Andrew Sullivan’s Overdetermined Tendentiousness
By Truthteller on June 9, 2008 at 1:41 PM in Obama's Thugs, Obamedia

And there he reclines on his swivel chair in his antiseptic office. Flanked by two dogs, the hirsute critic types a few mindless words as the computer slides onto the rippling folds of excess flesh that spill off his lower abdomen. “Not glib enough, not misogynistic enough,” he mutters to himself. He slowly lifts his lame wrist and languorously depresses the delete key. Suddenly he remembers the letter he received from a contact in the Obama campaign who explained how all political commentators must refer to Hillary Clinton’s supporters with the barbarism “Dead-Enders.” He also remembers how he is charged with exasperating Hillary’s followers at all costs. Staring at the opaque space that lies just beyond his aquiline nose, he struggles to recall a verb that evokes the image of a hysterical woman. He ruminates; he struggles; he licks the beads of sweat glistening on the surface of his unkept beard. “Hyperventilate,” he screams. And he raises his flaccid wrists in order to resume the arduous task of writing once again.
Animals are allowed into the narrative space of Andrew Sullivan, but women, particularly bright, bespectacled women, are debarred entry. Women, after all, threaten the androcentric field onto which he and other men predicate their phantasms and identities. So there she stands, gazing in from without, a pane of glass separating her from the system of signs only Sullivan and his imaginary phallus can manage. She remains outside of language; she remains outside of the grid of the intelligible; she remains spectral; she remains invisible. Besides, he cannot descry her in that warped space he animates into existence with his myopic regard.
So he mindlessly cites some text, eliding what RonKSeattle and others have demonstrated again and again: Obamabots have assumed the identities of vociferous Hillary Clinton supporters across the world wide web. Allow us to offer another demonstration, lest the torpid Sullivan once again cannot discern the object that looms before his penile eyes.

Let’s not fool ourselves here. Being a McCainBot isn’t any better than an ObamaBot.
McCain isn’t a maverick. He flip-flopped on the war, he flip-flopped on Bush’s tax cuts for the rich, he flip-flopped on warrantless wiretaps, and he voted with Bush 95% of the time in the Senate last year.
Bush and McCain are very, very close on the issues. And McCain stands very far apart on the issues from Hillary.
If you’re a true Hillary supporter, I don’t understand how you could vote for McCain. He doesn’t support her stance on Iraq, the economy, universal health care, education reform, and a lot more.

I agree, I can’t imagine voting for a person who stands at odds with Hillary on almost every issue.
Voting McCain is not the best option for Hillary supporters.
Remember that Hillary has spent 40 years in public service fighting with integrity for the issues she believes in.
McCain is against Hillary on Iraq, on health care, on education reform, and on the economy. McCain actually stands with Bush on most of those issues, and look what the last 8 years of Bush gave us.

I understand the anger directed at Obama, but McCain is a man too.
Do you think the Republican party will EVER have a woman run for their nomination? They are a ‘good ole boys’ club that has their glass ceiling near the floor.
I think what it comes down to is the issues. Hillary spent 40 years of her life fighting for woman’s issues, and for issues that affect all Americans.
Her platform was for universal health care, ending the war in Iraq, reforming our education system, and fixing the economy.
Yet McCain stands at odds with Hillary on all those issues. He’s even against a woman’s right to choose, one of the most basic liberties afforded to us.
Can you really call yourself a Clinton supporter if you vote for McCain? I think nothing could be more dishonorable.

Three identities; three false electronic mail accounts; one Internet Provider address: Hillary supporters are transformed into Obambots.
He smirks, he shrugs, and he ignores the evidence. He does, however, gasp. He hyperventilates.
And there he reclines on his swivel chair in his antiseptic office. While you have some interesting points (the same IP address for multiple accounts and all), why the digs at gays and jews? It hurts your credibility, and makes me question whether or not you are in fact a democrat.
For someone who is complaining about unfair treatment against women, you certainly make a lot of “limp wrist” and “aquiline nose” jokes. There’s a word for it: bigotry.
I actually used to read Sullivan’s blog. He wrote a lot about torture when it first hit the news and I commend him for it. Then his blog turned into this vile, repulsive hate fest (without comments, natch). Only correspondence he posted was about how wonderful he was.
Remember how the left hated him–once he became an Obama follower, they loved him. I guess that is all Little Roy** needed to feel loved.
**thanks Eric
OMFG???
I never said that and that’s NOT my email address but I am DAWNELLE
WTF???
who stole my name?
I thought that sounded unlike you.
Thank you!
I’d never tell ANYONE to switch to BHO for any reason! EVER!
I do agree with the first line I supposedly said even though I don’t believe I ever did……… I think both BOTS are equally as NASTY!
Hell it`s happened to me 3 times already.
except HARP probably isn’t your real name
I like Larry have almost always used my own name. Too late now.
Well, I hope we get CLUB hats or balls or bats? Something?
T shirts?
I knew it.
The IP address will be taken care of. Larry is collecting them I am sure.
LOL*…..someone is running around as AnninCO posting all kinds of nonsense.
Consider it a compliment.
Barack Obama “supporter” steals $1 million in lifetime benefits from Illinois taxpayers
Obama book goes on sale
Andy Martin on the struggle between McCain, Obama and Clinton
Obama supporters smear Andy Martin to block book sales
Andy Martin calls Senator Barack Obama an anti-Semite
Any Hillary supporter who now supports McCain is showing that they care very little about the actual issues. Just like the poster here who said, literallym “I don’t care about the Iraq war”.
And they don’t care much about reproductive rights, either, apparently. As demonstrated by the Court’s recent Carhart decision on the Partial Birth Abortion Ban, the Supreme Court intends to chip away at Roe, and it will continue to do so if McCain wins and appoints more justices like Alito and Roberts.
It is not “blackmail” to point out this fact. Blackmail would be Obama saying, “Vote for me, women, or I will appoint Justices like Alito and Roberts when I win.” But Obama isn’t the one who will appoint justices like them; it’s McCain who will do so. That’s just a fact of life.
If you care about the Iraq War, or reproductive rights, you cannot honestly vote for McCain.
It’s goes to show how stupid you are…. We are voting for McCain because The DNC, the SDs left us with that choice. Voting for Obama goes against everything that is democratic, American and lawful… You selected a nominee, and now you want use to vote for him….the most unqalified person…. what has Obama done for America…. Hillary worked her all life to make America a better place. McCain gave part of his body to America. What has Obama done…..???? Stealing vote, bullying SDs, demeaning women, calling everyone racist……Obama is a weasel…a faithless peice of shit that MUST be flush down into history…. McCain has shown alot of character by working with democrats for the good of the country. And McCain is not Bush. NOBAMA. Suck on that you drone.
Sorry. Your little wedge issues aren’t going to work this time around. We’ve heard it all before. Roe v. Wade isn’t going anywhere and even if it did, that’s not my problem anymore. I’ll just let the 20-something Obamarhoids worry about it now.
If Roe v. Wade was so sacred to them/you, you would have supported the woman who has spent her entire life fighting for women’s rights.
I’m voting for McCain and have been a Democrat for 35 years and never voted for a Republican, EVER. I will this year as a vote AGAINST BO.
Enjoy your President McCain because BO will not win.
Hey it’s not my fault he’s a fat hairy pig that women don’t want to date! Put your fork down man!
Those of you who follow Rezkowatch’s blog have already read about the “Echo chamber” on the internet, planned by Barack Obama, and led by the same swine who did it for Dean. Everything they do is by command of the Obama campaign folks. Obama knows all about this and, like the sack of shit he is, he is enjoying it too. All the more you must make sure that everyone you have any influence over in your life does not vote for this bag of crap. He is the last thing you want to have the power that is bestowed upon the Most Powerful Position in the World. He’s a crude swine. This is why he is usless impromptu. WIthout a podium script and a messianic crowd, he is nothing. He can’t even put two words together. He’s an actor in his own B movie. He’s a Reality show, folks.
Print out filthy messages that you find here or anywhere on the net. Show them to your friends and relatives. Take the worst ones. Show them to anyone and everyone. Show every Jew you know the screen shot of just what Barack Obama thinks of them. Truly, gang there is something to offend everyone that has been crapped out by an Obama ass on the net.
These pigs don’t even know there is a world away from their computers. That’s YOUR world. Most people don’t even know who DK is. It’s a community unto itself. The majority of the country couldn’t care less about him.
Use the Real World to stop Obama. I can attest that it Works!
Uppity, I’ve got this feeling that something is about to give. I can’t but help but be reminded of Bahgdad Bob saying how Saddam had everything undercontrol while US tanks were rolling down the road less than a mile from him. The screeching is reaching a fevered pitch. Oh and by the by, No Quarter is the only blog I comment at anymore. This berry loathes Barry. Just in case I’m on the Obamabot radar. Hell, this is nothing, you should have seen how Bushbots trashed me a while back. I’m used to it.
They can come and get me at my house if they want to. Right after I empty my clip and my dog has a snack. I have been in this movie before.
Living in the country is probably plenty of protection against the Obamabots — they don’t come out to where the “natives” live — you know the gun owing, white trash.
After have met a bunch of Obamabot thugs at the caucus — I call tell you that they are deranged lunatics — they are flaming crazy.
Anyone who can draw this sort of bat shit crazy people is someone who needs to be jailed — because he is a crook and a con man.
The Obamabot women at the caucus appeared to be harmless — they bought into Obama’s plastic Jesus crap — “He’s going to change the world. . ” blah blah — they saw him as a rock star.
There are times when I think the Second Amendment is just the grandest thing…
Scrap my “women won’t date him” remark. I didn’t even know the guy was gay. I never pay attention to that stuff. BUt I would think that a gay man would be concerned about Barack Obama’s intentions for gays and lesbians, considering some of his actions on the trail.
Everybody call into to CORBETT radio host thats for Hillary 100% and let your Hillary support be HEARD in 50 states 3.pm est Monday
http://wilknetwork.com/pages/322229.php
Great imagery…remember when he was on Bill Maher and when he got up at the end of his show, he picked his ass…I guess trying to get his twisted panties out of his backside.
Gee….I think “back then”, even DKos was mocking him…now they’re all a**hole buddies.
Awwww!!! G*d Damn! I can’t get that image out of my head. That was sooo disgusting. Andrew Sullivan doesn’t know his nose from his ass.
Might that be because his nose is firmly planted so far up Obama’s that that might be why Obama got so very confused between breathalizer and inhaler? I don’t believe that Sullivan has asthma, whereas ….
Does Andrew get a clue just how much BO cannot abide gays? Probably less than Andrew likes women …
**gag***
Truthteller — I’m all for criticizing Sullivan.
BUT — why the anti-gay epithet? “Limp wrist” used at least twice here?
Why? Are you trying to turn off gay supporters? Are you just a bigot who knows no better or worse doesn’t care?
I was with you in your critique until the “limp wrist” remark.
We all know Sullivan is gay — but get a clue — no one in the gay community likes him. He’s a pariah. He’s an idiot.
But not because he’s gay.
Did you throw that in to make him look worse? Are you using old right wing tactics to make enemies look worse by adding to their profile the fact that they are gay — Horrors! That means they must really be awful.
Or are you just a school yeard bully (not even tough enough to throw the “fag” word)? But that’s what bullies are — Not Tough Enough. Just blustery wimps.
I don’t tolerate anti-gay speech/actions no matter whom they target.
Grow up and apologize.
I will not apologize, especially as I am a gay man who always criticizes a gay man when he violently disavows the feminine in order to sustain a domain of abjected specters.
How is it that you’re using susanunpc’s email address? (That’s what it says when you click Truthteller).
Are you really Susan?
Are you a gay man who doesn’t have an email acount of his own?
Or, are you just saying you’re gay so as not to have to own up to your error?
I do not wish to receive letters from my detractors. And yes, I am male, and I do sleep with other men. I also reserve the right to criticize other gay men, especially when their stereotyped behavior bespeaks predilections and sentiments I find utterly distasteful. I will defend what I wrote, and I sit here knowing I have the background to defend each and every single word I typed.
I would think truthteller is also attacking Sullivan’s pretentious behavior.
Limp-wristed means effeminate and weak. It is one of the traditional euphemisms for being gay HOWEVER
He slowly lifts his lame wrist and languorously depresses the delete key.
And he raises his flaccid wrists in order to resume the arduous task of writing once again.
The reference was admittedly deliberate, but I think truthteller’s argument was legitimate. The whole tone of the piece was more about how Andrew Sullivan is a fat ass, misogynist shitbag pansy using his keyboard to pathetically act out feminine-directed revenge at the expense of Hillary supporters.
And yes, the term limp-wristed can also imply histrionic behavior or pretension as claribel said here. I think one instance was enough in the article, since it seemed a stylistic choice. It’s a blog, though, so whatever. No bar for literary excellence here, especially where Andrew Sullivan is concerned.
Philly Joe is right that gay-bashing should not even be hinted at, though. I retract the term “pansy.”
I agree with him, but I do not believe my reiteration of heternormative stereotypes of gay men is here put to the service of a critique of a normative gay subjectivity and not in the service of violence against gay men.
I didn’t say you shouldn’t criticize other gay men.
I loathe Sullivan. He is an abomination.
But, even if you are gay, using those terms in a mostly non-gay arena, lets people think it’s OK to use anti-gay terms. (As witness the panty remark in another post.)
Look, I’m a long time gay activist. I’ve been on the hustings battling homophobia for quite a while and so I never allow this sort of thing to pass without comment.
Ripping Sullivan to shreds is fine with me — there are plenty of gay men and lesbians who deserve to be critiqued.
But not the way you did it.
I’m with you against Sullivan and BO. I’m appalled by the sexist treatment that he and others used on Hillary.
But I can’t defend the use of anti-gay terminology against even as loathesome a piece of shit as Sullivan.
I modified some of the adjectives. I hope you find the revisions satisfactory.
if it means squat
I never put limp wrist in the sexual catagory
I always thought it to mean WEAK
like arm wrestling
I’m 52 and not really that naive.
But I’m straight so maybe it’s because most of my conversations don’t include gay or racist innuendo
this whole campaign has opened a pandora’s box of egg shells
jmo
i try to never offend
(other than cuss BAD, sorry)
Look, I think that oppressed people should take these insults as their own and not let the oppressors “take away words and phrases.
For example, I am a woman and I have been called bitch many times. I am now embracing that term (ala Tina Fey) and am Proud to be a Bitch, because Bitches get things done and it is the new Black (please Obama followers, don’t come up with that lame retort, because he won’t be President, it will either be Hillary if the Dems wake up or McCain).
Superb post regading the English gas-bag.
What’s with that anyhow? I know plenty of gay men in my arts community and they are great friends. Being in their company is a hell of a lot more fun than the company of some of the “straight” men I have known in my life. I think the ones who demean or hate women have personal issues all their own, but thank God they are in the minority, at least from where I sit.
This man could not make out in a prison with a fist full of pardons. Be it a man’s or a woman’s prison.
why do you think he is so angry.
Andrew Sullivan is in the same vein as a certain type of gay man who existed in the early 1930’s, like the architect Phillip Johnson, who seemed attracted to political extremes (Fascism in the case of Johnson) and Communism (in the case of Guy Burgess)
Andrew is a British ex-pat who came here under the spell of Ronald Reagan. How any self-respecting gay man can swoon over the Reagan era with its’ refusal to acknowledge let alone fund AIDS research is beyond me.
Needless to say the kind of gay man that Sullivan is is a throw back to that very early 20th century gay culture that venerated the male (the Greek ideal) while magnifying the misogyny that already existed toward the female of society. It was the boys club on steroids; no girls allowed!!
He really as no place for women except in his supposedly beloved Catholicism where a woman virginal and merely a vessel to bring the male into existence; The Mary Syndrome. Once she exerts herself beyond that realm, Sullivan cannot process and then goes on the attack. He may on ocsasion give rudimentary lip service to the plight of women in “closed” societies but it does not come from a true base of concern. He merely addresses it from time to time to fill space.
And I am a lesbian lest anyone think I am anti-gay.
Sullivan is actually the kind of gay man who believes his status in society affords him a greater protection than others. He really doesn’t care about anyone else, save himself. He is like Roy Cohen and Larry Craig in that regard.
the ultimate Male Chauvinist!! lol hilarious! What a fart blossom.
he is a media who.. e, as the rest of the obamedia.
I agree with your analysis — and yes, there was that element in the gay world at that time.
Sullivan is no doubt in that, mostly British, mold.
But that doesn’t mean we can throuw anti-gay epithets around when criticizing him.
If we want to unite against the Big BO, then we all have to be together on this.
We are together. I am here noting how a certain version of gayness is predicated on the violent disavowal of the feminine.
so true….
Yes — I understand and I agree. There was (and in some quarters still is) that kind of attitude.
I guess what I’m confused about is the hypocrisy of someone like Sullivan, ie, it’s NOT OK to ridicule gay men, (and no, it’s not) but it is OK for him to propagate misogyny.
I think it was AnninCA, made the point many of the bots, both Bush and Obama, are very immature.
Sometimes the only way to get through to them is to speak their language, the language of a 10 year old boy. They only cooperate when they face threat, fear, and ridicule, whether it be physical, or verbal. It is typical of the sociopathic personality to only respond to a power greater than itself (though I’m not indicating Sullivan is sociopathic).
Sullivan does a GREAT disservice to women, to humanity, by using his pulpit to justify prejudice and hatred against others, Frank Rich also comes to mind.
You cannot reason with him, or those who think like him.
Should I be flattered to have become enough of a thorn in the Obamessiah ass that his SS net troopers have attempted to troll with my nick? Maybe a little, but not enough yet. Now it’s time to turn up the fire on these little wusses! Every person I see is going to hear about Obama’s dirty tricks in the campaign, his connection to Rezko and so on. Every place I see Obamatons rehashing the same old BS lies, I am going to call them on it with facts, figures and links to creditable sources. And I will always wear my signature now. Any post without it will be instantly knows as bogus Obamaton bullshit, for I will never join the abomination that is the Obamanation!
Those you see following the Obamessiah are not Democrats, though the species may try to look similar. They are in fact nothing but JACKASSES!
P.U.M.A.
Is that REALLY you, PO’dVet?
If yes, glad to see “you”.
Yeah Poor PO’d has been forged a lot in the past 24 hours.
Someone posed as you at my blog too. And as several other regular contributors here.
yes we’re in a uniquely disturbing club
not sure I like it either
That sucks, man!
I thought I had read your posts across the ‘nets, and generally agreed with them, but I saw a post with your name and responded to it (it was an obamapod person with ur name).
Hope you get them back!
POd, if frequency of forgery is a sign of envy, you are the King.
*LOL* Thats ok, I think everyone is used to my signature by now and will know the trolls on sight. Kinda hard for them to give a pro Obama message and use my sig slamming him and the DNC Elite
By the way, there are a group of Hillary Rapid Responders at http://clintondems.com trying to get in touch with others who were official HRR’s so if any of you happen to have had the honor, please drop by and give them a hello. They are trying to get some of them back together to work as a group and keep fighting for Hillary.
Those you see following the Obamessiah are not Democrats, though the species may try to look similar. They are in fact nothing but JACKASSES!
P.U.M.A.
For the record: I’ve been reading Sullivan’s blog for a year or so, appreciating his takes on torture and LGBT rights. Like Jenn, I have also been appalled by his anti-Hillary rants.
However, I don’t like the mockery of his sexual preference in the current post here at all. Racism and misogyny are not welcome on No Quarter; why should homophobia be OK?
And the notion that “women, particularly strong women, are debarred entry” to his world isn’t quite right. Check his post of June 9, 8:20 a.m., titled “A Woman Alone.” It’s about Margaret Thatcher, and is only one of many appreciations of the former British prime minister on his blog.
Finally, he does indeed post views from his readers contrary to his own, sometimes with and sometimes without comment; he typically titles them “Dissent of the Day,” and some days there are more than one. (He’s posted three of mine, all of them objecting to unpleasant comments he’d made about Hillary.)
So he’s a mixed bag (and aren’t we all).
This is not a phobic narrative. This is a narrative of gay mens’ violent disavowal of the feminine.
I agree with you.
Now if you could explain, K**, and the like, we’d be grateful.
yes but OUR gas smells MOUNTAIN FRESH!
hehehe! j/k
A wicked and fun rant!

DEMAND FOR RETRACTION AND NOTICE OF INTENT TO SUE
Dear Publisher:
I wish to notify you that you have posted false and defamatory information about me on your web site, and possibly in an upcoming edition of your magazine. If a prominent apology and withdrawal are not promptly forthcoming we will sue.
Your latest defamationnonsense makes a number of utterly false and scurrilous statements:
1. You claim that Senator Barack Obama, speaking to the AIPAC conference last week, was validating and responding to the fact that I am the “source of the rumors being used to spook Jewish voters…” I have nothing to do with any rumors being used to “spook” Jewish voters and know nothing about their source.
Barry Obama has problems with Jewish voters because of his long associations with anti-Semites and anti-Americans, not because of any e-mails I have circulated. As satirist Jackie Mason has suggested, any Jew who votes for Obama would be very misguided.
On the contrary, as early as 2004 I predicted what would happen when the truth about Obama became known. Accurately predicting a course of events does not make you a participant in them. You should be saluting me for my prescience, not smearing me with false accusations; but that wouldn’t make as juicy a story for your Christopher Hayes, would it?
I am a legitimate investigative columnist journalist whose name has been attached to anything I have circulated. As near as I can tell, I am routinely criticized by both Democrats and Republicans, so I must be the honest man in the middle. I do not do anonymous.
2. I am not an anti-Semite. This is a vile accusation and constitutes libel per se. The only citation for this accusation was the fact that a quarter century ago I was involuntarily involved in a bogus bankruptcy dispute in which I exposed massive corruption in the local federal court in Connecticut.
As a result of my battles and exposures, two (2) potential candidates for the U. S. Supreme Court may have later been rejected (Judges Joe Cabranes and Jon O Newman; the judges are still angry at me, decades later). Pleadings in lawsuits are privileged precisely because they do not necessarily represent the views of counsel or parties. For you to seek to brand me as an anti-Semite in 2008 based on involuntary participation in a lawsuit 25 years ago is irresponsible, outrageous and libelous.
Moreover, there was never any due process determination of the accusations you reference. In one case the record reflects I was not even a party to a lawsuit (Eleventh Circuit) and was gratuitously attacked by mendacious judges. In the case where I was a party no hearings on these false accusations against me were held by the crooked judges (Cabranes and Newman) involved. I exposed looting in the federal courts by local judges and their acolytes. In our society, judges do not have the power to brand people, and you certainly do not have the authority to accuse me of being an anti-Semite in 2008 based on undocumented accusations in a goofy lawsuit 25 years ago.
In point of fact, I am a strong critic of the U.S.’s Middle East policies, but I have also been a supporter of Israel. My Andy Martin Middle East Peace Plan in 2000 (available on the net with a little digging) called for U. S. troops to patrol the Green Line to separate Israelis from the new Palestinian nation and to protect each side from the other. A willingness to put Americans in harm’s way to protect Israelis is hardly evidence of anti-Semitism.
Barry Obama and his fellow travelers constantly circulate lies and false accusations about me to cover up and distract attention from his long history of anti-Semitism, from Reverend Jeremiah Wright to the Nation of Islam, to Father Michael Pfleger to (insert your own choice). I did not make Obama an anti-Semite. His record of anti-Semitism speaks for itself. Now Obama & Co. are trying to block sales of my new book on Obama, coming out this month, which is why The Nation is recirculating old smears. Why are they so afraid of me? Buy the book and find out.
I do not read the Nation but my views are generally considered to be well within the mainstream of Middle East peace discussions. Criticizing the “Israel lobby” does not make you an anti-Semite.
Mr. Hayes needs to go back to journalism school, and you need to supervise his writing much more closely. Hayes tries to create suspense out of nonsense. He asked me a year ago if I had written an anonymous attack piece on Senator Obama and I responded, “everyone who writes in this area is to some extent working off my original research.” That is in my opinion an absolutely correct statement of fact, which can be verified by looking on the Internet and seeing that people credit me with “outing” Obama in 2004. There is noting conspiratorial or improper about having made the unexceptionable claims about Obama that I presented then or since. They were all true in 2004 and they are true today (which is why Barry Boy is going down and taking the Democratic Party with him). And, to the best of my knowledge, I have never circulated any information or any e-mail about Obama without prominently attaching my name as the source. So your claim I am the mastermind of an anonymous “vast right-wing smear machine” is Hayes’ fantasy.
Because I have a book coming out this month (http://OrangeStatePress.com), and because I write generally on politics, your attacks on my credibility as a columnist and false accusations of anti-Semitism are libel per se. We recently sued the New York Times, and they have two law firms (with more to come) defending their nonsense, which was far less toxic than your own outrageous accusations.
If you would like to run a prominent apology and retraction promptly, I will not sue. Otherwise, we are headed to court.
Very truly yours,
ANDY MARTIN
I can’t wait to read this guys book!
Those you see following the Obamessiah are not Democrats, though the species may try to look similar. They are in fact nothing but JACKASSES!

Whoa. Looks like Martin is truly pissed.
Having just read Sullivan’s original rant I say without hesitation that you got the best of him. The guy is a gasbag anyway. It’s no wonder he spends his time attacking us. I find this all so humorous.
Me, too.
They take themselves SO seriously, and they have nothing to offer, nothing to say.
Gives an entirely new and delightful turn to the term fluffer … I like it more when not associated with sexual pornography but instead with political pornography. “I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced within that shorthand description [hard-core pornography]; and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. But I know it when I see it …” Potter Stewart
No real way to fully describe the past primary season either …
I believed for a long time that Sullivan’s book, Virtually Normal, helped me come out. It sunk deep into my psyche. But now that I know how pathetically gynophobic and sexist he is I will try to expel every word of that over-articulated, self-involved, academic-in-affect book from my subconscious. Anyway, I read Paul Monette’s masterpiece, Becoming a Man, before I read Virtual. Sullivan isn’t half the man.
I think it was great. Just go with the flow truthteller.
Does anyone else feel like somethings about to blow. Can’t remember where I read it at the moment, but the is a great blog about a pus ball. It is really great.

As Obama Travels To North Carolina, How Will He Explain To Voters That He Supports Raising Taxes On Middle-Income Taxpayers And Small Businesses, And Hasn’t Voted With Manufacturing Interests?
OBAMA’S HIGH TAX PLATFORM WOULD HURT NORTH CAROLINA’S ECONOMY
Obama Has Proposed A Laundry List Of Tax Hikes, But North Carolina Taxpayers Already Have A Large Enough Tax Burden:
Obama Has Called For Higher Income Taxes, Social Security Taxes, Investment Taxes, And Corporate Taxes, As Well As “Massive New Domestic Spending.” “Obama’s transformation, if you go by his campaign so far, would mean higher income taxes, higher Social Security taxes, higher investment taxes, higher corporate taxes, massive new domestic spending, and a healthcare plan that perhaps could be the next step to a full-scale, single-payer system. Is that what most Americans want, someone who will fulfill a Democratic policy wish list?” (James Pethokoukis, “Barack Hussein Reagan? Ronald Wilson Obama?” U.S. News & World Report’s “Capital Commerce” Blog, http://www.usnews.com, 2/12/08)
North Carolina Taxpayers Had To Work Until April 17 Of This Year To Pay Off Their Total Federal, State And Local Tax Burden For 2008. “Tax Freedom Day is the day when Americans finally have earned enough money to pay off their total tax bill for the year. In 2008, North Carolina taxpayers had to work until April 17 to pay their total tax bill (ranked 27th highest nationally).” (The Tax Foundation Website, http://www.taxfoundation.org, Accessed 6/6/08)
Obama Supports Nearly Doubling The Capital Gains Tax Rate, Which Would Mean A Tax Hike For Many North Carolina Taxpayers:
Obama Plans To Raise The Tax To As High As 28 Percent. CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo: “Right now, as you know, the cap gains tax is at 15%. … He [Obama] has said, and he told me today, that he won’t go above 28%. So we are talking about the possibility of a doubling in the capital gains tax.” (CNBC’s “Closing Bell,” 3/27/08)
Obama Said Raising The Capital Gains Tax Wouldn’t “Distort … Economic Decision Making.” Obama: “I think that we can have a capital gains rate that is higher than 15 percent. If it–and if it, you know–when I talk to people like Warren Buffet or others and I ask them, you know, what’s–how much of a difference is it going to be if it’s 20 or 25 percent, they say, look, if it’s within that range then it’s not going to distort, I think, economic decision making.” (CNBC’s “Closing Bell,” 3/27/08)
Obama’s Capital Gains Tax Hike Would Hit The Middle Class. “In 2005, according to IRS data, 47% of all tax returns reporting capital gains were from households with incomes below $50,000, and 79% came from households with incomes below $100,000.” (Editorial, “Obama Gains,” The Wall Street Journal, 4/30/08)
In 2005, 681,647 North Carolinians Reported Capital Gains Income. (Internal Revenue Service Website, “Individual Income And Tax Data, By State And Size Of Adjusted Gross Income, Tax Year 2005,” http://www.irs.gov, Accessed 4/23/08)
281,361 North Carolinians With Adjusted Gross Incomes Of Less Than $50,000 Reported Capital Gains. (Internal Revenue Service Website, “Individual Income And Tax Data, By State And Size Of Adjusted Gross Income, Tax Year 2005,” http://www.irs.gov, Accessed 4/23/08)
In 2005, The Average Capital Gains And Dividend Income Reported Per Tax Return In North Carolina Was $3,967. On Average, It Accounted For 8.27 Percent Of Adjusted Gross Income. (”Dividends And Capital Gains Income Compared To Other Income, 2005,” The Tax Foundation, taxfoundation.org, 7/16/07)
Obama’s Plan To Raise Taxes During An Economic Downturn Would Only Further Weaken Our Economy:
CNBC’s Maria Bartiromo Asked Obama: “Why Raise Taxes At All In An Economic Slowdown? Isn’t That Going To Put A Further Strain On People?” (CNBC’s “Closing Bell,” 3/27/08)
U.S. News & World Report’s Michael Barone Said Obama’s Fiscal Policy Is Akin To Herbert Hoover’s - Raising Taxes And Backing Protectionist Trade Policies During An Economic Slowdown. “On fiscal policy, both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton want higher taxes, at least on high earners. They want to let at least some of the Bush tax cuts expire in 2010, as scheduled. On trade, they oppose new free-trade agreements and want to renegotiate NAFTA with Canada and Mexico. As it happens, another president embraced such policies in a time of economic slowdown and financial market turbulence: Herbert Hoover raised taxes on high earners sharply and, ignoring a letter signed by 1,000 economists, signed the Smoot-Hawley tariff in 1930. The resul ts were not pretty. Until now, his example has not commended itself to Democrats. One wonders whether voters will agree that tax increases will stimulate the economy.” (Michael Barone, Op-Ed, “Uncle Sam Pays? Sure, Whatever,” U.S. News & World Report, 4/21/08)
OBAMA IS WRONG FOR NORTH CAROLINA’S SMALL BUSINESSES
Small Businesses Are Vital To North Carolina’s Economy:
“North Carolina Had An Estimated Total Of 766,500 Small Businesses.” (Small Business Administration Office Of Advocacy, “2007 Small Business Profile: North Carolina,” http://www.sba.gov, Accessed 4/23/08)
Over 98 Percent Of North Carolina’s Employer Firms Are Small Businesses. “Employer firms totaled 192,800 in 2006, up 3.3 percent from the previous year. Of this total, an estimated 98.1 percent, or 189,100 were small.” (Small Business Administration Office Of Advocacy, “2007 Small Business Profile: North Carolina,” http://www.sba.gov, Accessed 4/23/08)
Obama’s Payroll Tax Hike Would Hurt North Carolina’s Small Businesses:
Obama Supports Lifting The Earnings Cap On Payroll Taxes. Obama: “I think that lifting the cap is probably going to be the best option.” (Sen. Barack Obama, Democrat Presidential Candidates Debate, Hanover, NH, 9/26/07)
Eliminating The Payroll Earnings Cap Would Burden Small Business Owners Who Create Two Of Every Three New Jobs. “Lost in Obama’s calculations is that many of the people who would be affected by eliminating the earnings cap are small-business owners who employ more than half the nonfarm private-sector work force and create two of every three new jobs in this country.” (Editorial, “Caps Off For Obama,” Investor’s Business Daily, 9/25/07)
Michael Tanner Of The Cato Institute: “Small Businesses Would Be Particularly Hard Hit. In Fact, About One-Third Of The Workers Affected By Raising The Cap Would Be Small Business Owners.” (Michael Tanner, “Keep The Cap,” The Cato Institute, http://www.cato.org, 6/8/05)
North Carolina’s Self-Employed Would Be Especially Hard Hit By Obama’s Payroll Tax Hike. “The self-employed would be subject to a double whammy, since they pay both the employee and employer portion of the payroll tax.” (Editorial, “Caps Off For Obama,” Investor’s Business Daily, 9/25/07)
Obama’s Income Tax Hike Would Hurt North Carolina’s Small Businesses:
Obama Would Roll Back The Tax Cuts On Americans Earning Over $250,000. Obama: “[I] would roll back the Bush tax cuts for those making over $250,000.” (Sen. Barack Obama, CNN Democrat Presidential Candidate Debate, Manchester, NH, 6/3/07)
At Least 55 Percent Of Small Businesses File Their Taxes As Individuals. “Small businesses and individual entrepreneurs are the driving force of rapid innovation and economic growth in this country. At least 55% of them file their taxes as individuals.” (Editorial, “Caps Off For Obama,” Investor’s Business Daily, 9/25/07)
The Joint Economic Committee Found “A Strong Link” Between Marginal Tax Rates And Small Business Hiring And Investment Behavior. “Recent research finds a strong link between marginal tax rates and small business hiring and investment behavior.” (Joint Economic Committee, “Economic Benefits Of Personal Income Tax Rate Reductions,” http://www.house.gov, 4/01)
Obama’s Health Care Plan Includes A Mandate That Amounts To A Tax On Employers, Which Would Depress Worker Wages And Force Employers To Eliminate Jobs:
Obama’s Health Care Plan Calls On Employers That Don’t Provide Insurance To Forfeit A Percentage Of Their Payroll. Obama For America: “Employers that do not offer meaningful coverage or make a meaningful contribution to the cost of quality health coverage for their employees will be required to contribute a percentage of payroll toward the costs of the national plan.” (Obama For America Website, http://www.barackobama.com, Accessed 1/8/08)
“Mandates That Require Employers To Provide Health Benefits Or Pay A Percentage Of Their Payrolls As A Tax — A Proposal Backed By Sens. Hillary Clinton And Barrack Obama — Would Result In Lower Wages For Some Employees.” (Guy Boulton, “Better Benefits Or Higher Wages?” The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 5/5/08)
Harvard Economist Amitabh Chandra Said The Employer Mandate Could “Force Employers To Eliminate Jobs, Raise Prices Or Move Jobs To Foreign Countries.” “‘The populist view is this will only come out of profits,’ said [Amitabh] Chandra, the Harvard economist. But, ultimately, the money will come out of wages. ‘And, worse, for some people, it can’t come out of wages,’ he said. Some low-wage jobs simply can’t support the cost of health insurance, now estimated at more than $12,000 a year for family coverage. For this reason, Chandra said, a mandate would force employers to eliminate jobs, raise prices or move jobs to foreign countries.” (Guy Boulton, “Better Benefits Or Higher Wages?” The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 5/5/08)
Small Businesses Would Be Hardest Hit. “The biggest impact would be on small businesses, which are less likely to offer health benefits, and industries that employ more low-wage workers.” (Guy Boulton, “Better Benefits Or Higher Wages?” The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, 5/5/08)
OBAMA IS AT ODDS WITH MANUFACTURING INTERESTS
Obama Joined The Senate Manufacturing Caucus, But Rarely Votes With Manufacturing Interests:
Obama Joined The Manufacturing Caucus In The Senate. “Senators … announced formation of a Senate Manufacturing Caucus to advance and study the issues and interests of manufacturers. … [F]ounding members of the Caucus were the following Senators: … Barack Obama (D-IL)…” (National Association Of Manufacturers, “Senate Announces Manufacturing Caucus,” “ShopFloor” Blog, http://www.blog.nam.org, 6/15/05)
As Of June 8, 2008, Obama Has Received A 0 Percent Rating From The National Association Of Manufacturers For His Voting Record In The 110th Congress. (National Association Of Manufacturers Website, http://www.bipac.net, Accessed 6/8/08)
Obama Received A 16 Percent Rating From The National Association Of Manufacturers For His Voting Record In The 109th Congress. (National Association Of Manufacturers Website, http://www.bipac.net, Accessed 1/10/08)
NOTE: In 2006, Manufacturing Contributed Over $74 Billion To North Carolina’s Economy (GDP). (U.S. Bureau Of Economic Analysis, http://www.bea.gov, Accessed 6/6/08)
In North Carolina, Over 571,000 Workers Were Employed In Manufacturing In 2004. (Small Business Administration Office Of Advocacy, “2007 Small Business Profile: North Carolina,” http://www.sba.gov, Accessed 4/23/08)
He’s a horrible candidate, and no one wants to face the reality this man can’t do the job.
So, you know, they get what they asked for, in the end, same as with Bush, a broken economy, two wars that cannot be gamed to a satisfactory end, decreased American strategic position world wide, and a broken military command.
Good on ya!
