Notice how the congregation of the God Damn America Church in inner city Chicago behaves in a manner similar to that of Obama supporters attending a rally in Cincinnati, Ohio. Overzealous, idolatrous, unrestrained, heathenish, unruly and lawless are adjectives that come to mind unbidden when I view the following videos:

Another word these spectacles prompt is regressive. Does anyone recall the Allegory of the Golden Calf? Is Obama the idol that sprung from the fire in which a group of desperate Democrats impetuously smelt their gold? And who will rescue us from this benighted condition? Will we be forced to consume the object of some Democrats’ fanatical regard? And for how long will we be punished for the transgression of mobilizing around the debased image of Barack Obama?

In fact, members of the Rezko jury did say words to that effect. Apparently, they understand better than our elected leaders the damage actually caused by pay-for-play politics.
Blagojevich and Obama sound like every other politician who has ever made buddies with a sleazebag who enriched himself at the public’s expense.

If Obama can’t tell a lowlife crook from an honest guy, maybe he should make a TV commercial saying as much before he becomes president and starts appointing Supreme Court justices, U.S. attorneys and CIA and FBI directors.
Obama didn’t know that Rezko. Yet he’s still saddened by the verdict, even after all that has been made public.
Fitzgerald’s office should be able to focus its efforts on terrorism, organized crime and corporate corruption.
Instead, the FBI has been forced to form an entire unit in Illinois just to investigate public corruption.
That’s a good thing for the people of this state, but it says something very bad about our public officials.
So long as Blagojevich, Obama, Chicago Mayor Richard Daley and other elected leaders identify more with their corrupt friends than the citizens they victimize, nothing is going to change.
A lot of people in Illinois are fed up. The Chicago Combine is responsible for Blagojevich and Obama getting their current positions of Gov and Sen.
I will not be voting for Obama or Durbin this time around.

I was near to giving up on NQ comment thread and this really saddened me and left me feeling alone. But I just couldn’t keep coming and getting my energy depleted watching the trolls pull down and debase the valuable, informative and thought stimulating thread. Now I feel relief and positive anticipation that we can share our collective focus in more solution-oriented discussion.
Also want to say thanks for Craig’s article, and others recently, that you are providing at NQ - which bring us clearer and closer to the actual underlying issues behind the collective nightmare we see happening. Without picking off trolls, like bloodsuckers, off our skin, this site can be what it really is - informative, inspiring and uplifting.

Obama got the nomination because of the superdelegates
who chose to support him and turned their backs on their states and Hillary.
The Democrats need to erase all of the superdelegates and find a solution on electing a nominee.

Pringle’s Follow the Money: Final Chapter - Curtain Time for Obama is the best of the series for summarizing how Obama, especially as Chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee, abetted Rezko’s influence peddling schemes.
The Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act had to be passed–and this is where Obama, Rezko’s #2 man, played a role.
BTW, Rezko was counting on Gov. Blag. becoming President and that Patrick Fitzgerald–the Elliot Ness going after the pervasive Chicago/State of Illinois corruption– was going to be “replaced.”
From the trial: Rezko told witness Ali Ata: “Do not cooperate with the government, don’t worry, the top federal prosecutor, Patrick Fitzgerald, will be replaced.
Assistant US Attorney, Reid Schar, delivered the closing argument for the government:
There was no mystery about how Rezko gained control over the Teacher’s Retirement System board and the Health Facilities Planning Board to pressure companies and individuals hoping to get state business for kickbacks, Schar told the jury.
“The answer to that question is access and clout and it stems from Rezko’s ability to raise a lot of money,” Schar said. “He is one of the top fundraisers for Gov. Rod Blagojevich,” he noted.
Rezko gained power over the Planning Board by stacking it with members whose vote he could control, Schar said. The chairman was reappointed after delivering a $1,000 contribution to Rezko for Blagojevich and two others contributed $25,000 before getting appointed.
Tony Rezko is a private citizen. Therefore, the evidence presented in the trial focused on his influence over officials in getting members appointed to the Boards. Prosecutors did not discuss how the legislation got passed that enabled the Planning Board to be set up in a way that allowed for the appointment of members to rig the votes to begin with.
That part of the scheme will likely be detailed in future indictments, probably starting with Blagojevich. Blagojevich signed the Illinois Health Facilities Planning Act with an effective date of June 27, 2003. However, before he could sign the act, a bill had to be passed by the Illinois House and Senate.
As discussed fully in Curtain Time Part II, Obama was the inside guy in the senate who pushed through the legislation that resulted in the Act.
Obama was appointed chairman of the Senate Health and Human Services Committee. The minute the bill was introduced, it was referred to his committee for review. The sponsors of the bill also served on this committee with Obama. Within a month, Chairman Obama sent word to the full senate that the legislation should be passed.
On May 31, 2003, Senate Bill 1332 passed and specified that the “Board shall be appointed by the Governor, with the advice and consent of the Senate.” The legislation reduced the number of members from 15 to 9, paving the way for the appointment of a five-bloc majority to rig the votes.
The corrupt members appointed included three doctors who contributed to Obama. Michel Malek gave Obama $10,000 on June 30, 2003 and donated $25,000 to Blagojevich on July 25, 2003. Malek also gave Obama another $500 in September 2003.

Really glad discussion came back around to Chicago as Olympic’s site. Was no accident that bobama came back to Chi-town, right after Rezko verdict, to pump up the city behind something they want - his typical bait and switch technique - to draw attention away from the city and state’s actual state of disgrace.
Want something constructive to do? Find out how to reach the Olumpics committee - or those influential within their current short-list selection. Then send them some links to the HUGE OUTBREAK of violence in Chicago this spring - and send them the links to Black Panther group and other radicals based there. Throw in whatever best post about Rezko. Then ask them if they really want to take a chance on an Olympic location that is a volatile security risk for visiting attendees - where hate groups and sniper violence required the city police to be recently armed, instead of hand guns - with MACHINE GUNS.
Let’s get Chicago the bad press it deserves to defeat its bid for the Olympics. Otherwise its one more piece of chicanery that obama will steal the credit for - to buy back the voters of IL. The State Leg there has kept dragging their feet on the voter recall bill to dump the Gov - and this is very likely what they’ve been holding out for!

This is a very powerful post - and if read carefully, is quite scary. Hence the intensity of the comments heretofore.
I see the theme of this blog as Prophetic. We human beings have been warned again and again and again of the costs of pursuing idols and “false saviors”. A careful reading of the sayings of Jesus of Nazareth as reported through the filters of the writings many of us know as the New Testament tell us that the worship of a false savior is at the core of all of the other “deadly sins”.
Think about this from the Democratic Party’s perspective - the worship of money, the worship of “winning” for winning’s sake, and the worship of Obama’s ability with words have all been transformed into the “worship of the idea of Obama”. In this worship, the party is turning AWAY from its core principles of working for shared prosperity and shared power, of finding political solutions that provide economic viability and sustainability to those who are not already wealthy or educated or a member of the political “power structure”.
This blind adoration of the “brand” of Obama will (not “might”, will) result in so many unrealized expectations, that we will put at risk an entire generation of political activists whose energy could have been channeled much better by the candidate with greater substance.
