No Quarter A Major Player in the Presidential Race

No Quarter’s detractors can refer to us as fringe and irrelevant, but Presidential Watch 08’s map of the 297 most influential blogs writing on the Presidential race reveals we are one of the few progressive websites that is actually shaping and determining the terms of debate this election cycle.

An explanation of Presidential Watch 08’s map and methodology is available at this URL.

No Quarter, according to PW08, is read by both Democrats and Republicans, and it has been acknowledged by many media outlets.

Because this Web site receives links from a wide array of web sites — not one set of websites that mindlessly repeat the same information ad nauseum — we are located not at the periphery but at the center of the map.

Thank you for helping us keep the entire electorate informed.  Granting no quarter to Barack Obama and John McCain, we intend to remain unbought and unbossed this election cycle.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for your continued support.

This site has been invaluable in delivering the news the media deems unnecessary to the American voter. Thank you Larry, and all others for such an excellent resource.

Naturally……..No Quarter isn’t a nanny site. This site even trust that threads about obscure conspiracy theories will wear out.

I totally support this site’s philosophy of open communcations.

I was/am a proponent of this communications theory even in corporate.

It works.

Let the information out. Controlling doesn’t work.

Just let people flip-flop until they settle.

Present it all. Good, bad, and ugly.

It WILL

Comment by John | 2008-06-25 14:08:31

If Pat Buchanan can write a book about Where the Right Went Wrong, Democrats should be able to ask analogous questions. Takeover by extreme left factions has destroyed them much as the neocon virus ruined Republicans.

Got a thank you from Big Ed OReillys campaign in MASS

this guy is the real deal I think!!

Please consider Ed OReilly, the Dem running against Kerry in MASS for Senate

please take a look at his positions and if you think he is a good candidate and you are in or out of MASS please think about helping the campaign, calling or walking or donating

I am on the other side of the country and I am trying to get some new life in the old Congress especially to replace the sell outs who are backing Uhhbama prior to June 4th and couldnt tell their constituents why, but took a payout..

As it should!
This blog had been one of the few rays of consistency for me in those troubled, confusing times when progressive turned freeper, media picked it’s pampered idiot from the other party which in turn proceeded to steal elections like the original media darlings. The blogosphere that was supposed to be the media watchdog blended with them and many internet sites began harbingers for what may be, squelching dissent, encouraging personal abuse with the blessings of the candidate they were shilling for (thanks to No Quarter for exposing that link too) So, thanks for the sanity sanctuary, No Quarter and may you grow more influential and read by all.

Congrats and thanks Larry and Susan. I came to this sight after someone at TM mentioned it some time ago. I check it off and on throughout the day to see what’s new. Love reading the blogs even tough noone ever responds to mine. I mostly just read and stay informed about the goings on in “baby ducky Obama’s world.?” The bad stuff just flies off him like water on a little duck’s back.

Comment by Ted | 2008-06-25 14:37:41

Great. And all you had to do was pretend “at the center” means out on the edge, and “not at the periphery” means out on the edge.

The map puts noquarter at the extreme periphery of the blogosphere (read the explanation and you will learn that distance from the center and size of the dot are the important metrics. noquarter is a very small dot on the edge. Which is fine, but it is comical that, as usual, this is spun into being a plus. And the readers all fall in line and say yes, great, congratulations.

Scary.

Yes, you’re rather slow today Ted. Age catching up with you?

Comment by AnnieCarmel | 2008-06-25 16:12:00

It does seem to be a troll irritant though, Teddy. Your rock awaits, now just crawl back under it.

Comment by Ted | 2008-06-25 18:39:40

I’m just stating facts. LJ misrepresented what the map says about noquarter, and I am setting the record straight.

I visit numerous blogs, and, by far, folks here tend to automatically reject non-compliant comments with name-calling and “you are a troll”, etc.

If you disagree with my comment, why not debate the facts. What do you accomplish with a statement like “crawl under a rock”? DO I live under a rock because I understand how to interpret the map and decide to correct the error LJ has published?

Note I am not knocking Hillary (I think she would have been a fine candidate) or pushing Obama (I do think he is miles better than McCain), I am just correcting factual errors. If that makes me a troll, then so be it. A troll I am.

Comment by Hillary or Bust | 2008-06-25 16:49:21

Sorry, I’m going to have to agree with the troll here. I read “in the center” and looked at the picture and saw a clear disconnect. No Quarter is not at the center. It’s on the side, but still linked up pretty well.

I think it’s great that NoQuarter is in the top 300. That’s a very positive achievement. But try to contain the hyperbole…otherwise, you are just feeding the trolls.

Comment by IndayHill | 2008-06-25 19:45:17

I would hope that this site continues to keep intact its independent arm of the progressive body-blogosphere and does not find itself at the mercy of idiots who would be so easily inclined to ruin this wonderful oasis of free thought and speech. God knows how scarce this venue of communication is in our current political milieu.

My Friends,

The Straight Talk Express bus has become a symbol of my campaign’s openness, honesty and access - true democracy at work. Some of my favorite memories of the campaign so far are of riding on the Straight Talk Express across this great country, enjoying unscripted, spirited conversation about the issues with members of the press and other passengers. I believe voters deserve a close, unfiltered examination of our presidential candidates. This give-and-take of ideas is a true example of democracy in action.

I’d like to take the opportunity today to invite you to join me on the Straight Talk Express for a day of conversation and campaigning.

Our last “Ride the Bus” contest was such a success, we’ve decided to launch it again. As a token of my appreciation for your financial support, any donation you make between today and next Monday at midnight, will qualify you to win a seat aboard the Straight Talk Express. I hope you’ll consider joining me by making a donation right away.

http://www.johnmccain.com/ridethebus

If I am given the great honor of serving as the next President of the United States, I will make certain that my administration is open and forthright about the issues facing this country, and I will keep this great conversation going that began on the Straight Talk Express.

I’ve said before that I’m running to be president of all Americans and the Straight Talk Express enables me to travel around our great country to meet directly with Americans to discuss their thoughts, ideas and concerns. We’re facing many great challenges as a nation, and I am running for president to solve these challenges through government reform.

I hope you will join my campaign for reform today and make a contribution before next Monday. Remember, with any donation you make you’ll be entered to win a trip aboard the Straight Talk Express for the day. Thank you, as always, for your tireless support.

Sincerely,

John McCain

P.S. I’ve never been afraid to do things a little differently on the campaign trail. I’ve never been afraid to hold town hall forums, engaging Americans in a discussion on the issues. My campaign bus, the Straight Talk Express, has taken me to every corner of our great country to meet with Americans who agree we need reform. Today, you have the chance to win a day with me on the Straight Talk Express. You will be entered to ride the bus with me by making a donation of any amount before next Monday

As baghdadobama said above, there is a reason why so many Obama astrotrolls are assigned to this site. The site is read a ton and is looked to by all corners of the political spectrum.

Congratulations, No Quarter!

Once it became evident that sites such as Taylor Marsh’s and MyDD would abandon little d democracy for the Big D Democratic Coup Party, the importance of a site like No Quarter went through the roof. No surprise you guys have had to quadruple the server count.

Not only has the site handled the excess flow of traffic but everyone writing on the site (save the hopelessly outgunned astrotrolls) has seriously upped their game correspondingly. The work has been phenomenal and inspiring, and we are all the better for it and draw strength from what is being done here.

Like a Minuteman answering Paul Revere’s call, No Quarter has answered the Chicagoan takeover of the Democratic Party like a true hero and patriot.

Thank you, God Bless You and God Bless America. We will not allow this fraud to destroy our party and our nation.

Let me add my congratulations, too. You provide a forum where ideas can be expressed freely and information shared. Your articles and those of your guest writers give us the information we need to make political decisions. You don’t try to decide for us what our position(s) should be. Alas, I can’t say the same for much of the mainstream media. Keep up the outstanding work.

lick on the site meter. 22,826 visits per day. Think about how many times you visit the site each day. Once, twice, five times? So that number probably represents about 10,000 different people visiting each day. 300,000,000 people in the US.

By comparison, Kos has 819,542 daily visits.

This site has a presence, but it is not a particularly large one.

Comment by Medusa | 2008-06-25 16:09:52

I bet Kos is wondering where you are? Better scurry home. Most of Kos’ visitors are knuckle draggers, just like you.

The truth of the matter is that it’s not so much the number of visits NQ gets, it’s WHO visits. The grownups read NQ, and some of these grownups are very important.

You kids at the Daily Pimple read after spray painting Andre the Giant on freeway sidings. But that’s okay. Everyone has to start somewhere.

I will agree this site has made one heck of an impact on reporting correctly the truth and issues that matter in this presidential race. But, when folks who do not want to know the truth or issues they are the ones that lash out and begin their name calling.
I can attest to the fact on a certain “Democratic” site the moderators were ready to black ball and stop one from posting that was against their guy and thus remove you from posting.
But I would rather post issues and truth then walk blindly not knowing what the heck my candidate was all about.
I do thank you.

Comment by WestPalm4Hillary | 2008-06-25 15:33:08

Regardless of what happens in November, I RELISH the murmurs and dissent against the DNC.

The truth is, Obama has had everything handed to him on a silver platter his entire life. (Spare me the sob stories about his mom taking food stamps while a doctoral student!)

He expected to skate into the Presidency, and like Bush, would “figure things out” once he got there.

But now, that empty suit flim flam man has to WORK for a vote. Make him WORK for your vote. Make him SPEND SPEND SPEND his money, like he did in PA, OH, and TX. Show him that if he’s too tired and too much of a baby to run a HARD campaign, he’s not cut out for the hardest job in the world.

MAKE THE DEMOCRATS WORK TO WIN — because, really, besides being “not Republicans,” what, exactly, have Democrats accomplished or done these past few years they’ve had the power to demonstrate they’re any better?

Because the sad part is folks, if Obama skates in, and is the disaster I believe he will be, even if he’s a one term president WE’LL (the tax payers) be paying him a lifetime $400k/year pension and secret service detail till his skinny ass dies…. that’s a LOT of money to help Michelle Obama get over the pain she feels spending 10k/year on piano lessons for her kids.

WASHINGTON, June 25 –Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama should not select former Sen. Sam Nunn to be his vice presidential running mate because of Mr. Nunn’s support for doing business with the terrorist state of Iran.

HAHAHAHA

Sam Nunn? More reason not to vote for Barky.
Sam Nunn is the worst.

Actually, this blog only represents the vindictive nature of people. If the bottom line is that you all are not voting for Obama, then what is the point of this blog. Basically, it means that you will cast your vote for McCain in November. However, anyone with half a brain can see that this blog is representing far more than not voting for Obama, it is spewing garbage to try and convince other people not to vote for Obama. If you were so confident in the fact that McCain will take the election, then what is the point in going from thread to thread with the same trash? When anyone says something good about Obama, it is wrong. Whenever there is some unsubstantiated “fact” put on any thread, it is automatically pounced on and gobbled up as the truth. When people come in to defend Obama, everyone who is against Obama immediately starts to insult and criticize the blogger. This is a democracy and people are going to vote for whomever they choose. I just wonder why is this movement based on anti-Obama riff-raff? It makes me question the motives behind this site. I am bracing myself for the insults that are sure to come; however, I am not an “Obot” or a “troll”…. I am just amazed that the people on this site are more into trying to convince people not to vote for Obama when our right as American’s is to vote for who we choose. If McCain is your choice then check his name on the ballot in November, end of story. The logic here just doesn’t tie-out.

Do Obama trolls believe in paragraphs?

I think they suffer from a “stream-feeling” disconnect. This happens when you let an “education” go to waste.

Didn’t Nixon say this?

“I am not an “Obot” or a “troll”…. ” see where that got him.
