Senator Hillary Clinton recently ripped into George Bush’s Plan to change hospital regulations to define certain types of contraception as “abortion”.
The draft proposal written by the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), which began circulating around Capitol Hill this week, would require hospitals receiving federal funds to hire medical personnel who oppose forms of contraception including birth control pills.
But Democratic critics including Clinton warn that the Bush administration changes would have “damaging” consequences on women’s ability to access birth control.
“The more I learn about these rules by the Bush administration, the more appalled I am and the more determined I am to stop them,” Clinton said.
I would like to know why the presumed presidential candidate has had nothing significant to say about this issue, nor has he actively fought publicly against it. But then again, judging from his behavior during the primaries, I wouldn’t be the least bit surprised if he thinks it’s just a grand idea to keep women barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen. And since this plan would affect the poorest among us the most, I am sure that Barky Obama cares even less, since his idea of poor is finding it a bit more difficult to pay for those piano lessons and that private school his daughters attend.
The New York senator argued that the proposal would “allow health-care providers to classify many forms of contraception as abortions and therefore refuse to provide contraception to women who need it,” — even when state laws guarantee it.
New York, for example, is one of 14 states with laws guaranteeing women’s access to emergency contraception, but Clinton warned that the new proposal could change that, leaving sexual assault victims helpless.
Barky, I was wondering if a member of YOUR superior family were raped by some piece of crap thug, would you THEN be a bit more indignant? Or would you just circumvent the law just for yourself because you are The One? I recall you saying that you wouldn’t want one of your daughters to be “punished” with a baby. Jason Furman and Austin Goolsbee published Hillary Clinton’s tax plan in the WSJ today. Apparently, white men weren’t buying Obama’s signature voodoo taxation (”the donut plan.”) So, now we’re going to return to the 90’s economic model.

They said President Clinton’s 1993 deficit-reduction plan would wreck the economy. Eight years and 23 million new jobs later, the economy proved them wrong. Now they are making the same claims about Sen. Obama’s tax plan, which has even lower taxes than prevailed in the 1990s — including lower taxes on middle-class families, lower taxes for capital gains, and lower taxes for dividends.
Sen. Obama believes that responsible candidates must put forward specific ideas of how they would pay for their proposals. That is why he would repeal a portion of the tax cuts passed in the last eight years for families making over $250,000. But to be clear: He would leave their tax rates at or below where they were in the 1990s.
- The top two income-tax brackets would return to their 1990s levels of 36% and 39.6% (including the exemption and deduction phase-outs). All other brackets would remain as they are today.
- The top capital-gains rate for families making more than $250,000 would return to 20% — the lowest rate that existed in the 1990s and the rate President Bush proposed in his 2001 tax cut. A 20% rate is almost a third lower than the rate President Reagan set in 1986.
- The tax rate on dividends would also be 20% for families making more than $250,000, rather than returning to the ordinary income rate. This rate would be 39% lower than the rate President Bush proposed in his 2001 tax cut and would be lower than all but five of the last 92 years we have been taxing dividends.
- The estate tax would be effectively repealed for 99.7% of estates, and retained at a 45% rate for estates valued at over $7 million per couple. This would cut the number of estates covered by the tax by 84% relative to 2000.

Obama comes across as compassionless to me. He seems to have separated himself and his “sphere” of people from “other” human beings.
When he refers to Hillary supporters, for example, we are called “those people”. He just lumps people into groups and categories. American voters are numbers and polls to him, nothing more.
That is why he steals others ideas and plans. They unwittingly test them out for him by putting their plans out to the public, if the plan or idea seems to poll well he will adopt them as his ideas and positions.

Absolutely. Hillary has not missed a beat since returning to her Senate seat. Before running for Prez, she was ranked at 4 in the list of hardest-working Senators and she is still at it.
This is one of the reasons why HRC will always, always, be a major force in American politics and someone with a brilliant record in her past AND her future. Her failed presidential bid in no way diminishes any of that. The same was true of John Kerry, whatever we may think of him now, and Biden, and Dodd.
With Obama, it’s very different.If he loses this big gamble, that’s it for him. He’s shot his wad. He’s got no accomplishments to fall back on, no record to point to and say “this is what I did,” no brilliant senatorial career to return to. This is it for him. Done, over, out. What does he do after this? Make a lot of pretty speeches for big bucks? Write another fake autobiography?
All well and good, but nothing compared to what Hillary has done or will do. And she can still run again. He can’t. This is it for him.
