Barack Obama’s Hip Hop Flip Flop
By Uppity Woman on July 3, 2008 at 9:05 PM in Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, Misogyny, Sexism, women
It wasn’t that long ago that Barack Obama was criticizing Rap for the images the medium conjures up. In fact, he directly blamed the Don Imus incident on Rap, which created a bit of a stir in the Rap community.
At a fund raiser in South Carolina with the SC Legislative Black Caucus, Sen. Barack Obama stated, “We’ve got to admit to ourselves, that it was not the first time that we heard the word ‘ho’. Turn on the radio station. There are a whole lot of songs that use the same language & we’ve been permitting it in our homes, and in our schools and on iPods,” in light of the Don Imus incident.
“If it’s not good for Don Imus, I don’t know why it’s good for us. If we don’t like other people to degrade us, why are we degrading ourselves?”
Ironically, this is probably one of the most truthful things Obama has ever said. Too bad it didn’t last very long. Alas, in typical Obama fashion, he has changed his mind. Of course, he’s been currently featured in Rolling Stone, so our special candidate Barack “Changeling” Obama is adjusting himself accordingly.
“I am troubled sometimes by the misogyny and materialism of a lot of rap lyrics,” he said, “but I think the genius of the art form has shifted the culture and helped to desegregate music.”
Barack Obama troubled by misogyny? You could have fooled me! He’s the Poster Boy for misogyny.
He said hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons and rappers Jay-Z and Ludacris were “great talents and great businessmen.”
“It would be nice if I could have my daughters listen to their music without me worrying that they were getting bad images of themselves,” he added.
That’s interesting isn’t it? I wonder what kind of images his daughters had of themselves while he and his surrogates were trashing Hillary as a woman, not to mention his treatment of women on the campaign trail. I wonder what images his daughters had of themselves when he was discussing his vibrating cell phone.
Obama has already introduced us to Jay-Z’s work. In a highly professional and “presidential-like” performance that ranked right up there with slapping Michelle on the ass on National TV, Obama mimed Jay-Z during one of his stump speeches: the one where he gave Hillary the finger and brushed “whatever” from his shoulders.
Now how about the “great talent” Ludacris whom Obama admires so much? How about that guy’s inspiring lyrics? I kind of had a hard time choosing which lyrics to post here. After much labor and nausea, I decided to select that profound work called “Ho,” although “Pimp Council,” ran a close second. Here you go:
Ho
(Chorus)
Hooooooooo (Ho) Youza Hoooooo (Ho) Youza Hoooooo (Ho) I said that youza hooooo (Ho) (Repeat 1x)
(Ludacris)
You doin ho activities With ho tendencies
Hos are your friends, hoes are your enemies
ho energy to do whacha do Blew whacha blew Screw whacha screw
Yall professional like DJ Clue, pullin on my coat tail an why do you think you take a ho to a hotel?
Hotel everybody, even the mayor
Reach up in tha sky for tha hozone laya
Come on playa once a ho always And hos never close they open like hallways
An heres a ho cake for you whole ho crew an everybody wants some cuz hoes gotta eat too(chorus x2)
(Ludacris)
Cant turn a ho into a housewife
Hos dont act right
Theres hos on a mission, an hoes on a crackpipe
Hey ho how ya doin, where ya been?
Prolly doin ho stuff cuz there you ho again Its a ho wide world, that we livin in feline, feminine, fantastical, women
Not all, just some You ho who you are
Theres hoes in tha room, theres hoes in tha car theres hoes on stage, theres hoes by tha bar hos by near, an hos by far Ho! (But can i getta ride?!)
NO! (Cmon, nigga why?!) Cuz youza(chorus 2x)
(Ludacris)
You gotta run in your pantyhos Even your daddy knows that you suckin down chocolate like daddy-o’s You hos are horrible, horrendous
On taxes ya’ll writin off hos as dependents
I see tha ho risin it aint surprisin its just a hoasis with ugly chicks faces but hos dont feel so sad and blue cuz most of us niggaz is hos too(chorus x2)
(Ho)
Muthafuckas im so tiired of yall niggaz always talkin bout hos this, hos that, you tha muthafuckin ho nigga I wasnt no ho last night(Pimp)
Ho, bring yo ass!
(Ho) Ok, hold on
Whoa! That’s profound stuff, isn’t it? I mean we are talking inspiration here! We’re talking serious respect for self and women, hey? I mean I can’t wait to get to the parts where we beat the crap out of them and make them bleed, can you? You can get encouragement for that in Rap too! Something for every man! What message does a presidential candidate send to young men and women when he announces that a genre that promotes a filthy mouth, prostitution and violence against women is borne of “Genius” and “Talent”? Does any normal person you know who has kids really want them buying into this crap?
Obama actually approves of his daughters listening to this shit? What’s that all about? Preparation for their lives???
If Obama’s daughters aren’t inspired by “Hos,” Ludicris’ works include other amazingly upbeat, informative, inspiring and female-loving examples, including:
“Girls Gone Wild,”
“Move Bitch,”
“Pimpin’ All Over The World”.
And guess what, folks? As Rappers go, Ludacris is one of the more gentle ones!
Ok let’s recap Duplicitous Panderer, Barack Obama’s opinion(s) of Rap:
1. Rap is bad. Unless you are featured in Rolling Stone. Then rap is good.
2. Rap is degrading, but not really.
3. Rap is bad for his daughters’ self-image, but still, the people who produce this crap are “talented”.
4. The misogyny in Rap is bad. But not so bad. Really. But not really. Kind of. Sort of.
5. The word “Ho” is bad if that pig Don Imus uses it. But “Ho” is good if a “talented” Rapper raps it.
6. Rap is bad, but it’s good. Well not really good, but not bad. Besides, it’s only an insult to women, so who cares?
7. Besides, the violence and disrespect in Rap is aimed at women anyways, so who cares? I’m in Rolling Stone, man! So to hell with those Ho’s!
I’m glad Obama has cleared this all up, aren’t you?
I myself am very impressed, aren’t you? I mean, everybody wants a President who thinks this kind of violent, hateful and misogyinic shit is worth applauding, right? Epecially people with two daughters like Comrade Obama has. I guess in some small way, we can find some comfort that this man doesn’t have any sons to teach woman-hating to.
I am sure that all of this makes you feel as confident, warm and fuzzy as i do about the thought that, if ever elected, Comrade Obama, his iPOD chuck full of “talented” Rap, and his bundlers from Pakistan would be in charge of women’s lives, well-being and future advancement.
And to think his vibrating cell phone caper was the worst we thought we could get out of this unPresidential Presidential candidate.

Popular culture or art, if you want to call it that, is a reflection upon the society from which it emanates. That much is understandable. What is not understandable is the statement that if either one of his daughters made a mistakeshe should not be punished. In the context the statement was made the punishment was a child.
That is a lack of parental judgment. Of course mistakes made by our kids should be punished, the punishment being in accordance the nature of the mistake. If the mistake is a dropped sign on an algebra test, the punishment is a little extra care and study. If the mistake is exchanging sex for another hit off the crack pipe, the punishment should be quite severe. These lyrics suggest that in at least one segment of our society, popular culture would not view such an exchange as a mistake worth punishing.
Presumptive teen-ager!
Obama consistently surrounds himself with people and ideas which he claims he doesn’t believe in: Wright, Ayers, Ludacris, etc. Obama has a judgment problem.
Show me your friends and I will show you who you are.
I read that RS interview at the salon today. It was lame as hell. He tries to sound hip, but he’s not. When asked if he was ever a dead head, he said he never wore tie dyes or followed the dead. *rolls eyes*
Oh, there’s was something he mentioned, can’t remember the wording exactly, but he said something like as he gets older he feels less need for vanity to feed his ego.
I can barely even keep up on all of Obama’s lies and flip flops and hazy talk.
Now Obama changes his mind in Christian Magazine interview. TOPIC: late term abortion qualifications…”mental health” not legit.
http://news.aol.com/elections/story/_a/obama-mental-distress-cant-justify-late/n20080703185809990012?cid=435
“David N. O’Steen, the executive director of National Right to Life, said Obama’s remarks to the magazine “are either quite disingenuous or they reflect that Obama does not know what he is talking about.”
“You cannot believe that abortion should not be allowed for mental health reasons and support Roe v Wade,” O’Steen said.”
NARAL should be ashamed of themselves.
“I’m sort of hip to the younger stuff, you know.” per Obama.
Obama’s invocation of Jay-Z’s defiant”Dirt Off Your Shoulder” battle anthem during a speech adds evidence to the claim that he gave Hillary the finger. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UoOFp-RDpvM
There’s Barack Obama, after the last debate’s dust-up, beleaguered but still standing, acknowledging that he’s taken some hits from his opponent, some mighty hits, but you know, it’s okay, because that’s politics. Ultimately, you’ve got to . .And then he brushes the dirt off his shoulders. Repeatedly. The crowd leaps to its feet, applauding and laughing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yel8IjOAdSc
As Obama and Michelle, strolled triumphantly into his victory party in Des Moines, Iowa, on Jan. 3, the candidate’s theme song, “99 Problems” (Jay-Z’s- I got 99 problems, but a bitch ain’t one.) was blaring. A not-so-sly reference to Hillary.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nnaG4LGeW6I 99 Problems But A Bitch Ain’t One
Added to the slap on the ass & fist bump…VERY PRESIDENTIAL INDEED!
I am surprised at Obama’s concern about his daughters listening to rap. After all, he didn’t mind them listening to Reverend Wright.
Boy Rita, are you ever right.
Will he make a Bros before Hoes pledge - a degrading T-shirt in every closet?
229,000 references on google alone.
Here is one of the first to pop-up:
CULT CLASSIC for men, WOMEN and CHILDREN!

Thanks to senator obama for setting back women’s rights to pre 1970 levels.
It is past time to promote a “women power” stand against this threat to human rights, senator ob.
Hillary ain’t no Ho, he must mean Larry Sinclair.
His voters reward him for bashing women. Real nice.
OBVIOUSLY MY CANDIDATE WAS IMPRISONED BY OBAMA’S MONEY.
I CAN’T ACCEPT THAT. INSTEAD OF UNITY, OBAMA CAMPAIGN HAS PAINTED HILLARY AS LOWER KIND OF ANIMAL.
IF THESE DEMS REALLY WANTED TO HELP MY BELOVED HILLARY, WHY DID THEY STILL PUBLISH HILLARY’S FINANCIAL PROBLEM.
I AM TIRED OF DEMOCRATIC PARTY. WE NEED TO FORM A NEW PARTY OF OUR OWN. THIS TIME A PARTY WITHOUT THE EXTREME SOCIALISTS AND ANTI-AMERICANS WORKING BEHIND OBAMA.
GET OUT! I HOPE BILL CLINTON LEADS US.
COME NOV. ELECTION, I WILL VOTE FOR MCCAIN!
So how long before Senator Obama makes one of his classic meme statement “No one has ever done as much for Women’s rights as me.”
Cause if he says it, it must be true!
Hip-hop is a piece of crap but the problem is that is “repected” and considered culture…and I wonder why.’You reap what you sow’ and now we get Obama.
Yep, this society certainly has gotten what it sowed. Obama is like a boil that has come to a head–but he will be lanced and gotten rid of. Rappers shouting, “Obama or Die” and middle-aged jazz singers subbing the “Black National Anthem”–or whatever it’s called–for the real national anthem are just two more big, strong nails in the coffin of BO’s candidacy. He doesn’t even bother to condemn such antics. He has most of the black vote and won’t lose it, so why doesn’t he speak out against such conduct? I guess because he thinks he’s the affirmative action candidate and will get the job regardless. Well, Barack, you have to pass muster with millions of would-be bosses this time, and we’ll be choosing the BEST applicant!
I am really not into this kind of artistic expression and I really don’t know what I am talking about. However, I do know that the rap style of expression does not have to be misogynistic, violent, or hateful.
I have been involuntarily forced to listen to some rap that was actually somewhat interesting, creative, and amusing and written and performed by nice Mormon lads in one case and a soft-spoken Catholic priest in another.
I guess my point is, glorifying rap does not have to be the same as glorifying violence and hate.
So Obama should maybe broaden his horizons a little before he takes over the world and just watch his p’s and q’s.
And maybe he could take a few dollars from his overflowing coffers and commission a bright rap artist or two to compose some positive campaign related raps.
In my dreams.
For entertainment value alone, Obama owes us all an explanation of the value of this:
You’re now tuned into the muh’fuckin greatest
Turn the music up in the headphones
Tim, you can go and brush your shoulder off nigga
I got you, yeah
If you feelin like a pimp nigga, go and brush your shoulders off
Ladies is pimps too, go and brush your shoulders off
Niggaz is crazy baby, don’t forget that boy told you
Get, that, dirt off your shoulder
I probably owe it to y’all, proud to be locked by the force
Tryin to hustle some things, that go with the Porsche

Middle finger to the law, nigga grip’n my balls
All the ladies they love me, from the bleachers they screamin
All the ballers is bouncin they like the way I be leanin
All the rappers be hatin, off the track that I’m makin
But all the hustlers they love it just to see one of us make it
Came from the bottom the bottom, to the top of the pots

Like a running back, get it man, I’m straight off the block
I can run it back nigga cause I’m straight with the Roc
You gotta get, that, dirt off your shoulder
You gotta get, that, dirt off your shoulder
You gotta get, that, dirt off your shoulder
You gotta get, that, dirt off your shoulder
Your homey Hov’ in position, in the kitchen with soda
I just whipped up a watch, tryin to get me a Rover
Tryin to stretch out the coca, like a wrestler, yessir
Keep the Heckler close, you know them smokers’ll test ya
But like, fifty-two cards when I’m, I’m through dealin
Now fifty-two bars come out, now you feel ‘em
Now, fifty-two cars roll out, remove ceiling
In case fifty-two broads come out, now you chillin
with a boss bitch of course S.C. on the sleeve
At the 40/40 club, ESPN on the screen
I paid a grip for the jeans, plus the slippers is clean
No chrome on the wheels, I’m a grown-up for real
Your boy back in the building, Brooklyn we back on the map
Me and my beautiful beeeeeeeitch in the back of that ‘Bach
I’m the realest that run it, I just happen to rap
I ain’t gotta clap at ‘em, niggaz scared of that black
I drop that +Black, Album+ then I back, out it
As the best rapper alive nigga ask about me
From Bricks to Billboards, from grams to Grammys
The O’s to opposite, Orphan Annie
You gotta pardon Jay, for sellin out the Garden in a day
I’m like a young Marvin in his hey’

Best rapper alive, best rapper alive

The Great Barack Hussein Obama…
The King of Flip Flops!
Do pledged Obama delegates have the obligation to switch votes at the convention if they feel that he no longer represents the sentiments of those that elected him?
The DNC rules not only allow it, they encourage it:

man.. we have some ignorant people in this country.. Obama didn’t flip his story or change his opinion in anyway he was expressing that Hip Hop is is an art form.. just like country music. Let’s face it the Ghetto Thugs of society are out there and can’t relate in any way to country music… It’s not going to happen.
And where do you people get the fact that there is only sex involved with hip hop.. Fuck, already!! Look this is the first song I pulled up and there talking about sex!!
