, I hope he lets us all know who it is. I’m Canadian and I’m dying to find out.

Mr. McCain and his surrogates have repeatedly stated that Mr. Obama would be willing to meet “unconditionally” with Mr. Ahmadinejad. But Dr. Rice said that this was not the case for Iran or any other so-called “rogue” state.

Oh really? Too bad the Republicans have the video of the debate where he said exactly that.

Mr. Obama believes “that engagement at the presidential level, at the appropriate time and with the appropriate preparation, can be used to leverage the change we need,

Um……isn’t that what Hillary said in response?

Comment by ChrisXP | 2008-05-10 13:42:46

Can you believe the NYT giving such a breakdown on anything Hillary has stated?

No.

They switched from “We Report the News for you Cretins” to strict reporting with that article.

What a sham.

Comment by brucds | 2008-05-10 11:38:36

This blog is pathetic. I don’t know if the hysteria or the hackishness is worse. Kind of like reading that other Night of the Living Dead blog, Taylor Marsh. I started this primary cycle assuming it was about the best candidate. Now it’s clear that a lot of the Hillary camp - and Hillary herself with her most recent remarks about “hardworking Americans, white Americans” supporting her - are about one cut above Joe Lieberman as reliable Democrats.

Comment by gimmeabreak | 2008-05-10 11:42:19

Stick around for the rampant racism. This blog has slightly more intelligent people posting than TM - not quite as much “Rise, Hillary, Rise!” and “our girl”, but much nastier.

Comment by WestPalm4Hillary | 2008-05-10 11:48:53

From someone who supports a candidate whose based an entire campaign on “nothing,” literally, you’ll forgive most of us for laughing at your judgment calls of character, as there’s obviously something fundamentally flawed with your analysis.

Comment by alibe | 2008-05-10 12:25:30

I guess Obama is the “Seinfeld” candidate. Based on nothing and funny as hell and as irrelevant as Obama girl. But I don’t want Jerry and Kramer and George running this country. Maybe Elaine though.

Comment by usedmeat | 2008-05-10 11:51:25

Racism?
Who played the Bradely Effect card when he had his butt handed to him in New Hampster?
When that didn’t work who then went to the Tears of the Clown excuse?
Much later we found out that it was voters familarity with that other Axlerodian Candidate Deval Patrick.

Comment by jwrjr | 2008-05-10 13:01:42

Apparently the new definition of racism is “didn’t support Obama.”

Comment by Strawberrybitch | 2008-05-10 12:23:26

We’re nasty? Oh honey, you ain’t seen nuthin’ yet. The GOP may not know how to govern, but they sure as hell know how to get elected. And if you start up with the whole naselly, whiney, “Oh, you’re being soooo mean and nasty and racist, WAHHHHHHH!” They’ll just smile and say “Yeah, what of it?” They relish being mean and vicious. It’s in their blood and they WILL win by any means necessary. What part of Watergate don’t you get? But you can bet they aren’t that careless anymore. They may lack imagination but they learn fast.

REASONS WHY AN IVY LEAGUE EDUCATION IS CRITICAL FOR POTUS…..
1. Harvard teaches excellent Geography….ask Obama…
2. George W. Bush was from Yale….and that was good….
3. Poatoe and nuculear are no longer allowed in the curriculum….
4. It’s a great place to hook up with terrorists….those dudes can party….
5. You can use an IVY LEAGUE DEGREE to fool any fool that you can do any job….Hey ! It’s worked for lots of us…..
6. The egg-head chicks are really easy….
7. If you go to an IVY LEAGUE….You learn how to feel sorry for Poor People…..Especially if they live in one of those poor countries….
8. IVY LEAGUES teach you how to say multi syllabic words and stuff…
9. If one of your folks went there…..They let you in easy…..
10. IVY LEAGUES teach you how to protect the status quo ( rich folks ) while you pretend to work against the status quo (care about poor folks)
BONUS REASON :
LOTS OF TERRORISTS WENT TO IVY LEAGUES AND THIS COMES IN HANDY

You don’t need us anyway, remember? You’ve got that historic election winning combination of African Americans, latte liberals and quite possibly THE most unreliable voting bloc ever - college kids - in your corner.

Run with it. Take it all the way to that special place over the rainbow where Barack Obama - who can’t even unite his own party - is supposed to unite Washington, the American people, and the WORLD with his essence of greatness.

Don’t worry, IF Obama gets the nomination, we all look forward to your arse kissing, “unite! unite! unite!” cries that will fall on deaf ears.

At this rate, it’s more like: “Will the last Democrat leaving, please turn off the lights”!

You want the most flaming liberals, with zero street cred and — who even “forgot” that we have 50 states, this HARVARD GRAD PINHEAD — to run? You deserve the ridicule of not only the GOP, the world (you can bet the Brits and Aussies are bursting at the seams laughing at OBABA’s own senility).

What a disgrace among Americans AND THE WORLD.

You freaking flaming liberals have zero decency and all you want is to DESTROY this country. How about doing this country and world a favor: commit suicide via butter knife (since you hate guns so much for a faster and less painful exit!).

UGHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I need help here..I am freezing here with the cold breeze coming from the Great Lakes in Oregon.

I went over to his site one time to leave a comment about something he had said that was offensive to me - can’t remember what as there have been so many - and the next day I started to get emails asking for money. I had to unsubscribe. A few days ago I received a fund raising letter with a computer screw up name for myself and husband that has been floating around awhile. He clearly had bought access to a liberal database that had that name on it. They seem to be covering every possible avenue for funds. I have also received calls from his campaign though I have never given any money or my name etc. The person on the other end of the line started out by saying “now that he has won the nomination” and this was weeks ago!

Comment by Judith | 2008-05-10 12:24:34

Remember when John Kerry was caught on a live mike, back in 2004, saying:

On 11 March 2004, following a satellite address to the AFL-CIO, U.S. presidential candidate John Kerry turned to one of the Union workers he was standing near and said “Oh yeah, don’t worry man. We’re going to keep pounding, let me tell you — we’re just beginning to fight here. These guys are the most crooked, you know, lying group of people I’ve ever seen.”

I guess he’s changed his definition, or he would not have endorsed the man. It is unbelievable what these people are up to…and they must have some pretty good sources to be able to obtain unlisted numbers.

If Ms. McFeatters believes that the arcane Democratic party nomination process and the blatant and beligerent bias of newsmedia outlets, who have claimed a huge stake in the Obama candicacy, thinks that the inevitablity of his nomination is a done deal, she is wrong. Saying it, doesn’t make it so. She is obviously enamored with the rhetoric and perhaps is a part of it,too. Can her analogy of a tv show dynasty to a distinguished and genuine life of political service truly be what the american public believes of a great american, Sen. Hillary Clinton? I certainly don’t think so!

I know what you mean, they’re so stupid, they just don’t understand HOW it’s being used against them.

The very thing they want ot protect, the “military industrial complex” they’re destroying, and Clinton is the only one who can bring some order, maintaining it.

They’re SO dumb.
How is that war going to be resolved?

Downtown Howard Dean?

Nope.

Karl Rove?

Nope.

And given the USSR and Afghanistan, they’re headed the same way, and they’re so STUPID, they can’t stop it, only Clinton can.

Dumb boys to the top, I guess.

So they’re destroying the thing they’re purporting to save, because they’re so stupid.

Guys like JOhn Rowe are so stupid, they leave me breathless, when I’m not laughing at them.

Man, I am going to sooooo love the full-court GOP press going all out for BO. For once, my candidate won’t be on the receiving end of their ruthless assaults, and I can simply watch in awe as they dismantle the Precious and his ‘bots collapse in tears and blubbering.

I’m looking forward to hearing their desperate pleas for party unity as I pour butter on the popcorn, swig back a beer and say “Come on,Republicans, you can hit harder than that!”

Only question is, how will they blame this on Hillary? Well, they are the “creative class,” they can figure it out.

At that point it may be safe to return to the Democratic Party, once Hillary is doing swabbing that stygian stable of every last dreg of Obamanism.

Comment by Talktruth | 2008-05-10 13:33:13

I hate to tell you this, DO, but I think Hillary will be on the receiving end of their attacks. But it won’t matter, because the vast majority of the country will be behind her, and she will win the presidency. BO will be only a dim, dismal memory very soon.

Comment by requiemforadancer | 2008-05-10 15:40:03

given they’re stupid morons, yes, I agree.

If they were smart, they would go after Obama, but republican voters seem to vote against there better interests, too, as do billionaires.

BTW, this is why I respect those billionaires supporting Clinton, they know enough to understand how McCain, Cheney and Obama are breaking the business community they purport to champion.

The war will break the economy hands, down, and without rules, brakes, or innovation, or smart people to turn things, it fails, as do those billionaires, world wide.

But there too dumb to get it, they think Obama will be the same as the hookers they hire in Vegas. Certainly as intelligent, and will do as they direct.

And the Chicago school is so oblivious, so stupid, they don’t understand WHY their methods failed.

I mean, it’s like Cheney’s stupid phds trying ot use game theory to win a war, by proving a negative, but failing to understand they’re trying to prove a negative, thereby failing, descending into an internecine situation, or at the mercy of those who understand HOW Cheney and crew are trying to prove a negative. Dumbest things I have ever seen.

A very easy to understand paradox, but not for the stupid neocon, who feels Alinsky is relevant.

Really.

Mobius strip, for the morons, and they can never figure out why…

Meant to say, “is done swabbing…” My literacy is like Barak’s numeracy today!

Comment by Talktruth | 2008-05-10 14:05:48

Trying to appear erudite, BO used that in a totally wrong context. His flubs don’t begin to approach a problem with numeracy. To wit (from wikipedia):

Numeracy is a proficiency which is developed mainly in mathematics but also in other subjects. It is more than an ability to do basic arithmetic. It involves developing confidence and competence with numbers and measures. It requires understanding of the number system, a repertoire of mathematical techniques, and an inclination and ability to solve quantitative or spatial problems in a range of contexts. Numeracy also demands understanding of the ways in which data are gathered by counting and measuring, and presented in graphs, diagrams, charts and tables.

It is frustrating, having all the tv media pushing him down our throats all the while wallowing around in their sexist shit they throw out constantly ( men AND women) it’s incredibly discouraging. All I have to do is watch Hillary for a minute or two and I am REFRESHED. She gets MORE energized as she goes on! She is an amazing fighter. She ignores the airhead pundits as well she should and focuses on the FACTS on the ground. SHE is the BEST candidate to beat McCain, I don’t care if Barack has more money and the media in his pocket, I know what they are doing and I am not falling for it. GO HILLARY GO

DONATE if you can, she represents all the broke people is the only reason she isn’t ahead in donations! Even if it’s 5 bucks

That piece by Ann McFeatters is a piece of work. Why not e-mail her and tell her what you think of it?

Why, in this video where BO calls Matt Lauer “Matt,” then “Tim,” then “Matt,” then “Tim,” does Obama say about Wright: “I wanted to give him a chance to explain and provide a context for what he had said…”? Does that mean that Barack set up those speaking engagements for Wright?

Am I missing something here? How many states are there again?

Comment by OldCoastie | 2008-05-10 13:23:24

57 states and Obi is trying to help Wright with his future book sales. ;-/

They aren’t ‘nasty attacks’ against Obama.
They are just exposing the truth about him.
If he didn’t provide the fodder …
there wouldn’t be any truth to expose.

Comment by Talktruth | 2008-05-10 14:08:01

Not the truth! It burns!

On Left Jab (Air Obama Radio) this morning, the hosts and a guest are cackling away at what on EARTH Hillary hopes to achieve by staying in the race- one of them described Hillary as the Richard Gere character in “An Officer and a Gentleman” who responds to the demand “Why don’t you just quit?” by crying back “Because I’ve got no place else to go!”

Much derisive laughter, and you can almost hear the Clinton supporters and fair-minded listeners not completely in the tank for Obama being completely turned off.

Then Seder says “you know, Hillary could be a truly historical figure. She can stay in the Senate, I can see her being a tremendous leader, maybe Majority Leader someday…”

Well, gee Sam, if Hillary has so many obvious leadership qualities, why do you reject her for a freshman Senator with NONE?

Which of the candidates is young, just starting out, with potential to build leadership qualities over the years, and which one is ALREADY THERE?

Dumbasses.

Comment by Judith | 2008-05-10 13:14:41

He is a dumbass if he doesn’t know she is already a tremendous leader. Where do they find these people?

Comment by street_parade | 2008-05-10 13:38:25

Is it nice that Sam will ‘let’ Hillary stay in the Senate? Whatta guy…

Why do women vote Democratic again?

They are so freakin’ delusional. Like they’re directing their own movie. Like kids watching Superman and then deciding to jump off the roof with a towel flapping behind them.

You guys wanna ask Barky a question? Then click on this. Personally, I’d like to ask him what he thinks about his radical-muslim cousin, Odinga, in Kenya having people slaughtered and women raped, and if they exchange postcards often since Barky was there months back campaigning for him…
