So these must be the “Green Jobs” Barack Obama is thinking about. A couple of hundred thousand consultants. Wonderful. It’s a great way to hire and boost the income of friends and family though. That doesn’t include You, suckers. Just so you know.
While most Americans find that what once was their disposable income is now used to barely feed their families with whatever is on “special” this week at the supermarket (healthy or not), the Democratic Party “of The People” is defining other priorities for them. What will the DNC do for the American people at the convention? Why they are going to make sure that Prissy Barack Obama has his arugula, I am sure. But they won’t stop there. No sir.
They have hired a Director Of Greening. No kidding. That’s the title. You can’t make this shit up.
What’s environmental activist Andrea Robinson’s job as Director of Greening, you ask?
Robinson will work to find ways to make the preparation and conducting of the convention as environmentally friendly as possible, said Leah Daughtry, the Democratic National Convention Committee chief executive, speaking at the committee’s third “Convention Conversations” forum in Boulder.

Whatever it means, Andrea can’t do this job all by herself. No sir. She has hired a firm to serve as Official Carbon Advisor to:
“measure the greenhouse-gas emissions of every placard, every plane trip, every appetizer prepared and every coffee cup tossed.”
No offense, DNC, but no wonder you can’t keep any money in your coffers.
I wonder if this woman was involved in the legislation that phases out all incandescent lighting by 2012, thus facilitating as many migraines and epileptic seizures as possible. You know about those fluorescent lighting replacements don’t you? They aren’t quite finished yet folks, as in “back to the drawing board, please”. They contain mercury which can cause brain, kidney and liver damage. Then there are those folks who prefer not to burn their homes down with halogens, but ah, screw them too. Just so you know: if you break a fluorescent curly bulb you are supposed to evacuate the entire room for 15 minutes and close off any ventilation. Bet you didn’t know that huh? I threw one out before I found this out. How the hell did I know that the environmentalists are encouraging me to use something that’s hazardous to my and everyone else’s health? I thought they were supposed to be protecting me. Anyways, you should know that if you live in an apartment, you must call down to maintenance to turn off the air conditioning if you break one of those bulbs. Good luck with that. *The EPA has a whole warning page about these bulbs folks. You would think that all of these environmental “consultants” would first insist that these replacement bulbs we will be REQUIRED to use would at least be safe to humans. But nahhhhhhh. It seems like a fair tradeoff for these nutballs, right? And they will look great in the family heirloon chandeliers! Why I just BET Michelle Obama will be sticking those ugly yellow-lighting little bastards in HER chandelier over at the Hyde Park homestead, don’t you? I wonder what the Director Of Greening thinks about all of this?

Back to the Greening of the Convention, I know that this makes you all feel a lot better economically. I know it makes you feel much more secure knowing that the Democratic Party is in tune with your most pressing needs at this time. They want you to know they Care. I know that having a Green Convention will help you to fill up the tank, catch up on last month’s bills and make you feel included along with the left-cliff radical whackjobs who are sponsoring The Incandescent One. (We will have to change that to the Flourescent One in 2012).

The Green Jobs Barack is talking about is the pie in the sky idea that wind and solar can power our economy and move are cars, that the government is going to throw out of work the coal miners and they will migrate into solar cell technician jobs and make solar cells and windmills, jobs Obama says “cannot be outsourced”, but of course can quite easily and for the technicians they won’t be “found” so we need immigration “reform”, and so on.
The convention folks are just elite green capitalists who know how to milk a trend.

Just a quick pause in all this rush to greening. There are two historical periods that we should take note of. I would recommend that people should google them and THINK about.

If you really want to to worry about something, worry about the rapidly diminishing fresh water tables for one. Why do you think China built that monsterous dam? Their water table is just 65% of what it was in 1950.
Or try the state of our world fisheries which provide 90% of the protien that humans consume. According to NOAH, 90% of the large ocean fish we consume are gone. And further state that of the 17 major world fisheries, 13 are fished out beyond recovery.
It took all of human history to 1950 for the population to reach 2.5 billion. In the last 50yrs it has nealy trebled to 7.1!

After going to their website and checking some of the names connected, I found that one name included the word “Republican” in his biography and another name mentioned “Margaret Thatcher” in his. This (to me, at least) suggests that the “Institute” is NOT as “[f]ree from affiliation to any corporation or political party” as it claims to be.
This isn’t true. The article has not been peer reviewed. Anyone who had actually bothered to READ it would have noticed this, as it says point blank on the first page it is not peer reviewed:

A company associated with Hillary Clinton’s top presidential campaign advance staff has purchased a website domain that hints of a 2012 presidential bid for the vanquished senator from New York.
HRC2012.com was bought by the Markham Group on June 8, according to whois.com
Greg Hale of the Markham Group served as a key advance aide to Sen. Clinton, organizing political events for the campaign. The Markham website calls him the “lead consultant for advance and visual messaging.” Partners Paul Neaville and Robert McClarty (the son of former White House chief of staff Thomas “Mack” McClarty) also worked on Clinton’s advance team. According to whois.com, the site was registered by Todd Wilder, a longtime Democratic operative from Florida.

Yikes, we need people to recognize that community gardens are an option– good exercise and healthier food.
I believe in trying to be green as a way of life. It’s a personal choice for me. Yes, there is much to be done to improve light bulbs and the like, but we need to reduce our dependency on non-renewable resources and protect the environment.
But what bo is doing is politics, pure and simple. He has voted for legislation to reduce restrictions on polluting for nuclear facilities and big oil companies. He has voted to give nuclear facilities billions in taxpayer subsidies and in addition, told them that any spills would be cleaned up at the taxpayer’s expense. Some incentive to keep it clean, now isn’t it?
This is a sideshow attraction. Smoke and mirrors. He’s just trying to fool environmentalists into thinking he is there friend. Bamboozling them.

I appreciate what you are saying and I actually do NOT disagree with you. But when it comes to CFL’s we aren’t talking “needs improvement”. We are talking Health Hazard. Fix one thing, break another. Wouldn’t it be smarter and more caring of living things if we improved those bulbs BEFORE we made them mandatory??
You are right on with Obama. How about the legislation he wrote on radiation leaks? The people begged him to do something about Exelon. All they wanted was to make it mandatory for exelon to notify them if there’s a leak. By the time Barky was done, the legislation was worthless. He changed it so that Exelon can “volunatarily” notify the people in the event of a leak. Of course that 100k his buddy Frank Clark (board of directors) bundled for his race didn’t influence him at all I’m sure. And of course the fact that exelon itself is one of his top ten contributors means nothing too. After all, he doesn’t take money from lobbyists…..
Yeah, it’s not perfect. It’s my understanding that fluorescent bulbs have always contained mercury, so over the years many have gone into landfills. Here we are required to take all spent fluorescent bulbs to a recycling facility and pay 15 cents per bulb for proper disposal. I don’t mind. But in Europe, the disposal fee is included in the price of the bulb, and the manufacturers are required to take care of recycling. That would be the better short term solution. Long term solution being research and production of safer bulbs. Clinton wants to word for R&D/clean energy jobs (among other things) to get the economy going, people working, and move the country toward energy self-sufficiency.
With bo, doubt American companies would ever be required to be responsible for the products they produce… actually, bo pushed for legislation to make it harder to sue companies for products that result in injury. So, he most certainly is pro big business/big profits, and would not likely back a plan such as the one in Europe.
And as you point out, he doesn’t give a rat’s ass about the environment or if people start glowing in the dark from radiation… probably considers it a plus, ’cause then we wouldn’t need CFs!
