Obama: Just Inflate Your Tires and Everything Will Be Fine
By Uppity Woman on August 1, 2008 at 12:50 PM in Bamboozling, Barack Obama, Current Affairs, Gas Prices, Hoodwinking, buffoon

I’m laughing so hard I am practically crying here. What on earth is wrong with Barack Obama? Is he a simpleton? Is he unable to grasp complex problems? Or is it just that he shouldn’t be allowed to speak without a teleprompter?
As you might recall, Manchild Barack Obama has already told us that as President he will expect us to follow his order: “Don’t Drive. Don’t Eat. Freeze Your Butt ala Jimmy Carter Malaise.
Now, according to this turkey, we actually won’t need to drill for oil if only all of us would just inflate our tires.
That’s right folks. You inflate your tires and it will solve our oil problem. We won’t need to drill, because our properly inflated tires will save us the same amount of oil we would garner if we drilled.
I think Powerline says it best:
Barack Obama is a lot like Sean Penn or George Clooney. If you give him a script, he can deliver it pretty well. But if he tries to talk without a script that has been written for him by others, he quickly reveals that he is poorly-informed if not downright ignorant. Today he delivered another classic, by claiming that if only we would all properly inflate our tires, we could save as much gasoline as “all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling.” Seriously:
The stunned silence with which the crowd greets this howler suggests that most Americans have a more practical understanding of energy consumption than Obama.
And here’s the “Howler”:
Warning: Do not drink anything while you are watching this. I wouldn’t want your coffee to come out of your nose or ruin your keyboard or anything:

Powerline also did the math, which brings us to the conclusion that without a teleprompter and a pre-written script composed by somebody with an IQ, Barack Obama is truly a stunningly stupid dimwad. While he prances around the country claiming that people will try to make us afraid of him because he doesn’t look like the guys on our currency, it is becoming glaringly apparent that there is good reason to be afraid of him and it has little to do with his tan:
Properly inflating your tires can improve gas mileage by 3%. Of course, many people already keep their tires properly inflated, and many more are at least close to being properly inflated. Let’s be generous and assume that one-half of the total possible savings would be realized if we all inflated our tires properly; that’s a net gain of 1.5% fuel efficiency.
Americans drive approximately 2,880 miles per year. If we average 24 mpg, we use around 120 billion gallons of gasoline in our vehicles. If, through perfect tire inflation, we improved our collective fuel efficiency by 1.5%, that would be 1.8 billion gallons. A barrel of oil produces around 20 gallons of gasoline, so the total savings available through tire inflation is approximately 90,000,000 barrels of oil annually.
How does this stack up against “all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling?”
ANWR: 10 billion barrels
Outer Continental Shelf: 18 billion barrels (estimated; the actual total is undoubtedly much higher, since exploration has been banned)
Oil shale: 1 trillion barrels
So, on the above assumptions, it would take only 11,308 years of proper tire inflation to equal “all the oil that they’re talking about getting off drilling.”

I posted about Barack’s plan to seize oil profits and redistribute them to his supporters, if anyone’s interested.

OT, but important
Hillary and Bill Clinton are sending out e-mails to her supporters to raise money to retire her remaining debt.
I don’t see how we can expect her to become the Democratic Nominee in Denver if her debt is not paid off.
I don’t see how we can’t afford a few bucks here and there to help her.
Send a few Dollars her way. That is the minimum we can do for her.
The last time I sent Hillary money - a week or so ago I rec’d correspondence asking if it is okay to allocate it to her 2012 “Senate” campaign.
I responded Yes.
She got a big boost from the 4th of July drive and probably they thought that it will keep coming.
I don’t know what is going on with Hillary - she communicates very little to her supporters. It must have a very good reason. If she asks for money, I will send as much as I can. (It is not much, unfortunately.)
I think her hands are tied and it is very limited she can do for her presidential goals without damaging herself - or the Party.
I believe she wants to save not only the country but the Democratic Party too.
I have never seen anyone who is such a determined fighter - only maybe the Old Warrior, except McCain didn’t have such hurdels to deal with.
BOGUS Story About Hillary Quitting

Write the author of the bogus news story about Hillary asking not to be nominated
Tell him what you think of him
msaul@nydailynews.com
It reminds of the last day of the Primary while the polls were still open in the 2 states (MT and SD, I believe) and AP ran a story all day long that Hillary conceded. They wouldn’t retract the story despite being called on it’s being a lie.
Hillary Clinton rouses union workers in S.F.
“God, I wish it was her.”
” Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton delivered a rousing call to thousands of union workers in San Francisco on Thursday to put Sen. Four years ago today, John Kerry led George W. Bush by four points (49% to 45%) and by five with leaners (51% to 46%). That matched his best day ever and was the last time he enjoyed such a sizable lead.
Why is O not showing these numbers at this point?
Here is Barack’s energy policy.
“Don’t drive, don’t eat, and freeze in the dark”.
It worked in Chicago! Just ask Rezko.
Hey. Don’t knock tire inflation. Barack knows him some inflation. There’s his birth certificate, his college resume, his “professional” resume, his two novels, his “qualifications” …. the only thing for sure Barack does know IS inflation. Which he will have to do to his own tires to get anyone else under the bus.
Did you notice that he even ‘double spaced’ his Wailing Wall note to make it look bigger?
A 1,000.00 rebate is how it was described, on the radio, by BO.
Ain’t that a peach! I would love to get my money back, but what BO is proposing is nothing but red meat rhetoric BS 101. And the crowd cheers!!!
I worked on the California initiative for “Tax Big Oil” in 1980(?) Bill Press was heading it up and IT failed. This windfall profit tax failed than and it will fail even more now.
Oh Gawd, who advised Obama on this one? Gore or Leonardo DiCaprio? Look, I understand that inflating tires helps…somehow…
But is he wacked out of his head to say that if we all just got tune ups and inflated our tires that we would all be fine?
WTF??
Earth to Obama…
lol…clown car…
Do the tires look like they need a little air?
It works by reducing friction. Underinflated tires grab the road more reducing mileage. They also heat up more (sometimes causing tires to disintegrate).
It really does make a difference if it is done by most people. Also, it is safer and saves money not only on gas (a small amount per car) but also extends the life of tires.
Obama’s mistake was to say it would replace all the oil we have offshore. But it is an important part of conservation. Too bad he didn’t say that. Not only does he look foolish, he blew an opportunity to increase public awareness of this simple measure.
I bought a black and decker electric pump. It is easy to use because you present the pressure you want. It is pretty accurate, but you still should double check with a good tire guage.
WORM my ass.
I agree. He should have just listed it with the other things you can do to save gas.
My husband was always amazed when I inflated the tires on our car and all of a sudden, it would ride more smoothly on the road. He just couldn’t believe something that easy could have such a big effect.
He also mentioned keeping your car tuned up. That would also increase the savings. I prefer Clinton. But I will not put down someone when he advocates for conservation. That should be a large part of our energy plan. When you add up all the little bits of energy you can save doing this or that, it can end up being a significant amount.
jw, agree there. However, Barky is pimping the thought that if we all properly inflate our tires it will equal in savings all the oil we would drill for. Now that’s plain Ludicrous. You see, what he did was take a small piece of what Hillary said, without bothering with the rest of an entire plan. To say what he said shows a clear lack of understanding beyond a one-liner.
Uppity,
Maybe we’re not being understanding enough. Ya know, when you’ve got that really tight buzz workin’ how ya just want to butt-in without listening to the other person and Explain what he’s saying to you so he’ll understand?
If Barry’s got anything overinflated, its his Bong!
properly inflate our tires it will equal in savings all the oil we would drill for
Sounds like his ego we a talking about.
No, this is not the 70’s. Who doesn’t get their cars tuned up and their tires inflated??
Our cars are VERY different now.
first of all, when you get an oil change, they check your tires. Most cars don’t need tune ups for the first 100,000 miles.
Your tires get checked during yearly inspections as well. I am surpised Mr. Doh didn’t mention carburators. lol.
That is if you go get your oil changed. There are still a significant number who change their own oil. Also, you should be checking your tire pressure monthly, at a minimum.
There are also a significant number of vehicles that are older and have over 100,000 miles.
I agree with Uppity - Obama takes a small piece from Hillary’s plan and proceeds to show he has no understanding on this issue. Ridiculous that we have Bush III running as a Democrat.
Very few people keep their tires inflated. It should be checked monthly, but most people rarely do it, especially since we don’t have full service gas stations. I think most tire dealers will do it for you if you don’t want to do it yourself, but it is a nuisance.
That’s why God gave us husbands isn’t it? j/k. But really, how many of us would love to return as one of our husband’s cars when we die?
Good Golly!
I come to talk politics and its the “Click and Clack Show!”
Anybody know how to re-attach the high pressure fuel lines to an in-tank gas pump to a ‘98 Lumina?
No, really….
Gas in the Tank or an oil change?
amen to that.
How about that 6 million dollar mansion? Is it an energy hog or has he used his own money to make it green? Please don’t tell me he’s waiting until he’s nominated so he can use more of our tax money to finance his decadent lifestyle!
Pitiful, recall these are the same questions we were asking about the other Media crush Bush….
This is a classic “open your mouth wide, insert foot” moment. I read about this comment yesterday but the video is downright painful to watch. I think the audience thought he was kidding.
Nope. That’s our Barack.
Now we know why Obama has refused McCain’s suggestion of doing these Town Hall meetings across the country. A few more bloopers like this and even the press will start laughing.
Save us from this self-appointed Savior. Please!!!!
I was feeling down earlier, but this video cheered me up. The pause was hilarious. He’s waiting for a reaction and doesn’t get it. Then he realises he’s said something they’re just not buying, so he adds the tune-up line. I can’t stop laughing.
I heard about this too, but I agree… the video puts a different perspective on it. Fox should play this all the time.
Obama camp admits playing Race Card on ‘dollar bill’ thingy!!
after denying it all day yesterday…

Speaking of Obama as clown, here are two new images to help get across the point of Obama as vapid celeb, just as the McCain camp brilliantly showed in their ‘celeb’ ad:
Barack celeb pic 1
Barack celeb pic 2
Please pass them on, and let everyone know just what a media-created fraud this guy is.
Yeah, if only Bobo were that beefy.
That Obama pic was on the cover of People magazine a month before he announced his candidacy.
A few weeks later came Obama Girls.
Still waiting on the substance…
Oh wait - Obama voted to give immunity to AT&T - sponsors of the Denver convention.
NObama!
New McCain ad.. called “Praise the One” lol

Buy the book “Obama Nation” (out today), read it, and share it with every registered voter you know (especially Obama supporters); go to Amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com now and buy it! This could help turn the tide even faster before the convention (to draft Hillary). THIS IS IMPORTANT
* * *
The book title is actually “The Obama Nation” (could also be THE ABOMINATION) heh-heh-heh
You are right, Pragmatist, it is important. Look at my post farther down the thread….
Never mind…won’t show..won’t post…!! i’ll email it to No Q
SusanUnPC, Two in a row! Good thing I have a gun and a dog!
Where the heck have you been? I thought that you’d run out of wit!
That is NOT possible Beebop! It’s just that sometimes I get distracted by Life!
I hope and trust that it was all good things. We missed you and need your voice.
I’m FAR from an Obama fan, but proper tire inflation, tune-ups, consolidating trips, driving at 55 mph, carpooling all help.
Granted, it isn’t a substitute for judicious drilling AND a plan to wean us off oil, but every little bit helps. More so, it’s not a nice-to-have, it’s our responsibility to protect the earth that God gave us dominion over.
That’s the point. Of course tires should be properly inflated, but in NO WAY would it make up for drilling. And that is what he implied.
Not to date myself, and almost off-topic, but what the hell. We did all of these conservation things during Carter and just as soon as the problem eased up, American car manufacturers went right back to their old ways and so did Americans. And ethanol was a bust. A ripoff. Just like now. It costs 1.20 gallons of oil to process 1 gallon of ethanol. But it’s working out well for Tom Daschle et al.
We truly DO need to explore ALL options, not pick and choose. And yes, we have to drill. The argument in the late 70s was “we wouldn’t see any results for ten years”. You can see where this is going. That argument should be a dead one just on sheer history.
I have a Catergan sweeter to prove it. Still set ‘em at 65 and moved to California in order not to freeze in a NY winter. I was tired of seeing the NYPD remove people who had frozen to death.
Those of us in S. FL. have been under water restrictions for a year and have been inundated with pleas to conserve electricity. Well, the populace responded, usage declined and all was right with the world, temporarily.
Now, our efforts to be good citizens are being rewarded with surcharges because we have consumed too little. The lower your usage of water and power, the higher your surcharges!
Seems the corporations aren’t making enough profit.
They did that here too. We cut our consumption and the power company raised our rates because they sold too little.
Maybe Barack was too busy in Europe to realize that American consumption has already declined significantly? Does he keep up on any news other than the kind he thinks he makes? It isn’t coming down quickly enough to impact the average consumer or save the auto industry … if he could be any more out of touch, he’d still be in Berlin.
I live in Wilton Manors (borders Ft. Lauderdale to the north). I save every bit of electricity I can squeeze out of my house. Don’t mind that a bit…the lawn that still hasn’t recovered from the water restrictions…now that just plain sucks.
McCain Camp Compares Times Editorial Board to ‘the Average Daily Kos Diarist’
Where the New York Times sees an editorial scolding, the McCain campaign sees an opportunity.
At issue is an editorial, which appeared yesterday on the Times blog “The Board,” accusing the McCain campaign of “starting up the same sort of racially tinged attack on Mr. Obama that Republican operatives ran against Harold Ford.”
McCain spokesman Michael Goldfarb just sent out this statement, attacking the Times as hysterically pro-Obama:
“If the shareholders of the New York Times ever wonder why the paper’s ad revenue is plummeting and its share price tanking, they need look no further than the hysterical reaction of the paper’s editors to any slight, real or imagined, against their preferred candidate. This campaign has never engaged in ‘racially tinged attacks,’ and the Obama campaign conceded as much yesterday in a statement clarifying that “Barack Obama in no way believes that the McCain campaign is using race as an issue.”
That the Times made this allegation in a blog post rather than running it on the editorial page indicates that they either knew the charge was bogus or they didn’t have the nerve to make their case in full view of the public. But in their new role as bloggers, the paper’s editors seem to have all the intelligence and reason of the average Daily Kos diarist sitting at home in his mother’s basement and ranting into the ether between games of dungeons and dragons. They also have about as much care for the facts–the “board” has already been forced to append a correction.”
EXCELLENT!
Ya’ know, this is the second time in a week that McCain’s guys have used our material against Barry. That ‘basement’ shot came from Hope Floats last week!
If they need speechwriters in McCain’s camp, I’m available but not for FREE!
At least we should get creative props for the good material…
Outstanding!
This is a riot Hillaryfighter. You would think the Times would have enough sense to feel humiliated.
They may have too much money riding on the Unity Pony … I hope they are getting really good odds.
OMG. LOL. They really said that?? Excellent!
If you go to McCain’s site click on blog and in the McCain Report that statement is there with the Leave Barack Alone video.
http://www.johnmccain.com/
On the main page is their new ad. The One.
Pretty damn funny. Using BO Plenty’s plenty big ego against him …. hahahahahahahahahaha. Can’t wait until it starts to air. Should make meal time less of the Obarfa drag! Thanks for sharing!
Ah yes, but of course, does the media focus on Obama’s comments and how ridiculous it is? Of course not, that would be racist, just like anything else negative you say about him.
BTW, the Obama Nation book, just out today, is now number 5 on Amazon’s top 100 list. Glad the public is taking an interest! Do you think it will make it to Oprah’s book club?
LOL!
LMAO Maybe all PUMA’s should send her a copy.
While I do agree that we should keep
our tired properly inflated and motors tuned-up,
we need to get off of foreign oil.
These things will cut foreign oil dependence by 3%. That is not much.
We need alternative energy. Hillary offered
a comprehensive plan to get us off of all oil.
McCain has a plan that will get us off of foreign
oil in the short term and full energy independence
in the long term. The Democrats have again nominated an elitist snot. The evidence should be obvious. Not only is Obama pandering to the Hollywood/Latte Drinking Crowd, but he also wants to make sizable cuts to the Space Program and wants to double the size of the National Endowment For The Arts.
This clearly shows where Mr. Obama stands. He stand with the DiCaprios, Clooneys(”Clownies”), and Baldwin (Wife Beater) of the world.
How about we eliminate the Arts Endowment, it’s a waste of money.
No, we need the arts. The NEA’s budget is $144 million a year, which I believe is the equivalent of about a third of what we spend on Iraq in just a single day…think about that. Eliminating it would do almost nothing for our national fiscal health but would cause proportionally greater harm to our cultural well-being.
I don’t agree with his proposal of cutting the space program. Personally I’d like to see that increased, with an emphasis on more robotic missions like the ones that have worked so well on Mars.
The space program needs to be increased, or at the very least kept at the current level. The space program is responsible for much medical technology, GPS, satellite TV (obviously), and even the computers we are typing on. (The integrated circuit was invented for the space program.) P.S. As for bush’s mars mission, forget that until you can pay for it without borrowing the money.
I’m totally against Bush’s manned Mars mission, which I heavily suspect they intend to be a way, as was the case with the Iraq war, to shift public funds into private hands, in this case whichever aerospace subcontractors NASA would award their no-bid contracts to.
So lets just have China reach Mars first. It is the RED planet anyway. Opposition to space exploration is silly because the exploration leads to so many new technologies. Furthermore, the jobs created by the space industry help fuel large sections of the economy, including the electronics, robotics, and aerospace fields.

Barack Obama HECKLED by African Americans in Florida today
Glad to see that they aren’t afraid of the bus. God Bless them.
thank you for posting the video.
I hope the sign said “count my vote!”
Someone deflate the ignorance coming out of his mouth!
At least one can use it a good humor as nothing intelligent can be drawn from it ( as usual ) !
Inflate tires and let them eat cake.
Another good way to save gas is to not drive with your foot on the brake. Also bad is going down the road with your seatbelt hanging out the door.
If we could inflate our tires with all the hot air Obama blows, we could all drive hover crafts. I bet that would save on gas.
OMG….LMAO…thanks that was a good one!!
those hovercrafts are cool too!
New McCain ad: ‘THE ONE’. Hilarious!
http://www.breitbart.tv/html/143513.html
LOL! Oh that’s harsh.
McCain always had a good sense of humor. That one is going to leave a mark!
Oh my goodness, this is funny. Really good stuff coming out today. “The light coming down” … HAHAHA BRB Gonna watch it again for fun.
I will post this link that says Obama camp admits to playing race card. Savage had it so I will post it over here too.
http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Politics/Story?id=5495348&page=2
Thanks Ohio!
Why inflate tires? Maybe Obamabots can just run their cars on ‘Change’ and ‘H(D)ope’?
It is a known fact that overinflation of Bus Tires will cause them to lift the vehicle another 1 and 1/2 inches. Tests show that on average, you can fit 2.186 more people under said bus with just this tiny adjustment. Now that’s change we can believe in.
HAH! That is too rich!
Does anyone know what the hecklers were saying at Gibbs High today? Did anyone catch what their sign said?
The video is too fuzzy to read it.
“What about the Black Community, Obama?”
I’m sure this link has been posted, but worth being posted on every PUMA blog.

Love that. Wish the graphics showed a little better against the background…but I love the message!
As others have noted: keeping your car well maintained (tune ups, oil changes, correct tire inflation) and driving conservatively will help address a bit of the current crisis, but gawd …
I have go to say, BO’s presentation on this reminds me of the suggestion from Bush and Co a few years ago to duck tape black plastic garbage bags to your windows in the event of a terrorist attack……
