Legend has it that Freud once said: "Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar." LOL.

Herbert is a pathetic self-fellating dickhead. And so is that Eugene "I've-Got-a-Giant-ManCrush-on-Barack" Robinson.

Anyhow, someone posted this link above wherein John Stewart noticed other phallus related symbolism, namely Obama's "big black balls" and his arrogant tea-bagging of us all! Yikes!

Not to sound pompous here but Herbert is what we call a "pseudo-intellectual". Take his use of the term "phallic symbol". Rooted in a now-discredited Freudian theory of dream interpretation - anything longer than it is wide, and oriented more vertically than horizontally, could fit the bill. No need to limit yourself to towers (although Herbert does seem to have "seen" two towers that were not even in the ad - the Washington Monument and the Leaning Tower of Pisa) - a telephone pole in the background could suffice. Perhaps Herbert is transferring his need to see racism everywhere to "tower fixation".

It should be pointed out that Bob Herbert made some really-grotesquely amateurish mistakes in his phallic obsessed diatriabe:

1. The Leaning Tower of Piza is not use in the McCain Britney-Paris ad.

2. The Washington Monument was not either.

The giant penis that Herbert fantasized about was actually the Siegessäule, or Victory Column. "The monument was built in 1864 to commemorate Prussia's victory over Denmark. When it was inaugurated, Prussia had defeated Austria during the Austro-Prussian war in 1866 and the Franco-Prussian war of 1870-71."

Herbert has seriously damaged himself. Talk about a dickhead.

Clinton Fan wrote: "That eleven point spread is fungible. Plenty of people in MA are simply lying to pollsters because they don’t want to be dealt a race card."

In the past, one might say that people who lied to pollsters vis-a-vis the "Bradly-Wilder effect" were slightly racist on top of being afraid of being seen as racist.

HOWEVER, FOR OBAMA, THERE'S A NEW PARADIGM: THOSE WHITES WHO WOULD LIE TO POLLSTERS ARE NOT RACIST AT ALL, BUT MERELY ARE AFRAID OF BEING SEEN AS RACIST. TRUTH IS, OBAMA'S FLIP-FLOPPING IS NOW AT EPIC PROPORTIONS. NO ONE CAN ACCUSE MAYOR TOM BRADLEY OR VIRGINIA GOV. DOUGLAS WYLDER OF SUCH A THING. AND WORSE, THEY DIDN'T REPEATEDLY & BLATANTLY RACE BAIT, PRE-EMPTIVELY SAYING GARBAGE LIKE: "BY THE WAY, DID YOU I MENTION THAT HE WAS BLACK?"

Nor did they ever say "TYPICAL WHITE PERSON".

Nor did they ever accuse working class whites who don't vote for them of being: "bitter... clinging to ANTIPATHY towards those that are NOT like them... ANTIPATHY TOWARDS IMMIGRANTS." (RACIST OR NOT, NOBODY LIKES TO BE CALLED A "RACIST". AND THOSE THAT ARE NOT RACIST HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE PISSED OFF AT BEING LUMPED IN WITH RACIST.)

Nor did Bradley and Wilder ever defend a degenerate (reverse) racist like Jeremiah Wright who said "Bill Clinton did us like he did Monica!" WTF?!? When did Bill Clinton screw over the black community?!? Bill's policies enabled 22,000,000 poor people to enter the ranks of the middle class, many of whom were black. Under Bush43, 1 MILLION people have sunk back into poverty.

As well all know, Jeremiah also race-baited and gender-baited the Hell out of our girl, Hillary. He verbally brutalized her and Bill.

For working class whites, Bill and Hillary are a known quantity: Eight glorious years of unprecedented peace and prosperity. The Clinton-Gore administration is probably the most honest of all time: Only about a half a dozen officials were indicted and convicted of corruption. I can't remember the exact number, but there were at least 10-20 times more people indicted and convicted under Ronald Reagan and Bush 41. Perhaps much more than that! Funny how the corporate media always portrays Clinton-Gore as corrupt, but Reagan-Bush as paragons of virtue.

Further, for working class whites, that whole $70 Million Ken Starr episode was nothing more than a rightwing political assassination attempt at a damn good President.

Obama is an unknown quantity, or rather was. Now he is increasingly seen a degenerate flip-flopping race-baiter. And a arrogant one at that.

When the Obama-Bradley-Wilder effect kicks in, and it will, Obama will need more than an 11 point cushion to win. What a friggin' loser.

I agree that there is definite value to longitudinal surveys. I guess it depends on what you are trying to accomplish with your survey. I think they are very effective in many scientific studies where you study a phenomenon over time. I will have to do some research to figure out the efficacy of longitudinal polling though. I must admit that it is something that I am not completely comfortable discussing as my areas of study are science and education and I prefer experimental data to survey laden data but in education we do lots of surveys.

The big O stands for zero. McCain should use that O in an ad.... summing up Obama's accomplishment = zero(O).

here is the script...
Obama's change adds up to zero....
He changes from one positions to another and back..
His record adds up to zero....
Obama = Zero change (0)

Juan is comfortable in his own skin--a secure man. You feel it and know it when you are in his presence. I can't even imagine him thinking like Bob Herbert or calling anyone a racist if they disagreed with him or even said they didn't like him. If Juan was running, I would vote for him in a minute. Not Obama, never, ever.

Thanks. I was thinking that there is significant longitudinal value to polling the same group through time, though they would need to add young ones to replenish the youth category.

I appreciate that new surveys limit evolutionary biases in the results.

What if McCain is actually leading by say a 55-45 margin or 57-43 margin nationally? What if in all the key battleground states McCain really has a huge lead? What is the effect of dishonest pollsters having on our electoral cycles?
