Original Emails Between Delegate Sacha Millstone and Colorado Democratic Party

[SusanUnPC's Note: Next Tuesday (August 18th), DCMediaGirl will interview Sacha Millstone on her NoQuarter Radio program, "Hour of Power," at 10:30 p.m. ET. As always, an archived copy of the show will be available at NQR (aka No Quarter Radio).]

………………………..

Frequent No Quarter writer Bud White contacted Sacha Millstone, the Hillary Clinton delegate who displeased the Democratic Party by having the audacity to privately express doubts about Barack Obama to another delegate.

Ms. Millstone was concerned that it was implied that she did not respond to the letter sent to her by the Political Director of Colorado’s Democratic Party, William Thompson. Ms. Millstone stated that this was not true and forwarded all pertinent emails to Bud White.

Ms. Millstone also says that the Denver and Colorado Democratic Party leaders involved did not respond to her email, nor did they respond to her lawyer’s letter. In order to clarify, Ms. Millstone has asked that we publicize all actual correspondences involved.

I have XX’d out email addresses so that the parties involved are not harassed in any way. We all understand first-hand what people are capable of. Also please note that one of the original story links — to the “Denver Post” — which was used in the story, is no longer available and clicking on it yields an “Access Denied” page. In order to avoid conspiracy theories, please note that while all things are possible, it is also possible that there was too much traffic to the story and they decided to deny access to it. The Denver Channel 7 Investigative Report page, however, is still standing and open to readers. This is the article that also includes the video of Ms Millstone. Correspondences between Ms. Millstone and a Denver Post reporter (denied story link) are also included below. :

Here is the email sent to Sacha Millstone by William Compton, Political Director of the Colorado Democratic Party:

Subject: Urgent Matter

Importance: High

Dear Ms. Millstone:

A complaint has been filed with the Colorado Democratic Party, by a fellow Democratic National Convention delegate, regarding your position as a Delegate to the National Convention in light of the disparaging public remarks you have made and continue to make regarding our Party’s presumptive nominee for President, Sen. Obama. Therefore, you are hereby directed to come in to the Party Headquarters and explain your comments and why you should remain a national delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention in light of these comments. I can be reached at XXX-XXX-XXXX. Your immediate attention to this urgent matter is requested.

Sincerely,

William C. (Billy) Compton

Political Director

Colorado Democratic Party

Dear Mr. Compton,

I am in Florida taking a professional training and exams this week. Frankly, I was stunned when I received your email. I have not responded until now as I have been seeking the advice of many people whose counsel I think is important. I am still in the process of talking to a number of people about the best way to respond.

I will get back to you early next week.

Sincerely,

Sacha Millstone

Sacha Millstone, infuriated at Mr. Compton’s intimidating email, also hired an attorney, who also responded to Mr. Compton with the following letter:

Sent: Thursday, August 7, 2008 8:56:00 PM

Subject: Sacha Millstone

Dear Mr. Compton,

I am representing Ms. Sacha Millstone regarding the matter addressed in your email of Tuesday, August 5th, 2008 (included below). Because your email is not exactly clear on why Ms. Millstone is being summoned to the Party’s headquarters, I would like to ask you for a few things:

1) Please send me a copy of the complaint that was filed against Ms. Millstone.

2) Please provide me with the relevant rules that allow you to threaten Ms. Millstone’s removal from the Colorado Delegation to the DNCC.

3) Please provide me with the relevant rules that require Ms. Millstone to explain her comments and justify why she should remain a national delegate.

Once we have had the chance to review these materials, we will be able to respond to your email more fully. Please direct all further comments or inquiries to me. If you have any further questions or comments, I can be reached at (XXX) XXX-XXXX.

Sincerely,

Aubrey L. Ardema

Ms. Millstone also emailed the Denver Post reporter who covered the story to clarify that she did indeed respond to Compton. Below are the correspondences between them.

From: Sacha Millstone [mailto:XXXXX@XXXXX]
Sent: Tue 8/12/2008 10:54 PM
To: Sherry, Allison
Subject: RE: Sacha Millstone contact or attorney?

Allison,

I did want to correct one thing. Pat Waak says I never responded to Compton’s email letter, but I did and I am forwarding the two responses, one from me and one from my attorney, to you so you can see that I did. My attorney asked for information so we could prepare for a meeting. The Colorado Dem Party never responded to either of those two emails from us.

Best,

Sacha

Allison of the Denver Post responded with the following email:

Subject: RE: Sacha Millstone contact or attorney?

Hi Sacha,

Thanks for the copy of the letter. When I asked Waak about it, she says she “didn’t know anything about it.” Has Susan Greene reached out to you?

Was Happy to see Fox news was covering this story this morning. I emailed them a link regarding this issue and I am sure they got flooded from all of us! I also emailed the story regarding the school registration of Barry. If everyone would copy the link from here relating to that story maybe we can make the media cover this as well!!! Our movement is astonishing and I am proud to be a PUMA!!!!!

Comment by AR | 2008-08-18 16:40:52

I am a Hillary supporter and am still not totally comfortable Obama leading our country. But I am getting there and will vote for the party. I think this has all gotten out of hand! I think Mr. Compton was doing what he was supposed to do and following the rules of the party. He was supporting the party for goodness sakes. Has anyone asked him whom he supports instead of just deciding he supports Obama? With all of these Democrats out here saying they will vote for McCaine, can you blame them for wanting to talk to her? And why would this woman not want to step up to the plate and speak to them instead of hiring an attorney? Let’s face it people, Hillary is not going to be our president! And what a lot of these supporters of Hillary’s aren’t understanding is that by doing the things they are doing, they are splitting the party, making the party look bad and making Hillary look bad (Because she could stop all of this and she hasn’t). This also will not look good for her in 4 years. And let’s not forget that some of these “PUMA’s” are not Democrats but Repulicans out there trying to tear our party apart! So come on people, let’s act like adults and get a Democrat in the White House. It won’t be Hillary this time but if we really unite as a party, it could be in 4 years!

Comment by cc | 2008-08-14 18:42:59

all I can say is I PRAY the dem party goes down in FLAMES! They are the biggest losers on the face of the planet…and now they’re just a big bunch of fascists too. I’m disgusted by the these strong arm tactics…they should be asking what’s wrong with their candidate that makes NO ONE want to support him!

Comment by kavala007 | 2008-08-14 18:47:35

Well said cc, well said.

Comment by vinnie | 2008-08-14 19:16:58

I couldn’t agree more. I am angry and ashamed that this party had me fooled for this long. Sacha did the right thing by contacting a lawyer. These party fools think that we’re all a bunch of gun totting, hicks who can easily be intimidated. For that, I give them both of my middle fingers. Instead of bullying two delegates, they should be worried about their fraud of a candidate named Barry Soetoro. My protest vote will go McCain and all the way down ticket.

Comment by wodiej | 2008-08-14 19:47:06

it is wasted energy trying to discuss the many reasons why Obama is not fit for President. They are just like him that is why they are supporting him. They think rules are made to be broken, it is ok to be sexist and degrade women and call them bithces and ho’s. They think it is ok to cheat, intimidate, bully and lie. There is no moral compass there. God is watching.

Comment by elise | 2008-08-14 23:23:54

God isn’t the only one watching, wodie. The latest polls in Colorado for senator, Mark Udall(D) and Bob Shaffer(R) show a tie. Two weeks ago, Udall was leading by double digits. Obama has to win Colorado and this kind of publicity will BRING HIM DOWN!

Comment by s. hall | 2008-08-14 21:35:42

cc — They are living in a fool’s paradise and anyone who tells the truth is banished. I can’t believe this is the Democratic Party I knew and loved.

Comment by Linda K | 2008-08-14 23:34:33

Agree as well. I’m voting Republican in the hopes that with a big enough loss the Dean Cabal will finally be ousted and he, Donna, Nancy, et.al. will just be a memory in the resonance of time.

The Colorado Democratic Party would like Boulder delegate Sacha Millstone, who is devoted to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, to give up her spot as a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, reports Allison Sherry.

Party officials said Monday that they won’t insist Millstone resign. But in an e-mail last week, Billy Compton, state political director of the Colorado Democratic Party, ordered Millstone into his office to explain disparaging comments she made about Barack Obama.

Compton said the party had received a complaint about Millstone from another delegate.

“You are hereby directed to come in to the party Headquarters and explain your comments and why you should remain a national delegate to the 2008 Democratic National Convention in light of these comments,” the letter said.

Millstone, who has hired a lawyer, was infuriated.

“Isn’t there a right to free speech? Isn’t this right in line with our time-honored tradition with the Dems?” she said. “These intimidation tactics have a chilling effect on people feeling comfortable speaking up.”

Millstone’s lawyer wrote Compton asking for the rules that allow the party to threaten removal from the state delegation.

State party officials said Monday that the issue has been dropped.

“We wanted to explore with Ms. Millstone the possibility of her voluntarily resigning her position,” Compton said. “I simply wanted to discuss the matter with her.”

This week’s back and forth underscores the escalating tension across the country among Clinton delegates.

Most loyal to Clinton say they simply want their vote for her to count at the convention, and then they’ll get behind Obama before his acceptance speech at Invesco Field on Aug. 28.

“It’s inevitable within a party of this size that there will be different views about the merits of the candidates that the parties put forward,” said Daniel Kagan, a delegate representing Denver.

Kagan, who is circulating a petition among delegates nationally to get Clinton’s name on the convention ballot, said it’s “autocratic” of the party to force support of one candidate.

“It’s ludicrously overambitious and an unattractive goal,” he said.

Though Clinton could agree for her name to appear on the ballot, party insiders say that is unlikely.

A delegate from Wisconsin, Debra Bartoshevich, was kicked off her state’s delegation after she vowed to support Republican presidential front runner Sen. John McCain when Clinton suspended her campaign.

Natalie Wyeth, a spokeswoman for the Democratic National Convention Committee, said she was unaware of any other such cases.

Obama campaign spokeswoman Shannon Gilson issued a statement Monday saying it was the campaign’s “priority to ensure Ms. Millstone’s delegate status was not in jeopardy.”

State Democratic Party chair Pat Waak, who said it would be nice to have a united delegation when 50,000 conventioneers arrive in Colorado, called the Millstone matter “moot.”

“We’re getting too near the convention, and she’s refused to come in,” Waak said.

Any effort to intimidate Clinton supporters won’t work, at least not on at-large Clinton delegate Sonya Jaquez Lewis, who lives in unincorporated Boulder County.

“It makes me angry,” Jaquez Lewis said. “It makes me want to now really be even louder about issues and concerns that before I was willing to look the other way.”

Sacha Millstone of Boulder has hired a lawyer after a Democratic Party e-mail ordered her to come to headquarters and explain disparaging remarks she made about Barack Obama. “There’s absolutely no truth to it whatsoever,” Cifrino told FOXNews.com. “Colin Powell will not be at either convention. There’s absolutely no truth to this.”

And Powell said this yesterday.

“I do not have time to waste on Bill Kristol’s musings,” Powell told ABC News. “I am not going to the convention. I have made this clear.”

How many of them are there again? Don’t bother to answer. There are less of them than there are seniors. And those old folks all hate barky. Guess you will just have to gas them, right junior?

Let me guess. your parents pay for your food, your car, your cell phone, the house taxes, your dumbed down college, and pretty much everything else while you pretend to be “upscale”. And you think you ought to pick a president.

Comment by Dritches | 2008-08-14 19:10:24

Is this the game you play?

Comment by Perry Logan | 2008-08-14 19:12:06

Obama is losing the youth vote.

A recent ABC News/Washington Post survey reveals the first nugget of alarming news for Team Obama. As Obamania reached its frenzied pinnacle in March, fully 66 percent of voters 18-29 told pollsters they were “certain” to cast ballots in November. By late July, that figure dropped by a whopping 20 percentage points, with less than half of the youth vote still vowing to go to the polls this fall.

A freshly minted Zogby poll that grabbed headlines by highlighting a dramatic McCain comeback in the overall data also features a fascinating youth vote tidbit: “McCain gained 20% and Obama lost 16% among voters ages 18-29. Obama still leads that group, 49%-38%.”

lol Thank you for the link. The college students here in Southern CA are apparently very fickle. The very minute Obama flipped on FISA I stopped hearing the chants/chatter. I live really close to two campuses and a third is not much further away. Then when he flipped on NAFTA it wasn’t a day I saw them walking around in berets with camouflage shirts on chanting/chattering for Ron Paul to run as an Independent. Talking about protesting, saying Paul is the only candidate that stands behind the constitution 110 percent. Apparently the Roe V Wade threat didn’t hold for long.

No known YOUTH would say such a thing.

You are a bulging red rolls of fat spilling out your tighty whitey collar Rove-bot.

The RNC used the NYC police as their personal bouncers during the rethug convention in 2004, and they scooped up entire streets of both protesters and pedestrians and threw them in those abandoned bus terminals as holding pens in order to intimidate the peaceful lawful protesters.

Obama’s apparently getting his Denver MO from the likes of these thugs like Britches.

Whoever some of these people may be, if they exist at all, they do not yet understand that the sole action they are truly free to make is to recognize that they have no free will.

I’m way too computer illiterate to impersonate O-Fluffers.

I’m always Zee, unless there comes a Zee-clone.

But, it’s nice to see that I’m getting under that tighty whitey collar of yours, however much room there is amongst your bulges of aging beet-red neck flesh.

Canada, huh?

Obama has to import trolls?

Sweeties! Stop this fighting and focus your hate on those that won’t bow before me. Focus your hate to those under my big magical yellow bus.

Dritches, spread the word, I want you as my VP, because, uh, you, uh, are so good with , uh, words

Why would it matter if we are still living in America, asshole? We are still living in America aren’t we? Why don’t you call headquarters and check, I’ll wait. America: Where a personal email that criticizes a jerk who’s running for president SHOULDN’T get us into trouble. Right?

Comment by realDritches | 2008-08-14 19:14:50

Asshole?

Aren’t you a front pager here?

If you are a republican delegate and you are forwarding emails claiming McCain is a traitor for giving info to the veit cong, you think they will sit back and say,’oh well’ the constitution and all’?

These are political parties.

Comment by RedDragon62 | 2008-08-14 20:56:48

You know, it never ceases to amaze me how some spoiled punk can make a comment like this…..

if you are a republican delegate and you are forwarding emails claiming McCain is a traitor for giving info to the veit cong, you think they will sit back and say,’oh well’ the constitution and all’?

Now there is a small problem with this Troll!
One:
How do you know he gave info to the Viet Cong? Were you there? Did you witness this or just repeating Obama’s Talking points?.

Two:

Have you ever been tortured?
If not…SHUT THE FUCK UP!

Comment by Zeke | 2008-08-15 01:36:10

TorontoTurd:
John McCain never had anything to do with the VC unless he dropped bombs on them. He was shot down over North Vietnam and held captive and tortured by them.
Oh, and you definitely are an asshole.

You seem to be trafficking in lies and innuendo yourself. But that’s par for the O-team. Accuse others of what you’re doing.

Like dressing up your Anointed jackass in a cheap suit and calling him presidential material. He’s still a jackass and you’re a loser, bot. Oblahblah may win the nomination but he won’t get the prize. And you’ll be back to panhandling.

We have a whole stack of horrifying emails much worse than Ms Millstones. Her email goes into the pile with the others. So much for Democracy.

I recently quit the Democratic Party after 36 years. If this is the kind of party you want then you’re welcome to it.

Every time I read one of these incredible posts I keep thinking of the Nazis.

Are they going to request everyone “goosestep” from the floor of the convention to the Stadium for Obama’s speech.

These people make me so angry that they pretend to be for democracy and the American people and act like a bunch of Marxists.

I am amazed that the people who support Obama cannot get a clear picture of the type of person he is by the actions he has condoned and perpetuated on the DNC. It is no longer the Democratic Party. It is a tool to take over the nation by someone who was in reality not even elected by their party.

Who is he to determine who should be a super delegate and who is he that he should decide if Hillary’s name should be put in nomination? He has not officially been nominated. He did not receive the required delegate vote. The superdelegates can change their mind at any time.

I wonder if we are feeling the same outrage that the Germans’s felt under the assumption of power of Hitler.

I hope to God our country does not regret going into this election with their eyes closed and their brains apparently numbed.

You know Ummm - I feel sorry for you that you do not have enough patriotism or concern for you country to be alarmed by the tactics that Obama and his campaign have used to win the election.

You really need to get out some books and review what our forefathers went through to create this great country that we live in - It was not an easy battle and if not for the grace of God we would not be enjoying the freedoms that we now have.

It is a shame that democracy can be so easily scoffed at by the likes of you and your ilk. It will be very sad for you if you wake up one day and it is gone and you realize that you have ridiculed the very people who were trying to bring out the truth about a very real threat to our basic principles of freedom - the sanctity of our vote and theft of our democratic system of selecting our candidate for president.

I don’t get it.. you people are all obviously capable of making a coherent argument, but all I see here is innuendo and sniping. No facts at all to back up your positions on ANYthing.

Pray tell, then, exactly what “tactics” Obama and his campaign used that are so offensive to your sensibilities?

And exactly how did he “decide” that Hillary’s name should be put into nomination? From all I’ve read, it was a decision by the DNC after consultation with both Clinton and Obama.

You do make one valid point, that the superdelegates can change their mind at any time.. although I doubt we will see that happen. Obama might not be a unanimous choice, but he is apparently more unanimous a choice than Hillary. That’s what democracy is all about, the last time I checked.
