Memo #4 to Superdelegates: Clinton, Coattails, Kentucky
By Truthteller on May 27, 2008 at 5:38 PM in Barack Obama, Democrats, Electability, Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Kentucky, Mitch McConnell
Clinton can win Kentucky, while Barack Obama cannot and will not. View the results of this poll conducted by Rasmussen on 22 MAY 2008:
| Clinton | 51% | …. | Obama | 32% |
| McCain | 42% | McCain | 57% |
And compare it to the results of this poll Rasmussen released today on Republican Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell’s (R-KY) reelection prospects:
| Lunsford (D) | 49% |
| McConnell (R) | 44% |
Not only can Hillary win Kentucky, a state former President Bill Clinton won both in 1992 and in 1996; she can generate the coattails required to catapult Democrat Bruce Lunsford to victory over Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell in what will be one of the most competitive US Senate races this election cycle. Because McCain outperforms Obama by a staggering 25 points in KY, one can assume Obama will complicate and even undermine Lunsford’s election bid. Some would say Obama is a drag for Lunsford.
Everyone remembers how the coattails of Bush II enabled Republican Senator John Thune to oust Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle during the South Dakota Senate race in 2004. If superdelegates think in the interests of the Party and not in the interests of David Axelrod and other corrupting elements within the Democratic Party, we can both win the Presidency and humiliate Senate Republicans. Do we want to make it impossible for Republicans to mount filibusters in the Senate during a Hillary Presidency, or do we desire a McCain Presidency with a Democratic majority in the Senate that cannot derail Republican filibusters? The choice is that of the superdelegates and of those who are charged with determining whether or not the Michigan and Florida delegations will be seated. I hope they are listening.

THAT is a POWERFUL bit of truth.
Someone needs to force these delegates to do their homework. I pray SOME of them are and they have plans to change their votes come August when Hillary takes it to the CONVENTION BABY!!!
Watch OUT Jonathan Alter, don’t forget your depends, you’re gonna NEED them!! And the last of that sidebar of peach fuzz on yo haid is gunna fall plum out!
yessir! :-P~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ya troll
Thanks Truthteller,
I am sending copies of your well researched and factual 4 memos - including the beautiful graphs, to both Howard Dean and Hillary.
You will be remembered as the famous voice of reason in this insane campaign.
Some would say Obama is a drag for Lunsford.
Some would say he’s a drag for any lackey attached to him. They’d be right.
If superdelegates think in the interests of the Party and not in the interests of David Axelrod and other corrupting elements within the Democratic Party, we can both win the Presidency and humiliate Senate Republicans.
They have money. They have received money. They were threatened. You don’t dance with us and we launch a primary against you and you’ll need a new job. SDs aren’t voting in the public interest.
I hope they are listening.
Oh they’re listening. But it’s another matter what they’ll dare do about it.
The One Communists Can Believe In, Obama
Kyle-Anne Shriver has an excellent article in National Review today detailing all the old communist revolutionaries in America flocking to Obama’s side in this year’s elections and why. From Obama’s work with Saul Alinsky right out of Harvard to Jeremiah Wright, Louis Farrakan, the Black Panthers and their Marxism based Black Liberation Theology. I have been writing about this for weeks now but Ms Shriver sums it all up perfectly and why Barack has become the one they have been waiting for.

Thank you Truthteller! I hope the Super Delegates are listening too!
Today an Obama supporter friend of mine was lamenting the repayment of her college loans (she went back to school after many years) and said, “Obama will fix everything. Maybe he’ll make it so I don’t have to pay my loans back at all!”
I think the Obama supporters are stuck in some sort of fantasy. I just hope these remaining undeclared Supers don’t have their heads stuck up their a**es as well!
I registered but never got my password. *eek*
Check your Junk Mail.
Thxs….got it.
Um…sorta’ off topic but…I just got this weird DNC Survey in the mail…with form letters from both Howard Dean and Hillary….WTF? Hillary says she’s still running for president and Dean just wants cash. I filled out the bloody thing and said they would get money from me when they counted and seated MI and Fl or re-voted them. Otherwise Mccain as a protest vote. They asked if I was worried about swiftboatig and voter supression from the republicans. I said right now I’m worried about both but not from the republicans. Mainly Axelrod and Obama. They want the response in 72 hours. Mailing it right back today. Anyone else?
That must be part of the agreement we were hearing about.
Haven’t gotten mine yet. Can’t wait. *hehe
You are right. I will do the same, vote for McCain. This is the pay back for the Democratic party and specially DNC,H.Dean & CO.
I got one, too. I will not give them a dime unless Obama is out.
that’s what i told them too. it’s too late for just counting michigan and florida. the damage has been done, as obambi has been allowed the false momentum from the false delegate lead generated by not counting them for the past 3 months. too little too late even if they count them now.
the only acceptable action is to nominate hillary. if not, i’m out - my vote and my money will go to mccain. and that’s what i told them on their bullshit survey. (among other unpleasant but not profane comments)
hillary or mccain. no other option.
I got one. I didn’t even bother to fill it out, just made a note in red pen on the front to say that due to the DNC’s character assassination of Hillary and Bill Clinton I won’t give them a nickel, I’ll give to Hillary and failing that, I’ll give to McCain.
filled it out with comments in the margins and crossed out things that were wrong such as 50 states… i changed to 48 etc.
I don’t know, maybe they are willing to listen to us finally. Maybe not. We’ll know on the 31st when the RBC decides if they want to throw votes to bambi that he didn’t get. If they give him 50% of the votes when he got zero… we will know.
Immediately after our dear Senator McCaskill jumped in the tank with BO, and started following him around like an adoring puppy, I sent her an email. I asked what kind of democracy was it when our senator picked a candidate when the primaries were only just getting under way, and told her what I thought of her actions. Since I was rather frank, I didn’t expect to hear anything back.
Imagine my surprise when, a few days ago, I received an email beginning “Dear Friend” in which the esteemed Clare tried to show me the error of my ways and let me know how wonderful the anointed is,how marvellous his family, how she has known him for years, etc. etc. From all this I deduced that a lot of folk must be getting pretty scared. I am sure Missouri will never go for him if he is the nominee. I did reply - and don’t expect another attempt to convert me. But it seems to fit in with the surveys being sent.
Today while running some errands I tuned into Air America. It is a nationally syndicated Liberal talk radio network, and listening to it has become a daily ritual for the last six months or so.
Here are some of the things I learned today:
• National radio host Randi Rhodes being suspended from her radio program for calling Hillary Clinton a “F***ing Whore” over and over was a result of corporate America trying to shut up the progressive voice of the people.
• John McCain was a gold digger for marrying Cindy McCain – and has never worked a real day in his life. ( I wonder if they would say the same of John Kerry)
• Republicans are scum bags and conservatives are blood-thirsty war-mongers that like to kill people with brown skin to satiate their racism and to fatten the pocketbooks of their friends in the oil industry.
• The Bush crime family should be imprisoned for war crimes.
• That I should immediately donate money to the radio station so they can be free of the corporate dictates of their sponsors.

What’s interesting to me is that people in these states really like Hillary. Obama won Kansas, but he’s tanked there. But in her states? They are holding. Even CA, it’s nearly even.
Obama has obviously been out pandering (and rather badly) with Hispanic and Jewish voters because he has problems with core constituencies of the democratic party. If Donna Brazille and Howard Dean don’t remember that new, young voters, left wing intellectuals and African-Americans don’t hold enough votes to elect a democrat president (see McGovern, Mondale, and Dukkakis), then the Obama camp must. It looks like Obama’s and Axelrod’s pandering skills may work on the south side of Chicago but they are abysmal on a national stage. We now see flip-flopping on talking with Castro and Iran because of the need to attract Cuban-Americans and Jewish Americans. We also see the attack on Lou Dobbs as a rather pathetically obvious way of attracting the misc. groups of Hispanic Americans that are not coming to Obama via Judas RIchardson.
These demographics just underscore the fatally flawed candidacy of Barrack Hussein Obama alias Barry Sorento. How much more evidence do Super Delegates need. The recent gaffes pointed out here and in many other places just keep showing that Obama has a bad case of Quaylemouth and the geography skills of Dubya. They appear to go lemming-like off the Rocky Mountains in Denver for the peace of two very narrow slices of the Democratic pie. I can’t imagine how having Obama foisted onto so many democrats is going to keep piece in the party. If removing Obama from contention will cause rioting among two slivers, imagine what continually ignoring two key swing states and other key constituencies will. At this point, I think that a few people need to consider giving up their leadership in the DNC before the Democratic party goes the way of the WHIGS.
Yes, and badly is right. He’s gotten quite a lot of bad press with the Jewish Dems. He’s in NM now. We’ll see how he fares with Latinos.
I can see him getting endorsements but not the real deal. They won’t kick in and work their systems for him. Without that? He won’t do well. It’s just how that group operates. He can pound all the doors he wants, but unless they turn the spigot on, Latinos won’t come drinking at that waterhole.
Hillary won votes. He never really did.
Except for…that’s right, Bill Clinton…the Democrat Party has been expert the past 40 or so years at shooting itself in the foot when it comes to presidential nominees.
Makes you wonder why they hate the Clintons so much. Masochistic, maybe?
They honestly don’t want moderates or conservative Dems in the party.
They just want our vote, but not our voice.
These are the odd politicians. Kerry and Kennedy come from a state that voted for Hillary. They are the ones who don’t really have to represent their state voters because of the longevity.
But they don’t even know how to campaign really.
Kentucky has gone with the winner every year since 1964. Now, that’s the definition of a swing state.
Kennedy lost it in 1960, but that was before the solid south cracked. Kennedy won the deep south (except for Florida and Tennessee). We have a different electoral map now, with those states usually going Republican.
So Kentucky remains critical to any person who hopes to win.
I expect we’ll see the same results for WV.
After calling them crackers? Obama kissed KY goodbye. His ego was in such a place, the man didn’t bother to show up there much.
I can see not campaigning as hard there as in PA. But jeesh*….ignoring them was stupid.
If the Democrats have Obama & Pelosi & Reid at the top of the ticket it will kill dozen of viable moderate/Blue dog/ immigration restrictionist/Labor Market Realist/Pragmatic Liberal Senate and House candidates.
Why, because Obama, Pelosi and to a lessor extent Reid are way way way to the left and out of step with the Democratic base on immigration, open borders and outsourcing. Obama’s recent attacks of Lou Dobbs are virtually suicidal.
Along with Lunsford vs McConnell I would add most promentently to the list Jeff Merkley(D) vs incumbent Gordon Smith(R) for the Oregon Senate.
Folks need to take a very close look at what happened in the Oregon primary where the “Immigration Centrist, Labor Market Realist” Pragmatic Liberal Democrat Jeff Merkley beat soundly his pro-Open Borders Left-Libertarian rival Steve Novick.
Merkley has or had a good shot of beating Gordon Smith.
http://blog.noslaves.com/jeff-merkley-and-steve-novick-on-immigration/
I am afraid that lots of voters will punish potential Democratic congressional candidates because they have real problems with how Pelosi and Reid ran the House and Senate.
Refusing to vote for the Democrat is a possible way for the public to get rid of Pelosi or at least voicing displeasure. Otherwise you are going to have Purple district Democratic candidates declaring they are willing to vote against Pelosi as speaker.
Pelosi is heading up a congress that has lower ratings than the most unpopular president in history.
I hardly think she’s got much clout.
Somethimes, I feel hopeless.I can’t explain to myself, why so many people can’t see the truth and can’t evaluate, who is the real Obama, the damage he did by dividing the party so badly. I don’t think, this Democratic party would be united in the close future. We have a leader,we need a new party.
Barack Obama - Ghost Whisperer?
Was Barack Obama really seeing fallen war hero’s as he spoke in New Mexico on Memorial day…
On this Memorial Day, as our nation honors it’s unbroken line of fallen heroes, and I see many of them in the audience here today, our sense of patriotism is particularly strong, because while we gather here under open skies we know that far beyond the Oregon mountains in the streets of Baghdad, and the outskirts of Kabul, America’s sons and daughters are sacrificing on our behalf, and our thoughts and prayers are with them.
Really? Did he really see fallen heroes in the audience? Or was he, as some have suggested, confusing Memorial Day with Veteran’s Day… although that still wouldn’t explain why he could see fallen heroes. Also wondering why he was referring to the mountains of Oregon when speaking in New Mexico; not necessarily a gaffe, but he did know he was in New Mexico, didn’t he

U. S. Diplomacy and Why Larry Sinclair’s allegations of drug use must be investigated.
U. S. Diplomacy and Why Larry Sinclair’s allegations of gay sex and drug use must be investigated.
As we know, Sen. Obama has stated that he would sit down with the enemies of the United States as part of his foreign diplomacy position. The degree of preparation before such meetings and whether it would be interpreted as appeasement or lack of resolve are questions for others. I just wonder if the Democratic leadership has thought about the huge logistical consequences and embarrassment to the United States’ diplomacy efforts if the next President is discovered at some point to be bisexual and an adulterer.

Do we want to make it impossible for Republicans to mount filibusters in the Senate?
I have watched the Senate procedings on C-Span for about 5 years now. The answer to this is absolutely, but only if Senator Clinton is POTUS.
Do I want the congress to be able to over ride a veto if MCain is president? Yes.
Do I want congress to be able to over ride a veto, or the Rebuplicans in the Senate to filibuster, if BO, by some hincky fiat is POTUS? Yes. If BO is POTUS I want the worst kind of gridlock I can imagine. Except for the ending this occupation of Iraq, there is nothing I want done by a BO administration.
Great points, Truth Teller , Thanks.
In an earlier comment, I mentioned that Electoral-vote.com had Hillary winning 4 states in the South (AR, FL, NC & WV) that neither Vice-President Gore or Senator Kerry won. Now with Kentucky, it is 5 states. She also picks up MO, NV, NM & OH that were lost. At this moment, she is beating Senator McCain in a landslide by 133 electoral votes. Senator Obama cannot make it to to the 270 electoral votes to win. Superdelagates must take this into consideration, if not, it will be another McGovern/Mondale/Dukakis debacle for the Democrats. They should take Senator Obama aside and say “next time”.
Looks like Senator Itch McCornhole is going to lose in November.
Thanks for the link Lou and for the visitors from this site to my humble Barnyard. Let me clear that I am not nor never will be a Clinton supporter but I would prefer her over Barack if a Dem were to win the Whitehouse since she is at least pragmatic in her liberalism.
Shriver also points out in her article that Hillary also has some pretty shady characters in her past but nothing like those of Obama plus she is seen as a sell-out by the far lefty communists. If Obama is the DNC nominee I will personally welcome y’all to the McCain camp and I thought the GOP had problems this year, y’all seem pretty torn as well. Cheers!
“NO cameras, no reporters…” you say BO? How many times have you done this? AND WE DON’T KNOW WHY!?
How is it that he can say this? How many cameras and reporters where at the SF fund raisers were there?
If it was not for a camera-cellphone we never would have SEEN you call American’s names like you did. Butg you thought no one would find you out?
Iran is a threat in the morning and it is not in the the afternoon.
The president attending the opening ceremony you have no position until Senator Clinton does?
I’m of two minds> I can be for it AND Against it at the same time?
LIAR! FRAUD! POUSER!
i wonder if he’s frisking the visitors to his no cameras or recorders allowed events now?
and good point about not having a position until hillary does. what’s he supposed to do in a debate with mccain? say i agree….ha!
that pos simply cannot be president!
hillary or mccain. no other option.
Statistician Gives Clinton 100% Chance of Winning
On Friday, Sen. Hillary Clinton had a 99.9% chance of defeating Sen. John McCain in an election held then. Today after the release of five new polls, Clinton’s chances have increased ever so slightly.
After 10,000 simulated elections, Clinton wins 10,000 times (and there were no ties). What does this mean? It means that the state head-to-head polls used to generate a simulated election indicate that Clinton would win a general election held now. That is, her expected win of 320 electoral votes is well above the “margin of error” (or sampling variability).
This doesn’t mean she wins with certainty in November…it means she would win in an election held right now.
