Military was desegregated under Harry Truman in 1948. so by the time I was in the military, from 1975 to 1980, that had allowed many black officers to reach general officer rank, as I mentioned..I served under and got to meet, a black 3 star general, Julius Becton, VII Corps commander, and a 1 star black general who was assistant division commander for the 1st Armored Division.
