Karl Rove is one jolly fat man. With George Carlin well on his way to being worm food, looks like Karl is angling to become America’s new funny man. I refer of course to Karl’s outrage that the “NY Times outed a CIA officer.” Appearing on Bill O’Reilly’s show yesterday, Rove and O’Reilly had this exchange:
“Last week, the New York Times outed a CIA agent — I’m not going to mention his name — who interrogated Khalid Sheikh Mohammed,” said O’Reilly. “The CIA asked the New York Times not to do that, it obviously puts the CIA agent in danger because al Qaeda knows who he is, and they say, ‘Well, we’ll out anybody unless they’re under cover.’”
The Times added an Editor’s Note to the story following its initial publication, explaining why they had revealed the interrogator’s name even though the CIA asked them not to do so. “After discussion with agency officials and a lawyer for Mr. Martinez, the newspaper declined the request, noting that Mr. Martinez had never worked under cover. … The newspaper seriously considered the requests from Mr. Martinez and the agency. But in view of the experience of other government employees who have been named publicly in books and published articles or who have themselves chosen to go public, the newspaper made the decision to print the name.”
“The New York Times has a double standard,” Rove replied to O’Reilly. “It was deeply concerned when Richard Armitage outed Valerie Plame. Of course, they were only concerned until the point that it became apparent it was Richard Armitage, not Karl Rove.”

Fair game. You said that a real undercover CIA officer was fair game for political attacks. And how about Matt Cooper and Robert Novak?
– Time magazine reporter Matt Cooper said, “Karl Rove told me about Valerie Plame’s identity on July 11, 2003. I called him because Ambassador Wilson [Plame’s husband] was in the news that week. I didn’t know Ambassador Wilson even had a wife until I talked to Karl Rove.”
– A week prior to publishing his column which outed Plame, Robert Novak spoke with Rove. Novak brought up Plame’s role at the CIA, and Rove confirmed that Plame worked at the CIA: “I heard that too,” said Rove.
You did not get it then and you do not get it now. The current CIA officer in question, Deuce Martinez, is not undercover. He is an analyst working in an overt (i.e., uncovered) job. His identity is not a secret. His future success in the CIA does not depend on going to work overseas.
And the notion that he is at danger from Al Qaeda is laughable. Why? Because, the CIA despite all of its flaws and shortcomings, has done a good job of killing and capturing key Al Qaeda operatives. They are a decimated organization. (See Marc Sageman for more on this.) It does not have the ability to send a hit team to track down Deuce Martinez. Of course, Bill O’Reilly and Karl Rove did not give a shit about a genuine risk to Valerie Plame back in 2003. At that time, Al Qaeda actually did threaten to kill her. And Valerie was left on her own to figure out how to protect herself and her family.
Now, even though Deuce was not undercover, the fact that the CIA requested the NY Times not print his name should have been taken seriously. The NY Times just proved that it has the scruples of Robert Novak, who also rejected several pleas from the CIA to not print Valerie’s name.
But there is a big difference between exposing an undercover CIA officer like Valerie, who had a network of spies overseas, and an overt analyst. The good news is that the recent revelations by Bush’s former press secretary, Scott McClellan, seals the deal for the Wilson’s law suit against Karl Rove and others. McClellan has stated flatly that Rove lied about his role in outing Valerie Plame. If that case goes to trial Mr. Rove will have a chance to explain why it is okay to out an undercover officer but not okay to write about an officer who is working in the open. I still want a frog march.
Just to clarify- Karl Rove is not fat, his face appears on TV rounder than it is. I met him last week when he was on vacation and thanked him for defending Hillary a number of times.
His defense of HRC, even though I realize it is entirely self-serving for his and the GOP’s interests, has definitely reduced my antipathy towards him.
He’s still Turd Blossom, but if he continues to pump-up Hillary and punk out Bambi then his radioactivity will have had it’s half life sped up dramatically in my eyes.

This entire Obama-Hillary fiasco smacks of Rovism…and indeed I’ve seen him licking his fat chops over in on-air.
The MSM ignored the other candidates literally out of the race until it was the Black Man vs Woman show they wanted in order to pit the two most loyal constituencies of Dems against each other.
Of course, if Obama weren’t the misogynistic, narcissistic corporate puppet that he is, it might not have evolved into the antagonistic misadventure that it was. But it was a foregone conclusion, given the fraud’s political history of dealing with criminal cronies and willingness to accept others’ work as his own.

And it probably is, or was. If you can face the weaker candidate who has less support — Bambi — then that is what you try to achieve strategically. It would certainly be a Rove move to do just that.

Now that Hillary appears to be out of the way, that wellspring of support seems to have dried up pretty damn fast, huh? -The popular vote in the Democratic primary is irrelevant and unreliable for two reasons: the caucus states cause the popular vote statistic to be uncalculatable; the Democratic nomination is based on delegate count. (I don’t need to mention the fact that Hillary flip-flopped on her stance regarding the votes of MI & FL).
Now I don’t like either of these facts and would like to see the process become more democratic; one person one vote, the candidate with the most votes wins.
But, these are the current rules. If you don’t like the rules, try to change them.

(For the record, as soon as the MSM began vetting the candidate, that is, when his close personal bonds with Reverend Wright, Father Phleger, and Minister Farrakhan, whom he called his “mentors,” became public in February, his popular vote numbers plummeted.)

Though the Plame outting was a bottom in the history of America, and should never, ever be forgotten or repeated.
The Rove I’m seeing on Fox, I’m generally liking. I am sensing that he wants to be thought of as a universal guru, and his commentary seems more truth oriented than partisan.

So, let’s take stock of where we’ve been and where we are now. First, the sweeties tried to debate us. Yes, they came with their personal power dynamics themed speeches about how we can all get along as long as we listened to them and stopped being such belligerent idiots. That didn’t work so well. Then they tried the guilt trips. If we didn’t
vote for Obama, the forced pregnancy police were going to visit women at the workplace and subject everyone to pelvic exams. But we pointed out that the SCOTUS already has enough votes to overturn Roe without any help from us. Besides, with Obama now supporting Steny Hoyer’s FISA legislation, Roe is not the only thing we have to worry about with the Supreme Court and Obama is not the guy to save it.
The most recent tactic to be used against us is something we researchers use occasionally. It’s called Learned Helplessness. We sometimes induce this in lab rats in order to test anti-depressant drugs. In short, the rat is subjected to a stressful situation, like putting it in a tank of water and making it think it’s about to drown. This situation is one that it can’t resolve or relieve. Do this for n times and then measure how much the rat is depressed by putting it the corner of a square, for example, and measure how long it takes for the rat to wander out of it. The efficacy of the drug is related to how quickly the rat leaves the corner. Really depressed rats just sit there. And sit there. They have become passive against what they see as overwhelming helplessness, or so we think because, after all, no rat has ever told us how suicidal it is.

“What I’ve said is that I’m a strong supporter of the Second Amendment, but I do not think that that precludes local governments being able to provide some kind of common sense gun laws that keep guns out of the hands of gang bangers or children,” said Obama.
“What I’d like to do,” Obama continued, “is wait and see how the Supreme Court comes down and evaluate the actual reasoning in the case to see how broad or narrow the decision’s going to be.”

Isn’t it odd that government officials have a way of delving into the lives of people who oppose their points of view and use the information against them. But for some reason or the other no one seems to be able to confirm whether or not a presidential candidate is even a legal citizen of the United States. A matter of convenience I suppose.

I also don’t have very high regards for our government. But to think that someone hasn’t verified that Obama is indeed a citizen of the US is just plain, well, silly.
Yes, there are morons in the threads of those discussions. One really mentally deficient soul even described Obama as an “illegal alien.”
But cherry-picking silly comments doesn’t negate the entire discussion.
The point is, for whatever reason, Obama is hiding his birth certificate and posting fraudulent ones on his “stop the smears” site.

The fact that Obama is hiding … something … is the issue. Citizen Obama can (try to) hide whatever he wants. For Presidential Candidate Obama, it is another matter entirely.
Well yes, Obama did say it was the silly season didn’t he? Was he referring to his aids or campaign managers who questioned whether or not McCain was an American citizen?
