Michelle Obama Should Save Her Breath

Barack Obama believes his wife, Michelle Obama, will convince women to vote for her sexist husband.  I quote CBS2 News Chicago:

CBS 2’s Dorothy Tucker reports Michelle Obama gave a speech Monday at the Palmer House Hilton, at an event called “Women for Obama.” But the message was clearly aimed at women for Hillary Clinton.

Michelle Obama walked into the room to a standing ovation. Most of the people in attendance were longtime Barack Obama supporters, but the candidate’s wife made it clear she was here to court the new supporters. And she did so by praising her husband’s former opponent.

“My husband is a better candidate because of her,” Michelle Obama said. “My daughters will look at themselves differently because of her. All of our children, our girls, will believe in the possibility of something bigger because of her.”

Someone please remind Michelle that relegating an eminently qualified woman to the role of supporter of the hopelessly unqualified man will not cajole women voters to support her husband.  Someone also explain to Michelle that women are concerned with women’s rights, not with the manner whereby the Obama daughters perceive themselves.  And please remind Michelle that a woman who allows her husband to accompany her to a job interview in order to determine if he approves of her boss is in now way qualified to discuss women’s rights and women’s issues.

Our intelligence will not be insulted.  And no, unfounded statements gratuitously embedded in news reports will not convince us to support Barack Obama.  I quote CBS2 News:

Michelle Obama is an articulate professional in her own right, and a role model herself.

Articulate professionals who serve as role models do not utter the following statements in public:

They also do not exploit misogyny for electoral and personal gain.

And no, Michelle, “good families” do not force their children to attend a God Damn America church in inner city Chicago wherein the pastor humps the altar and issues death threats from the pulpit.  They also do not allow convicted slumlords named Antoin “Tony” Rezko to help them purchase their “own house.”

Michelle Obama can attempt to dupe the women and Hillary supporters she “wants,” but we will not budge, for we do not support sexist candidates whose spouses view women as a cache of voters to be manipulated and exploited.  Insulting Hillary for her husband’s improprieties at a Women for Obama before the primary only to spin on your heals a year later with your praise for her ability to buttress your husband’s political ambitions after the primary reveals that you and those who handle you believe we have very short memories.  Our memories are long, very long, however.  And we will never forget that you betrayed your sex in order to secure the nomination of an unqualified man who believes men should vet their wives’ employers.

Michelle is a fraud, just like her husband.

That she can even try to spout this pap after what she said in that second video is a testament to just how totally disingenuous the Obamas are, how desperate the DNC and Obama feels about the polls, and how much power PUMAs have.

Michelle — you are an embarrassment. I think it’s time for you to book Ayers to speak at U of C again.

she is he one that won’t let obambi to have Hillary as vp. he has lists of vp who have nothing done to deserve it.
Hillary got more votes (And does better against McCain right now). The last thing Obama wants is to be on stage and have Clinton get a bigger round of applause. He is more worried about THAT than he is about the welfare of average Americans. Of that I am sure.
If you want to go to the Obama folks and tell
I see no other reason why Clinton is not being announced right now by the Obama folks other than Obama’s ego.

It sure is nice having a little more time on my hands, and I’d love to spend some of it with you. Would you like to join me for dinner?
During the campaign, I had the chance a few times to grab meals with supporters, but they were always rushed thanks to the frenetic pace of the campaign. This is my first chance to sit down and spend some real one-on-one time with you. If you enter today, we could be having dinner together soon!Join me for dinner. Make a contribution today.
My staff has been calling this my “retirement dinner” — not because I’m retiring, of course, but because we’re working on retiring the debt we owe to small vendors all over the country. And everyone who acts today will have the chance to join me — along with a guest — for a dinner to talk about whatever you’d like.

Women all over the world have been doing this for too long. I’m sick of women propping up someone who should by age 46, be able to stand for something. Obama’s walk in life has been on many women’s shoulders. I still do not know what Obama stands for.

“narcicrat” (noun) a person of the new Obama party who has a previous drug conviction and lives in one of the new purple states, as well as those who care so much about seeming hip and cool, act much younger than their age, borrow their children’s clothing and allow them to decide who they’ll vote for and those whose tastes, manners, etc., are characteristic of members of an aristocracy, the aspiring and self-identifying elite, the limousine liberals and Hollywood types.

Obama Sides with Islamists in Choudhury Case
Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee has touted himself as a friend to the oppressed, as a politician who stands up for justice and human rights.

This is a cornerstone of his campaign to the American people. It’s easy enough, however, to define oneself in whatever way one wants; especially when no one in the media challenges you on it.

The real test of moral courage is how one acts—not just talks—in real-life situations. And in the one concrete instance when the Illinois senator was called upon to stand up for justice, he was nowhere to be seen.

Wow!

I have recently returned from Rwanda. I was last there in 1994, at the height of the genocide that claimed the lives of more than 800,000 Rwandans. The memories of what I saw haunt me still.

I wasn’t sure what to expect all these years later, but I found a country that has found in its deep scars the will to move on and rebuild a civil society. And the renaissance is being led by women.

Women are at the forefront of the physical, emotional and spiritual healing that is moving Rwandan society forward. One of them, from eastern Rwanda, told me her story — a violent, tragic and heartbreaking testimony of courage. She spoke of surviving multiple gang rapes, running at night in fear of losing her life, going days without food or water and witnessing the death of her entire family — one person at a time, before her eyes.

That is exactly how you talk about women’s rights.

Comment by yttik | 2008-07-29 11:06:34

I can’t help but compare Cindy’s two recent articles honoring women to Michelle’s sexist comments about how if you can’t run your own house you can’t run the white house. Or going on the View and saying “it’s fun to be pretty.” The Dems better find somebody that speaks to women and fast, because the way they’re going, it isn’t looking good.

Comment by AF catfish | 2008-07-29 11:14:04

Did you know Cindy McCain drives racecars and is a licensed pilot? She flies her husband to campaign events (he can’t anymore because of his arms.)

Meanwhile, this is how CBS describes Tim Kaine, Obama’s veep pick:

Meet Tim Kaine.

His views on abortion are roughly in line with those of George W. Bush. He thinks John Kerry spent too much time on the campaign trail talking about windsurfing and not enough time talking about God.

DNC is waving bye-bye to women.

Comment by Diana | 2008-08-15 14:46:45

Nancy Reagan is a fantastic woman. She was at the forefront of the fight for stem cell research, you know that won her some enemies on the Republican side. Just like Cindy she’s made some bad judgments. The difference between the McCain’s and the Obama’s is the McCain’s have taken their lessons in this life and used them for the betterment of others as well as themselves. They’ve both lived through some tragedies that would have left many humans broken and bitter, but they didn’t allow that to happen in their lives.

I firmly believe in the philosophy of, “There are no mistakes to be made in this life, there are but lessons to be learned. It is what you take from those lessons that mold you into the person you become, the paths you choose to take. It is only when you fail to learn from those lessons that you are doomed to repeat them.”

Obama has learned nothing. He’s like an immature brat that is used to having things handed to him no matter how he has to get them. “Me. Me. Me.” Michelle has taken her lessons and allowed them to make her into a bitter person, with the, “You owe me. The world owes ME!” My mother in law used to say, “It’s easier for a person to drag you down, then it is for you to pick them up. Tell me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are.” Wright, Farrakhan, Ayers, Rezko. Even Michelle. No amount of anything will ever satisfy her because the world will still owe her…

McCain wasn’t my first choice, but if Hillary is not at the top of that ticket he will be my only choice. I have nothing but respect and admiration for both the Clinton’s and the McCain’s.

Comment by John | 2008-09-04 19:20:21

I’m not certain what world you’re living in. Cindy McCain had privilege from day one and inherited most of what she has gotten. Senator McCain graduated at the bottom of his class, live in privilege, whereas most would have been tossed to the wolves had he killed 140 service men playing games.

Hillary lost because her campaign was poorly administered and run. And if you think that the Obamas hadn’t had to scrape for anything in their lives, including hard work for their education, then you are in a different world.

Cindy McCain’s parents were self-made. When did the American Dream become such a horror story with Democrats? Did the Kennedy’s give all of their money away and send their kids off to earn their own living? What the hell has Caroline Kennedy ever done for America? Get a grip. Cindy McCain does a hell of a lot of charity work. Not the shit that is on the soceity page — the kind that saves lives. BUGGER OFF hypocrit.

Never told her husband and once she passed she took John on a flight and explained to him what she had been up to!

John’s reply was so glad you let me in on your small surprise.

This is a woman who does not need to brag or talk down to powerful women like Hillary or Hillary supporters…

Do you know what she does with all her “Rich Girl” money?
She finances an organization which crosses the world disarming land mines. If I recall correctly, she is also trained in disarming the things too.
I was asked to do that job after I took the Army Entrance Exam, and said NO F**KING WAY!
Jumping out of planes and sneakin’ through the bush seemed ever so more attractive.
A person who makes a mistake disarming a land mine
never even hears the “ang” in “Bang!”
The more I learn about this “Quiet Patriot,” the more I respect her. The more I respect her, the more I respect her judgement. The more I do that, the more I like her husband.
What a tremendous depth of character.

Comment by Boxer Mum 06 | 2008-07-29 13:58:13

Agreed!

I wasn’t a big fan of hers initially with her emotionless face and (IMHO)bad hair color. But, I did some research and learned that is a pretty cool lady!

Let’s not forget the work she does with Smile Train, adopted her daughter from Mother Theresa’s Orphanage in Bangladesh.

She is also an animal lover which is always a bonus in my book! Michelle just wants to promote the idea of getting a dog - please! This is nothing more than a stupid marketing game too, trying to look like the all-american family.

Cindy McCain would make an excellent first lady.

When you hear Michelle Obama making that comment about Hillary not being able to run her house you instantly see that the old saying is true, “You can take the woman out of the ghetto, but you can’t take the ghetto out of the woman”. It’s hard to believe she has a undergrad degree from Princton and a Law degree from Harvard, I would hate to see this woman anywhere NEAR THE WHITE HOUSE.

Hey! This is America!
Everybody can take the Whitehouse Tour…

And Cindy McCain was visiting Africa and other war torn countries long before Obama began running for office. I was talking with a man, an Obama supporter, at a cocktail party last week. There were several women there, most who had been Clinton supporters and switched rather easily to Obama (for the record, they all have some judgment about her marriage - bitter!) Everyone raved about how beautiful Cindy McCain is. I agreed, and the guy got really excited. He called her a “total FLILF” from the Daily Show or Colbert, I forget. But I pointed out her charity work and how she is the head of her family business. I think she is a strong woman with an inner as well as outer beauty. The women there all enthusiastically agreed.

Continued, from the WSJ:

It is a humbling experience to be in the presence of those who have such a capacity for forgiveness and care. It is also instructive. If wealthy nations want their assistance programs to be effective, they should look to the women who form the backbone of every society. With some education, training, basic rights and empowerment, women will transform a society — and the world.

Women today make up a disproportionate percentage of the Rwandan population. In the aftermath of the genocide, they had to head households bereft of fathers. They had to take over farms, and take jobs previously done by men. But there were opportunities, too: Today, 41% of Rwandan businesses are owned by women.

What about this part:

It is a humbling experience to be in the presence of those who have such a capacity for forgiveness and care

humbling….the Obama’s would never honestly be able to make a statement like that….they are incapable of being humble.

Wow, excellent link, yttik!!

Thanks.

I miss TGR, but I will be back. When I read about that woman who had to flee the US to protect her kids I decided I needed to protect my blood pressure for a spell.

Cindy McCain could teach the Obamas a thing or two.

Being perfect (MO and BHO think so, anyway) they wouldn’t learn anything from it.

WOW.

The truth emerges: Cindy McCain is John McCain’s secret weapon.

yttik — Cindy McCain is a terrific woman. She is smart, beautiful and compassionate. Michelle Obama is 0 for 3.

Plus Cindy McCain she does it quietly not with noise as loud as MO…

Women are so powerful without shouting about it Michelle, did your mother not bring you up correctly? Lessons in etiquette desperately needed.

I think of MO and BO as toxic people. They lie, they bully, they twist the truth in order to force people to accept their version of reality (which isn’t reality at all). Having this empty suit megalomaniac, with his psych-ops posing as a campaign makes me feel like I’m trapped in the twilight zone.

they are loathesome

In every respect (except their voter registration), stereotypical Republicans!

Michele Obama- soon to be yucky little angry embarrassed footnote in the ongoing saga of corporate Democratic perfidy that purposely loses elections. These people can’t win without gaming the system & dirty e-vote software. I can’t even tell if they themselves realize they are being used.

What a bunch of fraking idiots. NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NOBAMA NEVER.
