The “Hurricane” at the Committee Hearing

I just KNEW that Sen. Nelson is a t-rd. Just knew it. An appeaser. Grrrrrr. BUT MY MAN LANNY DAVIS IS A REAL DUDE WITH B-LLS!

Jake Tapper has the story:

There was a tornado watch outside the Democratic National Committee’s Rules & Bylaws Committee meeting at the Marriot Wardman Park Hotel Saturday afternoon. And there was a brewing storm inside the hotel as well.

A group of public officials — allies of both Sens. Hillary Clinton, D-NY, and Barack Obama — walked out of the hearing room to discuss their willingness to come together on a plan to seat all their delegates, each voting at half-delegate status, but representatives of the Clinton campaign from outside Florida interrupted their press conference to dispute the idea that the Clinton campaign agreed with the plan.

The "Florida unity" group, which included Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Florida, a Clinton supporter, Rep. Bob Wexler, D-Florida, am Obama supporter, and Florida Democratic National Committee member Jon Ausman of Tallahassee, who filed a challenge to the DNC’s decision to not recognize any of Florida’s delegates.

They seemed to come around the idea that for now the DNC would agree to seat Florida’s entire 211-member delegation at the Democratic National Convention in Denver this August, though all the delegates — pledged and superdelegates — would have their vote count as half a delegate. The move would net Clinton 19 pledged delegates. Participants seemed to agree that the door was open to the eventual Democratic nominee seating them at full strength if he or she so chose.

Clinton campaign surrogate Lanny Davis stood outside the circle and interrupted, raising his voice in protest that the Clinton campaign had agreed to anything less than a 100% seating of the delegates at 100% of their strength.

Nelson noted that he was speaking "on behalf of the voters of Florida," not on behalf of the Clinton campaign.

"They’re misrepresenting our stance," Davis said repeatedly.

Then Arthenia L. Joyner, Clinton’s designated Florida representative, approached the circle.

"The campaign is only for 100%," Joyner said.

Davis and Rep. Stephanie Tubbs Jones, D-Ohio, a fiery supporter of Sen. Clinton’s, exchanged some heated words with Ausman after the Florida DNC member suggested they had no business speaking.

Davis took issue with some from the Florida unity group saying the Obama campaign’s concession was "generous" since Clinton would net 19 delegates.

"That is not generous when they take away 50%," Davis said. "That is spin!"

What’s wrong with netting 19 delegates? "It’s 19 less than the people of Florida voted," Davis said.

This was more than Florida DNC member Ausman could apparently take. "I can say they’re being generous," Ausman said of the Obama campaign, "and I’m the one who filed the petition."

"Are you a paid staff member for Clinton?" Ausman asked Davis.

"Actually I’m just a friend," said Davis.

"Are you a designated representative of the Clinton campaign?" Ausman, who may be a foot taller than Davis, asked.

"I am not," Davis said.

"Why don’t you let the designated representative speak for Clinton and you be silent?" Ausman said, more a statement than a question. "Are you from Florida?"

"Why don’t you go about your business?" Jones asked Ausman.

"As a matter of fact I will not be silent," Davis said, "you’re not going to silence me."

"You had your interview," interjected Jones. "Why don’t you let someone else be interviewed? I am the designated representative for Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton. My name is Stephanie Tubbs Jones and I represent the great state of Ohio.

"We don’t expect that the Obama campaign will be so ‘generous’ as to ‘give’ us the 19 delegates," Jones continued. "It is in fact more generous and more appropriate to count all the votes as they were cast."

GO NASA!!

ROFLOL !!! Dawnelle.

On the post:

WHOAH!!! What an exchange!!!!

Nelson has been a punk for a while arguing for 1/2.

They are a bunch of sleazy pols playing dirty tricks and paid by Obama&Daley.
Shame on them for treating Obama like a “king” and the voters of FL&MI — we, the people (!)– like trash.

Comment by SusanUnPC | 2008-05-31 16:20:43

Should send that boob Nelson back into orbit - permanently — we need him as far from planet earth as NASA can take him. Send him to MARS!

Comment by Nellie | 2008-05-31 16:53:47

What is wrong with Jupiter?

More moons, more rings, much bigger - he could be gone a long, long time

Yes! It is an example of real international cooperation, a U.S. shuttle launching a Japanese lab to an international shuttle. This is far better than Barky’s plans to negotiate with terrorists and tyrants.

After Bush’s blunders, NASA remains one of the very few U.S. programs that still causes the world to respect and admire us. Not surprisingly, Obama wants to cut its funding.

SUCCESS!!!

These guys and gals will be spending a half a year on the ISS!! WOW~!

Comment by Bobbski | 2008-05-31 16:23:41

Watched the launch from my front yard.

Wow, indeed!

Kept it in sight beyond the point where the solid fuel boosters separated. Finally lost it about 40 seconds latern. It was just a tiny, tiny spot in the sky.

But early in the launch as it was riding the huge flame of the rocket exhaust, it was absolutely magnificent.

This is my 4th year of watching launches from the yard and it is still simply awe inspiring.

My front yard vantage point is about 40 miles WSW of the cape.

Comment by Dawnelle | 2008-05-31 16:35:52

Cool

When I lived in FLA we could see the launches from our roof when I was a kid and we lived in Sarasota!!

I’ve been at the Cape a few times too. We used to be able to get MUCH closer.

We were there when they went to the moon. We have it on reel to reel somewhere! I gag when I see it. I was a gawky pre teen who knew ZILCH about the historic event taking place!!

Comment by Bobbski | 2008-05-31 19:03:21

When the Apollo moon landing was being televised, I woke up our oldest, who was 3 at the time, to watch. I told him to pay attention and remember what he was about to see as it was the most historic event in history.

He is now closing on 42 and he remembers the day he watched Armstrong take that “one small step” on the moon.

From someone who was observing the rally today:

If the people at this rally are representative of Clinton supporters generally, the Democratic Party is going to be in serious trouble. These folks aren’t the least bit interested in backing down on this issue.

Why does FOX keep reporting that some deal has been reached between Obama and Clinton camps over FL, they keep saying this story of the giving of Hillary 19 delegates is that correct?

Comment by Andy | 2008-05-31 16:14:05

It’s about seated the full FL delegation with each delegate counting only 1/2 a vote. That would give HRC only a net gain of 19 delegates instead of the net gain of 38 that represent the choice of the people of FL.

Comment by Andy | 2008-05-31 16:16:02

“seating”

BTW : officially no deal has been reached and yesterday’s media call by the Clinton campaign was adamant and forceful in asking for full delegation with full vote each. They did that today as well.

Nelson is NOT representing the HRC campaign but Florida.

He is supposed to be a Clinton backer but “barely”.

He said “Fuck. This all started with Bush. He set the f*cking precedent. I hate to admit it, but it’s true.” He finally gets it.

He sees that Obama “frontloaded” this primary. His words. He wants to vote for Clinton. So do I.

Shit.

Comment by Caya | 2008-05-31 16:39:57

Comment by Kathleen | 2008-05-31 18:41:20

You’re absolute correct.

People, please listen. If you write-in Hillary, it doesn’t hurt Obama, it is just a symbolic gesture. They won’t count them and if they do, it won’t make a difference in stopping Obama from being elected.

If this goes down with Hillary bullied out of the nomination, the best and only way to express our outrage is to vote FOR McCain.

This whole primary process has been gamed before it even started. The only way to outmaneuver the DNC and their dirty scheme meant to usurpr the will of the voters and choose the nominee themselves is to deny Obama the presidency. The way we accomplish that is for as many of the 17 million + Hillary supporters to cast their vote for McCain.

It’s hard to manipuate the voting machine results when the number of votes cast are of this magnitude.

I’ve been witness to how they game the election process and believe me, this is the only way to stop Obama.

Comment by Montag | 2008-05-31 16:31:49

She CAN’T run as an Independent, it’s too late in the Calendar. The Texas deadline for ballot petitions just closed, for one. Also, some states have “Sore Loser Ma’am” laws which PROHIBIT the loser in a primary from running in the General Election. It’s just not doable. But I guess now you’ll say that the 51 Ballot Access Laws were “front loaded” against Clinton.

Here’s another one from the Boy Blunder…

Barack Obama express curiosity about the filming of a chase scene in “North by Northwest,” Alfred Hitchcock’s 1959 classic starring Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint that included a death-defying scramble over Rushmore’s presidential faces.

“How did they get up there in the first place?” he asked ranger Wesley Jensen.

“They didn’t. It was a movie set,” Jensen told him.

“Pretty spiffy, isn’t it,” said the Illinois senator, summing up his overall impressions.

Uh, huh-huh, okay Beavis.

Senator Nelson obviously wants some of Florida’s delegation to be seated and believes that half a loaf is better than none. That makes sense.

However . . . it is not what his voters want, so in essence, he’s overriding the will of the people in his state, who are demanding full and fair representation (see the group FloridaDemandsRepresentation.org for further details; they are non-partisan).

I am very impressed with Lanny Davis and have been; he is a great man. I am firmly convinced of this; he has guts and backbone and won’t back down from anyone — may the Deity of his choice bless him profoundly for that.

Once again, the rules should go by the boards; we need very much to have every vote counted and have every single last delegate seated. Period.

IOW, Lanny is right, and Bill Nelson is an idiot.

Comment by Fred C. Dobbs | 2008-05-31 17:10:08

I hope he’s chuckling when we all walk away.

Comment by Clara Barton | 2008-05-31 16:32:52

Unintended chaos, not a good sign for them –

if they were capable of seeing themselves as they really are, which they aren’t.

C-Span just announced that the committee is meeting “away from the cameras”. Wonder if they’ve got Al Capone back there???

Comment by Medusa | 2008-05-31 16:59:01

Well, that’s democracy for you. Meet away from the cameras so the people won’t hear what really goes on and will only learn what the lame MSM reports.

I’m so disgusted with this mess.

So much for it being in public…Pass me a cigar k?

We need more smoke in this backroom.

Dean made a comment insinuating that there would be a nominee prior to Denver. Good luck with that Dean.

So much for transparency. These people are idiots. They should never have agreed to have it televised at all if they are going to now pull back.

This is a bad move. It will fuel the speculation that they are doing nothing more than hitting on Hillary.

Obama really is superhuman, tosses whole church, filled with people(voters) under bus. LMAO He will not win.

Comment by Strawberry | 2008-05-31 17:10:53

I wonder how all those folks at Trinity Church feel about Obama now? His own people thrown under the bus for a bunch of rich, white people who Wright and Pfleger railed against. So how is he new and fresh again?

He can resign. The damage is done. And I bet he didn’t have the class to apologize to Hillary.
