Alice and Don, Buy a Clue

Too bad the latest letter from two top Democratic National Committee officials is not an imaginary missive from a Hollywood comedy. Under those circumstances the bullshit spewed by Don Fowler and Alice Germond might be funny. But they are dead serious in writing the following:

It is time for all Democrats, supporters of Senator Clinton and all other contenders for the nomination, to stand with him to secure his election and the election of Democrats at all levels of competition.

I must confess a bit of fatigue and irritation with people who continue to carp, complain, and criticize the results of the primary and lay down conditions for their support. The Los Angeles Lakers didn’t establish conditions to recognize the Boston Celtics as NBA Champions; Roger Federer did not demand concessions before recognizing that Rafael Nadal defeated him at Wimbledon.

It is time to act in a mature and resourceful fashion. It’s time to put the primaries behind us. It’s time to support Barack Obama without conditions or demands.

Don, Alice, you guys obviously don’t get out much and certainly do not know anything about sports. The competition between the Lakers and Celtics in basketball and Federer and Nadal in tennis involved keeping tabs of the score.
They actually earned their victories. They had to score the points. They did not get the title awarded to them by Super Delegates. So cut the horseshit!

Here are the facts. Hillary won more delegates in elections than did Barack. Barack won more delegates in caucuses–events that are not Democratic because only a small fraction of eligible voters can participate in them. Neither Hillary nor Barack won enough delegates to secure the nomination. Both had to look to the Super Delegates to put them over the top.

So stop kidding yourself and pushing the ridiculous notion that Barack “won” in the same sense that a championship team, thru its own effort, earns a trophy. Barack got a gift.

Our beef is that when it comes to a general election, Hillary, who actually won more votes in real elections than Barack, is a much better candidate and has a much better chance of beating McCain. Just because you two clowns want to close your eyes and believe in Barack’s “Yes we can nonsense,” well, that is your right.

But you have no right to insult or disparage those of us who believe Barack is a lightweight, an empty suit, and an old style Chicago politician who has gotten ahead by hanging out with corrupt businessmen and other unsavory characters. Sorry, but that’s the kind of change I am not willing to believe or accept.

Don Fowler and Alice Germand, please get over it.

If it’s money you need, scrap Obama’s stadium to save $3 million, and convince him to opt back into public financing, he’ll get some public dollars and won’t soak up so many funds that could go to House and Senate races.

Comment by Jimbus | 2008-07-19 18:57:10

Anyone know the numbers on Hillary’s debt?

Comment by nancysabet | 2008-07-19 19:36:16

Ithink they say it was $6 mi.
But, I just got a response to my letter from Don Fowler also. It was just ridiculous and stupid. These guys don’t want to be challenged al all for what they have done to our party to us and to Hillary. Shame on you Don!

Comment by JoseyJ | 2008-07-19 19:57:22

The Dem Party via Brazile said they didn’t need us. But apparently, they need our money.
They may get some from me when Obama and his campaign confess their involvement and silence while Obamabots accused the Clintons of racism.

Comment by Jack | 2008-07-19 23:10:39

It’s time to support Barack Obama without conditions or demands.

This emphasizes my point. These fakes aren’t talking about the past, but the future. The condition they complain about is “the rules.” The demand they complain about is “to follow the rules.”

Comment by kenoshaMarge | 2008-07-20 05:16:35

If Fowl Fowler and Germond believed in democracy they would never say “it’s time to support Obama without conditions of demands.”

Who the hell do they think they’re talking to? Children? Servants? Lesser beings?

Their arrogance, condescension and stupidity is a very good indication of why so few Democrats have made it into the White House.

Scolding voters is a new technique in getting voters to vote for your candidate. A dumb technique IMHO!

It’s even a little more enjoyable if you rip the mailing contents into itty bitty pieces and enclose them in the envelope. I know, I am being childish. But, gosh, what was that primary about, anyway? After the RBC decision (I drove many hours to protest) and the likes of Donna B and Howard D, I’ve had it with MY democratic party. They went beyond childish!! NO BO for me!!!(He’s not any way qualified for the job!)

JoseyJ, you captured my feelings entirely — that the O campaign should confess its involvement and silence while O’bots accused the Clintons (and by extension, all of us) of racism. One exception: even if they did that, I’m not sending them any money. Money for down-ticket Dems? Absolutely. But money for the campaign of a corrupt Chicago pol? Never. Let him tap his Rezko network.

Larry, I got a different feeling about this. I think the “hint”, the implication here, is that they are not talking about caucuses, but the roll call vote. They don’t want a roll call vote. The Nadal analogy fits that better. They believe Obama already “one”. But Obama hasn’t. By rules no one has yet until that vote, the game isn’t over. They are trying to play Hillary as if she were like Nadal after the final point, then complaining he doesn’t get to hold up the trophy.

Don and Co. won’t acknowledge St. Obama purposely divided the party - with assistance (and silence) from the Dem Party leadership!
The narrative has been set as Obama desired: the Clintons are “racists.”
All this WHILE Obama was attending a race-baiting hatemongering church!

Comment by Factcheck2 | 2008-07-19 23:48:48

This letter appears to have been written by Donna Brazile. Can’t prove it but compare the tone to her op-ed in the Wash Post after the committee stripped Florida of its delegates. (Click on my name for more about her and Rove and this election.)

Comment by Linda C. | 2008-07-20 07:54:43

No it wasn’t “written by Donna Brazile”, but they get together and decide the tactic they are going to use then parrot each other. It has been used by the RNC for years and years. However, it is a failure of their imagination to understand that we are not republicans for a reason. Demands to “fall in line” worked for Republicans. It has and never will work for Democrats.

Even though there are men and women supporting Senator Clinton, the sports analogy never sets very well especially with women even they are sports minded.

Don and Alice — Tell Obama you are not going to pay for the 76,000 seat stadium for his Vanity Acceptance Speech if you have the balls. And how dare you call us immature? Are we immature because we didn’t fall for the fraud nominee you forced on us? It’s you guys who are immature–you thought you would pick the empty suit for an easy life and now he has turned into the nominee from Hell — Told you so ha ha

Comment by DAB | 2008-07-20 05:22:45

I agree — if you want to convince someone to get on your side, you should address their grievances. The last thing you should do is tell them “To just grow up!” These guys need a crash course in human psychology.

They said they didn’t need us, so they should just “GET OVER IT”!

(HOPE THEY DON’T FEEL INSULTED)

Jeez,”fatigue and irritation”. Poor Alice and Don
(Although “I” would indicate just one of them wrote the letter– but seeing as dems can’t count any better than repubs–.. Then again, perhaps they were using the royal “we” in sort of an inverse, backasswards manner– as befits our ex-party.)
Anyway, A and D, a lot of us out here kind of take the presidency more seriously than we do the Lakers.
And Marion Jones gave up her gold medals cause she did performance enhancing drugs. And I LIKE Marion Jones. I don’t like Obama, at all. What penalty does he get for cheating, oh sports analogy spewing ones?

Alice - You want irritation and fatigue?

You’ve not seen anything yet.

Comment by Deke | 2008-07-20 14:04:06

The more and more stench I see emanating from the DNC and the Obama campaign just confirms my suspicions about the true nature of 21st century politics. We are just pawns and the powers to be decide which party and candidates turn it is to have power. In a time when the democratic party should be a progressive populist party in the mold of FDR the powers to be are afraid of anyone with a degree of independence, thats how we wound up with Obama and the reason why McCain is getting hardly any press. Obama’s true allegiance is to the money and corporate class just like Bush.

Comment by Obama is a bum | 2008-07-19 18:46:58

If these two idiots want to equate a sporting event to this primary then they should choose the 1972 Olympic basketball championship game of USA vs. Russia. The game was rigged where the officials gave Russia 3 chances to win. The players from the US refused to attend the medal ceremony and to this day have refused to accept their silver medals.

“It’s time to support Barack Obama without conditions or demands.”

I demand Obama withdraw from the race due to ineptitude and a flawed process. That condition is non-negotiable.

Perfect example. I watched that game. I was eleven years old and still naively believe in the ideals the Olympics claims to represent. After watching as the officials handed the gold medal to the Russians I no longer cared for the Olympics.

The feeling I have after this hellish primary is exactly the same. The corruption and cheating of the DNC and obama have completely alienated me from the dems. I am no longer a Democrat and now I despise the only party I ever belonged to.

Are not his plans for Afghanistan to “send in more troops”….is that not what we refer to as a SURGE?

Stole it right out from under McCain when ya think about it…

Comment by sarainitaly | 2008-07-19 18:51:47

Since when does the Democratic party own it’s members? Since when is it required that if you vote or support one democratic candidate you HAVE to support all of the candidates?

I have voted for Clinton twice, Gore and Kerry, and am a Hillary Clinton supporter, but that does NOT mean that the friggin Democratic Party OWNS me, or my vote.

It is my American right to vote for who I feel is the best person for the job. It is the right, and DUTY of every American to vote for the person they feel is the best for the job and who represents who they want in the White House.

I, nor any American, OWES the Democratic Party full support of a flip flopping, lying, empty suit who has not accomplished ANYTHING, has changed jobs every two years, has served 146 days in the US senate, worked 55 days a year in the IL senate, served communities that were devestated by poverty, partly due to the fault of Obama’s good buddy, hangs out with Anti-American ministers and terrorists, and never once spoke out and defended the Former First Lady and Senator from New York against the sexist attacks from the media and his supporters.

What the frick has Obama EVER accomplished that makes him qualified to be POTUS?

Just because he has a (D) next to his name is not a good enough reason.

And the way the DNC acted this primary season, I am not so sure I even want a (D) next to my name anymore.

I ended up writing a blog about this, expanding on my comment:

First of all, Obama hasn’t *won* anything yet. His nomination is NOT official until after the convention. Obama won the presidency months ago, in his own mind, but he is not the President yet, as much as he pretends, and he certainly is not the nominee yet.

“When Morgan Freeman comes over to greet Obama, the senator begins bowing down both hands in worship. “This guy was president before I was,” says Obama, referring to Freeman’s turn in Deep Impact and, clearly, getting a little ahead of his own bio. Next, a nod to Bruce Almighty: “This guy was God before I was.” (Okay, more than a little ahead.)”

Continued on my blog. (it was too long to post here)

Comment by MrMike | 2008-07-19 18:51:55

Two top Democrat Party officials?
If that’s the case we are doomed. There is no Democrat nominee because the convention hasn’t been held. There won’t be a nominee until they are selected at the convention.
Unless of course these two are willing partners in the fix to anoint Obama.
Is that the case, Alice and Don, are you in the tank for Obama?

Does anyone know what happened to the delegate switch count on Puma08.com’s website? This morning it said 9 delegates have switched from BO to Hillary and now we only need 166 more. FOLKS IT IS GONE NOW.

I totally despise, Pelosi, Dean and Obama. They are a threat to the real world. I hate having these feelings but if only someone would have had the foresight, courage and knowledge to take out Hitler, the holocaust would not have occurred. Our country and the free world is at risk mainly because of Obama and Richard Daly, George Soros and their associates, but Dean and Pelosi and other Dems are so stupid they are playing right into their hands. We must fight with all our might to keep America out of the hands of those that are out to take us down less we become like the jews that Hitler annilated.

He was going to vote for full representation of the fl delegates but made an apologetic speech to Ickes after the break saying he was going with the obama plan. And, IMHO, all emails ought to reflect the intelligent, thoughtful, considerate, professional PUMA attitude, to show those nincompoops that PUMAs don’t “carp, complain, and criticize”, but represent a sincere love for democracy, and believe in Country before Party. i watched everything that when on during this election…just as i have watched all that has gone on in this most corrupt administration in history…i am sorry if you think the voters who refuse to vote for obama are whiners etal..but, i personally don’t think he has a shred of credibility to be president and this election is just too important for me..i probably will not vote after being a democrat for 30+ years…i am now an independent..never would have believed what went down in a million years….my children will vote democratic but my husband and i are wise enough to know there just isn’t enough credibility or qualification to be president in obama for us to support.

thanks ,

thanks for address i sent my letter

I don’t do polite — so I won’t send an email.

But they can go to hell.

What will the DNC think of next?

This was the “get over it” message — and our response –

No way in hell will be get over Chicago politics and a Chicago monster.

See I just don’t do polite.

I suggested they all have a meeting where they are somehow able to see how we might have gotten the wrong impression, fully unintended on their part. *cough*. Then they need to WALK IT BACK. Dean and Brazille need to step down now.

It’s so late now, I can’t imagine how they could correct all the damage done to Hillary. It is their only hope for saving the party. Power must make these people stupid.

Thanks for the letter, Larry - helps to know whose who. And thanks for the email addresses. I have just sent these two insanely dysfunctional DNC miscreants the following letter. Hope many others will write them, too:
——
I am a voter who has just read your demand letter requiring our support for obama. It is astonishing that you are “irritated and fatigued” because previously Democratic voters are adamant in our opposition of this unqualified, dishonest candidate- after you, the Democratic Party leadership wrongfully selected this candidate - in opposition to the Will of the People!

What exactly could you have expected? You have conducted the party shamefully and now you act as if we are obligated to follow the same fool’s path you have set for the party. In case you have forgotten, the US is still a democracy (though it’s future might be otherwise were you and your candidate given the opportunity to lead the nation.) However, there are millions of US who will not allow this to happen.

For your information, a political party in this republic has no bonds of loyalty. If it did that would be fascism. Are you not aware of the difference? Instead of being respected and appreciated for our years to decades of loyal contributions and volunteerism to this organization, millions of US are being criticized, chastised and, in a growing number of cases, personally and even
physically threatened. Is that your idea of democracy? Is that your idea of maturity?

A political party survives and thrives by being responsive to the needs and desires of those whom it claims to represent. You, in the current Democratic Party leadership, have done neither. You have cast aside a truly great Presidential contender, who is favored by sweeping demographics from coast to coast- and you have done so without integrity, decency or just plain common sense. You have supplanted her rightful momentum toward
nomination and certain election to the Presidency -with a schemer, pretender and shape-shifter who has neither Hillary Clinton’s loyalty, history or commitment to the Party or country’s future. And instead of acknowledging your own poor judgment and correcting your course, you are
blaming US?!

Artful, successful politicians follow a path of respecting their base, encouraging support, appreciating contributions and questioning themselves- not the voters- if their campaigns run aground. Instead your letter shows your contempt for those who will not “fall in line” -
demonstrated by your own tawdry complaints and specious arguments.

You have made a disgrace of the Democratic Party. You have hopelessly divided your own electorate. You have lost the trust of the voters who have been the very foundation of this party for years and decades. We will not return until - if and when - your irresponsible, immature lack of true.leadership is reformed.

To be totally clear, if your contempt for those whom you claim somehow “owe” allegiance is not addressed and corrected, we will never return! As millions these days are saying:”I did not leave the Democratic Party. But it sure looks like the Party is leaving US!”

Based on your recent letter, which appears to be a convoluted, self-defeating demand for support, the two of you belong near the top of the short list (along with Pelosi,Dean and Brazille) who need to resign your positions - due to your absence of both sound judgment and leadership skills.

Sincerely,

One of the Democrats who is working against all of you - on behalf of the future of this nation.

Don, Alice, you guys obviously don’t get out much and certainly do not know anything about sports. The competition between the Lakers and Celtics in basketball and Federer and Nadal in tennis involved keeping tabs of the score.

Absoooolutely, if the refs started giving points to the Celtics for baskets they never made there would have been a riot in the stands, the game would have been called, heads would have rolled…

BOBO got points for baskets he never made…. LOL and the poor little muckity mucks are miffed over our reaction. ROFLMAO hey take two Quaaludes and call me in the morning ya putzes

COULDN’T AGREE WITH YOU MORE. THIS COUNRTY IS GOING TO STAND UP AND TAKE NOTICE WHEN WE DEMOCRATS HIT DENVER, AS THEY SHOULD. OUR DEMOCRACY IS CRUMBLING AND IN DIRE NEED OF ATTENTION NOT ONLY FOR DEMOCRATS, ALL POLITICAL PARTIES. THE VOICES OF WE THE PEOPLE ARE BEING SILENCED AND WE CANNOT AFFORD TO STAND BY AND DO NOTHING. IF WE DO, WE DESERVE WHAT WE GET.

THE ENTIRE NATION WATCHED IN TOTAL BEWILDERMENT AND SHOCK HOW HILLARY CLINTON WAS TREATED BY THE MEDIA AND HER OWN PARTY. THEY SHOULD JOIN US IN DENVER AND LET THEIR VOICES BE HEARD AGAINST THE BIASED AND UNJUST TREATMENT OF A POLITICAL CANDIDATE.

QUOTING RONALD REAGAN, “FREEDOM IS JUST ONE GENERATION FROM EXTICNTION.” IF WE DON’T STAND UP FOR WHAT TOOK PLACE IN OUR PRIMARY, THIS JUST MIGHT BE THE LAST GENERATION.

I’m proud to say that our democratic headquarters (and I will not tell Trolls where) the Hillary Clinton 08 is still in the window.
I’m going to drop in on Monday and give them a donation.
