MSNBC Has a Problem With The 1st Amendment

Apparently, along with suppressing truthful information about Barack Obama, bashing Hillary Clinton, pulling Race Cards out of their asses and deliberately thinking of and condoning as many gleeful sexist remarks as possible in any given segment, MSNBC also has a bit of a problem with Florida and Michigan’s 1st Amendment right to assemble outside the DNC Rules meeting.

In preparation for Marxism and rudely demanding to know “What is the value of this?” and “What’s the point?” MSNBC now thinks that, considering  they are all in the tank for Barack Obama, and in lieu of the possibility that they will ever actually report anything real about their Baby Jesus, they should also get to decide whether or not people have the right to assemble if it doesn’t benefit their special-case candidate.

I boycott MSNBC and NBC. I don’t see that boycotting channels that I don’t find objectionable makes a whole lot of sense. And even as you say it you must know that not enough people will do it to make any difference.

I long to see MSNBC and NBC taken down. I don’t want to see the History Channel and Sci-Fi etc. This makes no sense to me.

Or perhaps it’s just that I cannot possibly consider giving up Battlestar Galactica and Burn Notice. Not Gonna Happen!

Comment by TheViking | 2008-06-02 06:08:55

Is Burn Notice back on :o

Comment by Lucinda | 2008-06-02 06:37:35

“And even as you say it you must know that not enough people will do it to make any difference.”

I think the boycott of Keith Olberman is making a difference. According to last week’s Neilsen ratings, Olberman’s Countdown show only garnered 800,000 viewers while Bill O’Reilly’s show on Fox was watched by 2.1 million. That sounds like a huge difference to me.

I do NOT watch NBC news anymore, or any news that mentions Barack Obama I turn off. I do watch some of the shows on NBC, but less and less of them.

I can only hope that Andrea Mitchell felt as stupid as she sounded and looked while she was “questioning” Howard Wolfson - what a stupid interview!

Comment by NY still loves Hillary | 2008-06-02 07:22:46

Wouldn’t know - I refuse to watch that Obamabot or read her articles. She’s sooooo far up Barky’s butt that she can brush his teeth from the inside.

Comment by seemeatthebeach | 2008-06-02 12:20:59

I lost any respect I had for Andrea Mitchell after listening to this interview.

Comment by Gary McGowan | 2008-06-02 13:43:40

Isn’t her hubby Sir Alan “Bubbles” Greenscum, economist extraordinare, and creator of the clever scheme of bundling mortgages and trading them in the great casino he and others call the “free markets?”

Gee, I can’t imagine what she’d be defending. Maybe she’s shooting for the female equivalent of “Sir” and night-hood and all that.

Comment by Northwest rain | 2008-06-02 15:15:55

That would be Dame Andrea– (not damned Andrea)

I cannot stand to watch interviews by Andrea Mitchell (but thanks for providing it, with commentary, Uppity!). Ms. Mitchell needs a refresher course in Journalism 101. I can’t believe she thinks the Clinton campaign actually organized the protest. She must have Howard Wolfson confused with Plouffe, whose supporters are just ‘a mouse click away’. How idiotic.

Comment by Ann On | 2008-06-02 03:07:28

They can’t figure out why Hillary stays in the race, so of course it’s a mystery to them why anyone would bother protesting her being elbowed out of it. WWTSBQ? (Why Won’t The Stupid Bitches Quit?)

Boycott MSNBC!! Hill supporters, do not tune in. We need to find out who their advertisers are and complain to THEM; tell them you will no longer buy their products and explain why. It always works. That’s how to hurt MSNBC. Can anyone find a list of their advertisers?

In the meantime, here, write and complain:

There are a STAGGERING number of media outlets owned by General Electric. If you – like me – are interested in closing the noose around MSNBC and the likes of Silly Andrea, Tweety, Keith Olbarmann, and Meet the Mess, it is important to quit watching the rest of the General Electric family as well. Some of these names are going to be painful to turn off … and it is hard to believe all of these familiar names. If you doubt me, head over to Wikipedia … Your local stations will be listed there as well … and I am not referring to the local outlets …. they also own some key market stations …. greedy greedy greedy GE ….

A&E
Biography Channel
Bravo
Chiller
CNBC
CNBC World
Crime & Investigation Network (Hey! What happened to our Party?)
EMKA LTD – British Racing Team … seriously …
History Channel, History Channel International and en Espanol
Military History Channel
MSNBC
Mun2
NBC
NBC Sports, News, Studios
NBC Entertainment
NBC Universal Sports and Olympics
NBC Universal Television
Sci Fi Channel
Sundance Channel
Sleuth
Telemundo
Tivo – seriously?!
USA Network
Universal HD
Vivendi Universal (music 80% owned)
Universal Studios

Okay …. Does anyone see Designed to Sell up there? I am praying that there is SOMETHING left to watch!

Comment by Kinky Ogremann | 2008-06-02 06:03:08

You can’t boycott channels - they own everything and it probably wouldn’t even register with them! (and we need our History channel!) Besides, MSNBC has very low ratings - they only care and will change when their advertisers threaten to pull out. GLAAD effectively managed to get them to block Savage’s show, as did people who got Imus kicked off for a while. Only way to do that is to contact the advertisers directly. Take names and start googling.

MESSAGE: Stop the sexism and misogyny and unfair treatment of Hillary Clinton!

I think it’s best to find out who their one major advertiser is and start full on email/letters/telephone calls war on them. That is the most productive way.

So - anybody know who is their biggest major advertiser?

I know of some - but don’t know which is the biggest:
Kelloggs, Johnson & Johnson, Enterprise Car Rental, Toyota, Geico, NationWide Inns. ???

Comment by susiewat | 2008-06-02 06:40:14

I do believe that NBC is the “official” station for the Olympic Games. Although I love to watch the Games and support the American athletes, I refuse to watch them this year. They generally don’t have very good ratings for the Games anyway, but I still think a boycott would help. They spend millions on these Games (I know I worked at a huge venue for the Games in 1996). I believe they start on August 8 - 08-08-08! UPS and Coca-Cola are two of the big sponsors of the Olympics.

Yeah, and I guess it’s hard to turn them ON when you can’t afford a TV!

Comment by Lucinda | 2008-06-02 06:50:31

I’m just boycotting MSNBC. All I want is for Olberman and his ilk to be taken off the air. If his show’s ratings sink low enough, they’ll cancel it.

Comment by Kinky Ogremann | 2008-06-02 07:10:17

They cancelled Tucker Carlson’s show - and found that it was very easy to find a replacement show with just the same number of ratings the very next day! These guys are SOOOOO replaceable - as people have nowhere else to turn - other than Fox News = the number 1 cable news network with over 2 million viewers.

Comment by Kinky Ogremann | 2008-06-02 05:25:07

They are owned by General Electric (GE). That is their main corporate body that owns all things NBC.

You can find their advertisers by watching their commercials and taking down names of the products and googling to find the name of the major corporation that supports them.

Heck, if the religious right could make them hold a hearing on media decency over Janet Jackson’s boob, this is so much more important. If people would just be willing to email them and write letters to let them know what pigs they are and stop buying their products, you can go a long way.

Comment by Kevin | 2008-06-02 05:39:37

At least they don’t own my local sports network. History and Sci fi will be tough to give up. As to hearings on their bias, I’ll e-mail the senior senator from Dewars and the biggest loser…

oh damn, its the K twins from MA

forget it

Here’s a few products advertising last week on Countdown - Crest Whitestrips, Vonage, AT&T, Bare Minerals Cosmetics, Wells Fargo… they key is to target two or three companies that advertise and bombard them with calls and letters. Personally I’d like to focus on advertisers on either Olbermann or Matthews shows - they have made the most flaming, insane and misogynistic remarks.

We got the Hillary Voodoo Kit pulled from Barnes and Nobel in 48 hours by many folks writing and calling their corporate headquarters. The power of the pen!

Instead of asking Howard, why doesn’t Andrea drag her ass out of a studio and go ask the demonstrators? Oh gee, that might be something like journalism, and God knows, getting out in the heat and humidity won’t help that makeup she has to put on with a trowel.

I wonder if folks like Howard grind their teeth when speaking to Mrs. Greenspan?

Comment by West Texas | 2008-06-02 01:47:42

I grind my teeth if I even catch a glimpse of Mrs. Greenspan.

However, have not turned on a cable news channel or a national news broadcast since WV night.

The insolence and dismissiveness are not missed.

Take a hike, America hater. Someone who has never watched US Cable TV doesn’t know that the following channels have excellent programming:

A&E, Biography, Bravo, Chiller, Crime&Investigation, History Channel, MSNBC, Sci-Fi, Sundance, Sleuth, Telemundo

Comment by wry | 2008-06-02 07:29:02

MSNBC is the PROBLEM! You don’t have to be an America hater to know that. I haven’t watched MSNBC or NBC for months - probably since that awful debate that SNL mocked. I can’t look at Timm Russert’s face.

I also skip CNN and get my news from FOX. I like Lou Dobbs, but I can’t look at Brazille.

I find I am much happier if I don’t look at them or listen to them. Obama too, I just turn him off. I f I need to know what was said, I read it in print. It’s better for me.

A nice observation by Bill Kristol — even idiots are right twice a day I suppose:

http://www.nytimes.com/2008/06/02/opinion/02kristol.html?_r=1&ref=opinion&oref=slogin

He [Obama] spoke on the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend at Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., pinch-hitting for Senator Ted Kennedy, on the theme of service to our country. [skip] More striking is Obama’s sin of omission. In the rest of the speech, he goes on to detail — at some length — the “so many ways to serve” that are available “at this defining moment in our history.” There’s the Peace Corps, there’s renewable energy, there’s education, there’s poverty — there are all kinds of causes you can take up “should you take the path of service.”

But there’s one obvious path of service Obama doesn’t recommend — or even mention: military service.

Don’t think Barky knows what that one means. Has he ever even met a veteran?

I think that we should demand that there be a limit to how ugly someone on TV is allowed to be. Andrea Mitchel is showing ugly to the bone.

Comment by connie floyd | 2008-06-02 07:45:44

Pagan Power, I am with on how ugly a person can be on TV. Mitchell seems to hate her job of interviewing people, is never smiles and seems almost irritated at having to do an interview. She is monotone and just doesn’t have it!

Comment by **== President & Commader-in-Chief Hillary Clinton **== | 2008-06-02 07:49:32

I made a rare exception to listen to Mitchell this morning in order to understand Uppity’s article. Mitchell seems to be jealous or hate Hillary. Mitchell also seems to goes out of her way to try and tarnish Hillary and her campaign as much as she can. And getting to Uppity’s point Mitchell doesn’t seem to live in the same country as the rest of us if she has any issue with protests and the 1st Amendment. And that’s the same 1st Amendment that allows her to say what she wants.

Comment by PG | 2008-06-02 10:42:02

Can we no longer criticize whether someone’s exercise of their 1st Amendment rights is *useful* without being accused of opposing the 1st Amendment? I have questioned whether pro-choice rallies are actually the best way to help reproductive rights in this country — I guess I now hate the Bill of Rights.

Comment by Arius | 2008-06-02 10:55:51

I never liked or respected Chris Matthews, he’s such a empty blowheart who REALLY thinks he’s the cat’s meow. But to see the behavior of Andrea Mitchell this last year is a huge disappointment to me. She’s completely unrecognizable anymore.

Just how much is the devil paying these days for one’s soul?

Comment by Madison | 2008-06-02 17:14:39

Yes we can boycot thes networks stations! Yes we can.I can give a flying hoot if I even watch any TV again. And hey Their rateing are rateing. And many here can to do it.I have. And it’s so peacefull.
