McCain Campaign on Obama’s Failure to Meet with Wounded Troops

Fox News
July 26, 2008

Fox News’ Molly Henneberg: “Tucker joins us from Virginia. So Tucker, Senator Obama decided to not to visit wounded soldiers in Germany when he was there, and this has not gone unnoticed by the McCain campaign. In fact, just a couple of minutes ago on my Blackberry, I got a new statement from your campaign, from a military advisor, Lt. Col. Joe Repya. He says, this is quoting, ‘For a young man so apt at playing president, Barack Obama badly misjudged the important demands of the office he seeks. Visiting with world leaders and speeches to cheering Europeans should not be a substitute for comforting injured American heroes.’ So you guys think he really made a significant mistake by not going to Landstuhl Medical Center in Germany?”

Tucker Bounds: “It is significant and I think what is most significant about it, Molly, is it speaks to his judgment. He prioritizes throngs of fawning Germans over meeting with wounded combat troops in Germany. And, you know, it really speaks to the experience that Barack Obama lacks. This is a serious position he runs to fill, and he needs to understand exactly where his role is and how important it is to lead as the commander-in-chief.”

Henneberg: “Now, the Obama campaign says they didn’t want to do it for political purposes, but you were telling me earlier that your campaign wouldn’t have criticized him even if he had gone?”

Bounds: “No, that’s right Molly. I think there have been nine different excuses out of Barack Obama’s campaign as to why that trip and that visit never took place, and all of them fundamentally ignore one fact, which is that he couldn’t make time in his schedule to meet with wounded combat troops who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan. And it speaks again to the judgment of the candidate that’s running to be the Commander-in-Chief of our military.”

Well, all I can say is that I’m glad somebody ELSE agrees with this!

Obama always calls things “wildly inappropriate” if McCain says anything that reflects the real Barky Obama. Barky Obama should know rules otherwise it proves he isn’t capable and mature enough to be president. Barky Obama started playing the race card now he wants to win foreign countries attention, but Barky has forgotten France and Germany can’t vote in November’s General Election…. But of course, Barky Obama said he visited 57 states not remembering the United States has 50 and the States of Islam has 57…. Such a nutt case is Barky Obama!!!!!!!!!!!

Germany and France refused support when we ask them.

America will remember in November!

Comment by Silke | 2008-07-28 05:19:45

Do you seriously expect Germany and France to support a cause that is fundamentally wrong, such as the stupid wars that the US wage in Iraq and Afghanistan? I suggest you start considering if killing people is the right thing to do before you talk about fawning Germans? Obama is definitely much more popular in Europe than McCain, and for good reasons.

Obama writes the ads for McCain.

Check out this article on Riverdaughter — Obama — the Narcissist — going to the hospital without the court ass-kissers would have been too much for bamaling. Because it wouldn’t have been ALL about BOBO-bamaling.

Obama on canceled visit to troops: He didn’t want them caught in political ‘crossfire’

Question: “Senator can you clear up the controversy about visiting the troops in Germany, the Pentagon said you were more (than) welcome to come, but you can’t bring the media and were not allowed to bring campaign staff other than that you are more than welcome anytime … we have gotten a few conflicting claims.

Obama: “The staff was working this so I don’t know each and every detail but here is what I understand happened.

“We had scheduled to go, we had no problem at all in leaving, we always leave press and staff off that is why we left it off the schedule. We were treating it in the same way we treat a visit to Walter Reed, which I was able to do a few weeks ago without any fanfare whatsoever.

“I was going to be accompanied by one of my advisers, former military officer. And we got notice that he would be treated as a campaign person and it would therefore be perceived as political because he had endorsed my candidacy but he wasn’t on the Senate staff.

“That triggered then a concern that maybe our visit was going to be perceived as political and the last thing that I want to do is have injured soldiers and the staff at these wonderful institutions having to sort through whether this is political or not or get caught in the crossfire between campaigns.

“So rather than go forward and potentially get caught up in what might have been considered a political controversy of some sort what we decided was that we not make a visit and instead I would call some of the troops that were that. So that essentially would be the extent of the story.”

Someone needs to start a web page chronicling Obama’s lies. Obama tells so many lies (and flip-flops), it would probably take an entire staff to keep up with all of them.

Christ, I can just see him sweating as he answered that question. It should have bee answered in a couple of short sentences; instead, we get a dissertation. Bearing false witness will be his undoing (well, the picture in front of #10 Downing street won’t help, either).

BO propensity to use 100 words where 10 would do reminds me of Churchill’s famous put-down in the House of Commons:

“The Honourable Memeber opposite is intoxicated by the exuberance of his own verbosity”

Comment by Ferdberfle | 2008-07-27 05:55:07

What an eloquent putdown. We need more Churchills.

Actually, theobamafile,obama-wire and audacityof hypocrisy are doing a good job keeping track.
Mind you it is hard to keep up with BO - there are so many outright lies.

A very unwise omission by Mr O, and I dare say it will go down poorly “in all fifty-seven states.”

“Obama tells so many lies (and flip-flops), it would probably take an entire staff to keep up with all of them.”

We could staff 7 extra states the size of Texas just to work on that assignment.

If Oblahblah uses the term “we” one more time, I’ll blow chunks. Who is he kidding with the use of the “royal we”? Does he need company when making a decision/giving an explanation? I suppose he’s including the voices in his head as part of the decision-making process.

Perry you may be right.

He (BO) like W refuse to elevate their personalities to fit into the CIC role. (protocol, protocol, protocol)

They may have not respected the military BEFORE CIC but they DAMN WELL better be the BEST CIC CHEERLEADER once becoming or applying for the job!

He keeps trying to do it like HE SMUGLY wants to do it. Or should I say like mamma Michelle would want him to do it. He needs the praise from HER above all else!

Hey Perry, saw some of you videos — like the one where you take these new young voters to task. They really screwed up and where are their parents, ha?

Obama says that he doesn’t take reporters and photographers with him for events like visiting the hospital??? What bullsh*t! Has he ever missed an opportunity to document his “greatness” (even to the extent of supplying the adoring crowds)? Maybe that is the real reason he brushed off the soldiers. There was no room for his worshipers.
