Cult-Aide Anyone?

I wondered how long it would take. You know, for the moment to come in which the Obama myths started to be doled out as if they were facts. And today my secret question was answered. It doesn’t get much worse than this.

Hopefully you had dinner some time ago and there is little chance that it won’t stay down. But I am warning you in advance. Listen to this bullshit and tell me if it hurts.

The wife U.S. Republican John McCain callously left behind

While Obama will surely press his credentials as the embodiment of the American dream – a handsome, charismatic young black man who was raised on food stamps by a single mother and who represents his country’s future – McCain will present himself as a selfless, principled war hero whose campaign represents not so much a battle for the presidency of the United States, but a crusade to rescue the nation’s tarnished reputation.

(Emphasis my own)

We have all heard this myth. But upon examination it just doesn’t add up. Where is it that Obama was raised on food stamps? In Hawaii? Don’t think so. He was enrolled in a high scale upper class private school. Was it in Indonesia? Nope, it wouldn’t have been there either. They never even heard of food stamps. Kansas? Nope not there either. In fact, Obama never lived there. Not even a day. Not. a. single. day.

So this food stamp myth is precisely that. It is a lie made up by Obama to make him seem as if he is one of us and not the elitist pampered snob that he really is. How many days do you think he spent wondering how he would put food on the table? I am fairly certain that the answer to that question is NONE. Unless of course he decided to spend his money on drugs rather than food. But that would have been a conscious decision, not something that happened because of the hand life had dealt him.

So the author of this article starts with a lie to make Obama seem to be someone he isn’t. Then she uses that lie as a set up for a hit piece on McCain, someone that spent 5 years being tortured and abused by the Vietnamese. A hardship that has been carefully and fully documented for decades. Not some made up piece of illusion spinned by the Obama WORMs.

The author, Sharon Churcher, wastes no time at all getting to the meat of her contention. She believes that McCain is a horrible man that dumped his wife to take up with someone younger. And she claims that McCain did this solely for Cindy’s money.

Some of McCain’s acquaintances are less forgiving, however. They portray the politician as a self-centred womaniser who effectively abandoned his crippled wife to ‘play the field’. They accuse him of finally settling on Cindy, a former rodeo beauty queen, for financial reasons.

McCain was then earning little more than £25,000 a year as a naval officer, while his new father-in-law, Jim Hensley, was a multi-millionaire who had impeccable political connections.

Never mind that the former Mrs. McCain, Carol, doesn’t believe that John left her for any intention that was not honorable or natural. Churcher ignores the truth and holds onto a lie. A lie as false as the lie about Obama she started her article with.

Carol insists she remains on good terms with her ex-husband, who agreed as part of their divorce settlement to pay her medical costs for life. ‘I have no bitterness,’ she says. ‘My accident is well recorded. I had 23 operations, I am five inches shorter than I used to be and I was in hospital for six months. It was just awful, but it wasn’t the reason for my divorce.

‘My marriage ended because John McCain didn’t want to be 40, he wanted to be 25. You know that happens…it just does.’

I mean, think about it. If you were captured and tortured and abused for 5 years, do you think it might have changed your views on a lot of things? Don’t you think that under the circumstances you might want to try new and different things? And if his ex-wife isn’t bitter do you think that it is fair to ask the rest of us to become bitter toward someone when the person closest to him at the time doesn’t see him that way?

Clearly Churcher is reaching here. She is so filled up with the Cult-Aide that playing loose and hard with the facts doesn’t mean a thing to her. The Obamedia has been getting away with telling lies and twisting the truth for so long now that many journalists don’t even feel the need to pretend to follow what used to be the rules of journalism any longer.

I expect that this type of yellow journalism will become the new standard. In fact, it is already starting.

Brilliant at Breakfast has already weighed in. And no, they don’t worry about using facts to back up their claims. Only the horrible rumors we have all heard.

Yes, my feminist friends, you’re planning to vote for a guy who dumped his wife because she had the temerity to be disfigured in an automobile accident and gained weight. You know, when you look at Cindy McCain these days, she doesn’t look happy, does she? Maybe it’s the 4 tons of Botox she has injected into her face in a vain attempt to still be the 25-year-old her husband fell for in the first place. Or maybe it’s that a man who dumped a wife because she didn’t look the same anymore, and who called the woman for whom he dumped her a “cunt” and a “trollop” in public, probably berates her in private because SHE didn’t stay 25 forever either.

I mean seriously, have you such a load of crap from anywhere? Except maybe The Drudge Report. Because that is exactly the type of nonsense and the style that these folks are going to emulate.

This attempt by Churcher is clearly designed to make the alternative to Obama, McCain, seem as if he is a woman hating, immoral creep. McCain may be many things but he isn’t any of these things. What we are witnessing is a Cultist response to those of us that refuse to follow the party line and back their illegitimate candidate. They will do and say anything they can over the next few months to tear McCain down and make him appear to be a monster. Sort of what Samantha Powers tried to do to Hillary.

And speaking for myself, every single time that the Cultists use lies and distortions to create a false image of who McCain is the closer I will move toward him. Every. Single. Time.

You are right. PTSD can have a lot of negative effects. It’s too bad McCain was never treated for his clear symptoms - if he was perhaps he wouldn’t be the crazy loon he is today.

The thought of that man leading this country makes me cringe with fear.

Um…

Thinking there are 57 states won’t get us into another war with another 5,000 dead because our President doesn’t understand the region we are currently stuck in.

A senior foreign policy adviser to leading Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama has told The Nation that if elected Obama will not “rule out” using private security companies like Blackwater Worldwide in Iraq. The adviser also said that Obama does not plan to sign on to legislation that seeks to ban the use of these forces in US war zones by January 2009, when a new President will be sworn in. Obama’s campaign says that instead he will focus on bringing accountability to these forces while increasing funding for the State Department’s Bureau of Diplomatic Security, the agency that employs Blackwater and other private security contractors. (Hillary Clinton’s staff did not respond to repeated requests for an interview or a statement on this issue.)

Obama’s broader Iraq withdrawal plan provides for some US troops to remain in Iraq–how many his advisers won’t say. But it’s clear that Obama’s “follow-on force” will include a robust security force to protect US personnel in Iraq, US trainers (who would also require security) for Iraqi forces and military units to “strike at Al Qaeda”–all very broad swaths of the occupation.

Comment by Matt | 2008-06-09 08:19:12

Yup, I’m well aware of Obama’s stance on Blackwater and on leaving some troops in Iraq. Neither position is perfect, but they are both worlds better than John McCain’s positions on these issues.

HARP is right about returning Vietnam Veterans; and the same thing is happening now with returning Iraq/Afghanistan veterans. Marriages are failing at new highs in the military. It happens. When people are separated for long periods; when one spouse is serving in a combat zone with people of the opposite sex; when one endures the trauma and the emotional upheaval of combat itself, people change.

After suffering unimaginable torture, suffering and deprivation for 5 years, never knowing whether you’d live or die, people have a driven need for things even they cannot consciously explain; they behave in ways that may seem inexplicable to those who haven’t experienced the same things. I doesn’t have to be PTSD, although I would certainly say that John McCain likely suffered from PTSD after 5 years as a POW. You cannot imagine what that is like.

A very close family friend died after 7 years in the Hanoi Hilton–he tried to escape, was captured and tortured to death. Whenever I visit DC, I visit the Wall to touch his name and remember him.

I’d say if John McCain’s children love him–and obviously they do, since they are following in his footsteps in military service; and his former wife has forgiven him, what else is there to say? People aren’t one-dimensional, and relationships aren’t one-dimensional either. No one should project their own values onto someone else’s marriage. Ask Hillary Clinton. She has been vilified for keeping her marriage together.

The LIE ABOUT OBAMA ON FOOD STAMPS really pisses me off, too. The man is an out of touch elitist. He wouldn’t have the first clue about food stamps. What a joke.

POOR OBAMA. He can’t help it! He was born with a silver lying tongue in his mouth.

[Oh, Ann, you wonderful Texas broad, we do miss you!]

To say it politely, you are deluded. The majority of blackwater security forces are still Americans, the main difference will be, that instead of paying a soldier around $2000 a month, we will be paying mercenaries. Blackwater, which has received over $1 billion in federal contracts since 2001, is charging the federal government over $1,200 per day for each “protective security specialist” employed by the company.

Can you add? Can you figure what it would cost us to have an army of $1,200 per day mercenaries in Iraq?!?

Fuck you’re an idiot. Obama out and out lies to you and it’s all Okie Dokey? And you think Blackwater is a fine upstanding company? And leaving behind a skeleton force in Iraq where they’ll beforced to hunker down on FOBs and be sitting ducks is smart Foreign policy? God just die will you, OD on Redbull and cheetoes and die. As long as we have foreign troops on Iraqi soil there will be violence and I’m soooo fucking glad you find PTSD a joking matter, as a person dealing directly a family member suffering from Iraq induced PTSD all I have to say is FUCK OFF!

Comment by rwc | 2008-06-09 11:03:46

You know its sickening, before Obama blessed Blackwater with his approval, they were detested by the so-called “progressive” blogs.

Now its cool to have Blackwater around because Obama said so.

Simply amazing, his followers are so gullible they’ll believe anything Bozo says.

You are so dead on! The problem in Iraq has always been the Blackwaters! Remember Abu Ghraib? Not even the US armed forces know who is who in Iraq. Not to mention that Blackwater conventiently lost $8 billion. We need to get rid of the mercenaries and the death squads first.

Don’t blame the troops!

Obama’s policy is just bad idea.

*******
And many people with PTSD were able to suffer silently for years — coping mechanisms were developed , like “womanizing” –while the toll taken was inevitably on the families. I am not condoning it; rather, recognizing that it is merely a condition of war. My own spouse’s grandfather was one who couldn’t cope with returning to his family, and lived happily with another after WWII. I strongly feel that we should not judge anyone who has seen combat. They have seen “war” and we have not.

I was appalled at what was done to John Kerry , and do not like this being done to McCain.

I am so sorry to hear about your family member Strawberry!

I refuse to defend McCain. I tend to believe most of the things said about him are true. He is certainly not my candidate. I resent that these are my choices. I could have happily voted for Biden, Edwards, Dodd, or Kucinich. And of course for Hillary. Even, slightly nauseous, for Richardson.
Obamabots don’t get it. Vote is not FOR McCain. It’s to stop Obama who has run the dirtiest smear campaign against Dems ever. Who will be very similar to McCain, maybe even to the right of him. McCain voted against the Cheney Energy bill, Obama for it. He’s dangerous because he pretends to be something he’s not and has so many people fooled. He’s a Trojan Horse candidate.
And it’s also a vote to reform and stop the DNC. If you Obamabots are so concerned about McCain and Feminism(!!?)LOL, why didn’t you think of that before and vote for someone who could defeat him? Why? Because you don’t care about anything except electing The Chosen One.

I’m a good person who tries to look at thing positively. Publicly, the first Mrs. McCain may have had to say these things. She needs medical assistance and they have a child. His political affiliation and wife are probably paying the bills. Personally do you really think that she thinks he is a great and noble man for cheating and then leaving and then marrying a month after a divorce. Please. If you buy the fact that she is so selfless and wouldn’t want to encumber him with her problems and understandingly let him go and holds no resentment then I say that she is up for sainthood.

McCain himself has admitted what he did to his first wife was terrible. And his first wife says it was because he wanted to be 25, not exactly a great excuse. Not to mention he pursued Cindy while he was married. There is no way to make this nice. However, I still support Bill Clinton because I do think we can except politicians to be saint or we won’t find anyone we can get behind.
The fact that McCain is still in his second marriage and has raised several children with her makes that story old news unless more stuff like what the NYTimes came out with surfaces. (Or McCain uses the C word to Cindy again.)
If womanizing bothers people so much there is an easy solution - you got it, elect a woman.

I am trying not to be anti obama. you guys who believe in his message makes it hard for the rest of us to come on board. Your candidate regardless of this story is not the change of pace politician he claims to be. Thats my biggest beef. I am also going to pronounce that his campaigns in his career have shown him to be sneaky dishonest and relentless as in he would do anything to win. Hillary Clinton, not even once disrespected Mr Obama. on the flip side you had memebers of his campaign calling her names and misrespresenting her message and their history in the white house. Its just hard to swallow. you get that? I really do believe Obama will have issues getting 40 percent of the people who supported hillary to come to him. You guys should take this seriously and not celebrate a primary win because at the end of the day, a primamry win is not a significant win in the grand scheme of things

Comment by Matt | 2008-06-09 08:01:30

If your gonna blame Obama for anything his surrogates said during they campaign that was anti-Hillary, then you’ve gotta do the same for Hillary (if you have any interest of being fair.)

Hillary’s Iowa co-chair sent out e-mails smearing Obama as a Muslim terrorist. A high up advisor openly questioned whether Obama was a drug dealer. A female supporter said he wouldn’t be where he was if not for his race, insinuating that he is merely an affirmative action candidate. A union head introducing her to speak called his supporters prissy elites right in front of her, ignoring his endorsements from unions like Teamsters, SEIU, and countless others.

No candidate can be held responsible for everything said by surrogates at all times. It’s crazy. And I have yet to seen one case where Obama himself attacked Hillary unfairly.

(ps - the bump Obama has been getting in the polls lately makes it clear that the crazy freepers here on this site are either Republican shills, or in the extreme minority of Hillary supporters. Sorry to burst your bubble, but 70% of Hillary supporters are now voting for Obama).

Oh, and on food stamps. I have no proof that Obama was on food stamps, just as you have no proof that he was not - the records of such stamps are only kept for 7 years, meaning they were destroyed 30 years ago. However, the fact that he was in private school on scholarship has been fully documented and verified by every media outlet there is. A simple google search would tell you that.

Comment by HARP | 2008-06-09 08:07:50

There are cross-overs in every election, and this one will be no different. Don’t overestimate yourselves. There aren’t that many of you, and you’re not going to make a difference. His atypical grandmother was a vice president at Bank of Hawaii and her area was real estate investment. So he wasn’t living under impoverished circumstances. The banking theme is much stronger in Obama’s life than any goat herding.

I went back and read his famous 2004 convention speech, and it is a masterpiece of propaganda. I realized that he blurs his grandparents’ with his and his parents’ histories, to claim a nativism that doesn’t exist. And as the speech goes on to roll out his hope-is-mandatory message, he never speaks of white America again. He makes references to slavery and immigrants, but not those typical white people. That guy Spengler is on to something. Obama sees middle America with the detachment of an anthropologist. No wonder people often say they can’t quite put their finger on it, but something doesn’t seem right. They don’t trust him.

This kid of research. ?

[Barack Obama] was born in 1961 but his mother could not get food stamps then because a) she was married and b) they were not available then.

Then [Barack Senior] moved to a foreign country. I don’t think that we were sending food stamps to foreign nations.

When she moved back in 1965, food stamps were not available in Hawaii in 1965.

In 1967, she married the second time and moved to Jakarta. Nope, no food stamps then.

By the time she moved back once again, he was living with his grandparents who had jobs and food stamps were not being handed out like Halloween candy in those years.

Comment by bert | 2008-06-09 08:45:32

As best I can tell with 15 minutes of research (have to go to work) it was not A FULL scholarship. His grandmother was vice president of a major bank during this time as well.

As for food stamps, his mother was on them for a while but NOT while Obama was living with his mother. He was living with has grandparents who were not on food stamps, despote Obama LYING about it.

http://sweetness-light.com/archive/when-was-obamas-mom-on-food-stamps

“S&L reader JacksonianDemocrat has pointed out in the comments below that during an interview with Joe Klein that appeared in the October 15, 2006 edition of Time Magazine Obama claimed:

I was going to a fancy prep school, and my mother was on food stamps while she was getting her Ph.D.

As JacksonianDemocrat notes, this would be circa 1974-1977, which when the young Barack was attending one of Hawaii’s most elite private schools and in fact living full time with his grandparents.

And, as we have previously noted, his (racist) grandmother was the vice-president of the Bank Of Hawaii.

So, even if this is true, it greatly undercuts Mr. Obama’s claim to know firsthand what it is like to struggle.

For Barack was not living with his mother at the time she was on food stamps, but with his upper middle class, embarrassingly white and well-off grandparents.”

Get your facts staright. Obama is a fraud.

Comment by destardi | 2008-06-09 09:02:07

Could you make it any more obvious that the people that run this site are simply freepers and redstaters trying to move Democrats to their mythically “moderate” candidate?

How does the kool-aid taste? You know, the stuff that lets you believe that John McCain has integrity just because his plane happened to be shot down.

Comment by HARP | 2008-06-09 07:58:38

Sam, make a mental note . . . oh, I see you’re out of paper!

Comment by Blk4hillary | 2008-06-09 07:58:41

Sam, honestly, are you going to ignore the many examples of Obama’s lies and the history that goes against his core argument of being a different kind of politician.. I am a partisan democrat and i am really struggling with supporting Obama. Also Obama has said what he needed to win if McCain did it he would be just like Obama. What makes is worse for me is Obama runs around like he is above it all when his surrogates and campaigns are dirty and filled with tricks. My eyes are opened and i am disappointed. and also does anyone care that his cousin who he stumped for in Kenya for president is down there killing people? Kenya was one of the most progressive african nations, now his cousin is trying to impliment sharia law? Obama is not without fault. i have no idea how u guys place so much faith in a man

Comment by Joe Bob | 2008-06-09 08:25:04

Let’s see, one man has Hilary’s endorsement and an almost identical platform and voting record the other guy has joked about how ugly Clinton’s daughter was, has an exactly opposite voting record and does not have hilary’s endorsement…Yes, we’re the odd ones for wondering why a “Hilary supporter” would be so pro McCain…

Comment by David Axisrutt | 2008-06-09 08:28:12

No. You’re the odd ones because you troll at other people’s sites for a Kool-Aid candidate, shit-for-brains.

Be gone, mutha. You’re being reported.

How about the fact that Obama is a racist criminal. Is that a good enough reason to vote against him?

Those you see following the Obamessiah are not Democrats, though the species may try to look similar. They are in fact nothing but JACKASSES!

His ‘health care plan’ is useless. In fact it’s a hoax that panders to the insurers. Fortunately, I have learned to copy a whole bunch of my answers on subjects you repetitive Obamazoids continue to raise. Truly, you need to get back to the Mother Ship and get better talking points. So here is why Barky Obama’s plan is useless:

He says that he isn’t going to “interfere with states” as if the states are going to do the magic changey thing. Whomever put that plan together is woefully unknowledgeable of how States operate. In MANY states, the state legislators are in the back pocket of health care insurers. Barack Obama clearly also does not know that some states forbid by law that their residents cross state lines to get health insurance cheaper. This means they not only cannot purchase the “congressional health care plan” unless the states are foced to comply, but they cannot shop beyond the state. This means that health care insurers in these states will happily gobble up any ’supplementary incentives” and STILL continue to raise rates– and the state ‘leaders’ won’t do a thing about it. My state passed a “supplement bill” to “help out” people and the result was a reduction in monthly rates of $5. You can expect the same crap under Barky’s “plan”.

Secondly, people who “can’t be forced” to be insured have to be paid for by the rest of us, thus driving up premiums rather than reducing them. I am also convinced that Obama hasn’t got Clue One about what a single pay health care policy costs, because he is so used to getting government freebee insurance of the best kind.

Proudly telling everybody that you will “reduce the yearly cost of health insurance by $2500″ shows a REAL lack of understanding of exactly how much a single pay health insurance policy costs. In my state, you would pay $2k Per Month for an family HMO policy that will surely let you die if you sign on and get sick. And that’s a fact. I can assure you that a family that can’t afford $24,000 a year can’t afford $21,500 a year. A single pay for a single person for that same policy is roughly $900 per month. Giving “incentives” to states is tantamount to giving the health insurers another freebee, while they still raise the rates double digits to make up for the people barack Obama says don’t have to get insurance. It is also clear that none of his silly “plan” will do squat to reduce costs of any kind. Barky Obama has just “introduced” a free market plan that already exists. The nearly 50 million uninsured will be right where they are right now with his “plan”.

This is not universal health care. In fact, John Mccain will give me a $5k write off. Hell, I’m better of with his plan.

Is next, my copied answer on the “roe v wade scare,” which doesn’t scare me one bit.

What part of “obama used race to divide for votes” and Hillary supporters being labeled as racists do you NOT UNDERSTAND?

To assume people who don’t think like you are not Democrats, will be your downfall in November.

Remember sammy,

2004 - “you’re not a republican unless you agree with me”

2008 - “you’re not a democrat unless you agree with me”

YOU ARE STUPID.
