2nd Thread: Medusa’s “After the RBC Theft, No Other Outcome is Acceptable”

Second thread beginning now. Previous original thread now closed. Read the original here OR below the fold:

CNN reports that Hillary swept Puerto Rico in a win that contradicts previous voting patterns in this primary:

Clinton won 70 percent of the male vote, 65 percent of voters under 30, 70 percent of voters who attended college, and 66 percent of voters with an income of over $50,000.Clinton also performed strongly among those demographic groups that have long constituted the backbone of her base. She won 70 percent of female voters, 77 percent of those over 65, 69 percent who did not attend college, and 71 percent of voters with an income of $15,000 or less.

Nevertheless, here’s how the NYT reports Hillary’s win in Puerto Rico:

Mrs. Clinton’s campaign chairman, Terry McAuliffe, called the island’s primary “another convincing win for Hillary” on CNN, and Mr. Obama conceded the race to her in a speech in Mitchell, S.D. “She is going to be a big asset going into November” in efforts to defeat the Republicans, Mr. Obama said.

A big asset? Only an unscrupulous sexist ass would say such a thing, and we now know beyond all doubt that Barack Obama sets the gold standard in sexism.

Obama appears to be under the impression that he can appropriate Hillary’s victories and more importantly, Hillary’s supporters. Can I say it any more clearly: I WILL NEVER VOTE FOR BARACK OBAMA. Obama not only doesn’t represent me, he exemplifies all that I find despicable in politicians. What we’ve learned about Obama since this primary season began is that he is the complete opposite of who he claims to be.As Deb Cupples points out, the RBC assigning half votes to Florida delegates was business as usual with Obama: a two-faced hypocrite stealing votes from Hillary. How do you think Obama’s come this far? We all know that the majority of his “votes’ came from caucusing and we know how the caucuses worked. Working people, those with young kids, and the elderly among others, couldn’t get to the caucuses, and the reports of Obama’s thugs threatening, destroying, forging, and corrupting the caucus process are manifold. Has the DNC done anything to check out these reports? Not to my knowledge. The question that I’m asking myself now: does the DNC represent me? Why did they give Obama four of Hillary’s Michigan delegates? Anglachel posted a theory about this:

Taking away delegates from Hillary and handing them to Obama, however, is not within their purview, and this will come back to bite them in the ass. First, as I said above, it indicates that the internal count of the Obama delegates is weaker than they claim. Four delegates should not make that big a difference, yet they obviously do even with the count reduced by the 50% rule. There is no other rational reason to force this misallocation for such a small number of delegates, given the blowback that will occur.

What’s this blowback going to look like? According to the NYT, Hillary and her supporters need to fall in line behind Obama:

In order for us to be successful in November, the runner-up is going to have to go all out in support of the nominee,” said Representative Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. “The runner-up is going to have to be there from Day One. The support is going to have to be more than just lip service.

However, I strongly agree with Harp, a commenter on NQ, who writes:

I have been a Democrat longer than Hillary and if she endorses BO she will lose my respect and my vote. This is not about Obama anymore. This is about the pillaging of the party. The DNC are corrupt and MUST be purged. No other outcome is acceptable.

If you want one of many ways to review the thievery that’s been happening, recommend you look at the well documented SD endorsements that have, in numerous states, contradicted and overruled the will of the people - and the voters of many states.

get a life. and a mind. and most of all some I-N-T-E-G-R-I-T-Y.

I’m not going to defend the absurd concept of super delegates, but with either option of firmly aligning supers’ votes to their constituents or abolishing supers all together, both options do nothing to help Clinton overtake Obama. Clinton’s only legitimate path to nomination left, even with a full seating of the FL and MI delegates, would require convincing the super delegates to vote against their constituents for her.

I’m not trying to argue for one candidate or another, and I think both Democratic candidates would win the general and make excellent presidents. I just hope that the cult of personality surrounding both candidates doesn’t interfere with the fact that no matter what this country cannot afford four more years of George W Bush.

Comment by It's Not Me | 2008-06-02 17:34:27

* 35.6 million people have voted
* The 37 primary states account for 97% of the vote.
* The 13 caucus states account for 3% of the vote.

Bottom line: Clinton’s lead is from 34.5 million voters (97%) in Primaries. Obama’s lead is from 1.1 million voters (3%) in caucuses.

BO is a FRAUD. he didn’t win this election. He stole it with the help of the DC elites, the DNC and the MSM.

I’m voting for McCain. I registered as a DEMOCRAT in 1973. Now, kiss my ass and leave. Don’t you have some delegates to steal or something?

I cannot WAIT to watch Obamarhoid LOSE in November, should he be allowed to steal the nomination. Hillary is going to the convention. HA!

Comment by eric | 2008-06-02 17:50:03

Does a team win the superbowl by having the most running yardage, the most QB sacks, or the most interceptions? Or is it the team that scores the most points?

Delegates are points. If Hillary can score more than Obama in the next primaries then she wins. It’s not stealing, it’s just how the game works.

Comment by C. S. | 2008-06-02 19:55:22

This is not a game; not football or baseball. There is no trophy awarded to the winner.

He/She serves and protects the Constitution of the United States, he/she represents all of the people in international affairs. He/She gets our vote if he/she does a good job and criticized if he/she does not. Artificial lines and goals and “points” have no meaning.

As the last almost 8 years proves, the future of these United States depends on the abilities of that president; and the lives of the citizens depend upon his/her judgment. These elections are serious business and taking votes away from one candidate and giving them to another candidate IS stealing.

Political parties have NO Constitutional standing and these two parties have interfered in too many elections to keep being a part of the process of choosing a presidential nominee.

Clinton’s only legitimate path to nomination left, even with a full seating of the FL and MI delegates, would require convincing the super delegates to vote against their constituents for her.

Actually, if all superdelegates voted as their constituents did, Hillary would lead in delegates. It is ironic that the abominable superdelegate system was supposedly created to see that an unelectable candidate was not foisted upon the party, when it is in fact going against the will of the voters to do exactly that.

If Hillary does not get the nomination, I will vote for McCain; and it has nothing to do with a cult of personality. I will vote for the person who will best lead the country for the next four years. The unqualified, sexist, ageist, racist Obama (and I won’t even mention the thuggish methods by which he gained his caucus victories) has divided this party to the point that it may never heal. There is no way I want to see him do that to the entire country.

Comment by curious george | 2008-06-02 18:10:06

How is Obama unqualified? He’s spent more time in elected office than Clinton. Abraham Lincoln spent less time in office than Obama or Clinton.

What has Obama said or done that is sexist, ageist, or racist?

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-06-02 18:55:02

I notice you are not arguing the thuggish means by which Obama won the caucuses.

Time in office alone does not qualify one to be President — if it did Robert Byrd would be the nominee. And Obama is comparable to Lincoln only in his own delusional mind. Hillary Clinton’s accomplishments make her a much better choice; Obama has got to have set a record for most years in elective office without having any legislation to his credit other than that hijacked from other legislators. And I believe he did set some sort of record in the Illinois Legislature for “present” votes — not exactly leadership.

Obama’s entire campaign has been devoted to demonizing women, the elderly and whites. Why are you now here whining “what did he say?” I thought the current story was that he doesn’t need our votes and we should not let the door hit up in the ass. Actually, now that I think about it, Obama has more than 99 problems, and a bitch IS one.

Comment by Mandelay | 2008-06-02 16:58:43

Let’s not make McCain “scary” so that Hillary’s supporters get spooked and run to Obama because they “have no other choice. Please. McCain is one of the leading politicians in the Senate who has repeatedly worked across the aisle. So he’s been around awhile, but that doesn’t mean he should be thrown on an old folks’ slag heap. That would be just as bad as throwing away the best candidate because she’s a woman. (What’s wrong with being over 70? Are people garbage when they reach that age? Maybe to Obama supporters but that’s their problem.) If Hillary cannot make it to the top of a ticket (any ticket would be fine with me as I hope she will run as an Independent), but if she does not make it, I will give John McCain an open-minded look and he just might be the first Republican who gets my vote since I claimed the right to vote in 1972. Hillary supporters, let us not join Obama’s effort to “reshape” the Democratic Party into the Obama Party. “The Party” has already demonstrated it does not want Hillary Clinton. Why should we support and reward DNC members behaving badly?

Comment by eric | 2008-06-02 17:41:53

McCain was a respectable politician, but he learned in 2000 that the GOP doesn’t want integrity and honesty. The GOP wants a candidate that will rattle sabers at boogymen, pump tax money into their buddies’ corporations, and cut taxes to the wealthy even as our economy spirals the drain.

McCain has sold his soul in a Faustian bargain in his last ditch effort to be president. In his run-on to the election he has changed his long-held stances on Iraq, the economy, and even torture.

We are talking about a politician who has aligned himself to the exact policies of the past eight years; who looks at the what has happened and says “stay the course”. We are talking about a politician who not only has proposed to keep current deployment levels in Iraq for eight more years, but is also drooling at the thought of bombing Iran.

Despite what any of us thinks about either Democratic candidate, voting for McCain would only be hurting yourself and our country.

Comment by Ulahane | 2008-06-02 17:50:46

McCain says he will close Guantanamo Bay and end waterboarding. That’s staying the course?

McCain says we need to make the fight against global warming a priority. That’s staying the course?

McCain has always supported a balanced budget. That’s staying the course?

McCain has frequently reached across the isle (McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy, etc). That’s staying the course?

Try again. Obama is the worst person in the running.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-06-02 17:55:06

Obama, puppet of the Illinois combine, is even more dangerous than McCain. If Obama cares about this country and thinks McCain would not be a good President, he should drop out now in favor of the qualified and electable Hillary Clinton, who would make a better President than Obama and McCain combined.

Obama is more like George W. Bush than McCain is. Obama has run the Bush campaign from the change and unity slogans right up to disenfranchising voters and stealing votes. He has no accomplishments, no qualifications, and apparently no ethics. As the campaign goes forward, more voters are catching on to what a sham and a conman he is — but for some unfathomable reason (money?) the DNC is hell-bent on making him the nominee by fair means or foul.

I have voted for every Democratic nominee since Carter. I am not a Reagan Democrat; but if the Democratic Party cannot run a selection process that actually counts all the votes and nominates the person most electable and most qualified, then they don’t get my vote this time.

Comment by sisterdo | 2008-06-02 18:08:51

What a pathetic attempt…..4 more years of Bush….scary McCain. Sell your wares to the Cult, they’re the only one’s buying.

He has experience, he works with Democrats, he’s never torn down the Clinton legacy. BO can say none of that.

Barack “Who Needs Experience, when you have Farrakhan to get a Seat for You” Obama.

Hillary or McCain. BO will never, ever, ever, ever, ever get my vote.

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-06-02 19:22:39

The right to have their votes fairly and completely counted was stolen from the voters of Michigan and Florida by Obama and the DNC.

If Hillary is not the nominee, then it’s President McCain.

Isn’t it ironic (and pathetic) that if you don’t support BO you’re accused of racism? It’s pathetic because it means that most Obamabots must be supporting BO only because he’s black so that they won’t think of himself as racists.

It’s also ironic that while trotting out that accusation, they feel free to say the most hateful sexist things about Hillary Clinton and her supporters, especially her female supporters.

BO is getting lots of mileage out of scaring people that they will be called racists. And his race has nothing to do with his lack of experience, inadequate policies, inability to convince working people and selecting unsavory people as associates.

BO is an elitist white guy with an African father. Hawaii, private schools, Harvard. Come on, the only thing BO has in common with American blacks is a bit more melanin in his skin.

I am not thrilled to be voting for McCain should Hillary not get the nomination, but McCain does love this country and is willing to put aside his own self interest when needed and do what is necessary for the greater good. Obama loves only himself and is so startlingly like George W. Bush that one could justifiably believe they are twins separated at birth. If either Bush or Obama had been given the option of early release as a POW, they would not have given a second through to their fellow POWs — their only query would have been “how soon can I leave?”

The true insanity would be voting for Obama and getting four more years of GeeDubya.

I will not compromise my PRINCIPLES! I will not unify behind a party of cheaters and liars who have shown us what the true definition of MORAL AND ETHICAL BANKRUPTCY is. I find it completely offensive and in full contradiction of AUTHENTIC Democratic principles and values.

No…I will not line up at the edge of the cliff so that I can simply be pushed off because the “party leaders” have instructed its sheeple to do the deed. How in the hell can anyone with sound mind consider such an act a promotion of “Unity”???

This weekend, the ENTIRE world saw that the Democratic Party is NO DIFFERENT than the Republican Party. Nice work, Dean and Brazille. You have done a spectacular job of LEVELING the “moral” playing field. I, for one, will not blindly follow “leaders” that clearly lack any semblance of a moral compass. I WILL NOT SELL MY SOUL. The expectation that any of us would do so is REPULSIVE on its face.

Everyday I walk into my high school classroom and I encourage my students to honor their values and beliefs. I will not become a hypocrite in order to appease the crooked and corrupt elements within my own party. I may be the last woman standing but I REFUSE to model behavior that will compromise my integrity. The youth of America deserve better than this.

I agree completely! I am an ardent Hillary supporter, but I will not support an Obama presidency, even if he chooses Hillary to be his VP. The fundamental issue of the sacred right to vote and to have that vote count is more important than whether or not Hillary Clinton has a future career in politics. The DNC has to be taught that they are there to represent the will of the VOTERS, and they CANNOT simply disregard 600,000 voters by saying, “Okay, voters, come together now in the interest of party unity”. What unity? What party? The Democratic party, as it now exists, no longer deserves our support, and I will vote for McCain in November! THIS IS STILL A DEMOCRACY! [or is it???]
