BarackBook

The Republican National Committee (RNC) today launched a new Web site, BarackBook.

The site parodies the social networking website FaceBook and Obama’s own website. BarackBook highlights some of Barack Obama’s notable associations throughout stages of his career, including his relationships with Tony Rezko, Nadhmi Auchi, and Alexi Giannoulias.

Leveraging the popularity of social networking sites, BarackBook allows voters to explore Obama’s connections with these individuals as well as their connections to one another using video and news articles.

I saw this yesterday. Very funny and informative too. The GOP/RNC seems to have gotten up to speed on the internets and youtube this cycle.

Baracka is starting to sink on the Intrade thing at real clear politics, now under 60%.

Okay, this is not really relevant to this thread but this is the third time this has happened to me:

I tried - once again - to unsubscribe from the DNC/Obama mailing list (have no idea how I got on it) and all three times I have had my computer freeze in the process.

This might not sound like a big deal but it is an iMac and has only frozen 4 times in its short (less than year old) life and only one of them had something to do with other than the DNC.

I needed to add a 4 digit return number to convince them I was serious about the unsubscribe and BAM, the iMac froze. I do not want to see his name in my inbox but guess I’ll wait a bit to try it again.

Has anyone else had this happen? This is not earth-shaking but it is CREEPY and annoying.

Comment by tek | 2008-07-31 13:02:00

Had the same problem trying to unsubscribe. Then they give you a password you have to go back and enter to get unsubscribed, and by the time you get the password you’re kicked out of the site! I finally did it though, and I sent Howard Dean several choice words in the process.

Comment by Lou | 2008-07-31 13:26:28

ADD THEM TO YOUR “BLOCKED MAIL”. If your computer is freezing there is a trojan virus trying to plant itself on your computer. Obama and DNC uses trojan files to hijack your computer.
Never unsubscribe. It only confirms your existence and they will not stop..never use unsubscribe for anything..just block the mail.
‘Hope this helps.

Comment by Pam | 2008-07-31 15:11:14

Yes. I have. I can’t unsubscribe.

My niece answered the phone the other day and took a poll for them, she said she voted for Obama and lied about her ability to vote. I think once kids go back to school, they won’t be avaialable to randomly answer their parents phones and take these surveys. I think you will see his polling drop like a rock after about september (taking into account different schools start at different time). I really think his polling edge is because all these kids, whom can’t vote, are lying when the survey asks them their age and/or if they can vote.

Did you see today McCain accused Obama of playing the race card. I LOVE IT! Finally he is starting to turn the tables on him.

Comment by obamaphobe | 2008-07-31 12:40:02

Saw that. And he did play the race card. His spokesperson is trying to say he meant he doesn’t look like all of the “old” guys on the dollar bills. But, he’s used the line about “looking different” before. Not the first time he played that card. Did you see the video of him saying how much gas/oil we would save if we would inflate our tires to the proper level.? He said we would save as much oil as drilling off shore would take in. He is such a juvenile.

Comment by timepassages | 2008-07-31 12:52:58

“So what they’re going to try to do is make you scared of me,” Obama said. “You know, ‘He’s not patriotic enough, he’s got a funny name,’ you know, ‘He doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.’”

Another elitist moment? Has Barrack never noticed dollar bills only feature George Washington?

Comment by Bye bye Obambi | 2008-07-31 13:27:04

Yeah!!! I am so glad. Finally! That’s just what I was hoping McCain would do. The timing is perfecting because Americans are having huge fatigue from the race card game.

This is some very scary stuff this citizen of the world Obama could try to bring here. Although if they think they can have 10 million radical Islamist here and do what they’re doing in Britain…they know nothing about our history. We’re not just going to hand over our freedom. We better get over this political correctness pretty quick when it comes to radical muslims, or this will be us.

Comment by Cat in NJ | 2008-07-31 13:39:08

Diana … Obama is of the same mindset as many of the governments in Europe, with a scary dose of radicalism thrown in. It’s predicted in less than 100 years, Europe will be predominately Muslim. Someone is allowing this to happen … and Obama will set us on the same course. I am not well-schooled in this area, but my husband was a political science minor at Fordham (and is now a psychiatrist) … he will mention every once in a while, “People have no idea just how dangerous Obama really is”.

God Bless America. God Help America. Save the Queen, too.

No more religion. No more murdering of gay people. No more murdering of women. No more intolerance. No more faux moral superiority. A girl can dream can’t she?

BarackBook is a really sharp idea.

However, the RNC is missing a lot of pertinent research on their BarackBook…for instance, by now we know that Obama worked with Bill Ayers long before the Woods Fund, and even before the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, and there are other problems with the RNC’s BarackBook. At the same time: it is still a very good idea! The research, however, should be thorough.

They say the oil out of Alaska wouldn’t last long. I’m not sure about offshore drilling. Domestically produced oil will only temporarily soften our energy problem, and not by much. With all the millions of miles Americans drive each day, adequate air pressure in tires and regular tune-ups could result in gas savings equivalent to what we would get from drilling on American territory. It’s not far fetched and conservation should be an important part of of our energy policy. Obviously it will not take care of everything. We need to build up our wind and solar capabilities.

Hillary had a great energy policy and it seems to me Obama copied most of his policy from her. She had done her homework and he was unprepared. But in the end, their policies were largely identical. Attack Obama for his faults, not his strengths. I wish Hillary were our nominee as much as you do. But our energy policy is crucial and if a candidate supports saving gas, don’t attack him for it. You lose your credibility.

Oh, I forgot to say that Obama supports ethanol, at least last time I heard. He’s trying to get votes from corn producing states. Ethanol doesn’t help the environment and it raises food prices.

Comment by MEchelle Hates America! | 2008-07-31 14:13:43

It’s how Oblowme in Chicago Exelon won Iowa with Ethanol and started gaming the primary.

Literally Oblowne’s nothing but horseshit.

Comment by gregoryp | 2008-07-31 15:43:40

At this juncture Ethanol is a bad, bad idea. We always have to be on the lookout for unintended consequences. Ethanol from sugar like Brazil does is just fine. Ethanol from corn is stupid as hell. We’ve got millions of people starving every year across the globe and we are using food products for transportation? How sinister can a people be? We seriously need to get our priorities straight. The number one goal should be NOBODY fucking starves to death. NOBODY! Nobody dies because they don’t have access to clean water supplies. Then we need to move onto other very important issues and we have to start right here in our own country. Not everyone has adequate housing, medical care, employment, etc.

Nader said progressives who will vote for Obama as the “least worst candidate” are actually trapped in “political slavery.”In June, Nader drew criticism for commenting that Sen. Obama is trying to “talk white,” adding in a filmed interview that his candidacy was appealing to “white guilt.”

“I haven’t heard him have a strong crackdown on economic exploitation in the ghettos,” said Nader of Obama. “Payday loans, predatory lending, asbestos, lead. What’s keeping him from doing that? Is it because he wants to talk white? He doesn’t want to appear like Jesse Jackson?”

He continued: “He wants to appeal to white guilt. You appeal to white guilt not by coming on as black is beautiful, black is powerful. Basically, he’s coming on as someone who is not going to threaten the white power structure, whether it’s corporate or whether it’s simply oligarchic. And they love it. Whites just eat it up.”

well a great one for the Rnc, to take up is how Obama counter ad, about britney, same old politics, well how about he tells voters anything for race but does opposite, actions are louder than words, so SAme old politics with a new face Obama with the stars, head in the clouds when it comes to real working class solutions, integrity and democracy before party… cant trust the guy: one minute is against then next 4, hey how about the repriation? mmm well as a hispanic born and raised here , we too want it since our ancestors were part of the new united states as mexico and texas colorado, and several in between once were a part of Mexico, even though we did not fight but does this makes since i want everything free too , can u see the debt now, what is up with this , working hard to get where your going. Did Congress not have a vital roll to debate oil drilling ,to help the American People, with the economy and the say Republicans twist things for the benefit shhh, did people not already apologize for slavery? Has not our country come a long long way, for the better, will it go away totally , no but neither will taxes. there cannot be enough publicity that Obama voted for the Cheney
Energy bill and McCain voted against it….so did Hillary.

How can Obama call himself a progressive when the stands with
the dark energy lord?

and today Obama goes on and on about McCain accepting money
from oil industry execs.

Obama is the Senator from Exelon.
