The Bomb of Pearl Harbor?

Dude. You were raised in Hawaii. Honolulu to be precise. Did you fail to visit Pearl Harbor? WTF??? I thought folks were ginning up an internet goof when word started circulating that you told an audience about “THE BOMB THAT FELL ON PEARL HARBOR.” Here’s the quote:

“…..Throughout our history, America’s confronted constantly evolving danger, from the oppression of an empire, to the lawlessness of the frontier, from the bomb that fell on Pearl Harbor, to the threat of nuclear annihilation. Americans have adapted to the threats posed by an ever-changing world. “

And here’s the YouTube:

First you get confused about the number of states (correct answer, 50, not 58). But this?

There were lots of bombs. Torpedos too. There was one bomb that obliterated the USS Arizona. But it was preceded and succeeded by hundreds of other bombs. Buy the man, World War II for Dummies or something. Maybe we can rename it, WW II So That Even Barry Obama Understands. Of course, we then have to hope–HOPE I SAY–that he takes time to read.

Larry, what did Obama mean when he said…

Obama: “We cannot continue to rely on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we’ve set. We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

here is one of the pieces on it?

Sorry, great piece, we all know it was not just one bomb…He does not think before he speaks…

Comment by Johnny at Work | 2008-07-18 23:23:45

The big problem with this is Obama was not speaking ad lib… This was a PREPARED SPEECH he read from a teleprompter.

Not only did the O’boy flub a major time in US History, his Obot speech writers flubbed it also…

Only if he’s too stupid to be President.

This country can’t afford another Ivy League speech monkey.

Comment by steven Mather | 2008-07-19 12:00:18

Obama’s unsuitability for the presidency rests on more serious issues than a tiny flub in a speech. I have a daily calendar of Bush’s speech flubs. We all make them. It’s fun to jibe Obama, because he has been blown up to be a great speaker, and he is only quite good when using a teleprompter, but this is a non-issue.

Even Yaz can have a point sometimes. A broken clock is right two times a day.

HELLO!

It’s that he didn’t catch it.

That’s the dumbass part.

He’s just another speech monkey.

Words do mean something.

Like if you’re too stupid to speak and think at the same time.

America’s confronted constantly evolving danger, from the oppression of an empire, to the lawlessness of the frontier,

This is poorly worded. It is disjointed and vague. It looks like a “fill in the blank sentence” where undescriptive nouns were sprinkled it.

Comment by chris | 2008-07-19 09:43:42

Maybe it was just an outline and he had to fill in and ad lib. We know how good he is a that! NOT. His command of facts off the top of his head is non-existent which makes me question his ability for quick thinking in a crisis. Another reason I do not want him as my President. He’d have to have a baby sitter 24/7 and who the hell knows who that might be. I’m scared to even think about it.

Comment by Ellen D | 2008-07-19 10:28:00

Maybe it was a typo on the teleprompter. Perhaps there may be more errors in the future which he will dutifully read without thinking. Great plan Republicans - it wouldn’t have worked for Hillary.

Neither he nor his puppeteers have judgment to even give a proper speech in a proper place.

I, too, was hoping not to have to switch off the set as was the case with W. It’s terrible, the image the message, the background, stinky is despicable, a true horror. I now find that listening to W speak is somewhat comforting and rational. Unbelievable.

Once again, the Messiah proved with his ignorance that his faux holiness, like his moronic drones and trolls, is a complete, blubbering idiot. He truly is a worthy successor to the current cretin occupying the White House.

Comment by FloridaDem | 2008-07-19 09:29:11

I like your wording, Joe.

While the complete blubbering idiot doesn’t mangle the language half as badly as Dubya does, he is surprisingly BAD for someone who supposedly graduated with honors, huh?

Now, that’s the ONLY ‘nice’ thing you’ll ever hear me say about Osnotma.

Comment by fif | 2008-07-19 10:18:11

That’s the only reason there is this ridiculous and disproportionate swooning over very pompous speech he makes. We have had to endure almost 8 years of a president who can’t put a sentence together, so ANYONE else looks articulate. I have never found BO’s speeches interesting or original. And without a teleprompter, as in the debates, he is awful, stumbling, hemming and hawing.

Comment by georgiapeach | 2008-07-19 10:32:50

If Dubya slowed his speech patterns down with all the um, uuuuhhhhhh’s, and and and stutters, he might not mangle it as badly either.

Comment by Steve | 2008-07-19 06:17:11

What makes matters worse is that it was a speech, written on paper, projected on teleprompters. So, someone did a poor job upfront and he did a poor job, reading it out.

I mean, have you listened to the tape? This guy arrogantly claims that he gives ’some darn/pretty good speeches’, but so far I still wait for a good speech, delivered in a compelling way.

Comment by MEchelle Hates America! | 2008-07-19 07:37:29

Obama Doesn’t Understand Role of Joint Chiefs: Will MSM Take Note?
By Mark Finkelstein (Bio | Archive)
July 14, 2008 - 17:35 ET

A couple days ago at the gym, listening to a Hugh Hewitt podcast and perhaps not paying as much attention as I should have while pedaling away, I heard Hugh mention that Barack Obama doesn’t understand the role of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. What was Hugh referring to? As the British would say: the penny just dropped. A few minutes ago, CNN’s Situation Room played a clip of Obama saying this about his plan for Iraq:

BARACK OBAMA: I’m going to call in the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and give them a new mission, and that is to bring the war in Iraq to a close. We are going to get out.

There’s only one problem. The Joint Chiefs of Staff does not have operational command of U.S. military forces. That authority resides in the commanders of the various Unified Combatant Commands. CENTCOM is the command with responsibility for Iraq [and 26 other countries including Afghanistan and Pakistan]. Earlier this month, the Senate confirmed Pres. Bush’s appointment of Gen. David Petraeus as CENTCOM commander. Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno is the new US commander for Iraq, replacing Gen. Petraeus. Those are the people, along with the Secretary of Defense, to whom the orders Obama spoke of would be issued.

View video here.

Dean Barnett, Hugh’s former colleague, now a Weekly Standard contributor, has written about the chain of command and Obama’s gaffe in detail: Obama Ignorance Watch: What Do the Joint Chiefs Really Do?

During the segment I saw, CNN never noted this troubling lack of knowledge on the part of the man who would be Commander-in-Chief. Will any other MSM outlets call attention to it?

(BTW, Excellent publication)

Blackwater Seeps into the Campaign by Jeremy Scahill, posted online 3/18/08.

In February 2007, Obama introduced contractor reform and oversight legislation that has become the Democrats’ major plan in the Congress.

Scahill says legislation would give private military industry tremendous PR victory. The companies could finally claim that legally accountable structure governed their operations, yet they would be well aware that such legislation would be nearly impossible to enforce. Perhaps that is why industry has passionately backed this approach” Scahill.

I know it’s hard to get decent coverage of Obama, but we need to try to bring better sources for these stories than turning this site into a World Nut Daily dumping ground.

This is nothing new Obama’s been saying and I’ve been scaring college kids for months now telling them that Obama has plans for MANDATORY PUBLIC SERVICE for kids. He also has plans for us over-50’s, too!

Chicago Tribune covered the Colorado July 2 speech including the “civilian national security force” without the histrionic claims of the WND hype.

Obama is bad enough without the squealing of the “Amero” nuts. We don’t need dubious sources and hysteria.

http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/chi-obama-national-servicejul03,0,5754842.story

Obama had outlined many of the proposals offered Wednesday during appearances in Iowa last December.

Goals set for students

“We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,” he said Wednesday. “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.”

He said he would make federal assistance conditional on school districts establishing service programs and set the goal of 50 hours of service a year for middle school and high school students.

For college students, Obama would set the goal at 100 hours of service a year and create a $4,000 annual tax credit for college students tied to that level of service.

Comment by onlylewis | 2008-07-19 10:01:16

Sounds like a remake of the “Young Communist” groups from back in the day. They were required to join or face punishment. What is in store for us if he is elected puts that in force and uses socialized medicine to do away with the elderly that are deemed not useful by the admin.

Comment by Mary | 2008-07-19 10:31:30

100 hours for 4000. - that’s 40.00 per hour for untrained service. Sounds like more government wasteful spending to me. How could you even accomplish anything with just 100 hours of service. It would take that long to train someone unless they would be filing or something menial - and if it was in a government agency - what access would they be allowed to have for just 100 hours of work.

Comment by Kelly | 2008-07-19 14:55:13

Sounds bad. If this is a refundable credit- that is worth $40 an hour.

If it is a credit against tax liability- pretty useless because not many college students have a bottom line tax lability of $4000 after exemption and standard deduction.

Comment by gregoryp | 2008-07-18 23:20:37

That sounds blatantly unconstitutional to me. Sounds more like an occupying force to keep us all in line. The fathers of this country are turning over in their graves right now. We are on the fast track to becoming a totalitarian society instead of a society that relishes freedom and individuality. Obama is most certainly Bush’s 3rd term instead of McCain. Remember, everything that Obama says about his opposition is what he really is.

Comment by 30yrdem-not any more | 2008-07-18 23:33:16

I know this is a few days old but Obama’s camp and some news scrubbed it from his transcripts, I don’t think the speech was put up on his site like they always are…People can laugh but ask someone who lived in Germany years ago if they trusted Hitler, didn’t they have any clues of what was going on, they will tell you yes, but things would always be explained away.. no I am not saying, but what the hell does he mean by “a civilian national security force” :?:

The second link has video of him saying it.

Comment by Chick | 2008-07-18 23:40:21

Don’t mean to be having a tete a tete, but my mother-in-law was a member of the Hitler youth and there is a lot more to it then has been made public. I don’t know why it is not out there, but there were financial benefits that drew people to Hitler that never made it to the press. The youth were a lot like the Obama cultist to a degree, they were more of a social club, than a militant group as they are portrayed. You have to remember you are dealing with a lot bad memories for people and it is hard to get out the truth. It is shameful for many, in retrospect.

This is nothing new. Obama has ALWAYS said he’s gonna require mandatory public service. And not just for kids.

I’ve been shocking the antiwar youth with this for months. Before Obama became the media darling there were journalists who wrote this up at length…. I saved the articles, if I can dig them up….one was by a very left-wing journalist, another was by a Colorado journalist. I think they were written in 2007, if anyone wants to dig them up before I do…sorry I can’t remember their names…

Comment by Zee | 2008-07-19 09:09:20

Obama lectures on the Constitution at a law school, he should know that he can not Constitutionally create “a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well-funded.” as our military and if he doesn’t, he needs a tutor because Article I, Section 8 clearly states that CONGRESS, and only CONGRESS has the authority to “raise and support Armies” and a “strong civilian national security force” is a euphemism for another army.

It also states that CONGRESS calls forth the Militia to execute the Laws of the Union, suppressing Insurrections and repel Invasion. And Amendment 2 states that “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. ”

Look up the definition of “militia” - it is a citizen army not an SS “national security force”. The only way Obama can get his personal army is to flout the Constitution or persuade Congress to create one for him. So those down ticket votes are looking even more important right now.

No excuse — the bum grew up in Hawaii.

However, apparently he did not hang around local Hawaiians — or people who lived through the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

But Honolulu is not that far from Pearl Harbor — not far at all. For dumb Obamabutts — Pearl Harbor is on the same side of the SAME island as Honolulu.

Did one of the speech writers get Japan and Hawaii mixed up?

Obama seems to read the speeches without engaging his brain.

We do not need another dumb ass in the white house — Obama has no common sense, compassion, empathy or logic in order to make sound judgment and well reasoned decisions.

Here’s the GOP ad — Obama’s words — with scenes from Tora Tora in the background or a window on the screen. Then a fly over of the Arizona memorial — which nearly all school children in Hawaii visit at least once on a school trip.

57 States, ONE bomb fell on Pearl Harbor. What a dumb ass. No excuse for this sort of grade school error.

He wants to make America just like Chicago. If he’s so great how come there are so many people in Illinois who hope he wins just so they don’t have to keep him themselves?

Very good comment, Uppity. I have often wondered, if Obama wins how many of these losers will he bring with him? As an Illinois resident, I am 100% anti-Obama, I do however admit that a part of me thinks that it will be nice to have more people foot the bill, as they say. How much more can Illinoisans pay. You can’t get blood from a stone. Does the host complain when the parasite seeks out new blood?

I live in Chicago.. it’s just the black areas that are war zones.. the rest of the city is quite normal.

Not really Vince. I live in a sleepy lil burb. Well it was sleepy till 5 women were gunned down in the local Lane Bryant. Crime has risen ten-fold in most areas. It’s not really all that safe to go to freakin Burger King anymore. Read the paper my man.

If you want to call what happened in that store typical then I can’t stop you.

I say it was exceptional, and not an indicator of the typical crime enviroment.

Of course it wasn’t typical. However crime does seem to be on the rise and it’s not just “the black areas” that are affected by it. If you want to believe all the crime is in “black areas” then you believe what you want to believe, but the statistics say otherwise.

He needs to redo his college years. This time maybe he can try it drug-free. After all, how can you really learn anything if you are using drugs. By his own admission, we all know he did.

It really looks like Obama really does not know our country’s history…this is just stupid, what grade did we all lean this in?

He could have a least watch a movie about it or something….no way can he get in the oval office…

Comment by gregoryp | 2008-07-18 23:26:06

Or he could have watched one of the 100 movies about that catastrophic event. Maybe we can blame it on him getting brainwashed in Indonesia instead of learning proper things; however, he went to prep school here and went to college here. As far as I know American history is still required. He is just a freaking moron. Kind of the living embodiment of a society that frowns upon people who actually have ability and rewards those who are dumb as a box of rocks.

You know how when you are reading something and it doesn’t sound right and you stop and correct it in your mind before you say it…did he not know it was wrong when he said it…I can’t believe this crap!

Comment by jadwiga | 2008-07-19 08:44:31

I was guessing that he wanted to talk about Hiroshima/Nagasaki and corrected himself since those bombs were not against us.
But I might be crediting him for more than he deserves.

That is because the frontal lope of BO’s brain is cooked from smoking crack. His nature is to become “numb” under stress. He does not think well, or at all, when required to be fast on his feet.

We all saw this in the debates. When BO was getting his ass handed to him, all he did was raise his voice and yell, which is an emotional response to an intellectual problem. BO is full of brain farts but his reaction to pressure is predictable.
