“Secrets and Lies” (Jonatha Brooke)

What an appropriate song to recap the past week of Obama WORMing. (And hey, Jonatha Brooke is just COOL.) My personal favorite is him having to have a press conference to clear up what he said about Iraq recently. And then having to have a press conference to clear up what he said in the press conference. Same day. In Fargo, ND. He had a WORM session, then another WORM session to worm on the WORM (by the way, in case you don’t know, WORM stands for: What Obama Really Meant). I am telling you, people you just cannot make this stuff up. He had a press conference about his press conference. C’mon, that is freakin’ hilarious, don’t you think?

Well, I guess it WOULD be a tad funny if he wasn’t the presumptive nominee for the Democratic Party, if people’s LIVES weren’t at stake, and if he hadn’t based his ENTIRE candidacy on a speech he allegedly gave back in 2002 to a very select audience regarding the Iraq War and it being BAD. But now? Well, I reckon it just depends on the day!! Tomorrow might bring something else COMPLETELY new!! (If you would like to see a complete list, and an excellent post, check out SusanUnPC’s, “Oppo Research on Obama’s Shifting, Finger-to-the wind Iraq Stance” at NoQuarterUSA. EXCELLENT piece. It lays it all out there.)

Oh, wait - then there is the whole FISA thing. Now THAT seems to be turning a few more heads, too. For a while, I often mentioned what was going on over at TalkLeft.com, but once Obama became the presumptive nominee, the site got behind him. Well, Big Tent Democrat, one of the two main bloggers there, and attorney who tepidly supported Obama, is pretty upset about the whole FISA thing. BTD seems to think the Declaration of Independence speaks out about just such invasions of privacy that the FISA change would include. BTD does not fall for Obama’s WORMing on this, either, as he notes in his fine piece, “A Response to Obama’s Defense of the FISA Capitulation.”

And then there is Obama’s flip-flop on why mental distress does not count as indicative of the health of a woman who is considering an abortion. Now THAT is some WORM right there. No, that is unkind to worms. Come to think of it, I don’t know to what that would NOT be an insult…Come up with your own. But yes, NARAL and all of these so-called progressive women jumped on this American-Idol style cult bandwagon supporting this man, this man who claims that “mental distress” should not count in factoring the health of a woman. They picked HIM over the woman who has a CONSISTENT, long term record on her work for women, a woman who 13 years ago claimed that,”Women’s Rights are HUMAN Rights,”.

So, how do you all feel NOW? Just this holiday weekend, Obama has shown more and more of who he truly is. Maybe all of these folks should have been looking just a little bit closer for his “Secrets and Lies.” We tried to tell them, I know we did.

Oh, one more little thing. And this follows up nicely (ahem) with discussing the treatment of women. Andrew Sullivan, of The Atlantic, nominated me for The Moore Award. As in Michael Moore. Sullivan’s definition of the award is, “is for divisive, bitter and intemperate left-wing rhetoric.” And what PROMPTED this award? My post the other day, “Why Do They Hate Us?” You know, the one about the misogynistic treatment of women? The one about ow Hillary Clinton has been treated in this primary, especially, but the misogynistic/sexist/brutal treatment of women in general in this country, and many around the globe? Specifically, he targeted this quote,

Moore Award Nominee, June 30, 2008: “See, I have done a lot of work in the Domestic Violence movement. And I have seen this cycle before: the man abuses, attacks, and lashes out at the woman. The woman makes excuses for, and accepts blame from, the man for his attacks. Not unlike Senator Clinton saying now that they are friends, respect each other, and support each other. I know what respect looks and feels like - Senator Obama has shown NONE for Senator Clinton. Senator McCain has, but Obama? No. Seeing these photos of her with him now reminds me of battered women wearing sunglasses to hide the bruises, and saying, “Oh, he didn’t really mean it. It was my fault, really, I shouldn’t have made him mad. He really does love me, in his own way, really! Don’t be mad at him!”" - Revd Amy on Larry Johnson’s site.

Divisive? Bitter? Left-wing rhetoric? Um, no - realistic observation based on years of experience. But his award simply stands to prove the point I was making in the post, and Victoria Brownworth was making in Curve Magazine. So, thanks for proving the point, Andrew - women and our experiences, women and sexism, women and the constant threats we face, women and domestic violence, are discounted and disregarded by many in this country, and many in the media. Just what we have been saying all along - the media, particularly men, have openly denigrated women during this campaign, Hillary Clinton specifically. And gotten away with it. Hmm, come to think of it, I AM bitter - bitter that they have gotten away with it, and angry that they continue to show no understanding or REMORSE. Thanks for proving the point, Andrew! I might add, the ones who have been divisive around here have been Obama and his minions, not those of us who stand up to him and his “secrets and lies.” There is a big difference - it is called having a principled stand. Operating from integrity. Having a moral compass. Pick one. And maybe get one. That’s how all of these “Secrets and Lies” will be exposed…

He never understands what the “reaction” is about. Same with “bitter, gun-toting Americans” and Rev. Wright. What’s all the fuss about? Just because I insult large groups of people and lie on most issues? What’s the problem? Don’t they know I am the Messiah? Just ask USSR: Don’t question Obama.

Oh my, next…OBAMA FOR DUMMIES…Obama the dummy!

Phrases, just words: embellish, what I meant, denounce, reject, disown, silly, sweetie, change, forward and backwards,…

Add more…we will have to need a road map world dictionary to understand -no sense Oblame-

In the meantime, Oblame keeps playing “Catch Me If You Can’, and he thinks, in the case you caught me, I will make use of my African, Kenya citizenship and run away, there I will be King Obama…hmm, that’s what you believe Oblame, just it is a matter of time…we will get you on your ‘own trap’!

Obama’s new motto:

Change you can believe in
promises you can’t.

The best thing about Obama is he is making the press look like fools yet again. It seems no amount of humiliation is enough for journalists.

They now have to deal with either being known to have been tricked by Obama on his position on Fisa, Free trade, Campaign finance reform, a new style of politics etc. ad nauseam or being in league with this outrageous liar who is lieing to the public on a daily basis.

Its kinda funny when you think about it.

They obsess with the “whitey” tape because they think that it is something that they can easily discredit. Too bad by misrepresenting what LJ really said about the tape the only thing the trolls are discrediting is themselves. Maybe they think that by focusing on the tape they will distract attention away from the other 999 pounds of sh*t that Obama brings with him.

It is a well-known fact that domestic violence follows a cycle: the man abuses, attacks, and lashes out at the woman. The woman makes excuses for, and accepts blame… That is a fact.

I know what respect looks and feels like - Senator Obama has shown NONE for Senator Clinton. I agree, and here comes the analogy: Seeing these photos of her with him now reminds me of battered women wearing sunglasses to hide the bruises, and saying, “Oh, he didn’t really mean it.”

Which part of this was hard for Andrew Sullivan to follow? I also know what respect looks and feels like, and Senator Obama has shown none for Senator Clinton. That makes him a cad in my book, and is just one more example of his lack of character, one more reason I will not vote for him. Not if he was the last man standing and put Jesus on his ticket.

Carry on Reverend. You’re pissing that useless tosser Andrew Sullivan off.

Clintons4McCain Launches New Weekly Radio Show
–Empowering Voters Nationwide, New Show to Cover Politics & Issues Ignored by Main Stream Media

Washington, DC – Working to empower voters nationwide, the maverick group of Hillary Clinton supporters, Clintons4McCain, has launched a new weekly radio show. The interactive 60-minute show, originating from cities across the United States, will focus on politics and current affairs ignored by the Main Stream Media. The show will air every Saturday from 5pm to 6pm EST on the BlogTALKRadio network. Anyone with a computer can listen from anywhere in the world at http://www.blogtalkradio.com/clintons4mccain and listeners can take part in the conversation by calling (347) 633-9273.

The Clintons4McCain radio show will include interviews with nationally-known newsmakers and Washington insiders, plus allow disaffected voters to voice their frustrations over the 2008 Democratic primary season. “Our goal is to educate voters, help shape America’s future and to do the job the American media should have been doing all along,” said the group’s founder, Cristi Adkins.

Adkins, featured on the Fox News Channel, CNN, the Washington Post and dozens of other media outlets, will join other concerned voters - Anne Franklin, Robin Carlson and Peter Boykin - as rotating hosts for the show. “People don’t think their voice matters,” said Carlson. “This show will allow voters to express their viewpoints and take a stand against this year’s unjust and fraudulent election process.”

Opponents have accused Clintons4McCain members of being republican operatives, a charge the group finds amusing. “We’re real voters - Democrats, Independents and moderate Republicans” said Anne Franklin. “Clinton is our first preference. If, somehow Hillary pulls off the nomination before August, we’ll no longer be Clintons4McCain, we’ll be Clintons4Hillary!”

Peter Boykin says, “It’s no secret that many Hillary supporters are extremely disgruntled over Barack Obama being “anointed” the Democratic presidential nominee by special interest groups, not elected by American voters. That’s why we’re seeing an ever-growing coalition of groups banding together, fighting to take America back!”

For more information about Clintons4McCain, visit their website at http://www.clintons4mccain.com. Registration for BlogTalkRadio is easy, just go to http://www.blogtalkradio.com/register.aspx.

Appreciate the good work folks are doing over at clintons4mccain!

So now Obama has beaten the living hell out of Hillary and Hillary now says “well he really didn’t mean it”? He has insulted Hillary as a woman and even trys to injure her character, then belittels her husband to boot. But “He really didn’t mean it”. That is the reason I could never vote for Hillary AGAIN. She now supports her friend and democratic partner in campaign (should be crime). She is condoning what that bastard has done to not only HER but to ALL WOMEN. Even though I am a man, I have the greatest respect for women, after all my dear old MOTHER is one. Screw Obama and all those little people who supports him in any shape form or fashion. Obama is the lowest form of human being who has ever run for any public office in this land.

forgive my long response. just kinda got into it.

You know one eye, I learned a long time ago that each of us is on our own unique “life journey”. I can’t speak for Hillary, but knowing what little I know about campaigns, there are soooo many twists and turns before a campaign ever arrives at a decision and even then, it’s subject to change based on voter attitudes, etc. However, there is nothing about Hillary’s actions that strikes me as her perceiving herself as a victim of any kind.

Nope. She’s leading. Watch her. Listen to her words, carefully. They are thoughtful, respectful and full of resolve. The sister is leading…and she’s getting stronger. Her actions say it all.

She’s watching the organizing going on on her behalf. You’d have to be deaf, dumb and blind and live in outer space to not see it, read about it and join in it. It’s a movement reflecting her style of leadership. It’s peaceful, intelligent, respectful, thoughtful, at times humorous, always interesting, and she, like many of us women, pay little attention to the mysoginy that occurs in our lives daily. To focus one’s energy on that only serves as a distraction and well, that never gets us anywhere. So many of us women have learned to tune out the bs and like a laser we hone in on achieving our goal(s).

A couple of months ago many suggested turning off MSM. I did and damn if I’m not hearing, seeing and watching things with an entirely different perspective. I haven’t enjoyed the political game this much…ever!

Try it! You won’t miss a thing. NQ and other PUMA blogs are my daily read. Then I tune into some soft jazz on 365 and read away.

“Make a donation of $15 or more by the end of the month and show your support with a ‘Yes We Can’ car magnet that’s not available anywhere else,” the e-mail said, referring to Obama’s campaign slogan ….” But call right now and we’ll double your order … that’s right! But do these “hapless” supporters deserve pity - or condemnation. Regarding the group, Progressives for Obama, “they are accomplices to” the candidate’s “wrong doing.” Something is clearly wrong in the “progressive” American political culture.. “Because progressives never fought the good fight amongst themselves, they still don’t know what their agenda ought to be, or worse yet, they don’t even

The Gray Lady Takes Aim at Obama
Guest post by Scan

Well, it took long enough, but even the New York Times editorial board, author of such recent classics as the Hillary-bashing “The Low Road to Victory”, has come around to an undeniable conclusion: Obama has been disappointing lately. It was published on July 4th, so some people might have missed “New and Not Improved”:

Now there seems to be a new Barack Obama on the hustings. First, he broke his promise to try to keep both major parties within public-financing limits for the general election. His team explained that, saying he had a grass-roots-based model and that while he was forgoing public money, he also was eschewing gold-plated fund-raisers. These days he’s on a high-roller hunt.

But this seems to be the least of their worries. Like many of us, a bigger concern is his stance (or lack of one) when it comes to FISA:

The new Barack Obama has abandoned his vow to filibuster an electronic wiretapping bill if it includes an immunity clause for telecommunications companies that amounts to a sanctioned cover-up of Mr. Bush’s unlawful eavesdropping after 9/11.

In January, when he was battling for Super Tuesday votes, Mr. Obama said that the 1978 law requiring warrants for wiretapping, and the special court it created, worked. “We can trace, track down and take out terrorists while ensuring that our actions are subject to vigorous oversight and do not undermine the very laws and freedom that we are fighting to defend,” he declared.

Now, he supports the immunity clause as part of what he calls a compromise but actually is a classic, cynical Washington deal that erodes the power of the special court, virtually eliminates “vigorous oversight” and allows more warrantless eavesdropping than ever.

If there’s one thing that is obvious in 2008, it’s that our country is ready for a unapologetic Democrat. Not a triangulating politician, not Republican-lite, not a moderate step up from Bush…a Democrat. It is on that front that Obama is failing, and it spells trouble if not corrected. We have to assume that the Republican base will rally around McCain no matter what by the time Rush and the Fox News crew have done their dirty work, so risking an unmotivated progressive base is a big mistake. Yet that is exactly what the past couple of weeks have wrought at this point in the game.

It continues:

The Barack Obama of the primary season used to brag that he would stand before interest groups and tell them tough truths. The new Mr. Obama tells evangelical Christians that he wants to expand President Bush’s policy of funneling public money for social spending to religious-based organizations — a policy that violates the separation of church and state and turns a government function into a charitable donation.

On top of these perplexing shifts in position, we find ourselves disagreeing powerfully with Mr. Obama on two other issues: the death penalty and gun control.

You get the picture. But here’s the kicker:

We are not shocked when a candidate moves to the center for the general election. But Mr. Obama’s shifts are striking because he was the candidate who proposed to change the face of politics, the man of passionate convictions who did not play old political games.

Welcome, Times editorial board, to the reality that, to many of us, has been obvious for quite a while. Barack Obama is a talented Democratic politician, but he sure ain’t the transcendent progressive idealist that was described in Axelrod’s brochure. Maybe the fog of hope simply obscured the clear warning signs, but even if this is understandable for some of his newly-disillusioned grassroots supporters, it’s not a good enough excuse for the press not doing their job when it mattered. Whatever the case, the free ride from certain influential members of the mainstream media may be coming to a close.

And somewhere, Hillary is laughing.

George Soros is our biggest problem and needs to be exposed for the socialist that he is.

Soros’s latest hostile takeover target is the Democratic Party, and over the past eight years, Soros and a gang of fellow billionaires have come pretty close to achieving their goal. Starting soon after George W. Bush’s inauguration as President in early 2001, Soros poured a reported $18 million into passage of the McCain-Feingold campaign finance law (Soros has continued to be a major donor to McCain’s Reform Institute), which placed a cap on “soft money” donations to the political parties, but left open a loophole, allowing nominally independent groups, referred to as “527s,” to take unlimited donations. Soros began buying up the first generation of 527s, including outfits like MoveOn, ACT (America Coming Together), and Media Matters. Soros also played a pivotal role in the 2004 candidacy of Howard Dean, who bombed as a Presidential candidate, but was rewarded for his access to Soros loot with the chairmanship of the Democratic National Committee, after John Kerry’s loss to George Bush in November 2004.

From that perch, Howard Dean waged a ruthless campaign against candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton in the 2008 primary elections–in tandem with Soros’s Democracy Alliance, a secretive billionaires club, that pooled its money to take over and run a “vast left-wing conspiracy” of 527s, PACs, and think tanks, that has replaced any Democratic Party constituency organization. In the meantime, Soros found his legion of honest Bush-haters, in groups like MoveOn and ACT, to be useful tools in his further grimy speculative binges. Following the Kerry defeat, MoveOn, the Center for American Progress, and other progressive groups on the Soros dole, targeted Vice President Dick Cheney and Halliburton, the giant oil and defense contractor that was profitting mightily off Bush and Cheney’s Iraq imperial misadventure.

Obviously Soros found a devoted socialist in Howard Dean. It seems that Dean found the same thing in Obama.

Wow! All of the pieces are coming together. Great read. I only wish I would have bought lots of Halliburton stock when he was!

My god man, what did we do before the internet? I guess we had a more honest and forthright MSM then. At least I want to believe that.

I am betting that McCain’s VP will be Charlie Crist
and here what Crist bring to the table.

Passed: Property Tax Reform Reduce property taxes by doubling homestead exemption.

Passed: Crist and Cabinet members voted 3-1 to overhaul the state’s Jim Crow-era system through the ranks of convicted felons already released from prison — which the state estimates at 628,000 — to identify those now suddenly eligible to get their civil rights back.

Passed: Cover Florida: $150 a month plan for 3.8 million uninsured. (Mar 2008)

Passed: Appropriate $100 million to continue to restore Everglades. (Mar 2007)

Passed:$200M package for solar, wind, & biofuel from citrus. (Mar 2008)
Propose almost $70 million on alternative energy development. (Mar 2007)

Governor Charlie Crist today announced that the Florida’s Turnpike Turkey Lake Service Plaza gas station has become the first station in Central Florida to offer E85 (ethanol) for sale to the motoring public.

My little ditty to Obama trolls everywhere (sung to the children’s song “I’m A Little Teapot”):

I’m a little Obamatroll, short and stout
Here’s where my brains should be, they all fell out
When I read No Quarter, I stomp my feet and pout
YOU MUST DRINK THE KOOL-AID you’ll hear me loudly shout

I’m a clever Obamatroll, yes it’s true
Here’s an example of what I can do
I can blame it all on Hillary and Bill
I can be Obama’s clever little shill

The problem with speaking out against sexist behavior or flat-out misogyny is that critics will howl that it’s all in your head. It’s the woman’s fault [she's overly sensitive, too thin skinned]. Or if sexist based reporting does exist, the slight or insult is minor in nature and/or unintentional. The “unintentional” bit always makes me laugh because the attitude is so ingrained in the culture–women are chronic complainers and cry babies.

Remember when Chris Matthews was criticized earlier this year for “inartful” comments, and then David Shuster made his pimping remark in regards to Chelsea? The obligatory “public” apologies were made, but I read behind the scenes there was much grumbling that women were malicious harpies in making those complaints. How dare “they” [women in general] make an issue out of stray comments that could ruin a man’s career?

Yes, how dare we be outraged? How dare we spit on the notion that we’re going through the 5 stages of grief over the primary results, that the presumptive nominee is a fraud as is the DNC, and that “acceptance” is not in our vocabulary.

We dare with a collective growl. And the public is beginning to notice.

So, Rev. Amy, I think you should flash that dubious award with great pride. It means you’re being heard.

what is going on with the DNC. I don’t know how they can Nominate Obama now. He has flip flopped worse than kerry did. There is no way he is going to win now. I mean who would believe a word comming out of his mouth. At least Bush keeped consistant, this guy looks like a fish out of water, its insane.

NARAL- uggh they piss me off so much I could spit!
Instead of choking on their Nobama endorsement after his comment on mental distress and disowning him- they cover for him and make excuses. Talk about battered woman syndrome.

I agree with Hillary Clinton- abortion should be safe, legal, and RARE. Where are the democrats in getting safe effective birth control into the hands of women who need it? It is 2008. No woman in this country should be pregnant if she doesn’t want to be. Of course- they always respond with rape and incest. Well that begs the question- why the hell is there so much violence against women and children in this country? Why is it tolerated? What are the democrats doing about it besides using it as a voting issue to keep us women in line?

What really breaks my heart is that black women would have gained so much by a Hillary presidency. Black women and their children are more at risk of violence, poverty, and disease. Black women suffer discrimination on two fronts- gender and race- in pay, employment, education, and decent housing. Black women had the most to gain by a Hillary presidency, yet a majority voted against their own interests. Breaks my heart.

God I get such a huge kick out of all these Operation Chaos idiots who pretend they’re Democrats and act like they’re so insulted about Obama having won the Democratic nomination. Too funny: The shrillness, the mock indignation and the Obama-violated-all-women nonsense. It’s all so over cooked and phoney sounding.

After 8 years of profound incompetence and lies and manipulation from one of the worst Presidents in the history of the U.S. we’re supposed to believe that there’s this bad ass movement out there to tear down Obama in favor of John McCain? Really now. You dittoheads embarrass yourselves.

I’m not giving Obama a free ride, but I do want to give him a chance. He’s deserving of at least that much no?
