Comment by Linda K | 2008-07-04 19:33:58

I received a notice from Hillary Grassroots asking me to redirect my donations to her re-election campaign in 2012. And yet here we’re being reminded to help pay her debt down. Anyone know what’s going on?

Comment by imustprotest | 2008-07-04 20:02:24

That may be if you are already over your limit to donate to HRC’s campaign fund.

Comment by Dawn | 2008-07-04 20:04:30

I did it otherwise she has to return it, I believe she can only transfer her GE contributions to her senate campaign. Anyway if you do this Obama wont get them for sure

Comment by josgirl | 2008-07-04 20:42:31

On HRC’s web page don’t contribute through the “contribute” button, that’s for the Senate race.
Go down to the “Spotlight” box.
That goes to Hillary Clinton for President and is strictly for paying down the debt.

Oooooooooo excellent!!

Quite a group of pathetic leaders this planet has been suffering —— really makes you think.

(well it did me)

Even the LIGHT show tonight was only half as long as usual in years past - disappointing

like the WHOLE group in the video
all of them (besides Hillary)

She got mine.

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-07-04 19:23:03

My partner and I each made donations. I cannot STAND the thought of Hillary being indebted to the DNC OR Obama, so yeah - I’ll keep giving (and have been).

Thanks, Susan - Happy Fourth to you, too! We could USE another Independence Day, don’t you think?

Comment by UKforDems | 2008-07-04 19:34:25

20 08 - 20 to represent the number of PUMA protestors. 08 to represent the year the Dems get the Presidency.

How’s that socialism treating you over there. What I see is a total breakdown in pride and patriotism. A surveillance society where there are cameras on every corner. Graffiti and vandalism on all the trains.
Not the England I knew when I lived there 8 years back in the 70’s.
You are losing your identity as you let in all the immigrants from the middle east.
You are the biggest debtor society on the planet.
Maybe you should focus on problems in your own country.

Comment by WildChild | 2008-07-04 20:28:53

Currently the Conservatives, who I support are polling over 50%. Not achieved since who knows when. The Bliar Bush era is over - look forward to Obama and Cameron.
There is very little tran vandalism - except that done by the NuLab government.
Glad to see you are not racist.. you bigoted hateful POS.
Biggest debtor ??? Which Country is now effectively OWNED by China?
The problems in the UK are caused by a Republican President. So it is only right I do my bit to campaign against the damage caused.

OBAMA 08 & 12

Then a vote for a third term.

UK
Maybe you should get your facts straight before dissing our great country.

Daily Telegraph
British households are now more indebted than those of any other major country in recorded history, it has emerged.

Families in the UK now owe a record 173pc of their incomes in debts, official figures have shown. The ratio of debt to income is higher than any other country in the Group of Seven leading industrialised economies, and is sharply higher than the 129pc of incomes it was five years ago.
I belong to several Railway preservation societies that are plagued constantly by the huge unmitigated vandalism problem
When I was over there I noticed a complete breakdown in services with notable trash and grime everywhere.
As for calling me a bigot.
England is the country with the home grown domestic terrorism brought about by leniency towards Islamic extremists who burn your flag and refuse to follow English laws.In fact you have a culture within your own which is rapidly gaining force.
Many of your cities are overrun by immigrants such as Bristol which is not English anymore.
Your apposed to socialism in your own country but your fine with it over here.
Time for you to get out find a job and stop looking for a hand out.

Does anyone know if Obama is really working to help Hllary pay down her debt? Why doesn’t he just pay it off?

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-07-04 19:25:20

You mean besides him giving her a check for $2,300 at their Unity Rally last week?? Ahem. He’s such a piece of work. I tell you, though, I hate the thought that she would HAVE to get money from him, as I said.

Didn’t Hillary have a HUGE war chest for the GE? That’s what I heard, but I understand that she cannot use that for her campaign debt. Is that accurate?

Comment by Lou | 2008-07-04 20:03:41

Then she turned around and gave Obama 2300 from her and 2300 from Bill..Obama=cheap basturd

Comment by Dawn | 2008-07-04 20:12:16

That is true she is asking to folks to transfer their GE donations to her 2012 senate race, if you have maxed out in the primary and have given extra funds past your 2300.00 it goes to the GE fund unless you request that she returns it to you or you can allow her to transfer it to her 2012 race either senate or what ever she runs for. I let her transfer it I would hate to see her not have the funds for her senate race. If you want more detail go to Heidi Li blog or to the Denver Group and email Heidi or Marc they can explain the contribution rules.

Comment by Teakwood | 2008-07-05 01:01:08

So far no one has tried to pull my t-shirt ot jacket off. But I pity the poor ass who tries. lol

Comment by CB | 2008-07-04 19:52:42

Did anyone get the response back from her PAC? I followed a link on a Web page that was devoted to paying off her debt, and got the usual contribute page, but my money seemed to go to Hillary’s PAC. At this point, it is probably the same endeavor. I certainly hope so. I don’t want Hillary to HAVE to appear on the same stage with Presumptuous any more than necessary.

NoBama ‘08, NoBama Forever

Comment by Rabble Rouser Reverend Amy | 2008-07-04 19:56:22

I did that the other day, too, and did not get the usual confirmation back. I didn’t really pay attention to it being her PAC, either. I sure HOPE it goes to paying off her debt (and I would think so since I got there from her website). Interesting change, though…

Comment by Lou | 2008-07-04 20:10:51

word out is if you feel iffy about the donation then send a separate email through the contact url and cut and paste the receipt and tell her it’s for ‘pay down the debt’

Comment by josgirl | 2008-07-04 20:49:04

To pay down the debt, don’t use the “contribute” button.
Go to the “Spotlight” box.
That goes to pay down the debt.

Comment by Lyn | 2008-07-04 21:01:41

The link on Heidi’s site takes to to a contribute spot that in the box you check off says
Confirm Your Eligibility
By checking this box, I confirm that the following statements are true and accurate:
I designate this contribution for 2008 primary election debt retirement.

Comment by josgirl | 2008-07-04 22:28:13

Update: the page that the contribute link takes you to says the first $2,300 automatically goes to the primary.
So even if your reciept is from Friends of Hillary Clinton Pac, if you’re under $2,300 total it goes to pay down the debt.

Comment by db | 2008-07-04 20:10:21

Let BO pay off her debt. He stole the nomination from her anyway. Make him pay!

I gave to Hillary repeatedly when she was running. But how do we know the money is going to pay off her debt?
How do we know it’s not going to BO?

With all the crap that’s gone on, how do we know anything that’s really going on?!!!!

Comment by 30yrdem-not any more | 2008-07-04 20:19:22

I guess we don’t…the other day when I was getting the link to give to Hillary for the 4th for my blog, when I went to her site the banner said Help pay off or down Hillary’s debt…today it has the Happy Independence Day banner up but there is a small thing under:

SPOTLIGHT

Show Hillary your Support
Contribute today to help us pay down the debt from one of the hardest-fought races in history.

Comment by Lou | 2008-07-04 20:12:24

McCain’s resume is loaded with experience, with 22 years in the Navy. He remarkably returned to flight status following five years as a POW. Starting out in the House, he then leaped into the U.S. Senate, serving more than 20 years. Obama has four years in the U.S. Senate. The experience section on his resume is short. The numbers don’t compare.

The next president’s experience, both the breadth and the depth of it, will matter when they take that Constitutional oath and makes decisions from the Oval Office desk

Comment by Lou | 2008-07-04 20:14:47

It is not going to BO. It’s illegal. He’s off her website and all she has there now is to clear the debt or to donate for her senate run in 2012..don’t panic.

I feel better :) Just hoping that a dent has been made, especially today - I’ve given a lot since she ‘conceded’ because I don’t want her to have to grovel - I just pray for an announcement before Denver that her debt was retired - INCLUDING the money she lent her campaign (that’d be a nice Obamayousuckass to send out)

Comment by 30yrdem-not any more | 2008-07-04 20:59:56

It felt good doing that again…I hope what we all gave today made a huge dent…I would like to see it gone before Denver so the DNC could see she still has our support.

I’m still amazed at what they’ve done and the absolute ignorance and arrogance of them. I hope the DailyKos, Huffpo, and moveon.org folk are getting a major upset tummy right now, and that Donna Dragzille and company are set off on an ice float somewhere. This has been such a joke -

I’ve talked with 2 bobo supporters in the past 2 weeks that actually believed he VOTED AGAINST the Iraq War Resolution! I had to explain the fact that he wasn’t in the senate. I’m dumbfounded.

Comment by 30yrdem-not any more | 2008-07-04 21:12:57

I know I read a piece this week that said he voted against it and that is why they will forgive him all his flip flop’s….I left a comment that he did not vote against it…he wasn’t even in the senate….How can people still write this lie…why are people dumb enough to believe it?

She has NOT conceded, just suspended, which means she still has her pledged delegates. She is not campaigning actively, but can still be nominated in the event something unexpected happens. That’s why the DNC and Obama are scared and want to take her off the ballot in Denver. That’s why it is so very important she is not beholden of Obama or the DNC to retire her primary debt. That’s why the Denver Group is so paramount. The contributions today are a wonderful way to show support, such a good idea to celebrate INDEPENDANCE! I hope we find out soon how much it amounts to.

because they’re into sound bites, not facts. It’s astounding how many people have gotten passionate about bobo, yet didn’t look at his record at all - just bought into the Hope & Change rhetoric. Same thing happened here in MA with Deval Patrick - people were so sick of the Romney effect on MA that he had an open canvas here - the only thing he’s truly accomplished to date is making our public beaches nicer…. ‘wow’.

Comment by Lou | 2008-07-04 21:42:55

The beaches were nice anyway..I’m going to Vegas to party and then Cape Cod for a good Atlantic spiritual swim, then on my way back to the West a stop off in Denver for the convention..I’ll be fully healed after that swim in the Atlantic and ready to jingle my keys and picket. Darragh is taking names for tickets to the convention. Front row seats anyone?

I don’t care if Obama is purple with pink polka dots…Say he is not black..how would that make him qualified to be president…a freshman senator..

My reasons for not voting for Obama have nothing to do with the color of his skin…I don’t give a hoot about that…I look at the candidates record…and the company they keep…I don’t find much that Obama has ever really done for anyone, I think he left a lot of mess in Ill. now look how he has “changed” all most everything he ran on in the primary…it was always said he and Hillary were so close on there policies…is he trying to do the same with McCain now?…ever moving to the right…and sitting in that church and all of his mentors, friends, well that just turns me off and my mind will never change…

And so we have become again a dependent nation. We borrow from Europe and Japan to defend the oil of Europe and Japan in the Persian Gulf. We borrow from China to buy the goods of China. We are as dependent on foreign borrowing as we are on foreign oil.

And the questions arise: If the men of ‘76, who led those small and vulnerable states, were wiling to sacrifice their lives, fortunes and sacred honor for America’s independence, what is the matter with us?

Do we not value independence as they did? Or is it that we are simply not the men our fathers were?

Happy Independence Day!

That phrase has more importance today than any time in recent history.

Especially for those who were formerly Democrats: who either were thrown under the bus by the Chicago Combine, or those who voluntarily declared they were no longer Democrats on May 31, 2008 (or before or later) because the Democratic Party no longer represented the ideals on which it was founded.

For all those who are either no longer Democrats or those who are hanging on to the shredded remnants of what was once the Democratic Party in hopes that they may realize in Denver the reconstitution of the party, one thing you have in common is your Independence.

You have your Independence from the Tyranny of Oppression by the Will of the Party Elites.

You have your Independence of Thought, Word and Deed.

You have your Independence from Undemocratic Processes.

You have your Independence to declare a New Union.

No matter how you arrived at the point where you declared your Independence from the oppression of Donation Without Representation (a voluntary form of taxation) and Election Without Representation (called Voter Suppression), you are now part of a New Union.

A New Union formed of Independent Thinkers who oppose the Party Elites in their call for Party Unity.

This New Union recognizes that this so-called Party Unity is nothing more than a guise for; a Winning at all Costs Coalition that will therein destroy the once Noble Democratic Party.

This New Union understands that real Unity is the shared idea that placing Country before Party is the truest and most noble voice of Independence and Democracy!

I salute you all today, you New Union of true American Independents.

Today is truly your and our Independence Day.

Make Dr. King Proud on the Anniversary of his “I Have A Dream” Speech.

Make his Words Ring Loud and Clear! Let’s prove him right!

Let “HIS” words come to Life in the 21st Century!

Mark your Calendars for the summer evening when Hillary comes to the podium in Denver to speak and to say: I accept the nomination of my Party and will be honored to lead you back to a path of peace and prosperity.

Right On! Hillary 2008!

Thank you Dr. King! We hear you still. Loud and Clear, Sir!
