Walk a Mile in Our Shoes!

walkamile

Some wonderful women have come up with a very creative and fun way to express to the DNC just exactly how we all feel about the DNC’s decision to disenfranchise millions of American voters. And how we protest loudly as they participate with absolute silence when the ugly face of misogyny has become commonplace and acceptable within this nomination process. I am certain that this is something everyone should participate in.

Tell EVERYONE!

And make sure you visit their website.

Walk a mile in our shoes!

Starting today, right now, this very moment there is a movement going on!  Can you hear the rumbling? Thousands of women just like you are rushing to their closets and finding the perfect pair of shoes to send to Howard Dean and company over at the Democratic National Committee – Deadline to send your shoes May 31st  (however, keep those shoes coming until Hillary has the nomination)

See the details on our website - http://www.walkamileinourshoes.org/

1. Voters Rights
The DNC has a duty to support voter’s rights for Florida and Michigan. We are requesting that the DNC enfranchise the voters of MI and FL, who did not agree to give up the right for their votes to be counted. Please seat all our MI & FL delegates. When the actions or decisions of a few individuals, regardless of their official roles can strip the citizens of the right to have cast votes counted - then we no longer live in a democracy.

2. Women & Families are Significant to the Democratic Party - Don’t underestimate us!

The estimates of votes from caucus states disproportionately disenfranchise women, working Americans, families with children, the elderly, and others in Senator Clinton’s significant base. Don’t underestimate the importance of women, working Americans, families, the elderly, and most others - we are a sizable portion your constituents. We are concerned that the Democratic Party is walking away from its base, from most of America. Don’t walk away from [the base that will greatly contribute to our win in November!] our winning base!

3. The Good of the Party
It is in the Democratic Party’s interest to take a clear look at Senator Clinton’s phenomenal connection with the very same broad base that the party has sought to attract for decades.  Senator Clinton is winning the popular vote. She is winning the base we must have. She will win the general election.

Sounds interesting, but lets not limit it to Women, guys shoes will do to and should send also the message that people will walk if they nominate Obama.

May 22 (Bloomberg) — House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said women won’t suffer a “step back” if Democrat Hillary Clinton loses her presidential bid, and rejected the idea of sexism in the presidential campaign.
Pelosi, 68, said the Democrats’ delegate-selection process, not the popular vote, will determine whether Illinois Senator Barack Obama or Clinton wins the party’s nomination this year.
“The person who has the most delegates becomes the nominee of the party,” Pelosi said. “It’s not been about the popular vote.”

Pelosi is pandering to her district. People forget she has to get re-elected every two years.

Aside from the pandering, knowing what we know and more since she gets inside information, I find it hard to believe she actually believes anything she is saying.

We also have to keep in mind the Democratic leadership is walking a fine line here since Mr. “Mission accomplished” Obama has played the race card. So take what she says in context of the unseen.

Comment by Donkey Brazziere | 2008-05-22 19:41:43

Nancy is a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. IMO

Comment by fran | 2008-05-22 22:29:45

What planet is Nancy Pelosi on? Seriously, she is so clueless. She has stuck her foot in her mouth more times than I can count…what a disappointment.

Comment by Emily Pickett | 2008-05-23 05:31:47

I met her once. Nancy Pelosi is on planet Pelosi. A total space cadet with a glued on smile that never changes. Creepy.

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-05-23 09:22:23

Nancy has been misinforming people all along regarding the nominating process.

It’s really irresponsible on her part. The good news is that we’re all watching so closely that her lies are now on the table for all to see.

She lost a huge amount of credibility by playing loose with her spin.

“i got 10 pair pof old shoes”

Take a look at the Web site that’s sponsoring this (link above, in the post). We’re supposed to ask that the DNC donate the shoes to a women’s shelter, so they should be in reasonably good condition.

You can also send “virtual shoes”–a drawing or photo of a pair of shoes characteristic of your “walk” in life.

Do visit the Web site to see how it works.

It’s a great idea, particularly sending real shoes–if they get a whole mess of shoes, it’ll likely get some publicity, and a women’s shelter will benefit as well.

A fantastic idea. We’re sending four pairs of shoes, from the women supporters in our family.
Great Logo, Great Idea, and Hillary will win with supporters like us that will keep fighting like Hillary is doing.

I hope that many others participate.

Comment by Swift Loris | 2008-05-22 17:33:20

BTW, the photo of the pile of packages in front of the Hillary sign covers up the first part of the text of the post…somebody should fix that.

Comment by PaganPower | 2008-05-22 20:40:24

It has been fixed. Thanks.

SOMEONE MADE THIS VERY SMART COMMENT ON HILLFORUM

The Superdelegates’ Decision: HC (wide base of support) versus BO (narrow base of support)

——————————————————————————–

I keep hearing from the media that Obama has to win over the votes of the working-class…win over the votes of the Asians…win over the votes of the Hispanics..win over the votes of women…win over the votes of the Latinos..win over the some men…win over the votes of of of. What my question would be to the superdelegates is why would you want to pick a candidate that has to win over of these votes such as Obama…when you already have a candidate in Hillary Clinton who already has all these voters support ??? DUH !!! DUH !!!

Of all the threads going today the conference call one is the most important! I urge my friends here to focus extra attention to it! I just posted this there:

Susan you might want to make this the top thread for the rest of the night. It is very important!

The absence of troll poop in this thread proves it scares them. They know Hillary will do fine in the rules committee so they won’t want to point attention too much to this topic. “Mission accomplished” indeed.

Please participate heavily by clicking here.

And listen to the conference call. You will find great solace and strength after listening! I guarantee!

Comment by Gayle | 2008-05-22 19:17:48

I love this idea!!

It shouldn’t be limited to women, though. Male Clinton should send shoes, too! This is about everyone, not just women.

Comment by Gayle | 2008-05-22 19:19:28

Male Clinton supporters, that is.

**blush**

Comment by SensibleWoman | 2008-05-22 19:31:11

I wish we still raised hogs. I’d have to go out to the pen with my shoes before packing them up and sending them off.

Comment by PaganPower | 2008-05-22 20:41:55

Hahahaha! Still laughing…..

Comment by karen for Clinton | 2008-05-23 05:42:10

I sent a virtual pair of sneakers.

If you don’t want to send real shoes send them a pair of pretend shoes, but let your intention to walk with your feet clear.

Some are walking away, some are running away as fast as they can.

I got on running shoes - they can’t catch me.

* Endorse the candidate that won the popular vote reflecting the will of the people. Senator Clinton has won the popular vote by more than 300,00 votes.

* Endorse the stronger candidate with a more certain win of the General Election. Senator Clinton has the electoral votes to win the General Election and beat McCain.

We the citizen voters wish you to know that we know the the facts, and we wish to remind of the facts:

* Super Delegates and unbound delegates can change which candidate they support every minute, every hour until the convention- we’ve already seen that. Senator Clinton is still winning delegates, and some are those who have switched back to Senator Clinton. We applaud and will loyally support those superdelegates and delegates as party leaders and those in office whom we are constituents of. We will not support nor will we contribute to or vote for those who go against the will of the people as expressed in the popular vote.

* There are still 970 delegates that are “up for grabs” that can vote any way they choose in Denver.
* 795 super delegates AND an additional 175 non bound voter selected delegates.
* The delegate race is actually essentially tied - less than 60 bound delegates separate the two candidates! Senator Obama only has 1638 bound pledged delegates and Senator Clinton has 1581 bound pledged delegates.

At the convention any delegate bound is only bound on the first ballot/vote and given the above facts, no candidate may emerge the winner on the first ballot.

The real delegate race is essentially tied. It is still very possible for Senator Clinton to win the delegate count in addition to already having won the popular vote by over 300,000 votes! The super delegate and unbound delegate endorsements should reflect the will of the people - the popular vote.
.
Don’t walk away from the winning base! We are most of America! We are most of your constituents. Senator Clinton has won the popular vote. Senator Clinton has the electoral votes to win the general election for our party. She is winning the base we must have. She will win the general election.

Please carefully consider our message of true inclusive principled Democratic Party unity, and endorse Senator Clinton to support the will of the voters, and your constituents. We are all constituents of the democratic party.

Tell your friends, neighbors, family! Have a Sock the Vote House Party!!!
