Super Delegates, It’s Not Too Late [Update]

Way back in 1988, with the country weary of 8 years of Ronald Reagan, the presumptive Democratic nominee–Michael Dukakis–was 17 points ahead of George H. W. Bush in the polls in August. We all know how that election turned out. The political conditions were ripe for a Democrat to win the White House but the party found a candidate capable of squandering every advantage.

Well, meet Barack “Barry Soetero” Obama. Unlike Michael Dukakis, Obama’s poll numbers against John McCain are headed south. Rasmussen’s latest poll shows that McCain has inched ahead of Obama–and this has happened without any serious Republican attack ads. Obama is doing a nose dive into concrete.

Without the votes of the Super Delegates Obama cannot get the nomination. If the Super Delegates refuse to exercise their judgment and stop the Obama debacle, then the Democrats are in for a tough November–at least on the Presidential front. There are major stories brewing that will derail Obama’s message and campaign. These include:

1. Barack Obama’s campaign has filed false, misleading financial reports with the FEC. We have the story but a mainstream journalist is working on it. We will break the story, probably next week, once it hits the press.

2. Barack’s refusal to release his health records will blow up. Why is a seemingly healthy 46 year old guy unwilling to release his medical records? I have asked this question of several political pros and they have told me that it is probably because the records contain embarrassing information. Such as? Is there an STD in his past? Drug use/treatment? Psychiatrist? We don’t know. But the Obama campaign is kidding itself if it thinks they will be able to stonewall on this question for the duration of a general election campaign.

3. Barack’s refusal to produce a legitimate, valid certificate of live birth. Techdude’s article posted last night at NoQuarter demonstrates conclusively that what is posted on the Obama campaign site and at Daily Kos is a fabrication that used the Certificate of Live Birth of a woman born in the 1970s. A likely candidate? Maya Soetero, Barack’s sister. If this is the case then the next question will be did she consent to allowing her COLB to be used in this manner.

4. Which brings us to the question of Barack’s name and nationality. He was adotped by his Indonesian step-father, Lolo Soetero. As a result of this adoption his birth certificate was amended and his name recorded as Barry Soetero. The failure of the campaign to come clean on this will be further fodder in the early days of the general election that will derail the Obama campaign’s effort to craft a clear message.

5. Barack’s meme as a humorless flip flopper with a God complex is set. The ads last week making fun of Barack’s celebrity and aura of deity are just the beginning of a flood of material that will turn Mr. Hope-and-Change into a national laughing stock.

080408_tiregauge_donation.jpgUpdate: The McCain campaign has found Barack Obama’s Achilles heel, his humorlessness, and they are using humor to expose his weaknesses on policy, experience, and electability. This latest spoof of Obama’s comments asking people to properly inflate their tires to save on energy has gone “viral,” according to Memeorandum.com. This spoof works because it is hilarious and also delivers a serious message.

6. Campaign contributions from foreigners, especially Palestinians. Check out the latest from Aaron Klein. Someone on the Republican side surely will go thru these contributions with a finetooth comb. Barack taking money from folks perceived as enemies of America is another story line that won’t help Mr. Obama win the votes of angry white folks clutching guns and bibles in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia.

So Super Delegates, it is up to you. Stop this trainwreck and save Barack from himself. If Barack is crowned then let’s be clear about who is to blame–the leaders of the Democratic party. Rather than serve the interests of America you have surrendered to the cult of personality and squandered any hope of putting a real Democrat in the White House.

Hillary, we’re still with you.

Well said! But then the superdelegates would have to give back all that money……..

I guess I’ll just have to watch NASCAR, read my Bible and cling to my gun until 2012 when these morons will have to say Madame President…..

But until then I’m writing all of them and I have a looooooooong memory.

Comment by Dan R. | 2008-08-04 13:18:53

They haven’t. The GOP has been taking it easy on Barry so far because they want to make sure he’s the Democratic nominee. Once he’s been officially crowned in Denver, the gloves will come off in earnest.

Repubs don’t want to knock Obama out too early

Comment by Morgan | 2008-08-04 16:47:18

That is our feeling for sure, as a Republican myself. But I’m torn, this guy is sooo bad it’s dangerous, not funny. Hillary (I’m not a supporter) is just miles ahead professionally, patriotically, and presidentially. She would not turn the US into a laughing stock.

Man Obama stinks. Unreal.

Comment by John House | 2008-08-05 03:05:00

So then maybe Republicans should start to think of a real scenario where this “dangerous” guy actually gets ahold of the Oval Office. Would you rather that, or would you rather lose to a woman who would be “miles ahead professionally”, even if you don’t agree with her?

This is what we Democrats for McCain have done for you and your party; we recognize that McCain would be better than Obama. Perhaps it would be nice if you recognized that a loss to Hillary would be a more noble fight than a loss to a pathetic loser like Obama.

Comment by Ellen D. | 2008-08-04 16:51:29

Anyone believe this about Florida and Michigan from The Nation?

“But the delegates will not be voting for Clinton, as this is all about putting the pieces in place for Obama’s nomination by acclamation. (Clinton is telling bitter-ender supporters in behind-closed-doors meetings: “Look, what we want to have happen is for Senator Obama to be nominated by a unified convention of Democrats…)”

One more real fast comment before I get back to some other things here at the lab. The reason I am giving the guilty parties a few days is to see 1) if they even know their COLB was used 2) if they do know their COLB was used they can come clean and 3) to give others a chance to find the names on the COLB and post them before I do. A 3rd party finding the same information - particularly one who does not know me from Adam (teehee) - would be the final nail in the COLB’s coffin. I am not some sort of genius and there are many others who can do a much better job at this analysis but every time I try and let others step in they just sit on the sidelines and pick their noses.

So here is a challenge to those who want the name out there ASAP. To the first person to accurately reconstruct the names and text on the COLB and also include screen shots and a description on how they did it so that others can follow (before I post my results anyplace) I will send them to Vegas for the weekend and pay for the trip myself. (why you ask?….simply put I think we need to get other’s involved and an incentive never seemed to hurt in the past – and who does not love Vegas?.)

But they better hurry since I will be posting the full info (screen shots, methods, etc) very soon. Now is the time for all good geeks to come to the aid of their country and also win a trip to Vegas.

I feel your pain, Larry. But it’s too late. If Obama were to be denied the nomination at the convention, it would utterly enrage his coalition of “limousine liberals”, blacks, and college students. In particular, black Democrats would see this as yet another instance of “whitey” screwing them over. Not only would they riot in the streets of Denver, but they’d stay home in droves on Election Day and Hillary wouldn’t have a chance.

The superdelegates know this. They won’t be responsible for ripping the party apart two months before the election. They’ll take a deep breath and take their chances with Obama. After all, it’s not like he’s trailing McCain by 15 points or anything.

The fact is that the Dems have let the MoveOn.org crowd take over the party and now they’ve stuck you with another George McGovern. The best thing moderate and working class Democrats can do at this stage is suck it up, vote for McCain, use a Republican victory as the excuse to purge the Democratic party of its moonbat leftist elements, move it back towards the center, and set Hillary up for another run in 2012.

Comment by timepassages | 2008-08-04 13:26:36

I hate to say so, but I must agree with Dan, if they de crown Obama, even at the convention, there will be riots in the streets. Everything has been and will continue to be blamed on racism. Not the real facts that Obama is not quialifed. And if, he loses to McCain, it will be because America is racist. It is the catch all for everything that is said against Obama. I get emails everyday calling me a racist. Why ? Just because I oppose Obama…..I would love it if they would wake up and do the right thing and let hillary take her rightful place, but I don’t think they will. Beacuse many were paid, and others are to afraid to stand up for what is right, without being called a racist………

Please feel free to fight back. The DNC is in a bad place — either they PO the female vote or they PO black voters (and every old white Dem like me who feels the Clintons have cheapened the brand).

It’s unfortunate that we ended up with two “historical, breakthrough” candidates in the same year. Someone’s going to feel burned.

The sad thing is we’ll probably end up nuking them both. I doubt Obama will be back if he loses, and Hillary will be 65 in 2012, dragging a failed run and all of Bill’s baggage behind her. She’ll be our Bob Dole, the candidate who’s “owed” a shot…and I don’t have much hope for that scenario.

If anything, a McCain Presidency will drive the country WAY more left than Obama, anyway — so I expect we’ll be looking at newer, fresher talent in 2012.

Listen-this is not a Robert Mugabe tin-horn dictatarship. Obama and his band of wannabe Mugabe thugs will not and should not be able to intimidate our democracy. I say allow justice to prevail. Soros and the powers that be must be taught a lesson.

If AAs want to go down the road of violence-they will have to live with the consequences. Its time to take back our party.

Comment by mimi | 2008-08-05 10:44:37

Excuse me, but it’s his white supporters who have always threatened to riot and they’ve used AAs as cover for that due to our history of rioting in this country. Pay no mind to that idiot Doug Wilder, he’s an old man who will safely ensconced in his mansion if push comes to shove.

The young AA males in my community are not all that overtly bumped up over 0bama. Of course, they support 0bama over McCain for obvious reasons, but if he were to be denied the nomination, if they were to riot, the reasons would have more to do with exploiting an opportunity as well as the ongoing frustrations of AAs. Not because they are so madly in love with this man.

I resigned myself to his nomination. But I want him EXPOSED. The day after it’s official I want EVERYTHING to start coming out, so that 0bama will fade into oblivion.

Like many, I won’t be voting for another Democrat until the Party is purged of Dean, Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Kerry and Brazile.

I hope Kennedy knows he really fucked over his legacy with this stunt. He will always be remembered as the Kennedy who gave us Reagan and McCain.

Comment by Elizabeth Reilly | 2008-08-04 14:21:40

Riots in the streets? Doubtful, except for Sharpton, and his audience is growing smaller, not larger!
Riots? So what? They won’t last long because the attention span of college students isn’t that long and being some 13% of the population, blacks aren’t going to really have much of an impact on this election if Obama is out because women are over 50% of the vote and Hillary has them in spades! (No pun intended).
Do we give in because of threats of rioting and violence? I think we’re stronger than that and we cannot give in to such threats.

Comment by Dan R. | 2008-08-04 15:58:57

What??? Blacks may be “only 13% of the population” but 95% of them are gonna vote for Obama! Without them, McCain would be way ahead.

That’s 39,000,000 potential votes we’re talking about here. Even if just 10% of them stay home and don’t vote because they think they’ve been screwed out of the chance to see one of their own elected president by a few unelected (mostly white) superdelegates … and I think that 10% figure is likely way low … that’s nearly 4 million votes that Hillary won’t get.

That’s more than enough to throw the election to McCain, and then Hillary’s damaged goods from then on. Right or wrong, she’ll be blamed for splitting the party and costing it the White House in a year when everyone agreed that the Democrats simply couldn’t lose.

No, the best thing for Hillary supporters to do is vote for McCain this year and then have Hillary emerge as the savior to lead the party back in 2012. If Obama loses, many many Democrats will spend the next four years saying “Man, if we’d only nominated Hillary we’d have won.”

Comment by wry | 2008-08-04 17:47:46

that is not 39 million potential votes. The number of registered black voters is not the same as the population of blacks in the U.S.

I’m inclined to agree with Dan.R

Comment by mimi | 2008-08-05 10:53:41

I agree with Dan, too. This is why 0bama has to be EXPOSED.

A lot of people here are frustrated by the idea that the AA community seems to hold such power over the Dems, but you have to look at it differently. It’s also about smaller races as well as Hillary’s outlook longterm.

The best thing that could happen is for 0bama to be exposed on all fronts.

Comment by bert | 2008-08-04 15:06:36

timepassages and Dan R - no matter when or how Obama loses those of us who did not support him or vote for him will be called racist. And blacks will be upset and disappointed. Part of that will be because Obama has set race relations in this country back by at least 30 years by playing the race card.

Over at the Minority Report a few days ago (link below) they ran a satire of what a NYT editorial would say about an Obama defeat on Nov. 5th. While it is tongue-in-cheek like a lot of satire it manages to also shed light on how the media and others will play Obama’s eventual fall. The media will always be in the tank for him and will blame America first if he loses either the nomination or the election. I am begining to doubt they will ever see Obama’s faults and negatives let alone truthfully report on them. So bottom line is, I don’t care when it happens. Now or in November. He will be defeated one way or the other. Only question is……..when?????

All they will do is make themselves homesless as it is almost there anyway.

Not if he is legally not qualified to run for president due to his birth and citizenship status. That is why the COLB story needs the name of the woman who lent her birth certificate to BO to adapt (although I highly suspect it is his 1/2 sister) to get legs and move into MSM ASAP. If this can happen this week, starting today, as it is BO’s birthday (how appropriate), it will give SD’s a legitimate reason to nominate Hillary at the convention.

BILL CLINTON: I’m not. And I never was mad at Senator Obama. I think everybody’s got a right to run for president who qualifies under the Constitution. And I would be the last person to ever begrudge anybody their ambition. And he was a superbly gifted candidate in this election and had a great operation. They thought this thing through. And it’s a contact sport. And, you know, he hit her hard a couple times. And they hit us a few times and weeks before she ever responded in kind. This is what is going to happen should Obama get the nomination and loose this November. From now on, every black politican will come out of the wood works and run for president. They aren’t going to change the primary system. They will continue to use the same one, and the AA community will get their way eventually.

I say let him win the whole thing. Let him go down in History as WORSE than bush. Let him fall so bad that he is the laughing stock of the AA community. Comment by Skiron | 2008-08-04 14:30:57

Did you even read the article you cited? Jeez… First sentence even. “…among other reasons he’s supporting Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, is his belief that “it would be such an affirmation of who we say we are as a people. if we could elect an African-American president, young leader, who is obviously visionary about the ability to inspire people.”

As in, there’s many other reasons to vote for him, his stance against the Iraq war, his positions on the environment, health care, education, etc…but in addition to those, his unique background will help bridge divides with the oppressed in other countries, which will ultimately be to our benefit.

Comment by WildChild | 2008-08-04 14:38:14

yes (oops lost it. NO Wait! there it is) I can see how being raised among the elite would give BOBO a unique background to help bridge divides with the oppressed in other countries. LOL do you BOBOweenies ever step back and maybe think about the bullshit you say or do you just dream it up and then run run run here to post it?

Comment by Skiron | 2008-08-04 15:08:44

You have no idea what you’re talking about. I was in Tanzania three weeks ago. Just about every one of the locals I talked to was excited about Obama and his chances for the presidency. It can only help us with international relations, especially when it comes to fighting terrorism, to have a president who has the support of the common people in Muslim countries like Tanzania, because it can help undermine the ill will towards the US that groups like Al Qaida feed off of.

Comment by WildChild | 2008-08-04 15:19:03

So let me make sure I understand what you’re saying. You were in an African country and they were exited about an African American becoming the US president. Ummmmmmmmmm, (LMAO) did you alert the media to this unbelievable twist in human events or ah, LOL did they just laugh at you too?

Comment by Ferdberfle | 2008-08-04 15:21:11

Personally, I don’t care what Tanzanians think about our politics.

Comment by steven Mather | 2008-08-04 15:37:08

It means something, but not much in the broad scope of policy application. Most political figures, including Obama, can only be ill-defined conceptualizations to those who only see them as media caricatures, especially viewers in foreign lands. The goodwill you see is fickle at best because it only take a slight breeze of a contrary foreign policy application to blow it away.

Frankly, one would have to be incredibly naive to think Obama’s celebrity or genetic heritage means anything more than a sliver of significance with regard to foreign relations and negotiations, which concern substantive issues. Further, with regard to the war on terror, what could make a rational individual think that Obama’s presence will transform the mindsets of people with deeply held religious beliefs, such that it will create the possibility for new muslim/west vs. muslim alliances?

Comment by Skiron | 2008-08-04 15:59:25

You make some good points there. Some of the Tanzanians I spoke with did have some pretty high expectations, which are sure to come down to earth at some point. Like you say, an adverse foreign policy decision could make his support start to wane pretty quickly. But I think because of his background, he has a wider latitude than most for that. And, it’s difficult to think of a foreign policy decision he would take that would generate a big negative reaction. Maybe if he decides to invade a Muslim country a la Bush, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon.

You mean those positions, which like sand shift with the prevailing wind? Oh, you’re so right. Thanks for playing. A consolation prize awaits you in November.

Comment by no waffles aka drkate | 2008-08-04 15:45:04

ha! if he was all those things he would be winning hugely by now. Obama doesn’t have core beliefs–so none of what you say is anything obama will do.

what stance on the IRaq war? dissing the soldiers? Playing a Nazi in Germany?

obama is all puffery and no action. you know, its just words.

You should take your parroted Republican talking points over to Little Green Footballs. You’d fit right in there.

And your bacon has been frying too long.

This is Little Green Footballs, just with a smaller audience.

Perhaps you should read this one yourself - an article by Stanley Kurtz - why Obama won’t be building any ‘bridges’ with his ‘unique background’. It’s about his real agenda for running for POTUS;

Wow that was a bad thing to do by Kerry. What an idiot. Of course, it’s all because Barack had so much suppression and oppression in his life growing up in America. Another Dem leader who loves to bad mouth this country. He’s been doing it since before VietNam. What a loser and will it now be his turn under the bus? Will BoBo address this and have to say he doesn’t agree with Kerry? Is Kerry racist? Will Kerry get bounced from his Senate seat(Ihope,Ihope.)

“As the Dem Campaign Turns”. Tune in tomorrow for more great episodes and looney interviews. Yikes!

please don’t pin barky on blacks. They’ve voted as a group for a lot of white candidates too. They were some of Bill Clinton’s most loyal supporters at one time.

There are a lot of educated white people, mostly young, arrogant and clueless, who are keeping Barky’s campaign afloat. They are, and some cynical pols in CHI. and DC who wanted Bill and Hillary to go down.

Blacks have a right to be excited by the possibility of a (half) black man being president, even if Barky is the wrong man.

Comment by Hope | 2008-08-04 22:40:38

He’s not HALF black.

Comment by mimi | 2008-08-05 11:00:51

He is half black and half white!

He is biracial!

And thank you wry, for putting blame also with the his white liberal nutjobs. They’re the ones who keep up the racist meme. They’re disgusting!!!!

They are already ripped the party apart. And as for everyone else….well they will have to “get over it”.

1. I’ll be damned if I’ll give over my country on the threat of riots.

2. It’s true many superdelegates are currently suffering from a lack of courage. That can change.

3. Politics (and the universe, for that matter) is more dynamic than your comment suggests.

4. “The best thing moderate and working class Democrats can do at this stage” is …

“Always aim high, work hard, and care deeply about what you believe in. When you stumble, keep faith. When you’re knocked down, get right back up. And NEVER listen to anyone who says you can’t or shouldn’t go on.”
- Hillary Clinton

There is a good action item over at Alegre’s Corner right now re contacting the major pollsters suggesting they keep Senator Clinton’s name in the polls. Rationale and contacts are provided. Alegre’s Corner is top of the Blogroll in the right hand column of this web page.

I agree with Dan too unfortunately. I have not seen any evidence of courage in the Dem leadership, save Hillary, Bill, Sheila Jackson Lee, Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Michael Nutter and a few others. If they didn’t have the integrity to do the right thing in June, it will be revolutionary for them to do it in August, and they just do not have that kind of vision. If they are taking the Party down, I want to see them all pay the piper. Time to clean house.

Hillary, we’re still with you. Absolutely.

If the NEW democratic party is afraid of domestic terrorism in the streets if backtrack barack does not get the nomination, how could the be expected to fight international terrorism against the USA?
All my voting life I was a democrat and this the first time I saw such cowards in control.
THEY HAVE TO GO AND GO AWAY BIG TIME.
They have to be defeated in such a way that there will never be such cowards in charge again.

COUNTRY BEFORE PARTY ALWAYS

PUMAS AND BUBBAS RULE

I also don’t think the Republicans should be playing with the election.
They should not be choosing the Democratic nominee.
We have troops fighting a war, and the games that are being played regarding this election are very wrong.
On all sides.
