So the other day, John Kerry helped celebrate The One’s birthday (oh wait -dadgummit - that has now been labeled “racist,” too!!!). OK - do over - Monday night, Senator Kerry helped Obamessiah celebrate his 47th birthday. Kerry said,
“I asked Barack Obama what he wanted for his birthday. He said, ‘Indiana, Colorado and Virginia,’ ” said Kerry, referring to three potential swing states Obama hopes to win in the Nov. 4 election.
Wow - that’s all he wants? And what is a possible way, at least in their minds, that this might happen?? Well, if they chose EVAN Bayh as Obama’s running mate, they think that might just get them Indiana. You remember Evan Bayh - the big HILLARY supporter. Yes, there is a big ol’ meeting tonight in Indiana, one SO important that Evan Bayh canceled a BASEBALL game - a game that was supposed to be played last night. Whatever. Anywho - my question is: why would we (PUMAs and those who Just Say No Deal be any more swayed by Obama picking someone who was staunchly in Hillary’s camp? It’s not like we, or should I say, I, will go, “Well, heckfire - if BAYH is okay with Obama, then I guess I should be, too.” Nope. For me, it is more like, “Wow, Evan - what a turncoat!! I cannot believe you are so buddy-buddy with Obama! So much for loyalty! How COULD you??” Or something along those lines.
Anyway, there is supposed to be a big To-Do in Indiana tonight, and there is MUCH speculation that this is going to be the big day for Bayh. Even though His Royal Highness will be taking off for Hawaii in a couple of days for vacation. And Hillary will be stumping for him (do NOT even get me started on that, except to say, ARGH!). So could this be Bayh’s big day? Maybe. And next, would Obama then get his birthday wish of Colorado, Indiana, and Virgina? The super delegates are so worried about the AA backlash in Denver that they fail to see the backlash if Obama loses in the biggest landslide in history. What we will see is a complete breakdown in race relations as the AA will be embarrassed by such a loss and then blame it on racism.

I live in Washington state and I hate to say it but it will probably go blue in November. There’s a bunch of hippie, socialist/Marxists up here just like in Oregon. So I don’t, in all honesty think those states will go with McCain UNLESS all those bitter, hard working, gun totin’ folks (you know I’m just kidding, right?) on the east side of the mountains of Washington and Oregon (mostly Republican) go for McCain. Seattle is in King County which I think is one of the biggest Democratic voting blocs in Washington state. Idiots!

We used to live in Silverdale, WA (loved the Kitsap Peninsula). Seattle and Tacoma will most certainly go for Obama.
Then there is Eastern Washington — and that part of the state WON’T vote for Obama.

If the choice is Obama or McCain — I’ll have to vote against Obama.
Right now there are no political signs for the Prez race (except for a couple of Obamabots) — I’ve never seen such a non show of political signs. The biggest race seems to be for JUDGES?????????????
Silverdale and the Kitsap peninsula have a high concentration of military (Navy) — both active duty and retired. This population won’t be voting Obama — McCain will be the choice.

I see a backlash coming to Washington state. I think the governor’s re-election is going to play a role. If you look at our primaries, Obama and Hillary were very close. There’s a lot of discontent here, Democrats unhappy with the governor and Democrats unhappy with the DNC treatment of Hillary. I think it’s possible we’re not going to be as strongly blue as usual.

I like the maps. Reminds me that the 18.5M Clinton voters is far more than the number of black voters in the counter–even if they all vote and even if they all vote for the Dear Leader. Even allowing so folks sitting out and all, I think it is clear that Clinton voters cancel out the black vote. College students are notoriously poor voters, another hit against Obama. McCain’s going to get older voters who, on the other hand, do vote well. In the middle, white and hispanic male voters and a lot of military veterans and folks from small towns who like religion and guns. Despite the media hype, I remain confident that should the Dems insist on picking Obama he’ll be another spectacular loser in the fall like too many others the Democrats pick to lose with.

I would imagine you’d find more people voting against Obama than for McCain and that is especially true in our party.
I am voting against Obama - That means I’m voting for McCain. It doesn’t mean I agree with McCain or his policies, it means I’m making sure my vote counts against Obama to make sure he never becomes President. It will be the first time in my life I’ve ever voted for a Republican.
Also adding, I’m voting against any Democrat in my state who supports Obama. It’s time to clean house and get these traitors OUT. It’s time to take the Democratic Party BACK and prepare for Hillary in 2012!!!

No Quarter does not endorse McCain. That being said, No Quarter is not afraid to have positive comments made about him here (at least from what I have seen). I do not speak for No Quarter, though - I took that line directly from soneone who DOESL SusanUnPC in a previous post (you can do a search on it above and see where they stand).
There is still a Convention for the Dem. nominee at the end of this month, so until that time, I assume No Quarter will maintain that stance.
And no, I won’t endorse McCain, either. I ave respect for him - something I cannot say abt Obama, but I do not plan to vote for him. A lot depends on if my state allows write-ins or not, and if it will COUNT, as opposed to being registered as a “No Vote.”

On voting for McCain; anyone who puts Charlton Heston in an ad cracking on Pampers scores major points with me. Though I would have preferred that he used the moment when Joshua tells Moses, “Stand up on the rock so the people can see you and have hope!” But I won’t split hairs with Johnny over that. You are spot on about Hillary’s upcoming voter registration rallies — they are just a way for people to be reminded of how wonderful she truly is.
The McCain people are just asking for trouble if they keep running negative attack ad after negative attack ad. All the Obama people would need to do to blow John out of the water would be to televise an ad featuring the high points of John McCain’s speech at the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. In a couple of places the guy comes across like Mr. Magoo Gone Wild.

Then there’s John’s nuclear power promotional visit to the Fermi 2 reactor plant. That should at least provide material for a Mad TV comedy skit. The only worse places John might have picked to deliver that message would probably have been Three Mile Island or Chernobyl. (What happened at the Fermi 1 fast-breeder reactor in October, 1966, is played down by the industry as a minor incident. There was a partial core melt-down. We could have lost Detroit.)
So, where’s John McCain’s judgement?
Fortunately for McCain the Obama campaign has so far shown commendable retraint. But if the McCain people keep pushing the negative portrayals of Obama rather than sticking to factual criticism, they’re going to regret it. The Obama people would employ better timing. Like about two weeks before the election.
Oh don’t worry, Barky is running his own negative campaign against himself, all McCain has to do is point out the obvious.

There is nothing commendable about Obama.
In June, after signaling opposition to nuclear power, he told Democratic governors he’s open to expanding it.
Obama’s biggest single source of corporate associated money, in excess of $200,000, comes from executives and employees at Exelon Corp., the nation’s largest nuclear power provider, and its subsidiary, Commonwealth Edison, an Illinois utility.
Obama is a liar and low-life.

Oil and gas industry executives and employees donated $1.1 million to McCain during June 2008–three-quarters of which came right after his June 16 speech calling for an end to the offshore drilling ban. Compare the June total with $116,000 from the industry in March, $283,000 in April and $208,000 in May.
There’s no cause-and-effect relationship there, of course. McCain’s change of position and the big chunk of change his campaign pocketed immediately thereafter was pure coincidence.
Just as McCain’s 2003 favors to the telecom industry and their $200,000 contribution to his “Reform Institute” were purely coincidental.

It doesn’t particularly bother me that Obama voted for the Energy Policy Act of 2005. He voted the same as more than half of all democrats in the Senate.
Lots of people might have voted differently, had they seen 2008 fuel prices coming or the extent of Big Oil profits.
Just like lots of people would have voted differently on Bush’s crack-brained invasion of Iraq, had they known his administration was lying and had they seen the future.
I can’t quite see how BOBO going along with the crowd would somehow comfort you into believing he is some sort of change we can believe in. Caving to the Bush administration is certainly part of the politics of the past that BOBO talks the talk about on the campaign trail. Yet instead of actually showing us this hypothetical change, BOBO votes for Cheney’s energy plan, Bush’s telecom immunity pacakage and my guess is since BOBO said that his position on Iraq wasn’t all that different from Bush’s back before the war, BOBO would have also voted for authorization had he been in the Senate. We hear the talk but at vote time BOBO doesn’t show us the walk. It’s like the Pastor wright told us, BOBO says what he has to say. LOL and you BOBOweeines eat it up like it’s three nutritious squares a day. But there was never anything on your plate. It is as empty as are your minds and your souls.
I suggest that you make a vote by vote comparison between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama throughout the entire time that Barack Obama has been in the U.S. Senate. Those couple of bills you love to fixate on–FISA and the 2005 Energy Policy Act–are rare exceptions to voting records that are otherwise identical. And in the case of those rare exceptions, over one-half of all democratic senators voted the same as Barack Obama.
Then check John McCain’s votes for the same time frame. (When he even bothered to vote, of course. John McCain tops the list for most votes missed of any prominent senator, either democrat or republican. He’s voted less than half the time throughout the 110th Congress. Assertions that Obama has missed over half of his votes are bogus. That distortion is based only upon a narrow two-month period that coincided with a period of heavy campaigning.) Those occasions when McCain voted the same as Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are rare. McCain voted in line with Bush policy 95% of the time.

I’m aware of their voting record. I used it to support many arguments when dealing with the rabid BOBOweenie back during the primaries. All the anger and the rage at Hillary made no sense to me. What did matter was the one vote we couldn’t compare and that was her vote on the use of force resolution. He wasn’t there to make that vote. On a side note during that time I never used the argument like you have that “hey everyone else was jumping off the bridge so it was OK that Hillary did”. That’s the argument common children or adults with an empty mind or empty soul use. The behavior of the herd never justifies an individual behavior. But enough on that. Hillary was tarred for one vote. She was labeled a neo-con because of one vote. She was hated as a republican bu you people because of one vote. It wasn’t new. It started years before the primary started. All that rage over one vote. Now suddenly you want to say she and BOBO are almost alike i ntheir voting records. But are they? BOBO said he opposed telecom immunity, but he voted for it. BOBO is now talking like he opposed Cheney’s energy BIll…. but he voted for it. BOBO says he opposes the war but back before the war he said his position on Iraq wasn’t all that different from Bush’s. Form what BOBO has been doing lately, I can’t see how he would have voted against the use of force resolution. BOBO travels with the herd. That’s why he a Hillary are not the same. Hillary defended her vote on the use of force resolution and has yet to back down form it. She didn’t grovel and beg for forgiveness. She wouldn’t apologize. That vote cost her the nomination. Hillary will actually stand for something even when it hurts her, even when it costs her. We’ve yet to see BOBO do anything even close to that, and I don’t think we ever will. So no, they are not alike. At their individual core, they’re not even close.

I know McCain strongly opposed the 2008 GI Bill, then failed to show up to vote on it.
I know McCain also skipped the vote on FISA altogether.

Obama missed the most votes of any Dem presidential hopeful in the Senate in the last period of 2007, including a vote on an Iran resolution he blasted Hillary for supporting.
He missed 80% of all votes from September 2007 to November 2007.
Obama missed a resolution that declared the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization. He criticized Hillary for voting for it.
He missed voting on a Democratic priority, the expansion of the federally funded State Children’s Health Insurance Program and a resolution condemning MoveOn.org for running an ad in the NYT attacking Gen. Petraeus.
Take this back to your crew and rewrite the script.
Well, that just takes my breath away ziggy. You have just given me so much, I don’t know where to begin. Did you create this apology for Obama or copy it from another source? Can we begin with the fact it doesn’t bother you? No, that speaks for itself and there is so much more. Average homeowners can’t afford to pay for the home improvements you are talking about. Do you own your own home, have a job making less than $100k a year? Did you know this bill was written by Cheney and energy lobbyists behind closed doors and Cheney has refused to make public even the names of those at the meetings? Did you know it included $6 bil. in subsidies to Exxon Mobile and other oil companies and $9 bil to the nuclear power industries ( I could write much more here about the connection Obama has there). Are you aware how many times he has criticized this very bill during the primaries?

In what way has this reduced dependence on foreign oil? And tax breaks for hybrid cars? Yeah, if you can afford to buy a new car, the US trade deficit hit a record high of 817.3 billion dollars in 2006, up from 767.5 billion dollars in 2005. You clearly do not know what you are talking about and haven’t bothered to research. Oh, and don’t try to confuse this issue with the Iraq vote. This was done in secret and it remains a secret. There is no doubt in my mind Obama would have voted for the resolution on Iraq. He would not have done anything as politically risky as vote against it. If we have learned nothing else about him over the last few months, that much is clear. You are a cretin. It’s always better to keep your mouth shut when you are uninformed.

I don’t particularly like the 2005 Energy Bill. I’ve mentioned that in here several times, in other threads. I’ve also posted references to the bill that detail a long list of criticisms. I’m aware there was plenty to be critical about. Yes, Obama cast a vote that on the whole I didn’t like. Along with over half of his fellow democrats. And damn, he cast another vote I don’t like. FISA, of course. Along with a lot of other democrats.
You seem baffled and angry that I’m not disillusioned. What you’re missing is that I didn’t have illusions in the first place. I don’t expect any politician to be a perfect expression of my opinions 100% of the time. There is no such politician.
What I’m doing is comparing the available candidates, vote by vote, point by point, policy by policy. When I’ve done that–Surprise! John McCain is a republican! 95% of the time he’s voted with Bush policy, and on the things most important to me he’s still pushing Bush policy. And Obama is a democrat; the great majority of the time votes like one. His voting record is almost identical to Hillary Clinton’s. He promotes the same policies as Hillary Clinton. Apparently I’m not going to have the opportunity to actually vote for Hillary Clinton, so…
If you get entirely away from policy and votes and compare people, I suppose I can’t argue with those who just don’t like Barack Obama. He punches the wrong buttons with a lot of voters. A lot of voters seem to have a great many buttons to be punched.
I don’t play that game. For one thing, I don’t have a strong personal dislike for John McCain. I just dislike his votes and his policy. I don’t think his economic plan makes any sense. I believe he’s locked into a paradigm that’s time has passed. I worry about his quickness and the reliability of his judgement, given the extreme stresses of the presidency, his age, and his mental status.
