Obama Throws Muslims Under the Bus Too

It’s Headscarves-gate.

Barack Obama is going to great lengths to distance himself from his father and step-father’s Muslim backgrounds. He even joined a radical so-called Christian church and was a member for 20 years just to dispel the notion. But now that he is a big shot Presidential candidate he has taken this distancing stuff to the extreme. His message to supporters: No head scarves allowed in any photographs with The One. If you are Muslim and you support Barack Obama, you are going to have to look like regular folk or you won’t be included.

Muslims barred from picture at Obama event

Two Muslim women at Barack Obama’s rally in Detroit on Monday were barred from sitting behind the podium by campaign volunteers seeking to prevent the women’s headscarves from appearing in photographs or on television with the candidate.

The Obama of course immediately apologized when the women went public with their displeasure (and not before). But we are used to this. Obama does one thing. People react badly to what he does. Obama suddenly appears to change course and offers an apology. Well, his WORMs do.

“This is of course not the policy of the campaign. It is offensive and counter to Obama’s commitment to bring Americans together and simply not the kind of campaign we run,” said Obama spokesman Bill Burton. “We sincerely apologize for the behavior of these volunteers.”

It’s always the same response. Here is the short version:

We are so deeply sorry that you were offended by what you perceived to be a sleight to your character. Please know that what happened to you is completely contrary to Senator Obama’s message of hope and unity. Therefore he couldn’t possibly have meant to harm you in any way. Don’t start acting like those bitter people now. Senator Obama really loves you like he does all of his children. Really, he does.

The two women that this happened to were flabbergasted.

“I was coming to support him, and I felt like I was discriminated against by the very person who was supposed to be bringing this change, who I could really relate to,” said Hebba Aref, a 25-year-old lawyer who lives in the Detroit suburb of Bloomfield Hills. “The message that I thought was delivered to us was that they do not want him associated with Muslims or Muslim supporters.”

I can really feel for this lady. yep, lots of folks are bamboozled into believing Obama’s message only to find out that the reality of it is that he discriminates against a lot of folks. It happens all the time. Not to seem non empathetic but get used to it. They don’t call him Snobama for nothing.

In fact, this wasn’t an accident at all. It was a carefully calculated political ploy to present a non-threatening message to the voters. A shame that the actual message it sent was one of hate and exclusion.

That incident began when the volunteer asked Aref’s friend Ali Koussan and two other friends, Aref’s brother Sharif and another young lawyer, Brandon Edward Miller, whether they would like to sit behind the stage. The three young men said they would, but mentioned they were with friends.

The men said the volunteer, a twenty-something African-American woman in a green shirt, asked if their friends looked and were dressed like the young men, who were all light-skinned and wearing suits. Miller said yes, but mentioned that one of their friends was wearing a headscarf with her suit.

The volunteer “explained to me that because of the political climate and what’s going on in the world and what’s going on with Muslim Americans, it’s not good for [Aref] to be seen on TV or associated with Obama,” said Koussan, who is a law student at Wayne State University.

Both Koussan and Miller said they specifically recalled the volunteer citing the “political climate” in telling them they couldn’t sit behind Obama.

“I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me. Are you serious?’” Koussan recalled.

As SusanUnPC explained in her excellent piece, “Brit Hume Raises the Question of Barack Obama’s Muslim Background,” Obama is going to great lengths to distance himself from his own heritage. Why else would the campaign be hiding his real birth certificate? And just why would his supposed Anti-Smear Website go so far as to blatantly lie about his real Muslim background? How else do you explain this?

Muslinsmear

This incident might have everything to do with the “political climate” and all. But from where I sit, the climate is going to start heating up around Senator Obama. Very Soon!

Obama minders please be aware,

Several of us will be looking to appear behind Obama at open events. We are all across the country. We look respectable. But once the cameras are on we will don multi-colored afro wigs and hold up cloth signs saying “Obama 3:16″ Then we will chant “For God so loved the world that he gave us Obama, and whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” To make the message get through we will hand out cards with this message.

(We might have to think that over…the ObamaMessiahBots might see nothing wrong with that, but it would confirm the righteousness of their adulation.)

Comment by AnninCa | 2008-06-18 14:38:55

lol* Personally, after seeing the MI tape of his rallies, no way in heck would I ever attend his event. Way too scary!

Comment by Jack | 2008-06-18 14:57:43

Also funny is the Obama counter-propaganda planted in this story,

On the Republican side, a Hispanic New Hampshire Democrat, Roberto Fuentes, told Politico that he was recently asked, and declined, to contribute to the “diversity” of the crowd behind Sen. John McCain at a Nashua event.

ONly an Obamabot would believe McCain wouldn’t want a Hispanic face behind him. Both campaigns are about empty images. The Obama counter-prop guy didn’t have the nerve to lie and say he was a Republican, thus averting questions that the snub he received was due to something else than his skin.

Comment by Elizabeth | 2008-06-18 23:32:05

And why would it be scary to you AnninCa?? He can’t win for losing, right? You know darn well that had someone wearing a headscarf appeared behind Obama at a political rally, all hell would break - and the whole muslim thing would start up again. He is not a Muslim but with people like you, he will always be associated with whatever is ‘evil’ to the racist narrow-minded people of this country. don’t deny it…he scares you.

The new CNN article has follow-up info

[Hebba] Aref, a 25-year-old lawyer, said a member of her group was told by a volunteer that she could not invite Aref because of “a sensitive political climate.”

A lawyer!

Obama spokesman Bill Burton issued a statement saying such actions are “not the policy of the campaign.”

“It is offensive and counter to Obama’s commitment to bring Americans together and simply not the kind of campaign we run. We sincerely apologize for this behavior,” the statement read.

Aref said she replied by thanking Burton, but requested Obama apologize directly to her and Abdelfadeel, as well as invitations to sit behind him at a future campaign event. Obama spokeswoman Amy Brundage said the campaign has apologized.

Go Hebba Go!

“He needs to take the matter seriously and send a strong message against any kind of discrimination,” Aref said.

Hebba, you’re a lawyer. Sue! Sue! Surely this counts as a legitimate discrimination case, and with a public facility to boot!

Still, she said, it was difficult to hear a Obama’s message of unity among races.

“As he’s saying it, I’m thinking, ‘Well, wait a minute, I was obviously … profiled and discriminated against an hour ago.”‘

Hebba, you need to visit the following address,

Theodore Levin U.S. Courthouse
231 W. Lafayette Blvd.

http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080618/NEWS07/80618043

And even more from the local Detroit paper,

[Hebba]said she’d like more than an apologetic phone call from a campaign official. “I was kind of in shock that had happened,” said Aref, a Bloomfield Hills resident and graduate of the University of Michigan Law School. “I’ve lived here practically my whole life, and never been treated that way. It’s so ironic that it was at his rally, he obviously would not promote any discrimination at all.”

Michigan law school. She must be very smart!

Aref said she received a phone call and apology from an Obama campaign offiicial, but said that’s not enough.

“I do appreciate they’re taking the time to look into what happened,” Aref said. “I think it’s a huge deal. I was hoping for an apology from Sen. Obama himself. He needs to send a strong message this kind of discrimination won’t be tolerated.”

That sounds like she’s setting up a law suit. Sue! Sue!

Aref said one aide told her friends that because of a sensitive political environment, Obama should not be photographed with Muslims wearing head scarves.

Aref’s aunt, Dr. Eman Salem, a Bloomfield Hills anesthesiologist, said she was outraged when she learned of what had happened to her niece at the rally.

“This is an insult to all Muslims,” said Salem, 50, a Canadian citizen who said she’s worked in the U.S. for five years. “I wouldn’t take my hijab off for anyone. It doesn’t prevent Muslims from accomplishing anything. We take pride in our religion and we take pride in our citizenship.”

Smart family, with money too. Anesthesiologist? They know how to shut people up. Sue!

“This is of course not the policy of the campaign. It is offensive and counter to Obama’s commitment to bring Americans together and simply not the kind of campaign we run…”

Oh bull!

If that’s so, why have we never seen a scarf-covered head in the crowd behind Obama during this entire campaign? Why have we never seen a photo of Obama posing with a scarf-wearing muslim on the campaign trail? Why have we never seen a photo of a scarf-covered muslim even in a crowd around Obama?

Are we to think that no female muslims support Obama? NONE??? Really???

Isn’t this muslim sexism? Muslim men can pass but muslim women can’t - in the all-inclusive, unity campaign of Barack Obama.

Adviser denies Obama showed naivete on Jerusalem

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Democrat Barack Obama misused a “code word” in Middle East politics when he said Jerusalem should be Israel’s “undivided” capital but that does not mean he is naive on foreign policy, a top adviser said on Tuesday.

He has closed all doors to peace,” Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said after the June 4 speech.

Oh, my, that doesn’t sound good!

Daniel Kurtzer, who advises Obama on the Middle East, said Tuesday at the Israel Policy Forum that Obama’s comment stemmed from “a picture in his mind of Jerusalem before 1967 with barbed wires and minefields and demilitarized zones.”

“So he used a word to represent what he did not want to see again, and then realized afterwards that that word is a code word in the Middle East,” Kurtzer said.

Uh, whatever.

One member of the audience who said the remark — and its subsequent clarifications — did not speak well of Obama’s foreign policy knowledge.

The comment was so pro-Israeli even the Israelis denounced it!

Pagan Power, I think this story might deserve it’s own posting.

Being a skin cancer sufferer and desert offroader in my (copious, thanks to the Bush Recession) spare time, I own AND WEAR a Kaffiyeh.

It doesn’t look ANYTHING like a Rachel Ray scarf, thank you very much. It looks much more like required dress at a r**head hoe-down and RPG Swapmeet.

(I bought the MF’er, and 5 more like it, in The Emirates, and I’m KEEPIING them!)

And, since I have a real, “Air’s FREE!” schnozzola and an Iraqi Army/LAPD moustache, I have learned not to wear it in town. I was pulled over for a Meet and Greet by some donut munchers in Calaveras County, who (1) didn’t think camel jockeys came in my size, and (2) had a lot of trouble understanding my VERY thick “Southern accent,” which overcame me about the time they told me to do the “South Central LA Macarena,” against the hood of my Jeep.

Anyway, my point is, a Burka is pretty big to carry, even folded up, but a Kaffiyeh will go in the pocket of Levis and can be donned and tied in 4 seconds.

Just a suggestion, to those who’d brave a bad case of cooties to attend on Obama.

Get seated, put on your CATERPILLAR ball cap, then switch to your Camel Jockey Boralino when the cameras swing your way!

Did you come into this election in the middle? MSNBC was taking a poll for months and listed every candidate and every position they took and Obama wasn’t even close to Senator Clinton’s positions. (Actually, I don’t think he had done enough work in the Senate to know what he thought.)

As she laid out her proposals, Obama snatched them up. I know because I read every candidate’s health care proposals, every candidate’s Iraq war proposals, every candidate’s economic and energy proposals before the field dwindled to three and the word “ditto” started describing Obama’s “plans” late in the primaries. I suppose it is better to imitate the best but why settle for the copy if you can get the real thing cheaper?

His new NAFTA stance should help out nicely in Ohio, don’t you think?

The general campaign is on, independent voters up for grabs, and Barack Obama is toning down his populist rhetoric - at least when it comes to free trade.

In an interview with Fortune to be featured in the magazine’s upcoming issue, the presumptive Democratic nominee suggests he doesn’t want to unilaterally blow up NAFTA after all.

“Sometimes during campaigns the rhetoric gets overheated and amplified,” he conceded, after I reminded him that he had called NAFTA “devastating” and “a big mistake,” despite nonpartisan studies concluding that the trade zone has had a mild, positive effect on the U.S. economy.

Does that mean his rhetoric was overheated and amplified? “Politicians are always guilty of that, and I don’t exempt myself,” he answered.
In the up-coming Fortune magazine. The above is from CNN.com

Didn’t he fight for weeks to deny that story? And here he’s admitting to it? This should be front page news! Ask his brother http://web.israelinsider.com/Articles/Politics/12918.htm
Apparently the Obamas of Kenya have been reading those scurrilous emails to which Barack likes to refer, because they have no doubt — contrary to the claims of the Obama campaign, that the presidential candidate was raised a Moslem. They take that as a given.

As the Jerusalem Post reports, “Barack Obama’s half brother Malik said Thursday that if elected his brother will be a good president for the Jewish people, despite his Muslim background. In an interview with Army Radio he expressed a special salutation from the Obamas of Kenya.”

The Obama brothers’ father, a senior economist for the Kenyan government who studied at Harvard University, died in car crash in 1982. He left six sons and a daughter. All of his children - except Malik — live in Britain or the United States. Malik and Barack met in 1985 in the US.

“He was best man at my wedding and I was best man at his,” said Malik in a 2004 interview with an AP reporter. Their paternal grandfather, Onyango Hussein Obama, was one of the first Muslim converts in Nyangoma-Kogelo, Malik said

I know of four fund raisers and voter registration drives this weekend just in my town alone. I’m personally donating to BO, DNC ,DNConvention and MoveOn every week. I also gave your Priestess money to pay her bills. It won’t work if your only inspired by hate.

San Francisco Chronical, August 2004. Let’s see if Kerry is any where near the man that McCain is.

‘The TV spots became a center of controversy Thursday when McCain, in an interview with the Associated Press, harshly criticized the ad.

“It was the same kind of deal that was pulled on me,” McCain said, referring to attacks on his military record during the 2000 Republican primary race by supporters of Bush. At the time, Kerry and other senators who served in Vietnam came to McCain’s defense. Kerry and McCain also worked together in the 1990s on resolving the question of American soldiers missing in action in Vietnam, which led to normalized relations between the countries.

“I deplore this kind of politics,” McCain told the Associated Press. “I think the ad is dishonest and dishonorable. As it is, none of these individuals served on the boat (Kerry) commanded. Many of his crew have testified to his courage under fire. I think John Kerry served honorably in Vietnam. I think George Bush served honorably in the Texas Air National Guard during the Vietnam War.”

Have you told your Master that it won’t work if he only inspires hate? He really needs to hear your message because he seem inordinately proud to have Senator Clinton under his heel. And by the way, your message of “See what you made me do!” also falls on deaf ears but keep up your work for redemption with your contributions to Senator Clinton.

He doesn’t have Clinton under his heel.

You really need to step back, and apply some clear headed analysis, here.

Same with me regarding Huffpoo. But after the RFK spin that they all jumped on the bandwagon over, I just could not return. I put up with so many insults and hatred from those ‘folks’, but felt it was important to at least get another voice into their Obamamesiah echo chamber. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

What care I? McCain gets my vote, unless Hillary wants to do the Independent thing.

Comment by beebop | 2008-06-18 14:42:00

Right, he doesn’t lift his arms because he doesn’t want to, right? You people are thoroughly disgusting! McCain is no Kerry. If they push McCain, he’ll unleash those 527’s early. They are screwing with the wrong war hero.

Comment by Freedom Fighter | 2008-06-18 15:03:34

Look, McCain is the affirmative action naval officer. He only got his rank through preferrential treatment.

Comment by beebop | 2008-06-18 15:36:02

And YOU complained because we weren’t all sobbing for Russart? You are the height of the new low ….

Comment by WestPalm4Hillary | 2008-06-18 15:49:07

Methinks you need to learn what “affirmative action” is.

NEWS FLASH!

That’s how the Navy works!

If you think that hate, fear and loathing are going to work this time then you may be mistaken. That only works for the small minded and god knows that there are plenty of you here and there but good will be triumphant.

Comment by Fred C. Dobbs | 2008-06-18 16:04:46

>>> good will be triumphant

So FEW instances in all of Western Civilization illustrate Good prevailing over Evil…

Comment by MessyMarcy | 2008-06-18 17:23:22

True, but there are many instances of a tough old bird like McCain prevailing over a snot-nosed lazy little twit like Obama. Or, in deference to his wife, who knows him best, a pathetic little twit like Obama.

Comment by Fred C. Dobbs | 2008-06-18 18:03:12

Experience and Treachery will always prevail over Youth and Enthusiasm.

Hate, fear and loathing? I know they are outdated. That’s why Obama uses SEXISM, RACISM, AGEISM and HOMOPHOBIA under the guise of HOPE and CHANGE! YES HE CAN throw everyone under a bus. Oh yes, he can.

Comment by rjj | 2008-06-18 14:44:48

Oh no, not preferential treatment!

They wrecked his shoulders instead of …. what exactly?

We hate that.

Can’t have it.

Comment by destardi | 2008-06-18 14:47:02

BREAKING!

McCain isn’t OBAMA!

Therefore, he gets my vote even if he’s a closet Charles Manson drag queen!

Comment by Toni in NJ | 2008-06-18 15:09:09

That says a lot about you.

Comment by destardi | 2008-06-18 15:18:14

Yes, it says that I, along with 18 million other voters, think for ourselves.

WE are the reason that the Democratic party will not fall victim to nutbags as the Republican party did.

We won’t stand for a take over; it’s not my fault you’re not paying attention…

“fairy tale” is racist? answer that.

“LBJ and MLK” is racist? answer that.

Defend Obama’s disapproving “unfortunate” response

Defend Obama’s keying in on the theme propagated by the media that teh Clintons are racists, with the “leaked” Obama memo detailing “racially sensitive comments.”

yes, it says that I have PRINCIPLES and seeing another so-called Dem attack teh only successful 2 term democrat in 40 years while praising Reagan, and calling two truly liberal Democratic powerhouses “racists” is AGAINST MY PRINCIPLES!

You and your dear leader will not be forgiven!

The fact that you’re unwilling to even consider that Obama is anything but “Great” says even more about you.
