West Virginia OPEN THREAD

crybaby20large1.jpg

CNN has already declared Hillary the winner! What fun is there in that?! We wanted at least 10 minutes of suspense!
HALPERIN:

Fox News: 78% want Clinton to stay in the race, 17% think she should drop out.

Watch video above. Read more exit poll results here.

CNN’s big hint: Almost half the voters seeking “change” in a candidate voted for Clinton. 64% said the economy was their #1 issue. More results here.

Associated Press: Looks at Rev. Wright’s effect and the gas tax. More results here.

ABC News: “Two in 10 whites said the race of the candidate was a factor in their vote, second only to Mississippi.” More results here. Permalink
+++++++++++++

Some more of the early exit poll results via an e-mail:

61% think HRC more likely to beat McCain
51% Obama shares Wrights views
64% econ top priority
88% affected badly by economy
70% clinton share values
45% oabama does
63% hrc honest
47% obama ahonest
68% hrc more qual for cic
29% obama more qualified

(obviously typed by a friend while she was listening … add articles and more as you catch them!)

AND do share whatever you hear on the various networks - from the obnoxious downplaying of the results to the rare brilliant insight!

Hey Fly You think BO plays GoFish any better than he bowls. He can’t even bowl for columine ’cause he is for gun control in Chicago and against it in Idaho.Like some in Idaho is going to look at that and not say to them selves “BO is for it and against it.

CNN “He blew off West Virginia…”

Jamal WHO?…sorry my sane half has me stuck on this channel. What are the rules regarding campaigning in Florida and Michigan when 1) he is NOT the nominee. 2) They pledged NOT to campaign in those states 3) none of the other candidates where able to.

Flyarm? What are the “rules”>?

Won’t the voters of these states look upon this for what it is? Can you imagine pissing of 2.3 million people and then have BO showup not being the nominee and what? ask for their vote?

That is SOOOO not kool as a matter of pure ethics…

Comment by flyarm | 2008-05-13 20:29:07

heyyy TeakWoodKite..it wasn’t the rules so much it was a pledge each candidate took to not campaign in Florida..Obama ran commericals at the rate of 1.5 million that came into Fla..he spent more than 8 republicans who were on the ballot and did not have to sign a pledge to the RNC..and legally ran commercials..combined..

he also spoke to the media days after signing the pledge ..against the rules of the pledge he signed..the ink wasn’t even dry.

Obama is a damn liar and so is Wolf Blitzer and all the damn media pundits..the only one who has told the truth about it is Lou Dobbs.

and that was only once or twice.

Hey TeakWoodKite..its a good night..and i couldn’t be happier being here than anywhere tonight!

Comment by fooj | 2008-05-14 00:40:37

Isn’t he planning on visiting Florida within the next week or so? Doesn’t that pledge still apply considering he hasn’t technically or otherwise, won the nomination? Rules are rules, yes? Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Is Little Lord Obama trying to pull another fast one?

I don’t care if his commercials came through Cable News. Nobody else did it. Isn’t that breaking the rules? I think Donna Brazille’s about ready to score a trifecta for humiliating defeats. She’a a fraud. Obama is a fraud. What a bunch of losers.

I’m sure The Obama camp will consider it a victory

They’ve gotten rather good at the keystrokes “shift+ctl+plus” in Adobe to flip pdf files counter clockwise, so they can read the results upside down, sideways, and every other which way, haven’t they?

I keep waiting for a camera man to accidently show one of the anchors standing in his chair bending over in a “u” shape with their head cocked to one side as he/she reads results.

Comment by Uppity | 2008-05-13 18:34:59

Somebody just said, If you’re Barack Obama and you are ignoring someone who is still in the race, and you lost this bad, you have got to be feeling pretty stupid.

and of course his ‘analysts’ are saying he’s only losing because he didn’t want the state.

Comment by wry | 2008-05-13 21:29:32

Comment by flyarm | 2008-05-13 19:43:04

Well Uppity…i was an Edwards person and i even Volunteered and flew to Iowa ( and froze) to work for him for 2 weeks before the Jan 3rd election..I walked the streets early morning till late at night knocking on doors.. ..in the snow and dark of Iowa..and i worked as a Co-captian at a very large caucus for him….i even saw on one farm a real reindeer!!…and i will tell you the crap i saw..there is no way in hell..in fact..hell would have to freeze over and the devil would have to be passing out ice cubes as proof before i would vote for Obama the cheater!

Never in my 56 years have i ever seen democrats cheat so bad..and considering i am from Florida and have dealt with so much repiglican cheating..i can tell you I left Iowa throughly disgusted ..and told as many people as i could about the Obama cheating i saw there.

My decision was made then..i would never ever ever ever vote for Obama..he is A DAMN CHEAT!

I also traveled to South Carolina for Edwards..and saw the scummy tactics of the Obamabrats….I and another delegate for Florida went to South Carolina..for over a Week.the other delegate saw what i saw as well..when these pricks say rules..i laugh..what a freaking joke..they don’t know what rules are..they are cheaters..and i will never ever support cheaters!

I have fought them for almost eight years here in Florida..not for me but for all our kids sake..and future generations sake..well now i feel if the kids don’t care..fuckem..

i am done..but i will never ever ever vote for their messiah and cheater…won’t happen..and i don’t give a rats ass what the pundits say..they are only fooling the stupid..because this guy will lose by a landslide in November.

Of that i have no doubt.

I WAS NEVER A HILLARY FAN.. ok ..i know i know..i loved Edwards and i was one of his Delegates in 2004..but i have grown to respect Hillary and her strength…and her ability to tune these assholes out..i am sure behind the scenes..she has had her tears..but she makes me proud to be a woman of her generation..she has Guts and she has an inner fighting spirt that has so impressed me.

She has won ..yes won.. all of my support!

There is a famous remark about Ginger Rogers that she “did everything Fred Astaire did except backwards and in high heels”.

fly./.now a huge Hillary fan!

Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep Senator Clinton from her appointed rounds”.

Comment by flyarm | 2008-05-13 20:38:52

let me tell you..being on the campaign of any candidate running for office is exhausting..when i got home from Iowa and from SC i was beat..just totally best..how Hillary keeps up that pace day after day after day..is an amazement to me.

I sure would not have that kind of fortitude..no way, no how..lol…i hit the sack when i got home and stayed there for days..unable to move..from complete exhaustion!

I told my hubby ..don’t look for me to smile..or talk for days..

but he saw me do this daily in 2004 so he “got it”..and gave me my space..

So i say this with all sincerity..Hillary has my deepest admiration and respect! It is no easy task to do campsigning on a daily basis as she has done..she is a champ!!

Hey, flyarm, I was for Edwards, too. Thank you for all the work you have done for them both. I too have come to love and respect Hillary.
I heard about some of the shenigans in Iowa on Edwards site. That totally turned me against me him, too. I am still fascinated and curious to hear details of what they did in Iowa. Do you think you could write more about it, preferably a diary or blog here. Susan has been asking for dirt on Obama and this is the worst there is. Stealing an election?!!?? The worst.
Please write it in full detail. Many people read this site and this is important stuff for people to know about.
No way do I want a president who stole an election (again) or a country who permits it.

Comment by fooj | 2008-05-14 00:53:22

What she says is absolutely verifiable. I heard first hand reports from her DAILY. I couldn’t believe the reports to the DNC, Dean and Brazille were falling on deaf ears. Unbelievable. It was like living in an alternate universe.

Thanks for all of the work that you do, Fly!

So that’s what the additional 7 states in our new 57 state union are about. To make up for all the real states that Obama doesn’t need.

Comment by mimi | 2008-05-14 00:39:03

At the point any campaign this early in the game makes asinine statements like we don’t need such and such state is the height of arrogance and an insult to voters everywhere.

Well what states do you need. Missouri? Where he won only by 1%?

These people aren’t just neophytes, they’re stupid!!!!!

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-05-14 00:42:09

That is the real perplexing issue of this election.

I think they are actually thinking that Colorado will go blue.

Not a chance, in my opinion.

Nor will the SW states.

He so doesn’t connect with the swing voters in those states. Yes, I know…..he was neck-and-neck.

But which PART of the neck did he get and which part didn’t he get?

The analysis on this primary season has been sloppy.

At least, in my opinion.

Way too much reactivity to the obvious. Very little real thinking going on.

Comment by fooj | 2008-05-14 01:01:43

312 delegates come from caucus states. Perhaps “robbed” would be a better term.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-05-14 01:06:29

The system wasn’t designed for such a close race. That much we know.

I give him credit for figuring out how to thread the needle.

I don’t give him credit for thinking about the country.

What do you do with this “win”?

Are you truly prepared?

Only a fool rushes in.

I think that’s what we have on our hands…..a bit of a fool.

He over-trusts himself.

I’ve been there. I’ve got an ego, too.

And I got it whacked right down to size with some doozy failures. I think that’s the way it should be.

Hillary has been whacked down more than once.

That’s honestly why I trust her.

It’s not because I think she’s brilliant. He’s brilliant, too, I’m sure.

I think I trust people who have really failed. REALLY failed.

That is the great levelor in life.

He has not yet been there.

Comment by fooj | 2008-05-14 01:16:00

He gamed the system. The leadership of the Democratic Party helped him do it. Rules don’t apply to Little Lord Obama. We already have a leader in the WH who behaves this way. It’s criminal. We certainly don’t need another.

Comment by AnninCA | 2008-05-14 01:19:33

Fred Barnes, The Weekly Standard on Fox:

I think this is terrible news for Obama here. It’s not going to effect the nomination, but I think it will increase the anxiety level among Democrats about winning in the Fall and it should. I mean, why would Obama do so poorly here? He had Jay Rockefeller campaigning for him, he had Nick Rahall, probably the most important House member, he spent more money, he had more offices and staffers here in WV. And he gets beaten 2 to 1? You can’t say, “Oh, that’s just West Virginia.” There are a lot of states like WV, and we’ve named them, Ohio, Pennsylvania.

Juan Williams:

It’s not just race. It’s THIS man and his vulnerabilities coming into play here, especially on the cultural side, with Rev. Wright and the like. If you raise this Fred…If I raise it, I’m a[n Uncle] Tom and a crazy person.

Hey, Superdelegates? Are you watching Fox? Or are you still so stupid that you’re watching MSNObama?

WOW! He said that on national TV?

Yoohoo BO are you listening? BO, you are such a “Loneley Goat Hearder”

The clanking of bells you hear are the sound of people that brought ya. You see the path worn in to the hillside? It has been there for centuries. The goats haven’t changed it…what makes you think you can lie and make it change?
