If We Were to Psychoanalyze Mr. Obama …

Here are some questions I’d have:
Last night I read, and shared with the NoQ writers, the CBS story about the chair on Obama’s plane. It says President. [Ani has since written the story.]
Then there is the O on the tail of the plane that has replaced the flag of the United States.
Then there was the faux Presidential seal. And on and on.
First, what kind of staff would do this for someone not even yet nominated?
Second, what kind of candidate would permit such presumptuous adornments that the media can spot, and report on to the public?
Does his ego require that much stroking?
Usually, even people with large egos have the common sense to know that such adornments are unseemly, and don’t permit them. Why does he not have the capacity to see how this makes him look?
Do his staff members not have the ability to tell him that it is unseemly? Or do they genuinely, apparently, think, like he, that it is not presumptuous?
I am genuinely interested in what professional psychoanalysts would have to say about all of this.
I remain perplexed why someone would use such presumptuous symbolism, and does not have the common sense to realize that such symbols inevitably backfire.

I guess they are just words.
The real question here is: why are so many people buying or drinking hos koolaid? Analyze that, because whatever tricky Barky is, Millions adore him. What are they looking for? What are they expecting? What’s wrong with them?

My question is why the Republicans are giving him a pass on painting over the American flag on the tail of his plane with his own symbol. I would love to hear someone ask Barack if he will do the same thing to Air Force One if he wins.

What kind of person would permit such use of symbols in his honor? Someone, with an huge ego, who does not have a clear sense of reality.
Tiny ego. He has no core convictions which make up the ego. Instead, he borrows from others. For someone to be so afraid of what they believe, their ego and self-esteem must be tiny. Furthermore, his need of adulation speaks to a deeper psychological problem. He is very damaged.

Obama is a narcissist. Narcissists do not recognize their boundry in society. They need adoration and worship.
Looking at his history, he manuevered himself near people who would stroke him and use him in a way that would bring him glory.
Drug users (alcoholics included) have psych issues. These people leave their drugs, but whatever issue they have remains. Bush and Obama we know were drug users. We’ve seen the results of one addictive personality in the WH, and now the Democrats want equal time by giving the voters another addictive personality candidate. Maybe that’s why BO has not released his medical records.

Obama isn’t like Bush he is the anti-Bush. Bush stood by his decisions even if they were stupid, Obama changes his mind at the drop of the hat. While Bush might be misguided in his beliefs, Obama has no beliefs. He simply sponges off of others and moves with the flow of public opinion. They is why he flip flops. You never caught Bush flip flopping to such a degree that people were left unaware of who he was. Obama is 100 times more dangerous than Bush.
I agree, I don’t think Bush vacillated on his positions, we pretty much always knew where he stood.
I have evolved to the point where I think it is disrespectful to compare Obama to any president, vice president, or any other presidential nominee of either party. I am guilty of this myself when I compared Obama to Carter for ineptitude. I apologize to Jimmy Carter for this. As bad as Carter was with the misery index, energy, etc. Obama is so much worse or potentially worse that a direct comparison such as Carter II would not be appropriate.
The more I understand of Obama the more I understand that Obama has set a standard so much lower than any president or nominee on so many levels that it is insulting to others to equate them to Obama.
Obama is in a league of his own and that needs to be stressed.
I mean equating Obama to others rather than comparing him to others.
As much as I despise Bush I have to agree with you Andrew. But most of Bush’s decisions were wrong and stupid.
I think you have it backwards, people have issues they can’t or won’t deal with, maybe the pain is too great for them. Using drugs or alcohol is just a symptom of their problems. Obama’s problem is abandonment by both of his parents. he never knew his father and his mother sent him away at age 10. Give this some thought, Fareed Zakaria interviewed Obama a couple weeks ago and he asked Obama what he remembered most about living in Indonesia. Obama said “It was when my Mother told me she married a man from Indonesia and we were moving there”. From that statement you can see how damaged he still is.
What do I have backwards? You are saying the same thing. Obama has psych issues and used drugs to “help” him. Usually people leave the drugs, but the issues remain. We see what a loser Bush is, and Obama is not very accomplished either. By the time Hillary was his age she was ten times more accomplished. Drugs are just the symptom. You got that right. The idea that Obama was traumatized because he was abandoned by his father is only a guess. He should release his medical records to find out if he got psych help. As far as I know, Bush never did.
The other common factor with most addicts is they Lie and lie about Lying. They become con men/women and have to point the finger at others to deflect from themselves.

Very early on, before the extent of this guy’s problems really started showing up in all these trappings of power, I likened him to Bill Clinton with regard to “father issues” and “wanting to be liked.”
But at this point, I think Obama is in even worse shape than Clinton ever was…

Thanks for the link, Paul. The stat that stood out for me is the Catholic vote [I come from a Catholic family]. Catholics represent approx. 65 million people in this country. After the primaries, Obama had a 11% lead. McCain now has taken a 15% advantage.

DogLacky, if you read Hillary’s senior thesis, you will find she rejected Alinsky’s methods and chose instead to work inside the system. She was nineteen years old at the time Alinsky offered her a position in his Activist community and she turned him down flat. I agree with those who say BO fits the diagnostic description for Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). Whether this can stem from drug use, I don’t know, but sounds like Barry has had it a large party of his life.

NPD is generally thought to originate in childhood and has several different causes. There are several excellent sites that have very good psychological descriptions of what it is and how it originates. Just google narcissistic personality disorder.
Since I am not a psychologist I will not attempt to delve into an explanation. One of my favorite sites is called Ultimate Self. It is written so the lay person can understand it.
But I do belueve that Obama shows at least some signs of this disorder.
Most NPDs are also alcoholics or drug addicts. They usually carry alot of pain inside and use chemicals to cover it up. It is caused by severe neglect or abuse or trauma in childhood and really starts to take hold when the person is in their early 30s, although they typically appear to be very confident before that.
It’s the coke abusers that gave enjoying a couple of lines with a jigger of Jim Beam at breakfast a bad name.
