Obama Moves DNC Headquarters to Chicago

I heard the news, and was struck by the audacity of Obama moving the DNC headquarters and employees to the epicenter of machine and mob politics. Ben Smith of Politico.com wrote that the abrupt move is “a major shakeup” and, in an understated phrase, a “departure from tradition.”
I knew at once that Barack Obama was seizing the DNC by the hair, and dragging it into his lair where he can seize control of the Democratic party’s monies, its employees, and any access to its power brokers. The party is no longer, in any way, the party of the Democratic voter. It is now Barack Obama’s party, to do with as he wishes.
The Obama-controlled Chicago machine will hold sway over all Superdelegates running for reelection this year — including their access to money, support, and endorsements.
Those freshman House members will be kneeling and kissing Obama’s ring in no time and, for their sakes, they’d better not have supported Hillary.
Chicago is the home of Obama’s longtime extremist mentors, associates, advisers and benefactors — both before and immediately after his law school years — including Reverends Jeremiah Wright, Otis Moss and James Meeks; Minister Louis Farrakhan; Father Michael Pfleger; Weather Underground terrorists William Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn; marketing guru David Axelrod who created the mix-and-match Obama and Deval Patrick personae; the convicted Antoin “Tony” Rezko who only two years ago enabled a “sweetheart deal” that allowed Barack and Michelle Obama to buy a historic mansion they could ill afford; the Illinois state senator power broker Emil Jones who “[f]or almost a year … used his position as leader of the state senate to block anticorruption legislation passed unanimously by the state’s lower house.”
Smith writes:
The move reflects Obama’s desire to maintain an unusually streamlined campaign, as well as his swift and complete takeover of a Democratic Party that isn’t always known for its unity.
To which Riverdaughter replies, about this “complete and utter takeover of the DNC by the Obama campaign”:
I’m guessing that “streamlined” means “pared to the bone for cost reasons”. “Consolidate” means “have Obama hire the staff because the DNC can’t pay them”. Is it that Obama has highjacked the DNC or is it that the DNC is forced to go this route because the fundraising machine has dried up over the outrageous treatment of Hillary Clinton? And if it is the latter, how long will it take before it cries “Uncle” and ceases to exist as a party apparatus at all?
What it means most of all is that if Obama loses in November — as we predict because the GOP has every intention to expose Mr. Obama’s shady dealings and longtime extremist associates including, reports McClatchy, questioning “Obama’s judgment and character” in choosing allies like Tony Rezko and Bill Ayers — the Democratic party will be left in a shambles, cut off from its roots and Congressional allies in Washington, D.C., bereft of leadership, broke and in staggering debt.
Hot Air blog predicts the Republicans will have great fun with the Chicago location since the just-completed “Rezko trial [showed] massive corruption in state politics” — and involves many of Obama’s longtime allies.
Howard Dean may think it’s great that Democrats are nervous about Obama’s prospects.
But, if I were a yellow dog Democrat, I’d be ill right about now.
Thankfully, I’ve never been a one-party person. Never seen the sense in it. And I’m keeping my options open.
Would that the DNC were more cautious and protective of its future, rather than betting the farm on an inexperienced and unqualified candidate with shady and extremist characters for close allies.

While they divert Americans with attacks against McCain and the Republicans, or keep us wound up with actions like this DNC, they are stealing the election. Election fraud. Volunteer and get involved with the process for election day. Let’s make it as hard as possible for them to cheat.

If we had any hopes of a floor fight and the SDs changing their minds at the convention, it is completely gone now. He and Dean have a stranglehold on them. I also don’t think Obama is the ringmaster on this, because I just can’t accept he is smart enough even in that devious way. One thing is sure, if we want our party back, we have to defeat these bastards and defeat them a huge margin. New politics, my foot.

I’ve been a registered dem for decades and now am Unaffiliated.
To remain a dem after May 31st was not an option. This was not a protest move on my part per se, it was a reaction to their betrayal of my core long held beliefs.
They abandoned me, so I filed for divorce.
I think it’s time to seriously consider starting a new party in this country. I’m truly all for starting the “Centrist Party” and seeing if we can pull disenfranchised Dems and Repubs, Indies, alike. A no bs platform, focused on real issues, no planks on the issues that divide us, like abortion or gay rights - those issues will resolve themselves with the next generation. We’re really losing our grip on democracy here.
I went out to Obama’s smear site last night to see what he had going there. Is it just me, or is anyone else offended that he has taken the symbol of the eagle and applied his logo to it? What’s next - the Obama logo on our currency?

Organizations don’t just happen overnight. It’s unrealistic not to expect a certain amount of chaos and disorder.
Unrealistic expectations of such will lead to an attitude of defeat. We are walking a solitary path to Nov. The focus must be on our one vote, not on wondering if other people are doing the same.
The DNP leadership is counting on us to become defeated in the midst of chaos. Don’t fold! Ultimately, all a citizen has is their one vote so use it.
In the meantime, we need to concentrate on LONG TERM organizing.
As far as Hillary is concerned, I keep the hope of that somehow she will prevail in a quiet place of contemplation so that I won’t get distracted by my main objective: NOT VOTING FOR OBAMA and giving my vote to McCain.
I hate that these are my choices but that’s the reality. But I despise what Obama, Dean, Pelosi and Brazile have done to my ex-Party even more.

I continue to ask and will continue to do so: what is the source of the money? I actually think this is a Obama/Rove/Cheney cabal. When you have no chance of winning an election in “08 as Rep were faced with, what exactly would you do? You would take the most corrupted and corruptible of all Democrats (Obama, Pelosi, Dean) and you would give them nominal power wouldn’t you? You’d give them what they want while consolidating every power grab that has gone on for 8 years. Think of all of the people who could not be bought and you probably have your answer. Now, to me, the odd thing is that they bothered to tell Hillary to get out of the race while it was still going on. If you had just gone along and stolen everything in a consistent fashion, we might not have noticed. But when you spent all of that time screaming about Hillary go away, then we bothered to get pissed and suspicious. It seems to me that this was a large mistake. But it seems to me that this is close to transparent and I do not think for a moment it is run by Obama and Axelrod.
I ask: where is the money coming from? Iraq is an open wound of a place where money can flow anywhere it wants and we won’t “notice.” But we can point to folks in Obama’s background that worked this part of the street.

It’s hard to believe that Dean is really okay with this takeover. I can’t see him as corporate shill. I think he’s caught up in something he can’t control any more. But he still has some choices.

We have some great politcal minds on our side. We all have one goal but we are approaching it in several different ways. This is our right - we don’t want to be lemmings like all the Obama followers. We need to come together in some way to assure Obama never sees the inside of the White House - or would it be the Sears Tower.
If Democrats liked the way Obama ran his campaign, if they like him taking over His party, they’re going to love an Obama presidency. And they can’t get rid of him in 2012 if they decide they don’t like working for him.

On the other hand, this may be the opportunity we needed to revisit the superdelegate situation. Perhaps we need to call and write our superdelegates about the danger of having Obama win the election. Perhaps they should reconsider who they are supporting. If we can get several of the sd’s to switch back to Hillary and let the world know about it, there is a possibility that the swing back could occur and then the presumptive leader would be gone. Despite the corruption, Daley, both of them, have managed to turn out a beautiful city, in terms of architecture.
My father worked on building the Chicago skyline, which has some very progressive, creative structures, the history of this country reflected in the buildings along the lakefront.
Every time I look at it, I remember him, and I am very proud.
Last time I went back, I saw the newer buildings, and I thought they did a very good job in terms of coordinating the various architectural periods, while still innovating, the layers complimenting one another.

Putting on my tinfoil hat for a moment…what a clever way to take over a country.
Remember the years of careful and detailed planning and the depth of penetration into our society that the 9/11 attackers manged to pull off?
A man learns “street organizing” specific to getting out the vote. He gets involved with many unsavory groups. His life is carefully scrubbed or rewritten. He is propelled through the political system.
He reaches the US Senate. He prepares carefully for the next step, even pre-paying super delegates almost $800,000.
He knows his likely opponent so he votes similarly so that the battle will be one of character not substance. He plagiarizes the opponents platforms. He appears to have little to no differences with his opponent. The only clue that something is off is that without a teleprompter, he cannot speak fluidly about his platform and fumbles on the topic. He diverts back to lofty ideas whenever possible. Discussing specific platforms might expose him. He stops participating in debates or taking open questions when it becomes too risky.
He has now infiltrated a major political Party. He builds an army of followers. He takes over the major Political party. He is branded beautifully. The media falls for it all and helps him suppress information. Advantage is taken of people unhappy with the current system, a country in financial trouble, vulnerable and/or receptive constituencies (AAs, young people, hard lefters), hatred towards an established political dynasty (Clintons), the thirst for a change. A primary is gamed expertly. Election fraud and voter suppression is rampant, yet our system is not prepared to combat yet alone address the flaws.
The major Party changes its rules in 2006 to make the delegate proportion more favorable. Then applies or changes the rules during the Primary to effect the intended outcome.

2008 the year they removed the concept of Democracy from Democratic, leave us just with the “ic”. Which is about right, it is icky.
